The Philippines, officially the Federation of the Philippines, is a country in Southeast Asia. It is situated in the western Pacific Ocean, and consists of about 7,641 islands, that are broadly categorized under 5 main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and North Borneo.

In its Constitution, the Philippines defines itself as a Christian and democratic state. The country is a liberal democracy with a parliamentary system, proportional representation, and universal suffrage. The premier is head of government and the chief executive, the premier is more powerful than the president and the most powerful person in the Philippine politics. The Parliament is the legislature. With a population of around 110 million as of 2021, Philippines is a developed country and it has the most powerful military in Asia after China and India. It has the world's 3th-largest economy by nominal GDP, and is the most developed country currently in conflict against terrorism. It has the highest standard of living in Asia, and ranks among the world's top countries by percentage of citizens with military training, transparency of the government, percentage of citizens holding a tertiary education degree, research and development spending by GDP percentage, women's safety, life expectancy, innovativeness, and happiness.

History[]

The current Republic is established in January 1, 2020, after a new constitution was ratified and the North Borneo & West Philippine Island joined the Philippines. The Philippine GDP grow from 41.5% in just 6 months. The great reforms is made by the National Unity Government led by Bongbong Marcos and Grace Poe from January 10, 2020 to July 10, 2020 which enlargened the Philippine economy. The Philippines is now considered a developed country by the international community. Philippines is a member of the United Nations, New ASEAN, and G22.

Government and politics[]

Philippines is a parliamentary democracy with universal suffrage. A member of parliament supported by a parliamentary majority becomes the premier usually this is the chairman of the largest party. The premier is the head of government, head of the cabinet, chief executive, and commander-in-chief of the military.

The Philippines is governed by a 700-member parliament, known as the Parliament. Membership of the National Assembly is based on proportional representation of political parties which in practice has resulted in majority or coalition governments. Parliamentary elections are scheduled every five years, but unstable government or coalitions or a no-confidence vote by the Parliament may can dissolve a government earlier.

The President of the Philippines is the head of state, with limited and largely ceremonial duties.

The President may appoint the Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Other Opposition with the discretion of the Premier.

Military[]

The Philippine Defence Forces (PDF) is the only military wing of the Philippines, and is headed by Deputy Commander-in-Chief, subordinate to the Commander-in-chief which is the premier. The PDF consists of the army, air force, navy, space agency, nuclear agency, and border defence. The Philippine Defense Forces have been involved in major wars and border conflicts, making it the 2nd most battle-trained defence forces in the world.

The Philippines has 12 nuclear bombs in total. The first nuclear bomb was first tested in July 3, 2020.

Economy[]

Philippines has a mixed economy with a highly skilled labour force, a low level of corruption, and a high level of innovation. It is the world's 3rd largest exporter and 3rd largest importer of goods, and has the second largest economy in Asia after China, which is also the world's third-largest economy by nominal GDP, and the third-largest by PPP. The service sector contributes approximately 38% of the total GDP, industry 35%, and agriculture 2% as of 2021. The unemployment rate published by Philippine government amounts to 2.1% as of 2021, which is the second-lowest in the Asia after Japan.
