The following page describes the impact that the historical divergence and subsequent events including World War III would've had on popular culture.

Literature

Tom Clancy

The Russians occupying the Pacific Northwest banned all books written by Tom Clancy for subversive military themes with all existing copies confiscated and destroyed.

Movies and television

The Americans

The Americans was temporarily banned in the United States during the war and eventually resumed. The series finale involved Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings being placed under arrest for espionage.

The Day After

Temporarily banned in the United States during the war to avoid use for nuclear escalation fear mongering by anti-war movements.

Enemy at the Gates 2

A fictional depiction of a real-life American Resistance sniper during the Seattle Insurrection who successfully killed many Russian military officers and pro-Russian collaborators. The final climatic moment involves a snipers' duel between the partisan sniper and an elite Spetsnaz sniper.

Goonies 2

An upcoming film by Warner Brothers in which the Goonies return along with their offspring to search for a historical treasure buried somewhere in the vicinity of Russian-occupied Astoria, Oregon. Meanwhile they are pursued by a vengeful Jake and Francis Fratelli who were freed from confinement and hired by the pro-Russian Cascadian Freedom Party to find the treasure before the Goonies do. The upcoming sequel is officially sponsored by the Veterans of the American Resistance.

Phineas and Ferb: Summer of Tyranny

This new Phineas and Ferb series created by Disney takes place exclusively in the 2nd Dimension and follows the five year reign of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz over the Tri-State Area.

Rambo V

Due to the Russian invasion of the Pacific Northwest, the human trafficking plot was shelved and replaced with an entirely new plot set in the Russian-occupied Pacific Northwest during World War III. John Rambo was recalled to active military duty and sent behind enemy lines to link up with American Resistance fighters in the last place he'd ever hope to see again: Hope, Washington. David Caruso reprises his role as Mitch Rogers who had become Sheriff of Ligget County sometime after the events of First Blood and is now the leader of the local group of partisans fighting against the occupation.

Shannara Chronicles

The pilot episode Chosen was recalled so that the scene with the ancient ruins of the Space Needle were edited out and replaced. This was done in response to the Russian military crackdown of the Seattle Insurrection during the occupation which caused the destruction of much of the City of Seattle including the toppling of the Space Needle.

Stargate SG:1

All episodes with Russian characters were either removed or edited from cable broadcasting for the duration of the Third World War. The entire series was banned in Russian-occupied Pacific Northwest for glorification of the US military with all physical copies that are found during searches to be confiscated and destroyed.

Star Trek Beyond sequel

While a sequel has yet to be made, J.J. Abrams had pitched the idea that Pavel Chekov be cast as either a Section 31 operative or even a pro-Klingon turncoat in a potential Klingon-Federation War. This was no doubt connected to Chekov's Russian ancestry.

Star Trek Bajor

Star Trek Bajor is a new series of Star Trek set before the events of Star Trek The Next Generation and depicts the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. The story focuses on the Shakaar resistance cell with members including a younger version of Kira Nerys. Marc Alaimo reprises his role as the villainous Gul Dukat. The episode Gallitep was the first episode in the history of the Star Trek franchise to receive an "R" rating.

Top Gun 2

Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) returns in this war thriller sequel which is due for release in 2020. With the outbreak of World War Three, Maverick's career as a flight instructor is put on hold when he receives orders to assume the post as the Commander Air Group of a United States nuclear aircraft carrier. When the pilots under his command face overwhelming odds in an aerial battle with Russian MiGs, Maverick chooses to personally lead the mission aboard his jet fighter in a final showdown that could decide the outcome of the war.

2016 Summer Olympics

The All Russian Federation was banned from taking part in the 2016 Summer Olympics plus Russian athletes weren't permitted to compete under the Olympic flag either.
