Charge representing two mascots of the parties in the polarization

The Polarization of the PT (Workers' Party) and PSDB (Brazilian Social Democratic Party), is a famous political polarization between two parties in Brazil. He is known by his nicknames as Coxinha and Mortadela (Coxinha representing the right or supporters of the PSDB and Mortadela representing the left and the PT). It is considered by many to be the second polarization between two parties, the first being PSD and PTB).

In the 2018 elections, due to the great popularity of the Aécio government and a slight left-wing political split between the PT and the PSB, the polarization between the two parties has weakened reasonably. However, in the 2022 elections, polarization returned with great force, which is clear from the parliamentary elections, where the two parties grew in seats in the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, despite the split between the right and the left in the presidential elections.

Tucanos and PT states refer to states that are more favorable with the PSDB (São Paulo, Mato Grosso) and those that are more favorable with PT (Piauí, Bahia and Maranhão).This term appeared in the 2010 elections, when compared to the 2006 and 2002 elections. This generated a meme on the Brazilian internet around the years 2013, inspired by the RedLand meme (meme in the 2012 American elections).

In the 2018 elections, Aécio Neves ended up winning in 21 states, however despite this, in a matter of percentage in states that voted in the past PT candidates, it was very fierce, as in Pernambuco where Aécio ended up winning with a 0.05% difference .
