The Polish-Livonian War was a Military conflict fought between the newly established Kingdom of Poland along with the Duchy of Livonia against Livonian Rebels led by Titas Minevicus who intended to force the Duke of Livonia , Josef Poniatowiski to abdicate and either convince Napoleon I to elevate Livonia to the status of Kingdom or declare Livonian Independence from France.

In the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars , the second largest ethnicity in the Grande Armee were the Poles who were some of Napoleon’s most loyal supporters during the Napoleonic Wars against Russia , Prussia and Austria. In order to honor the commitment of the Poles , Napoleon elevated the status of Poland from a simple Duchy to a Kingdom crowing Fredireick Augustus I as King of Poland on the 17th of December 1818.

This created dissent throughout Eastern Europe , especially in Livonia as the peoples of the nations of Livonia , White Ruthenia and ?? were angered that they weren’t getting any special treatment like Poland did and believed they were generally ignored by the French Emperor. This resulted in an Uprising to take place in Livonia in which saw most of Livonia rise up against Duke Josef Poniatowiski , a Marshal of France who was given the title of Duke of Livonia by Napoleon in 1814.

The Revolt started in May 1819 when Livonians rose up against Poniatowiski and quickly formed a small army of approximately 16,875 Men against Poniatowiski's 33,750 Men besieging Poniatowiski's Loyalists in every city in Livonia including Riga.
