  • 1942: Tesla met with the King of Yugoslavia, King Peter II. Of this meeting the King wrote; I visited Dr Nikola Tesla, the world-famous Yugoslav-American scientist, in his apartment in the Hotel New Yorker. After I had greeted him the aged scientist said: 'It is my greatest honour. I am glad you are in your youth, and I am content that you will be a great ruler. I believe I will live until you come back to free Yugoslavia.' From your father you have received his last worlds: "Guard Yugoslavia." I am proud to be a Serbian and a Yugoslav. Our people cannot perish. Preserve the unity of all Yugoslavs - the Serbs, the Croats and the Slovenes.
  • The factions supporting the rule of Peter II of Yugoslavia were the British, the US, and the Chetniks. The Chetniks had some legalization from the Axis yet still opposed them in a tactic of 'undermining the enemy from within'- they were also supporters of ethnic cleansing with the emergence of a Greater Serbian State which is counter to Tesla's hope for Yugoslavia. Yet this wasn't public news thus Tesla was not likely aware of the activities. In fact, the British were most aware of it and when they stopped lending aid the Americans couldn't understand why - seeing how the Chetniks were anti-communist. Regardless of the movements ills it was the largest faction in Yugoslavia (having thanks to limited collaboration with the Nazis severely diminished its opposition) and almost continued to receive support. It all depends on Draza Mihailovic, giving the go ahead for a railway raid and the British not learning about a cease fire certain leaders in the movement had arranged with the Nazis. These two alterations would see (thanks to Joseph having limited interest in Yugoslavia) see the Kingdom restored. The new Yugoslavia, though - despite having a beloved King would have been created by men who have done horrible deeds. Peter's attempts to reconcile with the Croats would be hindered by the continued involvement of such men. Eugenics would further tense up the situation as the Chetniks would push for an ethnic bias in any such legislation - though as a monarchy it doesn't seem that Peter himself was interested in the science and based on Tesla's wishes Peter would seek to preserve the unity of Yugoslavia or in this case build it back up and foster its growth. Like most of the Balkans Yugoslavia is a powder keg post war just as in OTL, though in this one it has a monarch rather then rival politicians to manage the chaos.
  • A possible route is to diversify the partisan groups in Yugoslavia through Italian influence, and utilizing a Greek Socialist victory to pull communist interests south.
