Nintendo Hyper-System is a home video game console developed by Nintendo during the third generation of video games. It is their first successful console after the recall of the Famicom in 1984; in fact, some games are ports from that console. It competed with the Sega Playbox and the Atari 7600.
Released from 1986 to 1987 worldwide, the Nintendo Hyper-System launched in the United States for $229.99, and has 2-player controllers, two memory card slots,8-bit Sega Master System-like color graphics, and a 16MB max cartridge. It was notable for making the save feature for video games without the need of a password, a feature that would go on to be standard today.
The Hyper-System was a huge success, selling out units across the globe, and positioned Nintendo to be a major player in the video game console market.
