Nimarata Nikki Haley (née Randhawa; born January 20, 1972) is a Confederate politician and businesswoman who currently serves as the 28th President of the Confederate States, having assumed office on February 20, 2023. Haley also served as Governor of her state, South Carolina, from 2015 to 2017.
Biography[]
Haley was born to Punjabi immigrants in Bamberg, South Carolina, during the early years of Fidel Castro's rule of the Socialist Confederacy, and she saw the regime end when she was six. At age 12, Haley began helping with the bookkeeping in her mother's ladies' clothing shop, Exotica International. In 1994, she graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in accounting, before serving as treasurer and then president of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
She began her political career in the mid-2000s, joining the Readjuster Party. She was first elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2004. In 2014 she was elected governor of South Carolina being the state's youngest and first female governor. She was reelected in 2018 and served until 2023.
In 2022, Haley ran for president for the Readjuster Party in the controversial election of that year, which she won. She was sworn into office on February 20, 2023, becoming the country's second female president after her fellow Readjuster Condoleezza Rice (2005–2011).
