Pedro Manuel Mamede Passos Coelho (born 24 July 1964) is a Portuguese politician who was the 12th Prime Minister of Portugal, in office from 2011 to 2015. He is the leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Passos Coelho started very early in politics, becoming the national leader of the youth branch of the PSD. A business manager by trade, he led the 19th Constitutional Government of Portugal as head of government from 21 June 2011 to 22 October 2015.
