Preparations for President-elect Ivanka Trump's presidential transition began prior to the 2020 presidential election, pursuant to federal law. Trump's transition team was led by former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, who would later be nominated by Trump to serve as Secretary of Transportation.
On November 10th, 2020 Trump designated Julie Radford, her campaign manager, as White House Chief of Staff. On the same day, former Senator Rudy Giuliani, businessman Steve Bannon, and Attorney General of Missouri Josh Hawley were each named Counselor to the President.
Trump was formally elected by the Electoral College on December 14th, 2020, and the results were certified by a joint session of Congress on January 6th, 2021. The transition ended and the Trump administration began when she was inaugurated at noon on January 20th, 2021.

Which exact positions are considered part of the presidential cabinet, can vary with the President. For example, the head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (aoften termed the "Drug Czar") was a Cabinet-level position under both Bill Clinton and George W.
