The Dominion of New Zealand had declared war on Nazi Germany on the 3rd of September 1939, the same day as the mother country. In June 1940, the country introduced the draft. Even if the country has just 1.6 million inhabitants, they're willing to help where they can. The 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force was originally destined for Egypt, but diverted to Britain (arriving in June as well) following the German invasion of France.
In the night of March 26th/27th of 1940, Labour prime minister Michael Savage died and was replaced by Peter Fraser.
