Nikolaj Lueger, Slovene kosez, governor of the Province of Trieste (1446 - 1465), * 1419 Koper, † 1465 Ljubljana.
The Luegs family lived in Predjama Castle.
Nikolaj Lueg was a good friend of Matjaž Vrhar. When the rebellion against the emperor took place under the leadership of the latter in 1446, Nicholas, like many others, took part in it.
The revolt was successful.
Nicholas became governor of the province of Trieste due to his friendship with the new king.
Four years later, his son Erasmus was born, who later became known for his rebellious actions.
When the Kingdom began to be attacked by the Turks, Nikolaj received an invitation to the governor's conference at Ljubljana Castle. It later turned out that this was a trap set by Slovenian traitors for all provincial governors to be seized and killed by the Turks. Exactly such a fate befell Nikolai. He died in the autumn of 1465, aged about 46.
