The President of Japan (Japanese: 日本民国大統領, Nippon Minkoku Daitōryō) is the head of state and government of the Republic of Japan, and is the commander in chief of the Japan Defence Forces. The President is directly elected quadrennially; and an individual can be re-elected indefinitely. They are the head of the Cabinet and has the power to appoint and dismiss all of its other members with the consent of the Senate.
