The Candidacy of PT Manuela d'Ávila was considered one of the least preferred by PT members, he was considered a ''young candidate but not very convincing''. As a result, she was unable to win many votes against President Aécio Neves. After the debates she had an insignificant increase which made her not being favorite in any poll. After Aécio took office on March 15, 2015, the PT was represented as the main opposition of the Neves government in power. They tried to make justifications and evidence in November 2015 with the president's corruption case. He organized one of the biggest protests against a government. The Party ended up being against liberal reforms by Aécio Neves, which made the PT bench against the proposals and laws drawn up by the PSDB.
