The Confederation of Parana (Portuguese: Confederação do Paraná) or Paraná, is a sovereign state and a democratic republic in South America.
The nation is bordered by Cerrado and La Plata to the west, by Minas Gerais to the north, and by Bahia to the east.
History[]
The first colonized parts of Parana were on the coast of São Paulo, founding the cities of Saint Vincent and Itanhaém, the two oldest cities of the country. In 1554, it founded the country's capital, São Paulo.
Independence[]
In 1823, Jose Bonifacio led a separatist revolt in São Paulo, declaring independence. Bonifacio was placed as first president of the Confederation of Parana, until his death in 1838, when there was the first direct presidential election in the country.
