Polynesia (from Greek πολύς polys "many" and νῆσος nēsos "islands") is a region of Oceania, located in the easternmost part of the continent, to the east of the other Oceanian regions (Australasia, Melanesia and Micronesia). As the name suggests, it is made up of numerous islands and islets.
