Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, KG, GCVO, GCStJ (Richard Alexander Walter George; born 26 August 1944) is the youngest grandchild of King George V and Queen Mary. He practised as an architect until the death of his elder brother placed him in direct line to inherit his father's dukedom of Gloucester, which he inherited, as the second duke, in 1985. He is a paternal cousin of King George VII, at birth he Was 7th in the line of succession to the British throne, currently he is 27th in the line of succession as well as the first in line not descended from King George VI.
After The King’s 1992 Mordernization of The Monarchy, Richard and his wife, alongside their cousins, announced that once the Prince of Wales ascends to the throne, they would stop using their “HRH”styles in the wish of the King.
After the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, Buckingham Palace further announce that The Gloucesters and Clarences would stop using “HRH”styles once the official Royal Mourning ends, it’s their cousin, The King’s wish and they are well consulted and respected the choice.
