Nooshagak (Russian: Нушагак, Nushagak) is the capital and largest city of Shelikof, as well as the fifth largest city of Alaska. The region was founded as Fort New Alexandrovsk. Nooshagak would rise to city level during the later 19th century, during the industrialization of northern Alaska. Nooshagak would be the flashpoint for the Nooshagak Soviet, leading to a communist nation forming in northern Alaska.
