Ming China, Ethiopian Empire, Hundred Years War, Western Schism.... that's right, it's finally back, the long awaited fourth expansion of that immortal series, welcome to Principia Moderni IV! Starting in 1400 AD, this is the dawn of the modern world and the tail end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance is just kicking off in Europe, while England and France are locked in the last gasp of the Hundred Years War. The Ming Dynasty is dominating East Asia with the largest navy in the world, comparable only with the colonial empire of Venice and the budding navy of Portugal. The Muslim world is still reeling from the invasions of Turks and Mongols, with the Caliphate resting in the collapsing Mamluke Egypt and the Ottomans on the rise in Anatolia. The Aztec and Inca Empires are on the rise in America. It's a time for old endings and new beginnings. Make it count.

The first game was the most successful on the wiki, leading all the way to the modern day with mostly plausible posts and little controversy. The second game reached almost to the modern day, but failed due to a plethora of ASB events and moderator bias. The third game was much more worthy of the first, almost running into implausibility but climbing back into a shining glory by the end. Riding on the latest reforms of map games since the end of PMIII, this is the most logical next step in that evolution. Remember above all other rules: have fun. :-)

Nations

Nations in BOLD are reserved for users of both plausible and civil reputation -Nathan

Personal union: played by the same player.

Dynastic union: not played by the same player. When in dynastic union, territories can revert to the primary line if the extant line dies out.

For example: Berry is in dynastic union with Valois. This means that if the rulers of Berry die out, Berry will revert to Valois in a personal unions. If the player of Berry wants to give their territory to the player of Valois, they may. However, if Berry has no player, Valois cannot seize it without speaking with the mods. Auvergne is in personal union with Berry. This means it has the same ruler and therefore is also in dynastic union with Valois. The same laws apply here.
Dynastic union is not reversible. If the line of Valois becomes extinct, Berry cannot inherit it. It is a one way street.
Special note for France: if French territory not in union with the royal house (presently Valois) die out, its territories within the borders of France revert to the crown. Territories held outside France cannot be claimed by the crown except through war.

Vassals: certain vassals can be played by the higher nation while others cannot. Case by case basis.
