United People's Front
Formation May, 2009
Type Military Alliance
Legal status Active
Purpose/focus Defense
Headquarters Taloqan, Afghanistan

After the successful Pakistani takeover of Quandahar and its new role as the capital of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, former Soviet forces in the area that had set up various warlordships in the area, alongside Afghani sympathizers turned to the new USSR for aid.

Seeing as having a friendly force in the area would benefit them in the long run and slow down the Pakistani agenda, military advisors were sent into the area in May from Uyghuristan. The ex-Soviet forces then moved further north in Afghanistan, concentrating their forces in Taloqan, which would become the de facto capital of the ragtag alliance.

After its formation, the United People's Front has had few sympathizers in the area, despite being willing to admit anyone who is willing to fight against Iran and Pakistan. It mostly consists of Siberian "volunteers" and sympathizers from other CSTO members.

Although mostly a military alliance, the NA also has an economic system in place, mostly substenance farming, with the main agricultural crops grown are wheat, barley, flax, rice, sugarcane, chickpea and sesame. Farmers concentrate their efforts on the vegetables and farm products which require minimal water resources. The main fruits are apples, pears, grapes, almonds, walnuts, apricots, cherries and mulberries.

Other agricultural products are cotton and sugar beets. The area also produces grapes, pistachios, and pommegranates. The primary livestock are Karakul sheep.

Opium poppy growing is still in effect in the region, with the NA exporting it to local khanates and Pakistan to fund their efforts, while the USSR strictly bans its importing.

Lapis lazuli has been mined in the Sar-e-Sang mines, located in the Kuran wa Munjan District of Badakhshan, for over 6,000 years and has found a new market, thanks to Siberian exporting. Recent geological surveys conducted by the USSR have indicated the location of other gemstone deposits, in particular rubies and emeralds.

As a military alliance, most of the region is governed by the forces of the alliance, mostly consisting of poorly trained locals, armed with the latest equipment from Siberia. Troops from Siberia have also been sent on tours of duty to the region, but most of the fighting is done by locals and sympathizers from other CSTO members.

They also use Siberian APCs, while the acquisition of helicopters is also being discussed, they are more likely to remain under Siberian control.
