The Ming Dynasty still rules over the vast lands of China. On the other side of the world, the Hundred Years War continues between England and France. Europe is still stuck in the old ways of feudalism and chivalry while the notions of a New World are considered figments of imagination.

We welcome you to the long awaited fourth expansion of that immortal series. Welcome to Principia Moderni IV! Starting in 1400 AD, this is the dawn of the modern world and the tail end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance is just kicking off in Europe, while the nations in the western side of the continent are locked in the last gasp of the Hundred Years War. The Muslim world is still reeling from the invasions of Turks and Mongols, with the Caliphate resting in the collapsing Mamluk Egypt and the Ottomans on the rise in Anatolia. Make it count.

The first game was the most successful on the wiki, leading all the way to the modern day with mostly plausible posts and little controversy. The second game reached almost to the modern day, but failed due to a plethora of ASB events and moderator bias. The third game was much more worthy of the first, almost running into implausibility but climbing back into a shining glory by the end. Riding on the latest reforms of map games since the end of PMIII, this is the most logical next step in that evolution. Remember above all other rules — have fun.

Moderator Strikes

These are strikes for moderators and how they moderate. The same three strikes rules apply. If a moderator is banned from moderating, however, they can still play as their nation. Mod strikes can be delivered in one of three ways:

  1. If a sufficient number of players (more than half of all players voting) vote to give a moderator a strike.
  2. If I, Scraw, give them a strike.
  3. If a majority of all mods (ie more than half of the total number of mods, excluding that moderator) vote to give a moderator a strike.

Moderators can be given strikes for the following reasons:

  1. Exhibiting bias that would benefit the nation they are playing.
  2. Exhibiting bias that would negatively affect a player they have a personal dispute with.
  3. Making a ruling that contradicts a proven fact from OTL or an established fact from earlier in the game.
  4. Overruling a decision of a majority of moderators.

The Game

1620

Harsh winters across Arcadia forces the colonists to seek better ways of growing crops there.

During the Warring States of Anangu, a couple of regional powers form on the frontiers of the far eastern and western shores, becoming centers of ideologic diversity and even expanding into the hinterlands. The region in Central Australia near Mount Uluru develops an almost theocratic society around the dreamspeakers.

The Zulu kingdom establishes itself further in its conquered territories with a sort of road system radiating out of their heartlands in the Natal region and expanding into newly conquered territories. A shipwrecked trade ship in Natal survives their encounter with the Zulus becoming the First Europeans to visit the Zulus.

Surely the Missionaries who proposed the alliance with Burgundy would have been Europeans? Not to mention the other missionaries sent in the years since ~Cal
They are the First europeans to visit the Zulu heartland and come back to tell about it. Also stop putting your comments below turns. Thats banned and the mods are not exempt. -Feud

The surviving 123 men from the crew of the Emeraude Péruvienne are taken in by the Zulu king who are happy to deal with these europeans describing them to his advisors "as less pretentious and more favorable company". The information exchanged between the shipwrecked sailors and the Zulus becomes immediately apparent as the King orders the development of a Shipwright along a coastal town to build a ship capable of taking the tradesman home to their respective european countries.

The Wars in West Africa grow more bloody as the Mali empires joins in hoping to conquer large amounts of territory from Benin. This is only partially successful as following a string of quick victories one of the Imperial claimants to the throne in Benin obliterates their initial army and is poised to invade Mali for the betrayal hoping to spread his ideology, a reformed Kuzirism having adopted more tenants from Islam and Christianity and becomming more widely accepted over the decades.

  • Archduchy of Austria: Economy improves in Austria and military modernizes and recruits more troops. Trade relations are still improving, while the roads continue to build in various cities. Some villages begin to build and population expects to grow slightly. The industrialization is still not yet planned to be ongoing, and it's on hold for uncertain reasons.
  • Deccan Sultanate: The Dakhini language continues to spread. The court patronises miniature paintings. Trade continues to grow and expand. A university is built in Ahmadnagar.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The royal guards continue capturing slaves. Areas interior to Mobassa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue development of Madagascar. With Iranian weapons, the first full firearm regiment is trained and will be used as the elite force. We send spies to investigate the Zulu. The issue of pirates have reached the Sultan, and the Council develops a strategy to counter the pirates. Outdated ships and cannons are sold to merchants in hopes that they are capable of self defense. 300 large ships of the Royal Navy, divided into 15 squadrons of 20 ships, and a mobile force of 180 ships, divided into 2 squadrons, are sent for anti piracy measures. The 15 squadrons will patrol 15 different sectors based upon major ports of Swahili. When encountering a major pirate fleet, they would report to the mobile force, which would sail in to crush the pirates. The other squadron of the mobile force would escort trade fleets while also carrying goods to offset the cost.
    • Swahili Dip: We ask the Caliphate to assist us in enforcing order on the seas.
    • Rashidun Dip: we agree to help mitigate piracy, and additionally work to exchange naval technology, although we do not condemn the use of privateers by merchant companies.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: A full generation after the end of the Sixth Fitna, the Caliphate entered into a new era. The Caliph looks favorably to the proposals made by the Pope at Alexandria, and looks forward to more diplomacy in the future. Those who grew up under the Rashidun education system began engineering a scientific revolution. With the telescope fully adopted by astronomers in the House of Wisdom, astronomers began categorizing the kinds of craters on the moon. The navy was greatly expanded to help connect the various vassals in the Indian ocean. Most significantly, Admiral Al-Nasser adopts many of the mathematical advancements into the shipping technology. Books of logarithms were kept on each flag ship, and routine exercises demonstrate how to calculate the optimum trajectory of the ship cannons. Naval hardware are also modernized using the shipping technology from Africa and western Europe. An age of piracy continues in the eastern Indian Ocean, as many ships left over from the Unification of Arabia become manned by collections of brigands and misfits from across the subcontinent, including Swahili, Tamil, Bengal, and Javanese, and East Asian people. Education also continued to be advanced, utilizing an Aristotelian method of natural living and pedagogy to enhance understanding. In Borneo, the troops of the Rashidun vassals expel any remaining Japanese incursion, and we ask the French to help in this endeavor as it is now their protectorate (MOD RESPONSE)
    • French Dip: A fleet of 150 Javanese ships, and 20,000 troops from Java proper move to reassume control in Borneo and help the Caliphate.
    • France signed a treaty with Japan. Why are they able to break this treaty? -General
    • Because Treaties require some enforcement, and if the Japanese cant enforce their treaty, why should France respect it. Treaties with nations were broken from time to time. Especially between Europeans and non Europeans. -Feud
  • Within the United Kingdoms of Iberia,The leading crown of Great Iberia - Portugal - has kept Iberia intact through a series of personal unions since the conclusion of the Iberian Civil War in 1539. Henry of House Braganza, the second of his name, has ruled since 1587. In his time as the King of Portugal, he has worked on the 'migration' of Portuguese culture to the rest of Iberia, in addition to building up the infrastructure of Portugal and Her colonies. He also led Iberia to victory against Burgundy and reclaimed the Azores in the name of Portugal. His heir John is in good health, with the House of Braganza currently in little danger of a succession crisis. The kingdom of Portugal directly controls a large stretch of land, from Gibraltar to Galicia. Its population is currently 13 million souls, with a population boom seeing the nation continuing to swell with people. The population of Great Iberia is expected to reach 15 million by 1600. While Iberia has suffered calamity due to civil war, hardship generally yields increased reproductive rates. The most prominent cities in the union are Lisbon, Madrid, and Valencia, with Lisbon being the capital of both Portugal and Great Iberia. Portugal has an alliance with France and Scotland and retains good relations with England. Portugal hopes to ally with England in time. With the end of the Iberian Civil War, the nation begins working on making Portuguese a more dominent culture in the union. Town criers all over the union are expected to speak Portuguese in addition to their regional languages. In addition, schools in Iberia teach students Portuguese. Festivals celebrating Portuguese culture become fairly common in towns, with the Portuguese crown paying for many of these festivals. The Spaniards are treated as partners in the union, not underlings, though Portuguese culture is clearly intended to become the dominant culture in Iberia in the years to come. The same treatment, unfortunately, is not given to those of different religious backgrounds. Since the 15th century, as a result of the Inquisitions, there has been a legal and societal distinction between Old Christians and New Christians. Jews and Muslims who converted to Christianity - New Christians - are currently forbidden from marrying Old Christians. This law extends to their ancestors. Many nobles and clergy believe in the 'purity of blood,' i.e. the lack of heresy in their bloodline. However, the Perdão da ignorância act (Forgiveness of ignorance), which was passed in 1551, essentially dissolves the marriage boundaries between the natives and settlers. With Christians New and Old allowed to wed in the colonies, the populations may recover from the smallpox crisis. The economy of Portugal is a powerhouse, both in Europe and in the New World. The military, as a result, operates with state-of-the-art arms. The navy of Portugal is a vast expanse of ships, with several being built this year. Old ships are scrapped, many of their parts being used in the construction of new ships. While France uses a lynch mob in their portion of Aragon, Iberia uses a more direct approach. The Inquisition takes this opportunity to purge any and all suspected witches. These men and clergy arrive in more urban areas early in the year. Later, however, the Inquisition unexpectedly arrives in more rural areas to purge several more suspected witches. This strife in Aragon leads King Henry to re-offer the trade France had once offered: Liguria for the rest of Aragon, in addition to ports in Barcelona and decreased tariffs in Iberian ports.
      • Amazonia: Several ships full of colonists arrive in Amazonia, though the growth of the colony is fairly delayed due to the lack of arable soil. However, the primary export of Amazonia is wood. The expanding empire of Portugal is ever in need of timber. The Amazonian Royal Timber Company has been providing wood to Portugal and the rest of Iberia since 1548. The plague in Seville and the Inquisition's response leads many Jews and Muslims to travel to Amazonia this year. The militia of Amazonia is roughly 300. Its population is a little over 3100.
      • Mêcicipi: Relations with the local natives continues to be profitable, trade pouring through the capital of the colony - Nova Galicia. In the meantime, expansion along the coast towards Maiam's northern coast continues, frontiersmen and settlers arriving in droves due to the discounted land prices. Many Jews and Muslims travel to this colony to escape the plague and the Inquisition. The militia is roughly 250 strong, the population being 2700.
      • Nova Lusitânia: Several ships full of colonists arrive in Nova Lusitânia. The church of São Pedro is finally completed, the Immaculata having learned Portuguese by this time and worked closely with the settlers of the colony. Many colonists of Balboa Rocha have relocated to the area near the church of São Pedro, with a rather sizable gap of space in between the settlements existing as of this year. This separation causes a delay in the growth of Balboa Rocha, though the area São Pedro becomes increasingly profitable. The people near the Church of São Pedro request a charter to create the city of São Pedro so as to differentiate between Balboa Rocha and the area around São Pedro. An answer arrives late this year approving this request. Many Christians from Seville, angered by the curfew or afraid of the non-Christian population, travel to this colony.
  • Siam: Population of the nation continues to increases slightly. Farming crops such as rice and sugarcane are the main export of the nation to neighboring nations. The economy is stagnent for the moment. Ship building has been on the rise of latley since expedition to new places have been on interest. Junk ships are the main boat being made by ship builders. Early guns and katana like swords are the popular weapons of troops in the military, while older troops prefer crossbows and bows to guns. We continue to improve the roads in our nation so trade is more effective. We allow Burgundy and Rashidun ships to dock in our ports so we can trade with them. Coal mining is now one of the most popular resources in the nation. The nation continues to protect its borders in the north from the chinese nations. We still keep to our Asian roots even with westerners allowed in our nation. We try not to get inflenced by them. Mix breading of western Muslims and Europenas with our natives are becoming very popular within the nation. The kings first son Preecha is born.
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Vaili after years of massive centralization of power under himself and his close advising body. In a speech to his mostly disempowered nobility he claims "I am the State" when referring to rulership of the minted Belkan name and the following Tsardom. His empowerment immediately allows him to see nearly 20-30 years of work come to fruition. He immediately delves into the massive manpower pool now available to him fully outlawing Serdom and Feudalism in its entirety as the extra food production brought in by the new agricultural production has made a huge population surplus in terms of availability. Some go to work on the terrace farms of plantation farms, while others flood into other markets inundating the metalworking and artisan sectors as large amounts of apprenticeships are taken. The most noteworthy increase is the mass volunteering for the Belkan Imperial Army. The Imperial military is restructured away from the legionary concept and more towards modern battle formations even moving beyond the standard pike and shot which has been dominating. A much higher ratio of muskets to pikes preferring to use this tactic to better bring about and drill the much larger armed force now available. Tsar Vasili personally appoints his military minded son Kaloyan to the post as field marshall along side 3 other marshalls all hoping to master control of such a large force. The population of Belka grows to roughly 9.2 million and growing faster. However population boom seems to be beginning to slow down. Tsar Vasili begins planning two separate campaigns. One to claim Transylvannia claiming that the Family holds the area by inheritance vs the current ruling nobles. The other campaign is geared towards liberating the Greeks potentially. The Belkan official language is "Belkan" the modernized Slavonic still currently evolving due to its implementation. The Official Capital is placed in Vasiligrad.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: as winter ends, the spring campaigns in the Burgundian Civil Wad are allowed to commence. The opening moves prove disastrous as the rebel armies, led by the remarkably competent Count of Lure initiate an offensive campaign against Duke Guise's Army of Champagne. Guise is defeated and Lure takes his army north, looking to threaten Antwerp or Brussels to force an end to the war. But a reinforced Army of Flanders, lead by Maurice, Prince of Orange halt the invasion with large rebel casualties at the Battle of Leuven. With Maurice's victory, Duke Guise's army has time to reinforce and push south, further into Champagne. Lure is able to keep them from relieving the siege of Troyes with a hasty defense. A late autumn push however by both Prince Maurice's and Duke Guise's armies are able to overwhelm his defensive lines and relieve Troyes before the worst of winter arrives. The late offensive force Count Lure to abandon the winter shelters he had been building for his troops, and withdraw south with the worst of winter arriving, and while the housing in Troyes to shelter the royal forces. It is estimated the Royal armies have over fifty thousand men ready for spring offensives, while the noble rebels have gathered twenty-three thousand in their army, with the Royal holdout of Dijon forcing the rebels to divert much needed men and supplies to keep on the siege. The gains made during the year convince Empress-Regent Elisabeth to hold the opening of the House of Commons, only a few months delayed. Immediately, a supermajority declare their support for the Royal war effort. In naval matters, the largely Dutch and common-born fleet remains loyal, with few deserting to defect to the rebels. In the colonies, the largely Dutch populations remain loyal to the Crown, although the winter forces the colonists to focus on survival. Emissaries are sent to tribes in the area, looking for assistance in growing in these conditions. With the English declaration of war, and the seizing of Burgundian colonies, while not unexpected, a new urgency is had. When asked if a winter offensive can be launched, Duke Guise is hesitant, but Prince Maurice displays confidence. Completely surprising Count Lure, a series of swift, lightning attacks, spearheaded by cavalry, disrupt the rebel encampments. These are followed up by the advance of the rest of the army, backed up by the arrival of Prussian reinforcements cause a mass route of the rebels from Champagne and into Comital Burgundy. As a result, the siege of Dijon is lifted by years end, and a final campaign is planned to clear Comital Burgundy next year. For the Navy, it prepares for direct conflict with England. Its 750 strong fleet is reinforced by the massive Hanseatic navy, and the respectable Prussian navy, bringing it to a total force of 1,800 ships. Meanwhile, plans are drawn up for the liberation of the colonies following the final rebel defeat.
    • Kingdom of Ceylon: due to the centralization of Ceylon after the recent civil war, the East India Company rules the island through the king with absolute authority. The Colonial Guard continues to be built up as a separate, Burgundian-loyal warrior class, ensuring their allegiance in the event of unrest. News of the Civil war in Burgundy reaches Ceylon this year, but as the French nobility have no influence in the East India Company, it is merely noted as the pay go about their business.
    • Kingdom of Malaya: like in Ceylon, the civil war in Burgundy is noted by the Company and its forces, but as they cannot hope to influence its outcome, no action is taken with the exception of keeping tabs on possible French noble sympathizers. The Company's centralization policies have allowed them, and the Malayan King, to remove potentially corrupt, over ambitious, or disloyal nobles and reorganize the kingdom into a series of provinces, like the reforms in Ceylon. The centralization policies also allow the size of the Malayan Colonial Guard to grow, which like in Ceylon, is built up as a separate warrior class.
    • OOC Person: Prussia never actually committed anything you can't just play as if you are them by taking their army and navy. Nk needs to make at least some appearance of approval for what your doing. Plus a winter attack is far fetched to say the least. Lighting swift attacks during the winter come on.
      • Nk has said that I'm in control of Prussia while he's not around and thus am able to use his military at my discretion. He's said this this several times. Plus, France =/= Russia, Paris' average temperature during December is 41 degrees F, and since Troyes and Dijon are south of Paris, they're liable to be warmer. Yay Gulf Stream. -Guy
      • You can't just use his nation's military and have him be inactive for a while. He needs to be playing or posting his absences. In effect your playing your nation and his. You don't campaign with a 50,000 strong army in the middle of winter with no roads. The temperature is cold and rainwater builds up and then your army gets bogged down in mud.
      • You seem to also be forgetting that, in addition to Nk having given me permission to use his military (I can provide the screenshot if you'd like), Burgundy and Prussia are in a PU together, and thus work as a common realm. It'd be ridiculous if the Prussian king didn't send troops to put down a rebellion in his realm, and ships to defend that same land from attack. And yes, I concede that winter campaigning isn't easy, but it isn't impossible. It's the difficulty of winter warfare that caught the rebel commanders off guard. It wasn't a war-winner, as the rebellion is still going on and a final campaign is needed. -Guy
      • I don't need screenshots, Nk hasn't posted in six turns which counts as inactivity so I debate his right to allow you to use the military if he isn't playing more than twice every 20 years. Being in a PU doesn't mean you would send troops or ships. This massive Hanestic navy isn't yours to control since it's not in a PU. You can't catch them off guard because winter campaigning is such a problem. You don't surprise march 50,000 troops through winter mud.
      • The Hansa is a Prussian vassal, so if it's overlord commands it to commit ships, it will, same with any other vassal. It's ridiculous to assume that a king wouldn't send troops and ships to aid a land he's also king of, especially if there's an ongoing civil war, and a defensive war. Not to mention Burgundy and Prussia have been steadfast allies for almost two hundred years. Again, winter campaigning is difficult, but not impossible. The Gaul campaigns of Julius Caesar comes to mind. -Guy
  • Papal States: The Papal Legate over Lombardy directs general rebuilding to be undertaken throughout the region, and establishes basic governmental functions in the absence of a long-term government. The Prefect for the Missions grants the request of the Adelphinians of Essen, permitting them to establish a number of priories in Giapan, and sending them a number of books on the Giapanois language and people, as well as some priests who have visited the country who can instruct them and act as guides. In Japan, the Catholic hierarchy advise the locals against converting to the Korean Nestorian Church, saying it is schismatic and, well, korean. They also redouble their catechetical and missionary efforts in Japan, with the help of missionaries from Europe. Missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and South Africa, especially amongst the Zulus
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: With the Kingdom of Burgundy in full civil war the King and Farage decide to make their move and fight the Dutch threat, 30 ships and 5000 troops are raised and moved to Liverpool and told they are being sent to Ireland to put down a potential problem. In fact known only to a few they are going to be sent to Arcadia to attack the Burgundian colonies. The troops themselves are informed of the change of plans only once they are underway to keep a high degree of secrecy. The fleet commanded by now Admiral Boris Johnson sets off and starts with an attack on OTL Newfoundland before progressing to attack OTL Nova Scotia and then half the force goes to attack old colony of Avalon while the other half of the force goes to attack New Netherlands. With this all Burgundian colonies in Northern Arcadia are being attacked and seized due to their low population. Back in England once the task force has been deployed and news is expected to reach Burgundy shortly the Army is raised and assembled with 15,000 men going to Portsmouth, 25,000 men being held in London and 10,000 men in York while the Navy of 520 ships at Portsmouth is mobilised and the fortifications are readied. Once this is done we declare war on Burgundy while privateer on dutch merchant ships is ordered and England is prepared to fight the dutch once again. The English colonies force to survive on little food attempt to adapt their farming techniques to survive better.
  • African Sultanate of the Maghreb:  Sultan Hamish Al Farrok takes power begins to work on modernizing the army by requesting men from 17-36 to train in the army, as the navy is improved on to defend trading ships.Urban centers begin to grow as trading centers and means of living begin to spread mostly in cities on the coast. We send Muslims missionaries to Angola. Coastal cities are made into a hub of trading to help rise the pop. The Navy is worked on as Rabat is made a center of naval action, as Rabat is where most sailors are trained making a Rabat Naval school, that holds harsh rules). The Sultanate begin to work on mass producing Arms and begin to copy European way of growing food.We send a trade envoys, along with sending Imams to spread Islam in West Africa and to South Africa mostly in Benin to win them over. With the spread of Islam in Africa we send imams to help convert them faster, as we send some of there high imams to Rabat to study about Islam. The Mali invasion of Benine, causes the Sultan to yell "To Jihad, To Jihad To Jihad" in front of a crowd, we sent a force of 40,000 troops and 80 warships to help the Mali forces,The military force is put under Hamza Al Faruk an ex-African Slave that learned military training during his slavery. We also send money to other leaders in Benine in hope of s revolt (MOD).We begin to work on creating roads to ease trade routes. The Sultanate begin to expand into the Atlantic coast line by 15px. The city Algiers is made the capital of the Sultanate as its population grows,The 2nd biggest city is Rabat as Naval troops being to start families in the area. The Sultan begins to works on cities by opening markets and trading centers mostly at Algiers. The spread of Islam in Zaire is less about shoving it down people belief but more of gaining trust of people by giving out food and things like that, after gaining trust of people we begin to spread Islam into Ziyi (Kongo).Ali al Baba is ordered to work to make more improved ships to reach the new world, a prototype is made on paper .Our ships are sent to trade with Zaire,Mali, and tiny west African states.
    • Tajammad Emirate: The Emirate works on preparing for the cold seasons by collecting firewood during the summer. Walls and Houses are reworked on to defend the "Ansari" from animals. Hunting parties are sent to hunt down animals and eat them, while some are killed for there winter fur. A mosque is made called Al Hawqk and is made in hope of rivaling other Mashjids. we countinue trade with the Ona people by selling them Caliphate Swords and Bows and new Arms. Some of the Haush land is given to Tajamidan people to rule these areas are called "Forts".New World food is sent back home to be traded. Ali Bakr begins his trade with the Ona giving them more weaponry, with a victory more Forts are made. Nurllah is killed in a hunting "Accident" and Ali ibn Bakr is picked as Emir,Ali Bakr secretly give small pox covered items to the Ona people killing them, with the spread of smallpox across the Ona state Ali Bakr contunies his spread of smallpox. Our ships begin to train on how to sail the rocky seas to reach the Pacific Ocean. Due to the way of the New World women are given more physically as in helping create the wall or guarding areas. The port (not the best or biggest) of Tajammad is re made along with ocean defense walls and gun ports made along with 50 cannons. The population stands at 4,920 people with a slow rise in pop.

The Sultan of Mali Mansa Awae while excited about the outside help, demands that before utilization of the forces begins he wishes to integrate them into his own army corps rather than let the Maghrebi forces operate independently within the Sultans Campaign.

The Benin civil war gets bloodier as opportunistic tribesman from further north abuse the war to raid villages for valuables, captives, and resources. This begins to cause a breakdown in some of the frontier regions in West Africa as infrastructure and food production has been hampered enough to cause major food shortages.

In Eastern Europe after an extended regency due to the Tsars studies and his extensive evaluation of his kingdom, Tsar Constantine takes the throne of Poland promising to uphold Polish sovereignty. The Polish government notably has a restored Sejm but functions more like a parliament hoping to head off the insanity of Kings.

The Winter campaign while somewhat successful takes its toll on the Burgundian forces with nearly 15,000 dying. The suddeness assault of England on Burgundian Colonies and Shipping doubles the problem as money, trade goods, arms, and even food are all interdicted severely cutting down on the available food and resources available to both sides this year.

In the Sipho Zulu continues to fund the works of the europeans learning greatly as he has much of their knowledge transribed into the Zulu language in a royal library at the Capital. The Zulu kingdom continues to solidify control over its new conquests wiping out the final elements of Xhosa resistance, essentially enslaving them. The Zulu warrior traditions continue to become much more apparent in the fabric of the society.

In France, King Philip VII dies and is succeeded by his brother Charles IX. However, Charles dies within the year, starting a wee bit of madness. A Valois cadet, Henry, the Duke of Alencon, who is also the husband of the aunt of Kings Philip and Charles. However, the nearer relation by French succession law is the Prince Regent of Two Sicilies, who declares himself the rightful king of France. He raises the Sicilian army and goes to France to take the throne, where he is met with great enthusiasm.

The Pope is dying next year. Cologne, Prussia, the Hospitallers, Papal States, England, Iberia, and Burgundy: please cast your vote here  by the end of next turn.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: while the winter campaign was recognized as a risk, it is recognized that the ability to both claim the rebel encampments and the close proximity of Royalist sympathetic towns allowed more men to survive. Once more, the rebel army suffered worse, in a porportional manner, since it was forced to construct winter quarters from scratch in the midst of winter, reducing their overall strength falling from 23,000 to 11,000, with a large portion of that too weak from the events of winter to be considered effective. The gains made during the year, as well as England's attack on the Burgundian colonies, galvanizes the populace and increases support for the war effort. Burgundys own privateering campaign kicks off as winter comes to a close. With warmer temperatures arriving, plus fresh reinforcements, Prince Maurice's Army of Flanders and Duke Guise's Army of Champagne depart their winter quarters and march south, looking to reclaim the rest of Champagne and Comital Burgundy, the latter the last territory completely controlled by the rebels. To make matters worse for the rebels, the reverses they suffered last year, topped by Maurice's winter campaign, has caused them to be scraping to bottom of the proverbial barrel for their manpower. Once more, their imposition of old-style feudalism has caused significant unrest among the commoners. When the Army of Flanders marches victoriously into the town of Lure, after defeating the rebel army on its outskirts, they were met by cheering citizens, while it was the upper classes who looked upon them with distaste. After Lure, the Royal armies found quick successes at Vesoul and Montbeliard. It was only after a half hearted last stand at Dole, the de facto rebel capital, that the last 4,500 rebels under Count Lure surrendered to Duke Guise and Prince Maurice. With the rebellion defeated, a token force is left to occupy the more troublesome areas while the bulk of the army moves north towards the coast. Plans for reorganization of the army are made, but is withheld until the conclusion of the war with England. A blockade of England's major ports begins, as does the recruitment of volunteers for an expeditionary force to liberate the Arcadian colonies, but with England blockaded, it's decided to let the armies rest while those preparations are made.
Mix breading of western Muslims and Europenas with our natives continue to be very popular within the nation. We start to update our ports and incrase the size do to increase of sea trade with outside nations. The military starts to mimic European style of their militaries in every way. A new buddhist temple made of brass starts to be constructed in the capital city. Also the construction of a new library and college is in the works of being built.
    • For what reason, you have absolutely no reason to think the European style of warfare is any better. Specifically when you have never seen it in operation once -Feud
    • Do you realize you are a Chinese tributary right? Siam historically had a pro-Chinese stance, especially due to heavy historical Chinese settlement (about forty percent of Thais, almost half, have some Chinese ancestry; a ratio higher in the core of the country).
    • Muslim-European-Thai mix breading must be tatsy. How can a kind of breeding be popular ? What is it - interracial ?
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Vasili growing old but still remaining extremely sharp agrees after some prodding to utilize an old claim by the First Bulgar empire as well as citing greivances historically between pretty much every component identity of Belka with the Hungarians. This solidifies into a claim on Transylvania which Tsar Vasili acts on immediately raising nearly 100,000 troops and quickly beginning the invasion with advance forces pushing deep in before meeting resistance. The Tsar himself hoping to take part in one last adventure before he dies leads the forces into Transylvania. He marches through Transylvania relatively unopposed before meeting the Hungarian army at Banat. While the battle has begun Tsar Vasili turns over almost all administrative control to his Son Kaloyan who while surprised at the move is wholly prepared as he assume absolute control of the country, appointing his own advisors and ministers quickly, with many being former ministers of his father. The predominance of Belkan as a language becomes much more dominant as many forms become standard around the Empire with all of the major cities speaking it in a majority. It has become the dominant church, and buisiness language in the empire officially solidifying it among a large amount of the populace. The ease of this is helped by the fact it is mostly able to be understood by its core component groups out of Serbia, Bulgaria, and Vlacchia. The Tsar begins planning the imperial integration expedition to transylvannia as the process of Province building requires an effective and powerfully supported governmental force. The Belkan forces begin a major fortification campaign along the coast hoping to update or build new forts lining the Aegean turning the islands into impassable barriers. The Belkan tsardom begins debating on the annexation of Slovenia with it being considered more of an unpopular subject. While this is being decided however the first battles against the Hungarian forces begin with a series of battles occuring in the region surrounding Banat. Three engagements occur causing nearly 12,000 Casualties. The Tsar after solidifying an important tactical and somewhat strategic victory as the Belkan army occupies most of Transylvannia with only small western portions remaining in Hungarian hands due to their recent defeats. Tsar Vasili begins planning for the next phase of the Campaign planning on meeting the Hungarian army again and pushing them back towards Budepest.
  • Archduchy of Austria: Austria continues to improve its economy and modernizes its military, recruits more troops. Trade relations with England still improve, while buildings and villages are built as population slightly increases through. Fortifications is planned to be built in coming years, as it hopes to have a defense in case of any threats. Roads resume to be constructing as well in various cities.
  • Cologne: The population of Cologne continues to grow with thriving trade through the capital, and the militia force is upkept very well (but kept still distinctly medium-sized), with mercenaries becoming more commonplace. The book about circulation of the blood is studied in even greater detail, and academics at the University of Cologne begin to narrow out alternative theories to support the circulation of the blood theory in greater detail. Archbishop Baldrich continues to advocate for a peaceful future solution for all countries, with all League of Westphalen countries gaining the protection of either of the big powers. Secretly, he continues using his persuasive powers as Archbishop-Patriarch to reason with HRE nations to get them to join with Prussia to create a unified HRE – just as they are unified under God in Germany, under the Imperial Synod, they should remain unified if they are to declare their allegiance. It would be the logical thing to do, especially given the new HRE-wide road network that is 85% complete.
    • Essen: When the canoness working with the tailor in Essen, who has a stutter, comes to Isengard that year, she can only proudly proclaim that she has finally “taken the habits to Isengar – gar – gar - ga – gard – gard”. Abbess Isengard feels sorry for the poor canoness and ushers away the town criers in the crowd, telling them, “You shall not pass judgment on this poor woman. Only the Lord may judge her.” Meanwhile, the Tondoese Canoness’s Guide to Traditional Medicine has become a semi-favourite amongst all Adelphinian Canonesses worldwide, who are now particularly open to new methods of medicine given the effectiveness of some of these traditional cures. The Canonesses who go to Giapan go armed with His Holiness’s advice, and the knowledge in Abbess Isengard’s Guide for Missionaries, and one copy of the Tondoese Medicine text. When they arrive, they ask the Papal Missionaries in Giapan what seems to be the issue, and how they can help. Meanwhile, the integrated education system in the New World would be going well if not for the winters that force families to keep their children at home to help work the unfertile land. In pity, and with nothing much else to do, Adelphinian Canonesses begin to help work with the land, in a gesture of solidarity with the locals. Their habits are not quite heavy enough, so they work through the cold like the locals, but their aqua-blue veils can be seen across the fields, especially in Neu Deutschland. In their small amounts of downtime, some Canonesses begin to work on their ideas for how to best improve this situation – would it help to warm the land somehow, to allow the air less access to the fields? How might that be achieved? Ideas swirl around their heads even as their fingers freeze.
  • Aryavarta: Our navy of 200 ships continues to patrol in the Bay of Bengal. Roads continue to be improved and renovated. The fortification of Pushkalavati is completed. Fortification of the Satpura Range is ordered. Magadhi culture continues to exert its influence as North India develops a unified culture. Magadhi influence expands eastwards. The Treaty of Dhaka is signed. Bengal is annexed. The Bengali Royal Family is awarded hereditary governorship of Poorv Magadh (East Magadh erstwhile Bengal Sultanate).Hindi continues to assert itself and is now starting to dilute Punjabi. Meat consumption continues to increases steadily. Feudal power is declining with standardisation of rent rates, and rent and tax collection by officials. Many feudal houses start funding social services especially in Magadh. Proper schools and hospitals are built ny feudal houses. Haseem Akbarabadi becomes the first Muslim member of the council. The government adopts a more secular stance and the Hindu-Muslim divide begins to fade away as the Bhakti and Sufi movements spread. The Nestorian community exploits the backward condition of Bengal and start converting the poor Muslims and Hindus. Many people from Magadh begin resettling in Eastern Magadh. All construction work is halted. A massive development project for East Magadh is taken up by the Council. Workers and other people move to East Magadh for its reconstruction. With the unification of the Sunnis and Shias the government is more confident in the Muslims. Our population is 95 million. 75,000 troops and 50,000 mercenaries are posted in the west.
  • Deccan Sultanate: We declare war on Burgundy. An army of 200,000 troopd crosses the Adam's bridge and attacks Jaffna. Our army is led by our great General. We ask for help from th iphate and Swahili
    • I highly doubt Adams bridge could support a land invasion. Historically it only served as a nuissence for ships -Nate
  • Rashidun Caliphate: The scientific revolution continues. From the basis of calculus developed in recent years, a group of equations for describing the motions of the planets are developed as well. Astronomers discover the moons of Jupiter this year. In the House of Wisdom, secular scholars dissect corpses to have a better understanding of how the body functions, advancing in medicine. A new branch of philosophy begins to form in education, based on Euclidean proofs and Algorithms, which proposes a hierarchy of provable statements from First Principles. Caliph Ajead dies this year, and Hosna Ubaid is elected to succeed him. Missionaries are sent to the Zulu nation, as well as Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and the New World. The Caliph officially calls a Jihad against the Kingdom of Benin, and calls on all available Muslim nations to destroy that remaining nut of idolatry in west Africa. The Empire of Mali is given responsibility to organize the war, but they should respect the authority of the African Sultan, as if the Caliph himself said it.
    • Masqat and Oman to Rashidun: We humbly request the Caliphate's assistance in developing our military technology, especially artillery.
    • Iran: Iran offers the assistance instead.
  • Malaya: We ask for warmer relations with Siam. The Royal Navy has been beefed up to hold a total of 25 ships fitted with cannons and gunpowder arms. Agricultural activities continue to decline as tin mining is the new ideal occupation. Upgrades to infrastructure are approved in several cities. A new ideology has emerged from the melting pot of religions in Malacca, taking the name of Tuahism after a famous national figure. The religion is small but has recently gained many followers. It follows a set of principles based off Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and local practices. We send envoys to China and Korea to pick up more on the latest in Asian technology.
  • Maiam: The Native population continues to be plagued with bouts of Viral Hemorrhagic Fever. It is noted that individuals with European lineage are less effected by the sucepptable to the disease. This deals a large blow to the Nativist cause. Nativist and Loyalist conflicts quiet. Nativist and Loyalist conflicts continue in the farther regions of Maian territory, but the core territory of the Yucatan peninsula remains relatively free of conflict. Expansion continues along the southern border, focusing on the coast. Work continues to renovate and update existing buildings and roads and to create plans for future upkeep and renovations. There is some internal turmoil as the dominant Mayans impose their laws and culture on the conquered Mexica. Former Mexican royalty is forced to marry into Mayan lines. Small rebellions are put down. (Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.)
  • Pontus: We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi and Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. We begin developing the capital of Batumi further and give Trebizond many trading rights, to appease the Greek Pontic population. We continue trade links with Bulgaria and Russia. Due to Hitler's mania and posession by the Devil and the inaction of the major powers of the East, anti-Eastern Orthodox corruption and pro-Miaphysite propaganda continues to be spread by the government. We continue trade with Italy and offer to help Bulgaria with the new agricultural plans.
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: We offer Burgundy peace if they recognise our hold on Arcadia and we give them Farage land in Laurentia. Assuming Burgundy doesn't agree to peace we continue heavy piracy on Burgundian, Hanseatic and Prussian ships while attacks on their colonies in the OTL Caribbean are carried out with raids and burning led by Boris Johnson. This is intended to terrorise the people. The army is maintained in their positions. Taxes continued to be maintained to keep the costs of war going. The war in France is watched but with little interest because of the whole war going on. Smuggling efforts are continued out of major ports keeping Burgundian ships occupied. Envoys with some bribe money are sent to Austria, Bulgaria, Poland and League of Westphalia to encourage them to at least halt trade until peace is made (MOD and player Response) with the aggressive and dangerous German nations ruled by one King seeking to dominate their lands.
    • Burgundian Dip: Empress-Regent Elisabeth sends back a reply: "I've not yet begun to fight.".
    • Westphalia thinks this is a great idea. -scraw
    • Austrian Dip: We stopped the trade with Prussia as they're posing much bigger threat to Austria and could break Austrian's reputation of Prussia.
      • Bandon, Burgundy is in a personal union with Prussia. -Guy
      • Oh didn't know that, thanks for clarifying me. -Bandon
  • Masqat and Oman: Khalid Yaruba dies this year. He is succeeded by Junaid al-Munassif, the son of Taamir al-Barakat. Junaid's heir will be of Nabhani and Yaruba blood, effectively uniting the two dynasties. The Burgundian naval assistance has finally paid off, as the Omani fleet is brought to its full strength again. Much of the Omani navy is outfitted in the Burgundian style, its effectiveness having been proven in the Rashidun War. King Junaid commissions a fleet to expel the pirates from the Persian Gulf, driving them to Gujarat, Socotra, and Seychelles. He also orders the reconstruction or renovation of three forts: One in the village of Nakhal, west of Muscat (the site of the old fort) to defend the Al Hajar Mountains; the second in the town of Rustaq, at the foot of Jebel Akhdar (an expansion and renovation of the existing fort); the third at Al Hujra in Sohar. The Grand Imam begins to take a larger role in the Ibadi faith, sending missionaries to Berbera, Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. He calls for a French withdrawal from Indonesia, fearing they will try to convert the Ibadis there (especially in Ibadi-majority Java).
  • Papal States: Pope Innocent's health continues to deteriorate, and the Vicar-General begins preparations for his rapidly approaching death. The Adelphinian canonesses in Giapan are asked to establish schools, not only for the general education of the young, but also to educate adults (both Catholics and those interested in the faith) on the beauty of the faith.
Ta force of 40,000 troops and 80 warships to help the Mali forces,The military force is put under Hamza Al Faruk, Hamza tells the Mali Sultan that they are willing to let the Mali Sultan take charge of the Maghrib force only if Hamza is allowed to take charge of parts of the war plan, but not to forget that they came in to help the Malian Sultanate with troops and defending there homeland, and not to use them as dummies to be shot at.We begin to work on creating roads to ease trade routes.
The population stands at 5,020 people with a slow rise in pop.

1622

The Sultan of Mali refuses the Maghrebi request saying "they serve with my men under me, or they don't serve at all". He says this as he raises a massive 100,000 man army to march on Benin hoping to seize or liberate border regions full of muslims.

In Benin, the factions clash in the largest battle of the war. The two Emperors, as well as three of the Empire's highest-level nobles who struck out on their own, all collided in a multi-sided battle. Of the nearly 600,000 participants, 200,000 are wounded or killed.

In Eastern Europe, the Polish continue to rebuild as the policies of the Tsar and his Sejm start to make progress.

In Central Asia, the Khanate now having a significant nestorian population continues to settle down with areas crucial to farming availability beginning to be exploited.

  • Kassel / Thuringia: Maurice Albert von Thuringia-Kassel is setting his primary title as Duke of Kassel. The provience of Kassel would be formed. Which is west of Thuringia. Thuringia would replace Hesse OTL. Kassel City would be capital of Kassel. Coronation takes place as the Order of Saint Ferdinand. The flag would be the dynasty's, city's coat of armies. Kasselian people don't mind this change. The economy grows as normal and international relations stay the same. So does the religion. We are looking forward for the new Pope, we hope its Cologne and not Burgundy or Prussia. Agricultural farming continues to improve.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: The scientific revolution continues, with astronomers continuing to model and understand the motions of the nearby planets. In this year, a theory is developed concerning the infinity of the universe, supposing that the fixed stars are actually other suns with their own planets and civilizations. The Ulema is weary of such theories, that could suggest other Caliphs exist on these planets as well, but they allow this research to continue. In the House of Wisdom, chemists begin to isolate individual elements with new processes, abandoning the classical theories of four elements. Some scholars begin to investigate the affliction of cholera, that plagued the Caliphate in recent decades and still affect communities today. In Mecca, the annual Hijra entertains pilgrims from across the subjects of the Caliph, from Tiliya to Morocco and Pontus, Crimea and Gujarat to Andaman and Sumatra. Trade is extended with missionaries to the Zulu nation, Java, and the New World, as well as the European nations of France and Venice. In West Africa, the Caliph orders Mali to allow the African Sultan to send his troops in the war. Mali is reminded that not only does Morocco hold the largest supply of food and trade to Mali, and monopolizes the caravan trade and defense of the Hijra, but also trained Mali's military which they now use in the war. Moreover, the African Sultan is the appointed minister for these matters as directed by the Caliph, the successor of the Prophet. Also, in this struggle against the idolaters in Benin, Mali should take all the help it can get.
    • Sultanate of Sumatra: After several decades of gradual integration and influence, Sumatra's government is fully organized and centralized as a vassal of the Caliphate. The seat of government is centered at the city of Palembang, utilizing the same palace of the original Melayu dynasty that ruled the island. The lower ministers of the government are then modeled to mirror the Ulema of the Caliphate. The military is built up, but much more emphasis is built on the navy constructed at the port of Jambi. Trade from this port increases across Indonesia, and the Sultan is payed a lucrative salary from this trade. Urbanization spreads to the interior of the island to increase the population. The Ayatollah of Palembang oversees the spread of Islam in Indonesia.
    • Sultanate of Aceh: Ruled by the prestigious Syah dynasty, the Sultanate of Aceh becomes the hub of trade and immigration crossing from the Indian to Pacific Oceans. The Sultan is payed a lucrative salary for maintaining this trade, in competition with the Kingdom of Malaya next door. Emphasis is put on military and navy. The Caliphate provides the most advanced muskets, frigates, and other military hardware to help improve Aceh's military. Science and art are brought from the middle east to influence their culture as well. Large numbers of Muslim immigrants from Arabia live in Aceh on their way to trade with East Asia. Domestically, Aceh mines storehouses of tin and sends them to the Middle East. Aceh secretly employs privateers to disrupt the trade of Burgundy.
    • Sunda Emirate: The farthest outpost of the Caliphate's realm, the Sunda Emirate works to build up its navy to support the trade of Sumatra.
    • Andaman Emirate: A minority of immigrants come into Andaman and establish trade across the islands. The navy coordinates with Chittagong, Aceh and Sumatra to establish a contiguous barrier of tariffs in the Bengal Bay.
    • Gujarat Sultanate: The navy and military is built up. The Ayatollah of Ahmedbad oversees the spread of Islam in India. the Sultan's ministers are based on the Ulema of the Caliphate. Trade increases. Cotton becomes the main industry, and is exported mainly to Egypt and Arabia.
  • Archduchy of Austria: As economy and military resumes in improvement while military recruits more troops. The trade relations with others is ongoing, with England sending bribe money to encourage us is a good idea, which could improve Austria's reputation. Although the fortifications are built in Austria, as it looks to have a defense of an closer threat to the north. The villages and buildings is constructed as the population begins to rise slightly.
We try not to get influenced by them. Mix breading of western Muslims and Europeans with our natives continue to be very popular within the nation. We start to update our ports and increase the size do to increase of sea trade with outside nations. A new Buddhist temple made of brass continues to be constructed in the capital city. Also the construction of a new library and college is continuing to being built.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: With reinforcements supplied and the men rested, Empress-Regent Elisabeth authorizes the Burgundian counter-offensive against England. A series of quick raids, emulating Boris Johnsons' terror raids, along English coastal cities such as Scarborough, Yarmouth, and Plymouth cause much damage to the local infrastructure. While the frightening of the English populace is a secondary goal, the primary purposes of the raids are to spread the English forces thin trying to defend too many positions, and to distract them from the primary goal, the liberation of the Arcadian colonies. In total, 20,000 men and 100 ships are committed. A force of 5,000 troops, split in half, seize both New Gwynedd and New London, while the other 15,000 attack English occupied Avelskamp and Nova Belgica, defeating the garrisons there. After liberating those colonies, the expeditionary force moves down the otl St. Lawrence river and attacks the English occupying Kobec. In a brief battle, those English men are defeated, after which the expeditionary force sails to New Netherlands and attacks the English occupiers there. The battle includes the naval detachments of both sides, and in the end Burgundy emerges victorious. To round out the year, a 500 strong regiment detached from the expeditionary force occupies Farageland. With England accepting Burgundys counter-proposal for peace, there is a week of celebration declared throughout the kingdom. The Royal army is shrunk to a peacetime level of 15,000 men, and much of the galleon fleet is mothballed, all attempts to reduce expenditures and rid the reliance on the treasury reserves the Civil War and the war with England had forced on the government. Farageland is incorporated as a province of Guyana, retaining its name while Borisville is renamed Lauwensbuerg, after the explorer Laurentia is named for.
    • Kingdom of Ceylon: Although the civil war has ended, the ongoing war with England has the Colonial Guard remain on alert.
  • Russia: We Continue to expand 40px in Siberia. Many of the Czars less faithful advisors begin plotting to kill the "Mad Czar" Ivan. The key to the planned coup against the Czar is Count Vladimir von Putin, the Czars top military advisor. Work on the Kremlin continues. What puts the coup off for later was the Czars sudden order of death of a diplomat to the Rashidun, Andrei Karlov on the charges of treachery for conversing with the enemy.
  • Papal States: Pope Innocent VIII dies of old age, and the machine of the College of Cardinals creaks into action. The Cardinal-Archbishop of Cologne arrives in Rome and is feted by the conservative Angelicum faction, who sing the priases of the 'Hammer of the Heretics'. Predictably, he is considered papabile. Missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and Southern Africa, especially amongst the Zulus
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: We offer peace under the conditions of returning to pre- war borders. Assuming the Germans will not deal the English troops maintain their position as it is impossible to defend the whole coast and people are told to move away from the coastal cities due to the vicious Burgundian troops while more ships are sent out to hit enemies colonies and trading vessels. We encourage the League of Westphalia, Austria and Poland to strike out at the German King (Player and MOD response). The fall of the colonies is expected and while bad news it is all expected in this great war against A hegemonic German dominated European Kingdom. The colonies are told to resist indirectly such as refusing to pay taxes and launching small raids against the occupiers. The English fleet sorties out against any small isolated German ships it can find as they are trying to blockade the whole coast and raid spreading them out allowing defeat in detail. A campaign of propaganda by english scholars is done against the German King claiming they intend to take over Europe.
    • Austrian Dip: We agree with England, as Austria sees a good idea to strike out the German King.
    • English Dip: Wait until we have news from Poland and League of Westphalia before making any actual moves into German lands.
    • Burgundian Dip: Burgundy counter offers with the sole concession being Farageland, for which Burgundy will provide compensation in the form of gold, goods, and the return of English warships captured in this war and the last one with England.
    • English Dip: We agree to hand over Fargae land.
  • Korea: Acknowledging its central position in overland Eurasian trade, envoys are sent the Khanate to establish formal diplomatic relations, noticing that both the Khanate and Korea adhere to Nestorian Christianity (albeit its two main East Asian branches have diverged greatly due to the amalgamation of Oriental beliefs) (MOD RESPONSE). Also noticing that Sakha could be used as a buffer to Tatar raiders to the North, another group of envoys are sent to Sakha pledging to provide financial support in its expansion if it exits the Japanese tributary system (and enters China's) (MOD RESPONSE). With an impeding wave of Islamicization in Indonesia, the Korean Nestorian Church sends missionaries to Majapahit hoping to Christianize the locals into Nestorian faith; hoping that the syncretic qualities of it would make it a more lucrative religion than Islam. With such an abundance of bullion within the national treasury, the imperial court decides to patronize these missionary campaigns. However, as it does not want to upset the Confucianist plurality, it still maintains no official state religion. The colony of Haegajang in Papua New Guinea continues territorial expansion, with a few more colonists shipped to the area, lifting the total population to two thousand settlers. To satisfy the religious needs of the settlers, a church is built. However, a raid committed by locals threatened by the clearing of the forest for arable land leaves the church in ashes. As a result, the Governor–General decrees an edict stating that should any local be caught, males should be shot while women and children held captive as a solid reminder of their inferiority. Seeking a foothold in the spice trade, and by doing so gain another source of revenue, the local sovereigns (vassals that administer under the name of the suzerain) of Sulawesi are offered the aegis of Korea as long as it converts into Christianity and secedes from Majapahit (MOD RESPONSE). A chest full of bullion and a statue of Jesus is gifted to the rulers, while sacks of rice and food are given to local farmers to entice their support. The exploitation of vast tracts of Manchurian arable land continues, with wheat and soy being grown as the principal crops. With increased export earnings (specializing on the exportation of porcelain, weaponry and armoury, and silk) and the usage of gold to peg the paper currency, the government uses its reinvigorated wealth to fund modernization programs; developing the Nakdeong and Han River canals and paving roads. Meanwhile, commerce is promoted whilst industrial complexes and the navy are both intensively developed.
    • Majapahit collapsed years ago. It is independent now. I think.
    • Majapahit collapsed but it still persists as a rump state. Again, since Majapahit is a mandala (a type of feudal government common in maritime Southeast Asia at the time), Sulawesi is de facto independent in the sense it has sovereignty and control of internal affairs, but its rulers are de jure vassals of a central figurehead or suzerain that due to geographic constraints, can only properly exercise their administrative powers in the Empire's "core".
  • Deccan Sultanate: With a Burgundian naval absence an army of 200,000 supported by 1200 ships lands at Jaffna. Crushung the 5000 strong garrisson. Our army led by a Great General moves towards Colombo. Economy continues to be improved. This turn is dedicated to fortifying the east coast. The vassal state of Maldives is fully incorporated into the Sultanate.
  • Aryavarta: Trade with the Chagatai, Burma, Tibet and China increases. Advancements in optics and mathematics continue to be made. The council allows the University of Patliputra to conduct human dissections. Our population is 100 million. The religious break-up is 75% (Shaiv-Vedic-Shakti), 5% (Charvak), 5% (Animist and Other Hindu sects), 6% (Muslims), 2%(Buddhists), 1%(Zoroasters), 0.5%(Nestorians) and 0.5% (Jains). The population of Patliputra, Delhi and Gaya increases. Roads are built and renovated. Cobblestone paths are laid down in the cities. The government secures permission for road construction to tribal villages from the tribal chiefs. This leads to greater contact between tribal communities. Slowly a uniform tribal culture with Shakti influences starts to develop. This facilitates inland trade. The governement hires Banjara tribesmen for transport of food grains. The naval size is increased from 200 to 600 ships (Currently 300). Our navy continues to patrol in the Gulf of the Ganges (Bay of Bengal). As we now have access to ex-Bengali ports and shipbuilding. Full equipment of the navy is expected to be completed in 1630. Gorkhas and Jats are being recruited. The Police branches out. Each province has a police. The Police Director of each province is chosen by the Governor of the province. These Police Directors form a committee which meets bi-annually. They elect the head of Police from amongst themselves and this Head is given a seat in the Council. Banks open up in Patliputra, Gaya and Hemgarh. The fortification of Ujjain is ordered. Reconstruction of smaller towns continues. The reconstruction of Dhaka is ordered. Development projects in East Magadh continue. Manufactories continue to produce weapons and firearms along with artillery. The army and navy is placed on high alert. An army of 300,000 is posted along the Iranian-Sindh border while an army of 300,000 is posted along the Gujarat-Bahmani border with 50,000 mercenaries (10,000 Khalsai Volunteers armed by themselves according to their tradition). The armories have a surplus of arms and more are being produced. We have a max army size of 750,000 (0.0075 of a 100 Million population). There are 3 major fortified cities namely - Burhanpur (Bahmani), Udaipur (Gujarat and Sindh) and Pushkalavati (OTL Peshawar, Iran). A reading public develops. Collections of folk tales and other stories are widely popular as novels begin to emerge.
  • OOC: Population growth rate is way to high. that's over 5%
  • 90 mil was before we had Bengal.
  • No, you have only 50-60 million, so your forces are half that much -Nate
  • Nate is correct and looking at Indias demography it had 100 million in 1600 and stayed relatively steady. On top of this Thats for all of India which means you at beast control 45-50 million in your home territory. On top of that your growth rate is ridiculous. Consider this a Plausibility Strike -Feud
  • Cologne: Archbishop Baldrich of Cologne is saddened by the news of His Holiness Pope Innocent VIII’s death, and travels immediately to Rome in his capacity as a Cardinal. Once there, he is greeted with much enthusiasm (to his own surprise, in fact!). Baldrich is incredibly humble, but at the same time equally enthusiastic to be a Cardinal in Rome, to enjoy the history of the institution. When this Conclave finishes, he hopes to spend time in the streets of Rome, finding out what the people are like. He worries about his people in Cologne, but he knows that Vicar-General Wikbold V has it all under control. In Cologne this year, the Vicar-General continues Baldrich’s work with the League of Westphalen, convincing all nations to eventually gain the protection of one of the big states for their own good. Secretly, Wikbold V continues to convince HRE nations to join with Prussia to keep all Germans unified. The HRE-wide road network continues to be built. Trade struggles, given the situation with Burgundy and England, and Wikbold begins to think about what Cologne should do when trade does not serve it well. Mercenaries grow to be commonplace within the Cologne Militia.
    • Essen: The Adelphinian Canonesses in Giapan thank the Papal missionaries and establish schools for the young first, with Canonesses immediately getting to work on creating an integrated education plan in the way it was created in the New World. However, since the Japanese people have a more established culture and history, Adelphinian Canonesses ask to meet with Japan’s foremost scholars or cultural and academic leaders in order to work together on this plan for education. (Japan, please reply) Such a plan will lead towards the greater prosperity of both cultures together, through enriching the minds of young people in Japan with the worldly experience of the Adelphinian Canonesses. Meanwhile, there are also plans for a small college or university in the pipeline, as requested by His Holiness’s missionaries. Meanwhile, Canonesses in the New World continue to work with the male arts and assist the general population through the hard winters, working frantically during the summer with all their academic abilities to find a better method of farming in the winter. Eventually, they decide to send a letter to the University of Essen (and Cologne) to ask for assistance in this task. Finally, Canonesses in Tondo continue to capitalise upon the royalties from the Tondoese Traditional Medicine book, putting all funds directly back into the community, assisting with education and health levels among the local people.
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Vasili having been wounded in one of the battles remains on alert but his health is noticeably failing. While generally not life threatening his advanced age has made the slice on his thigh a much harder wound to heal from and he deduces the need to finish the war with Hungary and conducts a campaign into Royal Hungary taking the fight outside the city of Oradea as well to the Pannonian plains. Both of these battles lead to Belkan victories, and the pushing of the Hungarian army north and west completely out of all the Contested Territory. The Tsar instead of campaigning further offers peace to the Hungarians demanding the Annexation of Transylvania as well as the establishment of a small war indemnity (mod). The empire continues to further integrate as the Belkan language (modern Slavonic) begins to take more commanding control of the Imperial Lingua Franca. The Belkan population reaches 9.25 million but the integration of nearly 650,000 people from Transylvania the population will be nearer to 10 million. The imperial engineers begin looking at modernizing the Theodosian walls to make them much more cannon resistant.
    • Hungary capitulates with these demands in order to spare their core nation -Natemod

Chocolate becomes very popular in England and Iberia, imported from the colourful coco confectionaries of Maiam. Mysteriously, rotting teeth become a problem among the upper nobles of England and Portugal simultaneous to this.

The potato explodes in western Europe, growing like fire in northern France and Burgundy.

As the scientific revolution spreads from the middle east through eastern Europe, the scientific method is fully adopted, leading to new discoveries in anatomy and mathematics. One book of the human femer published in Poland is so long, the author also invents the index for it.

A general revolt, primarily fueled by the Maratha people of southwest Aryavarta, breaks off from the Maharaja to create the Maratha Empire. The impetus for this revolt is a large group of prominent relatives of former nobles from Aryavarta, feeling their power callously taken away by the elective system. They quickly gain support from some military as the Rajput warriors felt their confederacy was wrongfully annexed by the Maharaja. The Maratha Empire controls areas of about 20 million people.

This has some complaints I moved to the talk page -Nate

Consequently, Bengal gains independence as well, taking the area of west Bengal down to the coast that they once had. Bengal quickly reaches out to western European nations such as Burgundy to ally with their nation in exchange of selling them a port city.

In China, the Haijin policy causes great strain on the economy, and the bullion of the Emperor begins to run thin. As a result, murmuring in the northern provinces causes some states to want to withdraw their allegiance to the more stable nation of Korea.

The Chagatai Khanate entertains ministers of Korea at the immense and glorious palace of Kashgar, and welcomes diplomatic relations. Sakha secretly begins playing both ends in the middle between Korea and Japan, while Sulawesi is not interested.

In France, the Duke of Alencon is crushed by the King of Sicily. However, the Alenconese side turn to the exiled British dude who was the brother in law of King Philip and proclaim his son Henry their new king. As they continue to hold Paris and northern areas of France, the war continues.

  • Iran: Shah Sooran Zendehnoosh announces he is handing over the vassal of Banten to the Caliphate. Notably, the Shah ditches his title of Shahanshah and hands it over to the Rashidun Caliph, giving the Rashidun Cailph another title. He cites the reason for doing this as because the Caliphate is a much more powerful nation and has superiority over Iran, as it is the Caliphate. Zendehnoosh offers to host the crownation of the Rashidun caliph as the Shahanshah in Iran. (Nate plz respond).
    • The Caliph is immensely honored by this nomination, and glady accepts the prestigious offer to be Shahanshah, a title taken by such noble names as Dhul Al-Qaynan and Sekandar
  • Russia: The plotters of the coup go through with it. With soldiers storming the ministry of the secret police. In the royal palace Czar Ivan stands up to the Minster of Peasant Affairs Baron Ulyanov. The Czars loyal soldiers fire upon the plotters. Soldiers of the coup fire back killing the Mad Czar in the crossfire. Meanwhile angry peasant soldiers, children during the civil war, bent with anger kill the heir to the Throne Zakev and the children along with Czarina Katushka. With not heir to the throne and basically the majority of the Rurik Family dead, Count Vladimir von Putin is offered the throne; he accepts. Vladimir von Putin is coroneted as Czar Vladimir II of the Czardom of Russia. First of the Putin Dynasty. Vladimir begins to make aggressive military maneuvers. He as a general is still convinced of Georgian treachery and puts small groups of soldiers on the border. Vladimir also begins to a building program to the Baltic and Black Sea Fleets. The Czar also sets 1,000 soldiers on the straits near Crimea. We continue to expand in Siberia at a new 50px. Work on the Kremlin continues. Vladimir also begins to liberalize on some of the laws for peasants easing rights. However those of homosexuality are to be executed once found out. The Czar also begins to preach that someday, Russia will wage a "Great Patriotic War" against hostile powers to the west. Scholars in the schools and churches of Novgorod begin to record the History of Russia. Many events such as the Civil War will be known as the civil war but also as "The Revolution" and Czar Ivan as the "Great Satan" who was sent to destroy Russia.
  • Papal States: Habemus Papam! The crowds in St Peter's Square look up at the balcony and are greeted by the already popular Archbishop Baldrich of Cologne, still wearing his trademark sandals, who is announced to the world as Pope Zachary II. His comparatively uncommon choice of name, according to his close friends, is due to his particular devotion to the holy relic of the 'Holy Sandals of Christ' from his home abbey of Prüm, which were donated by the original Pope Zachary. After giving the Apostolic blessing urbi et orbi, the new Pope decides to explore Rome, a city he has -remarkably- never actually visited before. That evening, dressed as an ordinry priest, he explores the streets of the Eternal City, returning home to the Lateran Palace by daybreak. The following day Frederico Cardinal Einaudi, the Patriarch of the Latin Rite, grants Pope Zachary II, the 'Hammer of the Heretics', his delegated power over the Latin Rite, saying that it will be in a safe, orthodox pair of hands. The Prefect of the Inquisition, hearing of exploding potatoes in Western Europe, establishes a small team of Inquisitors to determine whether this very dangerous-sounding plant is indeed safe to consume. In other news, the Legate of Lombardy begins establishign a normal administrative system over the territory. Missions in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and Southern Africa (especially amongst the Zulus) continue
    • Lol, I know my tounge-in-cheek mod events have disrupted things in the past, but this time I didn't literally mean potatos were exploding. I just meant they were spreading very quickly, instead of in Ireland as otl -Nate
    • Lol I know, don't worry, my plan is for the Inquisitor to have to bashfully step down next turn. -Cal
  • Archduchy of Austria: As economy and military resumes in improvement while military recruits more troops. Fortifications continue to built in case of the upcoming threats. Trade relations improve with England and others, while population in Austria is slightly increasing with buildings constructing in Vienna.
  • Maiam: Chocolate exports skyrocket as demand from England and Iberia increases. The internal conflict grinds to a close, as many of the Nativist forces were wiped out by disease or captured by loyalist forces. Maiam, while still largely native Mayan and Mexican, has a large plurality of Europeans, and an even larger mixed-race population.
  • Kingdom of England, Ireland and Scotland: With the death of the King of Scotland, King Richard of England becomes the King of Scotland as well because he is the heir. He has a son William. With the next war over and again losing to the Germanic empire the King encourages the writing of scholarly material against the Germanic unification and empire. The loss of Farage land was small but infuriating and the failure to retake English lands in Arcadia leads to a sense of anger. The Kingdom of Scotland is brought into personal union with England and the King goes north to start work on developing Scotland with a program of agricultural improvement and construction of canals and roads. Construction is also started on new defences at Edinburgh castle (strategic fortress) and the expansion of the defences of Edinburgh castle is expected to take 10 years. Continued migration to the colonies occurs with Scotland now also providing colonists while Farage land is evacuated and burnt to the ground. New Canterbury, New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia are all expanded 25px. With the spread of potatoes they are brought over to England and cultivated. With the spread of chocolate and people's like for it an effort is made to obtain more while the decay of teeth is supposed to be solved by applying sugar to the teeth and so demand for sugar also grows and the colonies so benefit. England has 4.4 million people, Ireland has 1.3 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. Trade relations are requested to be established with the Maratha and the purchase of a port city from Bengal as well as an alliance (MOD Response).
    • Bengal offers a 99 year lease on Chittagong and agrees to an alliance. -scraw
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: economic recovery continues, but its expected to take several more years to reach pre-war levels. At the very least, the deficit spending Burgundy has been forced to undertake has fallen from its immediate post-war height. For the time being, expansion is halted in most colonies, though several expeditions are made deeper into Guyanas unsettled territory in search of more gold. In response to Bengals request, the Burgundian East India Company requests the purchase of Kolkata in exchange for an alliance with Bengal (mod response pls). Back home, the trials of the nobles who took part in the rebellion, now being called the "Southern Revolt", takes place. As expected, many are found in various levels of guilt and sent to be executed. The one people take interest in is the trial of the Count of Lure, general in chief of the rebel army. In recognition of his tactical and strategic thinking, he's sentenced to time served, and to remain an advisor to the royal army. The States General, using the Mandate claimed by the victories in the revolt and against England, pass sweeping administrative reforms, abolishing feudalism and reorganizing the territory into a United system of provinces (though old feudal boundaries are used for simplicity's sake), power is centralized into the States General and the Crown, creating a system in which one cannot act without the consent of the other. The Army also sees reforms, as the vestiges of feudalism are stripped, and individual provinces are tasked with recruitment and mobilization within their jurisdiction. This creates a new naming system for regiments, in which they bear the name of the province they originate (ex.: 13th Flanders Infantry, 4th Nevers Cavalry).

      • Burgundian Dip: the offer is accepted.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: The scientific revolution continues, with new discoveries coming out almost daily. Astronomers at the House of Wisdom discover the planet Uranus, and catagorize it as a new planet closer than the fixed stars. The theory of the infiniteness of the universe continues to take hold. In chemistry, the element chlorine is fully isolated. Art and literature continue to be made. The current Caliph Dhul Al-Qaynan, having accepted the title of Shahanshah of Persia, goes to Esfahan to partake of the coronation. A grand ceremony is called together, with trinkets and dances and music from across the Muslim World from Sunda to Tiliya, Crimea to Ethiopia. This is the first time since Al-Najm the Great that a Caliph entered the city of Esfahan. The Caliphate secretly sends support and diplomats to Java, asking to support them if they broke away from the French during their succession crisis. 2,000 troops are sent into Crimea, with permission of Pontus, to strengthen the border with Russia.
With our new strategy, piracy has been quickly quelled especially after a major battle between 200 pirate ships and 150 official ships. The battle began when pirate ships swarmed a major trade convoy protected by 40 Navy ships, while the pirates held an advantage at first, the mobile navy was able to arrive soon enough and together with enlisted demolition fishing rafts, was able to sink most of the pirate ships and capture multiple captains.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We send a support of 30 ships to Jaffna to help them against the Burgundians.

A great famine throughout most of China threatens the lives of millions of people, forcing many bands of merchants to mutiny and turn into massive hordes of bandits. Among these hordes, one Zhang Licheng of the E state becomes the most prominent and dangerous of the gang lords, gathering an army of hundreds of thousands.

Potatos are still potatos.... I'm not sure what else you expected.

Maratha remains an independent state, although it suffers from being economically inferior to its opposite number. The port of Bulsar, under its nominal control, is sold to England to imrpove its economy. The population is 10 million.

A great fire springs up in Athens.

  • Archduchy of Austria: Population in Austria slightly grows, but it doesn't expect to be higher, whilst military recruits more troops as it's modernized. Buildings in Vienna are constructed, with roads as well for future trades. Trade relations continue to improve with others, as it looks to benefit better in coming years. Farms in Austria are continuing to produce for food productions.\
  • Malaya: Our gracious king has sadly passed away. Prince Omar II becomes the new king of Malaya. He announces the official religion of Malaya be Tuahism, and begins construction of new cities in the eastern states. A national day of mourning is declared and the usually bustling capital is quiet in honor of the late king. We begin farming potatoes after it being introduced in markets. There is small discontent among the heavily Islamic and Christian communities, and small protests occur over the new official religion. Trade ships begin construction as we decide to bring the Asian market to Europe. Ships loaded with Asian products set sail to Europe to potentially increase trade status and overall economy.
  • Korea: With China seemingly falling into various cliques and factions, biannual tributary missions are temporarily suspended. However, trading relations persist with shipments of gold and grains being sent in an effort to help stabilize the country. Meanwhile, a series of hastily-built fortifications are erected along the Sino–Korean borders to prevent the chaos from spilling into Korea. The rapid Christianization of the country continues, with most followers of Christianity adhering to the Nestorian Church. An edict is proclaimed officially upholding Nestorian Christianity as the state religion, however allows followers of other faiths to continue doing so. Meanwhile, attempts to reform the caste system are futile (with nobles unwilling to give out land), and thus the cheonmin (serf or tenants) caste is reestablished while yangban. However, previous laws ostracizing them and preventing their advancement on the social ladder (by barring their participation in government exams) are repealed, truly making Korea a true meritocracy. Noting scientific stagnation in China, modern scientific models and theories (obtained from overseas scholars in the Caliphate and Europe) are standardized within imperial examination, which now emphasizes science and mathematics over philosophy. The exploitation of vast tracts of Manchurian arable land continues, with wheat and soy being grown as the principal crops. However, sweet potatoes are grown in land not suitable for traditional grains, further adding to the large food surplus. With increased export earnings (specializing on the exportation of porcelain, weaponry and armoury, and silk) and the usage of gold to peg the paper currency, the government uses its reinvigorated wealth to fund modernization programss. Meanwhile, commerce is promoted (facilitated by the division of labour) whilst industrial complexes and the navy are both intensively developed.
    • Not actually industrial, right? I know it can be a semantic issue. True industrialization isn't until the 18th century -Nate
    • What I refer to are blast-furnaces and workshops (as the factory model has yet to be popularized and supplant the putting–out system until the late 18th century).
  • Tsardom of Belka: Following the victory of Belka over the Hungarian kingdom, movement to secure war indemnities as well as outright annexing all the territory turns into an occupation of some of Hungary's eastern territories as they build up the necessary infrastructure and governing structure in Transylvania. Tsar Vasili "The Great" Dacultesti is mourned throughout the empire and a huge ceremony is held interning him in the Imperial Mauseleum along side his ancestors. The former Tsars Child Kaloyan now the Tsar in his own right pushes the usual Agenda for the development of new provinces as the Imperial road system begins to be brought into Transylania. The Modern Belkan language pushes further into the facets of the Belkan society as a more cohesive national identity begins to ride up out of the framework of the Belkan empire. The unification of the various ethnicities into one Royal Family under the Dracultesti family is able to claim something unique, being children of all the considered South Slav peoples claiming it as a source of prestige, and something to be proud of. The city of Athens after being caught up in a massive fire is subject to some of the most extensive damage. 50,000 people perish in the Athenian fires nearly halving the cities population in just a single week. Tsar Kaloyan addresses the issue quickly and immediately puts to work of rebuilding the city. However as more of the slavic denizens of the empire inhabit the city its name unofficially starts to become known as Attinograd.
  • Maiam: Chocolate exports skyrocket as demand from England and Iberia increases. The internal conflict grinds to a close, as many of the Nativist forces were wiped out by disease or captured by loyalist forces. (Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.)
  • Rashidun Caliphate: As the Caliphate continues its scientific revolution, the theory of the universe being infinite is more readily adopted, and mathematical models are developed to calculate distances between stars. The element platinum is isolated by the scholars of chemistry. A new edition of universal history is published, calculating the exact dates of Creation, the Flood, the Birth of Abraham, the Crowning of Cyrus, and the Coming of Islam. These dates were calculated using passages from the Quran and other holy texts, along with anceint inscriptions from Egypt and Mesopotamia. In addition, the field of medicine expands greatly, with detailed paintings and etchings made on the inside organs of the human body. As a result of these findings, medical procedures to medicate illnesses are greatly improved. One scholar, Khalid Al-Ab, begins studying the spread of cholera in limited communities, documenting how it might be contained. 2,000 troops remain stationed in Crimea. The Jihad against Benin is still in effect. Trade continues in East Asia, enhanced by the new navies of Aceh and Jambi. The Caliphate continues to send secret diplomacy to Java about the situation with France's succession crisis. Trade continues to build up around the outposts of Andaman and Chittagong, as well as Lakhadshweep and Gujarat. Piracy is condemned, and pirates outside of the privateers are hung, in conjuction with the efforts of Swahili. Missionaries are sent into central Africa and East and Southeast Asia. With the growing adoption of contracted servitude in the last 20 years, slavary is completely outlawed within the personal domians of the Caliphate. The population has reached 58 million.
  • Kingdom of England, Ireland and Scotland: King Richard continues to rule Scotland in addition to England and Ireland. With the next war over and again losing to the Germanic empire the King encourages the writing of scholarly material against the Germanic unification and empire. The loss of Farage land was small but infuriating and the failure to retake English lands in Arcadia leads to a sense of anger. Continued work on developing Scotland is made with canals, agricultural improvements and work on Edinburgh castle and defences. Continued migration to the colonies occurs with Scotland now also providing colonists. New Canterbury, New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia are all expanded 25px. Taxes are maintained at a steady rate to keep a healthy English treasury. Trade relations are improved with Austria, League of Westphalia and Poland while in Asia trade grows with the Maratha empire and Bengal. With the spread of potatoes they are brought over to England and cultivated. With the spread of chocolate and people's like for it an effort is made to obtain more while the decay of teeth is supposed to be solved by applying sugar to the teeth and so demand for sugar also grows and the colonies so benefit. England has 4.4 million people,
  • Russia: The Czar continues the militarization, every man must serve 3 years service in the military in order to prepare a large standing army to face off against Russia's enemies. The population hits 15.5 million. With potato's spreading to the motherland, many peasants begin to make vodka out of potato's. Many businessmen hope to make an entire exporting industry. We continue to expand 40px into Siberia. Settlement begins in the Baikal Panhandle. We also expand northwards in Siberia 10px. The Czar also sees for possible expansion into Kiev and regain Cossack territory that was given to Kiev in return for their support. (secret) The Czar begins to make plans for the military takeover of Kiev in the near future but isn't sure whether to go to war with them, for now its a contingency plan..
The city Algiers is made the capital of the Sultanate as its population grows,The 2nd biggest city is Rabat as Naval troops being to start families in the area. The Sultan begins to works on cities by opening markets and trading centers mostly at Algiers. The spread of Islam in Zaire is less about shoving it down people belief but more of gaining trust of people by giving out food and things like that, after gaining trust of people we begin to spread Islam into Ziyi (Kongo).Ali al Baba is ordered to work to make more improved ships to reach the new world, a prototype is made on paper. Our ships are sent to trade with Zaire,Mali, and tiny west African states.
The port (not the best or biggest) of Tajammad is re made along with ocean defense walls and gun ports made along with 50 cannons. The population stands at 5,320 people with a slow rise in pop.

1625

Zheng Licheng's army of 600,000 troops besieges the city of Keifang, where it encounters the imperial army. Although Licheng was ultimately defeated and forced to retreat, the resulting struggle caused a local dam to break, and ended up creating a flood that wiped out most of the imperial army. Undaunted, Licheng quickly begins regrouping is army back together. In Beijing, the weak and idiotic Tan emperor finds his nation stricken with famine that begins killing million after million, while the treasury is empty and unable to raise a new army.

Potatoes spread greatly throughout Russia with the invention of vodka. However, the climate they can only grow natively is in the far south in the northern Caucasus region.

Maratha's economy greatly recovers with opening trade with England, and begins building the nation. Maratha communities in Gujarat and Deccan, mostly isolated by jungle and desert, find closer loyalty to the Maratha emperor than either of their local Rajas.

A single stray ship from France blows off course and crashes into southern Australia, killing all its crew but leaving a shipment of western European horses on the continent. As the existence of Australia is still unknown, this event remains totally unknown to Europe.

King Charles of Two Sicilies defeats his enemies to become king of France. English Henry runs to Scandinavia seeking refuge.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: In the scientific revolution, a systematic model for the shape of the known universe begins to be formed. The adoption of this model is closely associated with the books of world history, interestingly enough. The cosmic order of the stars, described with mathematical principles, is described as analogous to the order of history, centered at the rise of Islam and the Rashidun as the ultimate focal point of space and time. Meanwhile, Khalid Al-Ab's study of shelfish discovers that those who prepare and sell fish affected with disease are less likely to catch cholera than anyone else. He then begins bringing some infected fish with him around to other villages in southern Mespotamia, continuing his experiments. The Caliph declares that the library in the House of Wisdom needs to be updated, and so begins a worldwide search for any pieces of literature to add to the library. Missionaries are sent to the New World, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia, particularly to convert more muslims in Malaya. Chemists in the house of wisdom isolate the element Bismuth. As it has been 100 years since the last signing of the treaty, the Caliphate asks to renew the treaty of Tunis with France and Iberia for longer peace (MOD RESPONSE). Sumatra's own navy in Jambi and Aceh, along with outposts in Chittagong and the Andaman continue to provide steady income of trade.
    • Quick Note- The Marathas seceded from me. I didnt have the port of Bulsar (Valsad). Did the Marathas take up parts of Gujarat. If yes, then Gujarat is your vassal. And you are putting up these events as if you want revolts in Gujarat and Deccan Sultanate.
    • Stop reading into the events (and stop writing notes on the game page), this isnt about your nation at this point
  • Masqat and Oman: The military continues to be replenished. About 1,000 Omanis are enlisted this year, and 8 ships are built. Prominent Omanis protest the outlawing of the slave trade in the Caliphate, arguing that even though it does not apply directly to Masqat and Oman, it still affects the kingdom severely and disrupts its slave trading economy. Many Omani merchants now avoid Rashidun ports altogether in fear of Rashidun officials, instead directing trade through countries such as Iran and Swahili. Still, south of the Gulf of Suez, the slavery ban remains ineffective and unenforced, as the inhabitants are not willing to give up their millennia-old practices. Thus, Oman sees an influx of Rashidun-based slave traders, as it is one of the only areas of the Caliphate where slavery is not technically illegal.
    • OOC: Ive been gradually phasing out of slavary for 40 years, and havent sponsored exporting slaves since 1609. The mod events from the 16th century also established that contracted servitude was much more profitable. If you want to maintain a backward economy for the sake of tradition and being interesting thats fine, as long as your not implying my action is unreasonable -Nate
    • OOC: Your action is unreasonable in the eyes of Masqat and Oman, a country that derives a lot of its income from the slave trade of the Swahili Coast, Somalia, Madagascar, and India. Meta/OOC logic makes no difference. In the Mediterranean, slavery may be unprofitable, but the Arab slave trade of the Indian Ocean is a lucrative, thriving business. -General
  • Korea: With growing discontent over the current Chinese monarchy, the imperial court pressures monarch Kim Hoseok to fully withdraw from the tributary system, with radicalized factions even pushing for the adoption of the Mandate of Heaven (and thereby having a nominal claim over China). However, the pro–Chinese Emperor refuses, and insists on maintaining a pro–Chinese foreign policy. Whilst temporarily ceasing tributary missions, he sends shipments of gold and grains to help stabilize the country and to show allegiance to the Chinese Emperor, who is now a mere figurehead amid an increasingly divided Empire. Increasingly disliked by the bureaucracy, an assassin bursts into the imperial palace in Hanseong (apparently with the aid of some royal guards) poisons both Empress Consort Gong and their son. Fortunately, the Empress survives but the young Prince does not, leaving the current ruler without a heir. Meanwhile, in Hamhung, Kim Hoseok's fifteen-year old charismatic nephew Kim Seutae orchestrates a plot to oust his uncle and claim the throne. He secretly reaches out to several key military officers, most notably General Park Jimin (who also accepts) to defect and collaborate with his efforts. The exploitation of vast tracts of Manchurian arable land continues, with wheat and soy being grown as the principal crops. However, sweet potatoes are grown in land not suitable for traditional grains, further adding to the large food surplus. With increased export earnings (specializing on the exportation of porcelain, weaponry and armoury, and silk) and the usage of gold to peg the paper currency, the government uses its reinvigorated wealth to fund modernization and infrastructural campaigns.
  • Papal States: After a thorough investigation, the Inquisition discovers that not only are potatoes not dangerous explosive devices, but they are in fact delicious and nutritious foodstuffs. The Prefect of the Inquisition, extremely embarrased by his misunderstanding of the explosivity of potatoes, steps down. New Pope Zachary II appoints a promintnent Angelicum-faction member as his replacement, further enhancing his orthodoxy credentials. Zachary sees this as a crucial appointment for his personal 'zero-tolerance' approach to heresy. In his consistory this year, the Pope appoints Archbishop Jean Cenaux of Bordeaux, as well as his successor as Archbishop of Cologne, to the cardinalate. Additionally, he orders the creation of a 'Missionary College' in Rome to train priests and brothers with the specific skills they need for mission work, includung local languages and customs. Missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and Southern Africa (including the Zulu).
  • Archduchy of Austria: Economy and military improvement is resuming, as the population currently rising up slightly. Military still recruits more troops in, with roads still constructing for trades and connection to the cities. Buildings being constructed in Vienna, with trade relations continuing to improve. Fortifications are currently built for a self defense against the others. The farms produce food for civillians in Austria, as it's looks to build more to benefit the population.
  • Tsardom of Belka: With so much demographic concentration and pressure on the Empires core territories the new province of Transylvania becomes a godsend. The overpopulated cities of the empire most notably Vasiligrad, Belgrad, Tarnovo, Targoviste, and its mayors all convene with the Tsar proposing a plan to use the usual development funds to develop the Frontiers particularly the final areas of Moldavia, and all of Transylvania. The idea here is to send the overpopulated cities populations into the Frontiers for full on development. Tsar Kaloyan agrees and through his Imperial Duma signs the Frontier Acts which offers the ability of cities to convene on issues of population and bring it to the attention of the Tsar for settling or movement. The Imperial population is at nearly 9.8 million and growing. However Tsar Kaloyan hoping to curb the issues with the current Tax system brings in his Bereuacracy to start an overhaul of the dated Tax system based on the old feudal laws. The movement towards a more modern tax system is able to be conducted as the final rights of his old Feudal lords are broken and he pushes the tax reform through and begins to organize a Census to better codify the nations population. The Settlement of Transylvania is undertaken in the very end of the Year as the discovery of greater gold reserves and the vast amount of now unclaimed land is organized into farms, hamlets, and plantations.
England has 4.4 million people, Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px, establishing infrastructure in the form of forts and towns to link it with newly acquired Farageland. Expansion of the Colonial Guard continues, as defense of the Arcadian and Lauwentian colonies becomes an area of concern, noting the ease in which England overran the area. Guyanas governors continue undertaking expeditions into the colony's interior. Local tribes are subjugated, but are given wide privileges in exchange for their help in extracting gold from the soil, and adding their warriors to Guyanas manpower pool.
    • Kingdom of Ceylon: rule continues to be centralized in the protectorate monarchy. New agricultural techniques introduced by the Burgundians contributes to a population boom in Ceylon.
  • Russia: We expand 40px into Siberia.

1626

Zheng Licheng marches on the capital city of Beijing, and easily overtakes it with his overwhelming force of bandits. The last Tan emperor tries to escape disguised as a eunuch, but he is found out by Licheng's men. Fleeing from the scene, desparate and confused, the emperor locks himself in the Forbidden Palace and rings for his advisors. When no one came, he went out to the garden and hanged himself. Licheng is proclaimed the new emperor of the E Dynasty, and proceeds to reward his followers by sacking the city. in the north, the military overseeing the defense of China still guard the Great Wall against northern foreriners.

A succession crisis between the Principalities of New Rhodes and Maryland causes the crusader states to lose much of their centralization, although still nominally and culturally unified.

What succession crisis. This is not a hereditary system. -scraw

In Cologne, a German Cardinal offers to sponsor the construction of a private Papal residence for the city, for when the Pope visits his home town. This idea is backed by the Westphalian League, who are seeking to gain Papal support of their autonomy against the encroaching power of Prussia and Burgundy. The Pope's decision will represent whether the League will be able to rely on support out of Rome. Additionally, there are some muted rumblings about making common cause with Scandinavia in the event of absolute necessity.

The Buddhist plurality of Siam becomes very agitated by the forced marriages with Muslims and Europeans. Most refuse to comply. In fact, some Muslims and Europeans are not too keen on the idea either.

Tulips begin to be bred in Burgundy. Many, many tulips.

The new king of France, Charles X the Proper, commands Admiral Sebastien Bonaparte (just a good admiral, not a great one), formerly of the Dutch family, now a seasoned veteran of the succession war, to sail with what parts of the fleet he can gather, to Scandinavia and demand the return of the traitor Henry, called "Henry England". Furthermore, he dispatches his Russian cousin, who had been living at court in France, to Belka to see if he can raise Belkan support to restore a proper Rurik to the throne from whence they were wrongfully deposed. This cousin is married Charles X's sister to ensure good relations with a potential Russia and France.

Iberian explorer Fernando Bonaventura is blown off course during a Pacific voyage and arrives in Australia. Believing he has simply discovered a new island, he names it Santacruz. He then makes his proper voyage again, not realizing the size of his discovery.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: A fantastic new discovery is made by Khalid Al-Ab for the scholars of the Middle east. Al-Ab noticed that infected shelfish of a more mild, harmless strain of cholera would make a person initially sick, but then later immune to any form of cholera in later exposure. Thus, Khalid concludes a theory of immunology, and begins working to isolate the disease of cholera as a way of immunizing people from the disease. Meanwhile, the House of Wisdom opens the first periodic scientific journal, Tatakellim Al-Filosofia Bayt Al-Hikma, the first volume of which contains mostly articles on the development of optics. Music for larger string groups are composed in Alexandria as well. Noticing the continuation of unathorized slavary in southern Arabia, the Ulema decide to take a less heavy-handed approach to inspect the problem. The Caliphate inquires to Swahili and Deccan if they would work to transition out of a slave-based economy to adopt the Mediterranean modal of contracted servitude.
  • Cologne: Upon Archbishop Baldrich of Cologne’s election as Pope and his ascension to the Papacy, the citizens of Cologne are overjoyed – almost as excited as they were when Adelphina of Essen was declared a Saint. Stories of His Holiness’s wanderings around the City of Rome bring tears to the eyes of many a devout Catholic in Cologne, even German lands as a whole. For the past few years, Vicar-General Wikbold V has kept up Archbishop Baldrich’s good work while the administration struggled to choose a suitable successor for such a top-notch Archbishop. He has continued to go to League of Westphalia meetings to convince them that peace is the best option, and secretly convince the relevant Holy Roman Empire states to join with Prussia to keep Germany together. Trade has recovered, and mercenaries are commonplace in Cologne Militia. Finally, an Archbishop-Patriarch is elected. His name is Wulfrich von Schulte, and his mother is from another League of Westphalia state, so he has very well-informed views on the Westphalian position. He hopes to pick up from where his predecessor left off. Accordingly, he makes the suggestion of a Papal residence for Pope Zachary II in the hope that the League of Westphalia can gain further support to encourage more respect for these little united group of nations, and protect the people of these nations from any potential conflict in the long run. The population of Cologne continues to rise. ((OOC: I'm going to assume the "German Cardinal" is my Archbishop-Patriarch-Cardinal, because there's no other Cardinal in Cologne.))
    • Essen: Adelphinian Canonesses in Japan have finished their integrated education plan for Japanese local culture, and have begun to implement it in the church-schools where applicable. Still, they worry about the relationship with the Japanese locals, and begin to plan a small college or university with which they can expand their reach and their worldly experience to those who are willing. Meanwhile, Canonesses in the New World receive word from Abbess-General Isengard in Essen, and academics at the University of Essen, replying that they should build giant rakes to poke holes in large swathes of ice over the land and encourage the sun to melt the ice faster. The Canonesses are sceptical, but they nevertheless begin to work on implementation. Further, they make notes to farmers in the New World generally to be more conservative with their use of seeds during potentially colder months. Meanwhile in Essen, with the scientific revolution spreading through Eastern Europe and some of the University of Essen’s Sister Universities in Prussia, Adelphinian Canonesses gain access to several new texts and begin studying them with a new passion. Abbess-General Isengard highly approves of the scientific method generally, encouraging these Canonesses to be innovative and solve problems worldwide. As a result, some canonesses begin to think about modernising the equipment in Essen’s silver mines and more effectively utilising their natural resources. In other news, Abbess-General Isengard hears of Pope Zachary II’s plans for a Missionary College for priests and brothers, and writes to His Holiness enquiring about a potential branch of the Missionary College dedicated to the Adelphinian Canonesses and other missionary sisters, to be built in Essen, which would share resources with the Missionary College. Finally, Canonesses in Tondo continue to use royalties from the book to assist in education and health levels of all people in Tondo. Tondoese locals now make up a third of all Canonesses.
    • English Dip: In support of our trading friends in Westphalia, Cologne and the Pope we offer to contribute a third of the costs of the private Papal residence.
    • Burgundian Dip: knowing Pope Zachary to be a friend of the Prusso-Burgundian Crown, the States General offers to finance a portion of the residences construction.
  • Korea: A corruption scandal involving Emperor Kim Hoseok and several non-political figures involved in shamanic activities is made public, fuelling further calls for his abdication. Starting from Hamhung, his nephew Prince Kim Seotae musters an expeditionary force of twenty-thousand levies and marches to the imperial palace in Hanseong. Upon reaching his destination, he ousts his uncle from the throne and mortally shoots him by a rifle, forcing now-former Empress Gong to sign abdication papers formalizing his succession. The young sixteen-year old Emperor subsequently purges the imperial court of his uncle's royalists while forcing several bureaucrats to pay tribute (tax and kneeling); thus firmly rooting himself as the main authority figure. He also abolishes the dynastic union with Manchuria and Nivkhgu (their local cadet branches losing their powers), ceasing their autonomous dominion status and incorporating them as the eleventh and twelfth provinces of Korea. Noticing the collapse of the young Tan dynasty, he severs tributary relations with China and formally adopts the Mandate of Heaven. A group of armed emissaries are sent to the gates of the Great Wall, forcing border guards to open the gates and defect to the Korean royal army (thereby recognizing Emperor Kim Seotae's claim on the Mandate).
    • General Sui Wuseung, Commander of the Wall, initially refuses; however, after recieiving word of his concubines raped by Licheng's men, he throws open the gates, believing any foreign ruler must be better than this chaos -Nate mod
  • Papal States: Pope Zachary II writes to the Cardinal of Cologne, gladly accepting the offer of a (small) private Papal residence in his home town, and suggesting that he will visit the city within the next few years. In the letter, he (privately) writes to his successor that he is, as ever, supportive of the League of Westphalia, and explicitly advises against allying one's self with outright heretics like the Scandinavians. Essen's suggestion of a smaller associated campus of the Missionary College in Cologne is well-received, with the Pope hoping it will serve not only as an aid to those canonesses bound for the Missions, but also for missionaries of the entire Northern region. The Roman Missionary College holds its first lectures this year. In other news, the Papal Legate of Lombardy has normalised administration to such an extent that it is almost indistinguishable from the Papal States proper. Missions in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and Southern Africa (including the Zulus) continue.
  • Archduchy of Austria: Military continues to recruit more troops and economy continues to improve though. Trade relations with others improve and continue to progress, population is slightly increasing in Vienna. Therefore the farms are producing more food, with buildings being constructed and finalised. The roads are built to connect the cities, but will somehow end its plan.
Also the construction of a new library and college is continuing to being built. Due to the Buddhist being agitated by being forced to marry oters of different races, the king makes a speech in themain square of the capital saying that anyone can marry any and its up to yourself who u want to choose to marry not me or anyone.
Colonial expansion continues, with Amazonia expanding to the west along the coast and Mecicipi expanding north along the OTL Mississippi river.

  • Java: The sultan Raharjo Kawilujengan grows unsastified with French rule in Java, feeling that he should not be ruled by foreigners and infidels at that. The court begins to shift from a pro-French to an anti-French. Secret Begin the Sultan Raharjo Kawilujengan reaches out to the caliphate in help in liberating the island of java from the infidels in france, while understanding that the caliphate is supposed to be in good relations with france mentioning covert help would be acceptable as well. Secret end. The Sultan begins to gather support among the people for a bid of independence from the French, spurring religious zeal, and pseudo-nationalism (more like freeing themselves from infidels).

    • The Java kingdom is solidly a French Colony and would be under French control in all honesty. If you wish to play as the Java kingdom, aka the Puppet of france your gonna have to come to me or Scraw first to discuss -Feud
  • Japan: With the collapse of the Tan Dynasty via General Zheng Licheng's conquest of Beijing Emperor Go-Mizunoo and Shogun Tokyugawa Hidetada proclaim independence from China and we exit the Chinese tributary system, thus the humilating annual tribute to China ceases and we reaffirm our power as an indpendent state. The union between the Emperor and the Shogun comes into fruition with the marriage between the Emperor and Tokugawa Masako, the wife of the Emperor and the daughter of the Shogun six years prior. With the union between House Yamato and House Tokugawa as well. Two years prior, in 1624,   Oki-ko. The union, combined with the declaration of independence from China, and the proclamation of the Emperor to be a direct descendent of Amaterasu results in the recentralization of Japan, and infrastructure as well as mining is restored and improved, leading to the restoration of the Japanese economy. The Japanese imperial system is officially implemented over Taiwan, Borneo, and Buru, and those colonies are further developed and used to benefit Japan.
    • Borneo was lost in mod event/algo, although you can still create an administration for it in exile

1627

Over 300,000 troops await Korea's expedition on the other side of the Great Wall, eager to pledge their support to the House of Kim. These represent nobility from all across northern China. In Beijing, Licheng halts his celebration when he hears of this invasion, and marshals his forces to leave the city and advance on the rebels to defend the E Dynasty.

Consequently, Tibet becomes de facto independent from China, with the government unsure who, if any, to support. The Great Khan reaches out to them.

Scandinavia establishes a colony in Hudson Bay.

The Wittelsbach family ruling the Palatine become more influential in Germany, becoming one of the leading families in the League of Westphalia.

In southern Australia, the warring states of the former Anangu Kingdom adopt the usage of horses as beasts of burden and battle.

After years of getting missionaries from both Islam and Christianity, the Zulu kingdom and its King outlaw the religions and expel their missionaries. Sibho himself heavily invests into establishing the Zulu's traditional organizational structure and belief system implemented throughout his territory.

Higher-level nobles in the Javan government oust anti-French supporters, resulting in nearly all of their arrests and summary execution. The quick actions of the pro-French elements of the Java Kingdom impress the French who begin cultivating a more stable and long lasting relationship in Java, one that could be seen as preferable to complete independence.

We try not to get influenced by them. We start to update our ports and increase the size do to increase of sea trade with outside nations. A new Buddhist temple made of brass continues to be constructed in the capital city. Also the construction of a new library and college is continuing to being built. Due to the Buddhist being agitated by being forced to marry oters of different races, the king makes a speech in themain square of the capital saying that anyone can marry any and its up to yourself who u want to choose to marry not me or anyone.
    • Masqat and Oman to Siam: We offer a trade agreement with Siam to ensure that Omani ships may freely visit Siam's ports to buy and sell goods.
  • Masqat and Oman: Under advice of the Grand Imam of Nizwa, Masqat and Oman supports Java's independence and (secretly) sends money and firearms to Ibadi rebels within the country to aid in their struggle. The Grand Imam declares that all Ibadi states should be free from foreign rule, and urges Ibadi Muslims throughout Indonesia to revolt against the infidel. Ibadism continues to spread throughout Sumatra, especially in Aceh. These efforts are bolstered by the continual presence of Omani missionaries and the city of Banda Aceh (Aceh's capital) being in close proximity to the Nicobar Islands, an Omani colony. In Banda Aceh itself, Ibadis make up a significant minority, while on the neighboring island of Weh they are a majority. Missionaries are also sent to Siam to capitalize on their religious divisions and introduce Ibadi Islam as an alternative. Meanwhile, Somalia continues to be colonized. In a daring expedition led by Admiral Al-Ruzaiq, the ports of Hafun and Eyl are brought under Omani control and the pirates are driven from the coast. The settlements of Al-Mu'tasim and Jarf 'Ahmad on Dina Arobi are developed this year. More settlers arrive in the colonies from the mainland, bringing slaves to work on the sugar fields. Masqat and Oman is quickly growing to become one of the largest producers of sugar in the Arab-Indian world. In what is viewed as the final blow to Deccan domination of Indian Ocean trade, the Bahmani rupee is officially abolished as the currency of Masqat and Oman, and replaced by the Rashidun dinar for convenience. Omanis may continue to exchange rupees, Persian coins, or other nonstandard currencies if they wish. The Deccan coast is targeted by privateers, further weakening their trade power and leaving a gap to be filled by Omani merchants. The Burgundian style of naval artillery and ship design is formally adopted. These improvements are costly but will put Masqat and Oman ahead of its neighbors in naval technology. Elements of the traditional dhow design are retained, especially in merchant ships.
    • Al-Qamar: Border friction with the Merina resurfaces as the new generation of Omani settlers press increasingly further into the fertile lands of Imerina, ruthlessly driving native families into the central highlands. The Merina retaliate, burning Omani farmlands just south of Mahajanga. In response, Governor Muhsin raises an army in Vohemar and Mahajanga and, with reinforcements from the mainland, secures Al-Qamar's border. King Junaid plans to take action against the Merina next year.
    • Masqat and Oman-Rashidun Diplomacy: King Junaid asks for Rashidun assistance in developing military technology, particularly field/siege artillery.
    • Rashidun accepts to increase diplomatic influence
  • Russia: Expansion in Siberia continues at 40px. Tsar Vladimir II offers to negotiate a deal with the remaining Ruriks. If it is concluded, Tsar Vladimir will abdicate but wants to be offered a high position in the military as he claims the murder of Ivans family was not by him, for Ivan had chosen to fight, and peasant soldiers holding grudges from tails of Cossack soldiers raiding their homelands under the Rurik dynasty prompted them to kill the Ruriks. Vladmimir offers to Serve the Czar as a "Prime Minister" or a soldier of the royalty with undying loyalty.(Mod Response).
    • This is unacceptable to them. Vladimir Putin is a traitor and falsehood upon the great lineage of Tsars. We will make Russia great again, writes Prince Yevgeny. -scraw
  • Korea: Emperor Kim Seotae continues purging the court and the literati of his deceased uncle's royalists, while also forcing prominent members of his past administration to pay tribute (in the form of kneeling before him and paying taxes). He musters an expeditionary force of a hundred thousand levies, which passes through the Liaodong wall to greet the three-hundred thousand defectors on the other side. Understanding the difficulty of controlling such a large force; he places half of the army under his direct control, and the other half distributed among five high-ranking military officers. Emperor Kim Seotae then orders a march to the capital to oust Li Zicheng and his supporters from rule. He also sends five hundred ships and twenty thousand sailors to occupy the port of Qingdao, thereby controlling the opening of the Bohai Sea. Emissaries are sent to Giapan, Sakha, and Mongolia, forcing the rulers of the two to accept the new Emperor's claim on the Mandate of Heaven and submitting as a tributary (MOD RESPONSE/PLAYER RESPONSE). In the Hamgyeong province, quarries are opened to extract and harness its expansive gold reserves and enable the government to send funds to support the war effort. The war effort greatly spurs economic development, as it creates a high demand for industrial goods (armoury, weaponry, etc).
    • Mongolia rejects this bigly! Fake mandate! Sad! No tributary, you're the tributary. -Scraw
      • Korea (OOC): Nice humour Scraw...
  • Archduchy of Austria: Military and economy both continues to improve, while military continues to train and recruit its troops. The population in Austria continues to grow slightly, while towns are constructing. The roads in Austria resumes to build, as trade relations with continue to improve through. The farms produce more food as it's looking to increase its benefits.
  • Java: Sultan Raharjo kawilujengan after seeing the death of most of the anti-French loyalists in his court admits an apology to the French advisors and French loyalists and French soldiers inviting them to a feast to which they all attend, however poison was slipped into all of their food and drinks, they all eat and drink them and die except for his treacherous advisor. He brandes him a traitor to islam and an affront to Allah, executing him by boiling him alive. Public support runs high for independence from the French infidels reaching 70% of the pop in support. Java now purged of the heretics and French-loyalists immediately declares independence from France stating "Kita ora bakal nandhang sangsara chain saka kafir" or in english "We shall not suffer the chain of infidels". We call on Muscat and Oman to support us in our troubles, along with the deccan sultanate, and secretly the rashidun caliphate. Purges are begun removing French loyalists from the country.
  • You straight up ignored the mod event as well as the Ruling of me and Scraw. -Feud
    • Belial discussed it with me. Does my opinion as a mod not count? I can understand if you have certain goals to reach in the game, but this seems as straight up hijacking someones nation in favor of an NPC. It just seems much less about plausibility and more about forcing the game a certain way. Also, if the turn was retconned, it seeme illogical to also have a mod event -Nate
    • Java isnt available as a nation without the okay of us. Colonial nations are under the jurisdiction of their Mother nation right now. Also the fact Java keeps trying to do stuff in favor of the caliphate and islamic nations when ITS NOT MAJORITY ISLAMIC. seems just as Fishy -Feud
    • If I may add something, by this reasoning Sidewinder would not have been able to sign up as Malaya, my protectorate. -Guy
    • 1) Unless Java was directly ruled by France, I don't see how Java would be unavailable at all, like what we said to Guy. At first, this wanking of France in SE Asia was justified as balancing out for the expansion of people like Guy, but by now it has far exceeded what anyone else in the game has done in the region, or could do. And if France did directly rule Java instead of allying with it, then the mod events related to it make no sense. Unless, of course, Java is an extremely unique situation where it is reserved from all players by some reason undivulged to the other players or the other mods. I'd like to know which it is.
    • 2) Java's rulers converted to Ibadi in a mod event, and until very recently it was always assumed the successor states of Majapihut were Muslim. If you are retroactively ruling that they were not the majority this whole time, that's fine. But the Muslim nations have sent missionaries to the region since Java first existed, and is literally the only prosyltizing religion in the island for 70 years, so eventually it will be the majority, albeit later than OTL. Even so, the OTL Muslim dynasties of India were never the majority, and they were subservient to the Caliph and allied with Muslim nations all the time (even those that were Princely states under British Rule). With that in mind, there is nothing implausible about Belial's actions, albeit maybe foolish to challenge France, but that never stopped players before (*cough*Poland*cough*). -Nate
    • The content of the post is irrelevant. Belial cannot play Java as he already used his switch to jump from Scandinavia to China. -scraw
England has 4.4 million people, The colonies have 0.25 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people.

Outside of this, the Belkan cities demographic overload starts to ease as settlement projects start popping up in Transylvania beginning to Transform the landscape as hundreds of new small farms, dozens of new towns, and a flooding of the major cities with migrants becomes apparent. The prime driving factor seems to be the new amounts of open land, under the imperial land reform edicts, as well as the literal mountains of Gold and Silver located in the province in which operations are started. The Imperial population continues to grow skirting just under 10 million. The Belkan Tsar begins personally treating with the English and French for more amiable relations.

  • Korea: With the Mandate of Heaven legitimizing his authority despite at a young age, Emperor Kim Seotae proclaims the establishing the Jin dynasty. Hanseong is renamed as Seoul, while the imperial palace is revamped to a bigger size under the order of the Emperor. However, this hasty renovation results in many rooms being completely empty; to compensate for the lack of furniture, the rooms are filled with treasure plundered from the conquests. With the entirety of Liaoning occupied and the Liaodong wall breached, dissidents resisting the Emperor's claim on the Mandate of Heaven are executed whilst a few peasants are drafted to replace casualties. General Sui Wuseung is awarded for his defection and collaboration with the government, along with several other high military-officials. The royal army begins its conquest of Hebei, and an eventual takeover of Beijing; a step closer to establishing dominance over the entirety of China. With agricultural productivity increasing due to the usage of low-maintenance high-yield crops such as sweet potatoes, soy, and maize in Manchurian arable land, many peasants are encouraged to work in industrial complexes to provide weaponry and armoury for the war campaign. To provide funds and stabilize the value of the currency, quarries are opened to harness northern gold reserves.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: As architecture grows more ambitious and grandious in the Baroque era, an even larger building project begins in Egypt. The Lighthouse of Alexandria, destroyed in an Earthquake under the accursed Mamluke era, was a great and impressive monument of the ancient world. Under the Abbasid Dynasty, it was proposed to rebuild this great monument during the artistic era of the 1550s; however, at that time it was discarded as having no practical purpose. Now, in the more enlightened Baroque era, the lack of practicality is made up for by the austerity and symbolism put into the new tower. And so the construction of the Lighthouse is underway. Not one to be outshined, the agricultural society of the House of Wisdom begins designing a structure for modern hanging gardens, to replace that other great monument the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. In the Indian Ocea, the Muslim hegmony of the Arab-Indian company still hold dominence over the trade in at least the west Indian Ocean, stretchnig from Madagasgar to Gujarat. A merchant ship returns to the port of Zanzibar with great tales of distant lands. The captain, Akida, reveals that he used to be a part of a trade fleet 20 years ago to West Africa, yet strong winds blew him off course to a new world. • Korea: With the war effort in the port of Qingdao sluggish, Emperor Kim Seotae invests all his effort into the campaign for the entirety of Hebei. With his efforts seemingly paying off, he moves on to a conquest of Shandong and Shanxi, splitting the royal army into two. Now conquered, the imperial court is moved to Beijing, which is established as the primary capital. Seoul is demoted to a secondary capital, yet is still home to the official summer residences. To prevent an influx of migrants into Manchuria, a quota is enforced and the Liaodong wall is fortified. As part of his reforms to centralize power, the Emperor strips court eunuchs of their administrative powers.
  • Aryavarta: The army is rearmed and equipped. We seek to establish better relations with the Marathas. Our population is 55 million. Jats, Dogras, Pathans, Gorkhas and peasants from Awadh and Magadh constitute the army. The fortification of Ujjain is completed. Newer towns come up. Pumping systems and sanitation systems have been completely incorporated into Patliputra and Delhi. The construction of large drains in other cities is being started. Town plans are being developed with the Main City Plan as the base. The housing for all project has been completed. The tribals keep moving to Ambikapur. Land clears up and is cleared of vegetation for cultivation. A reading public develops as more and more books get printed. The Jatak Tales, Stories of the Panchtantra and other folk tales are printed in small booklets. The University of Agra becomes fully functional and starts working on hydraulic engineering. A great debates starts in the Universities of Gaya and Ujjain after a student points out the Concept of Gravity explained by Aryabhata and Brahmagupta in their books. This leads to many experiments being performed to prove and explain this phenomena. The Seamless Celestial Globe is invented in Kashmir. Shampoo gains popularity and is now being produced by many villages in Magadh and Awadh. A National identity develops with many associating themselves as being the Sons of Aryans and belonging to the Arya Vansh.
  • Deccan Sultanate: We propose technology sharing between us, the Caliphate, Iran and Swahili. (Player Response). We modernize our army and navy. Newer dockyards are built. A string of fortifications is being constructed on the coast. Our navy stands at 1200 ships. With advice from the Caliphate, we begin debating on the transition away from slavery. Baroque architecture mixes with Deccan architechture. The Sultan dies. Mohammed Adil Shah ascends to the throne. The capital is moved to Hyderabad. An era of prosperity begins. The new Sultan is more secular and allows Hindus into the government and the court as an administrative system starts to develop. The printing press is introduced. Soon it is adopted by the court. Grandiose buildings are constructed in Hyderabad. We declare war on the Maratha Confederacy. We invade Bulsar with 200,000 troops led by our Great General while another 100,000 troops invade towards Nagpur.
    • English dip: Since Bulsar is actually an English port city (if you don't believe me ask Nate) this is an attack on English territory and so we hire 16,000 troops (my max merc count) from amongst local forces and arm them as English soldiers and we simply close the gates of Bulsar and encourage them to take it by force.
    • Punjab diplomacy: We accuse the Deccan Sultanate of senseless aggression and we send 150,000 troops, and 22,500 mercenaries to defend our capital. Also 5,000 new Nepali vassal troops are sent with the promise of more.
  • Punjab Confederacy- After the glorious rebellion of 1623, the Maratha princes have established independence from Aryavarta. On the eve of victory, the Princes decide to form a confederacy of princes with each of the princely states being semi-autonomous. The realm shall be lead by an elected king known as the Chhatrapati, while a council of ministers called the Ashtapradhan is created to delegate the affairs of the confederacy. The capital is placed in Nagpur, where the Royal Palace is built to hold court and as a seat of power. The current population is around 15 million (I swear that's the number Dev said), whose main demographic are Punjabi's and are mainly Hindu. Currently the damage from the war is being repaired, with the trade with the English boosting the economy. An offer is given towards the English for a trade agreement and increased shipments of spices in exchange for the building cannon foundries and firearms as well as providing mercenaries to modernise the military (Player response). To help improve the economy a series of grand works are proclaimed which is the Grand Maratha waterworks which is meant build a grand series of canal, aqueducts and dams to help irrigate the farmlands and help grow the population, However due to our recovering economy it will take many years and groundwork is only getting started. In addition to this there while be the Royal roads, a series of highways which will connect all main cities and towns and refurbish old roads in order to help commerce. However due to lack of funds, these are only plans. In order to inspire scientific progress, the Royal University of Nagpur is established while grants are given to gifted individuals. More plantations are built to produce valuable spices such as pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg for foreign trade. Relations with Aryavarta are tense at the moment due to the rebellion though, many members of the court realise that a common front must be made against other threats. Due to the anarchy of China, the Confederacy extend an offer towards the region of Nepal will protect them outside threats in exchange for vassalage and tribute. There will also be help in modernising. (Mod Response). The economy is steadily recovering from the war.
    • I have edited it a bit. Now The Rajputs are a ruling Clan. Lets say that the Scots are ruled by the Scottish Rajputs while the Welsh are ruled by the Welsh Rajputs. It goes like that. There are many clans like the Rajputs which are ruling clans. The Shatriyas , Bhumihars etc. etc. So the Marathas are like an ethnicity. And some of these people are Maratha Rajputs or Maratha Shatriyas. These will rule your Confederacy. The Rajputs are a caste, the Marathas are a people. Secondly Shivaji is currently 2 years old.
    • Your people are ethnically Marathis and speak a Hindi dialect - Marathi. - Dev
    • Dev, you do not have the authority to cross things out. Do not do this again. -scraw
    • Thank you for pointing out the Rajputs and their positions, that is quite a help, though I know they speak Marathi. Also Shivaji is not the real one, he just has the same name and traits as the OTL one, like Person having Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson. Anyway next time leave a comment and I'll change it myself.
    • English dip: We agree.
    • Nepal agrees to be a vassal -Nate mod
    • Nepal has been part of the Delhi/Aryavarta state since the 1400s after it was partitioned with Tibet. West Nepal was sold to Delhi in 1468. -Gen
    • This Nepal thing has been confirmed by Scraw. I have Nepal and Nepal is not independent. We are going by Nate's map and still Punjab does not have access to Nepal.
    • Ok then -Nate
    • Ok
    • Aryavarta Diplomacy: We will intervene in the war only if the territories of OTL Jammu and Kashmir (Paki and Indian) and the OTL North West Frontier Province is ceded back to us. As it contains one of our main cities - Pushkalavati. These are non-Punjabi areas. Your population will remain the same that is 15 million. The 0.9-1 million pop. drop will be negated by 0.3% growth rate. As 15 million was for 1600 and there had been a 0.3% growth rate. (0.2% higher than OTL Mughals).
    • Also you dont have Nutmeg and a whole bunch of other spices. Spices arent your main trade item. Cotton is. Nutmeg is eww and grows in the South only. Many other spices are only found in the South.- Dev
    • Punjab Diplomacy: We regretfully accept the offer of ceding Jammu and Kashmir, and the North West Frontier province in exchange for the full military support of Aryavarta as well as an Non-aggression pact for 50 years and a Mutual Defense Pact. (Some of these you may or may not accept. Minimum is full military support.)
    • Aryavarta Dip: We accept all the requests.
  • Kassel: Improving of the new capital, Kassel begins with the outer walls of the city being renewed into thick stones that takes more than a catapult to dismantle it. Kassel is improving the markets within the capital by making the Frank's Order run it. We improve our military to try make it more plate armour centered. Halberds are also starting to be in use. Common way to not go close to the target and also good against cavalry. The Duke starts to become sick, his symptoms are, Coughing, Soar Throat. Difficulty Breathing. Blood when coughing. Many doctors tell him to get medicine but he says hes busy with work.
  • Sakha: We expand into Siberia, and ask Korea to help us in this endeavor, seeking closer realtions with them. The economy grows minimally, but continues to be reliant on fishing and small scale agriculture. A government starts to form, called the Tsptf (pronounced "Tespatef"), but for now, it only has the power to raise a small army.
    • Korean diplomacy: The Emperor agrees to aid Yakut expansion in Siberia, however, requests that it breaks off from the Japanese tributary system and joins the Korean equivalent.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: The construction of the Lighthouse of Alexandria grows greatly, adding many touches of Baroque architecture and austere decore. A gallery of portraits of past Caliphs are kept in the top of the tower, surrounded by tapestries and murals. In Al-Babil, Iraq, a great plaza in the Ayatollah's residence is cleared out to create the Hanging Gardens, a monumental feat of engineering. Domination of trade continues over the Indian Ocean, East Asia, and by proxy the Atlantic Ocean. The educated class of Egypt and East Africa increases, especially among the native Amharic and Coptic people, while the Arab immigrants take up more of the agricultural class. In light of the subservience of Persia, the regions of Qatar and Bahrain are annexed, and the Emirate of Banten is assumed directly as a vassal. Although he retains the title of Shahanshah, the Caliph does not disrupt the local government of Iran at all, but instead just replaces the ruling dynasty with a new dynasty of Arabic origin: the Amurids, or decendents of Amur Al-'As from the first Rashidun Caliphate. The Ulema reaches out to ask Swahili and Deccan to consider contracted servitude as alternative to slavary, but if find that unsuitable, some comprimise of serfdom could be arranged as well.
  • Deccan Response: On advice of the Caliphate we start phasing out slavery in the Sultanate.
The standard weapons of our military are guns while some troops still use daggers and swords. We try not to get influenced by them. We start to update our ports and increase the size do to increase of sea trade with outside nations. A new Buddhist temple made of brass is now completed. Also the construction of a new library and college is complete. Educations goes very well within our nation with 95% of the countries youth staying in school till they graduate.

England has 4.5 million people, The colonies have 0.25 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people.

  • Punjab Confederacy- The current population is around 15 million , whose main demographic are Punjabi's and are mainly Hindu, and the cessation of some of the territories to Aryavarta, have had little impact due to the low population of these provinces. The capital is Burhanpur (Just started so the details will change minorly as things are being tweaked). Currently the damage from the war is being repaired, with the trade with the English boosting the economy. In order to inspire scientific progress, the Royal University of Burhanpur is established while grants are given to gifted individuals. More plantations are built to produce valuable spices such as pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg for foreign trade. Relations with Aryavarta are tense at the moment due to the rebellion though, many members of the court realise that a common front must be made against other threats. The Confederacy accepts the offer of a triple alliance. The Confederacy warns its allies to not stop until the Deccans are completely subdued.
  • Archduchy of Austria: Economy improvement continues. Population in Austria is increasing slightly. Military continues to recruit its troops mostly, as Austria is concentrating on fortifications. The trade relations with England improve continuously. More roads continue to build for trades, with the farms continue to produce foods in Austria.
  • Papal States: Under the orders of Pope Zachary, the Legate of Lombardy-Florence divides the new land into a number of states, each with its own Legate or Delegate. The Legate israised to the rank of 'Governor' to signify his superiority to these lesser positions. Work continues on improving roads and communication between the States proper and Lombardy-Florence. Pope Zachary also pens his first encyclical, a purely theological piece entitled Pedes Christi (the Feet of Christ). In it, Zachary uses his personal devotion to the relic of the Holy Sandals of Jesus to enter into a reflection on Christ's love for all humanity, shown by how he walked amongst his own fallen creation. Missions in Japan, China, Korea, the New World, and Southern Africa continue. With the prince seemingly cosying up to Europeans, another two missionaries are tentatively sent to the Zulu.
    • France Dip: We ask the Papacy to have French land that France controled pre Hitler returned.
  • Russia: We continue to expand 45px into Siberia. We seek to buy ship designs from Belka to modernize our navy (Player Response). After hearing of the conflict in Africa, we seek to sell large stockpiles of our older gun supply to Benin (mod response). Former Czar Vladimir II leads several expeditions into unknown territory. The first ones fail but the last manages to get up into Western Sakhan territory. We ask the leader of the Chagatai for permission to build many roads from our Siberian territories south into Chagatai territory and into India and Iran. We hope these trade routes will be riches to both the Khanate and Russia (mod response).
    • The roads are acceptable to Great Khan. -scraw
  • France: Frédéric, Comte d'Augsbourg the head of the French East India company establishes a colony in Recife, Brazil for sugar plantations as well as a refueling point on the trip from the East Indies to France. A offical alliance offer is offered to England.
