The Kingdom of Norway (Norwegian: Kongeriket Norge) is a sovereign state in northern Europe, covering much of the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula as well as the islands of Iceland and the Faeroes. It borders Sweden to the east, Lapland to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Norway has for many years shared its monarch with England, and later Albion, giving rise to centuries of exchange of culture and population.
