On June 28, 1914, the future Emperor Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary faced an assassination attempt. The attempt was unsuccessful and he proceeded on to his scheduled Town Hall reception. Following this reception, he went to the hospital and visited the victims of the assassination attempt. 2 years later, on November 21, 1916, Emperor Franz Joseph would die of natural causes and Franz Ferdinand would become Emperor.

  • August 15, 1914: Panama Canal opens.
  • November 3, 1914: In the US mid-term elections, Republicans gain 72 seats in the House of Representatives, but Democrats still maintain a majority.
  • December, 1914: The Conservative Party wins a majority in the UK elections, ending 5 years of a hung Parliament. Andrew Bonar Law becomes Prime Minister.
  • November 7, 1916: Woodrow Wilson is defeated by Republican challenger Charles Evans Hughes. Republicans gain a narrow majority in the House and Senate.

  • March 1925: John Davis President of US promises to end war in two years. Davis orders the scientific community to search for super weapons that will end the war quickly.
  • June 1926:  Battle of New York.  British and Russian forces shell the city, destroying the statue of liberty.  Thousands of civilians especially of romance descent are killed.  International outrage increases against the British. British occupy city.
  • October 5 1926:  Mexico defeated. French and German forces occupy Mexico City. War begins to turn for the Allies.
  • November 11, 1926: Russian Czar Nicholas II assassinated. His son Alexei becomes Czar and signs treaty with US, switching Russia to the American side.
  • December 1926: First American aircraft carriers are put in action . The USS Lincoln leads task force in North Atlantic that destroys British Navy in that region. Canada experiences revolt.
  • January 6, 1927: Japan sides with Great Britain because of fears of growing US naval power. They prepare plans to invade US pacific coast that summer.
  • March 19, 1927: Russia in a surprise move attacks Japan destroying their invasion fleet..
  • May 8, 1927: London is bombed to ruin by American, French and German forces. Wallace escapes to Australia.
  • May 22, 1927: New York is liberated by US, French and Rebel Canadian forces.  British are on defensive.
  • August 4,1927: Worst nightmare. Washington D.C. is attacked by new and advanced British bombers. All members of Congress and President Davis are killed. US declares military rule until end of war. Meanwhile, British civilian opposition to the war increases. 
  • November 13, 1927: Invasion of Britain. US, French, German, and Russian forces blitz through Great Britain destroying all defenses occupying all territory within 3 weeks. 
  • December 3, 1927 : Wallace is captured in Hong Kong by American agents.
  • January 2, 1928: Great Britain unconditionally surrenders to the Allies ending The Great War.
