The Ming Dynasty still rules over the vast lands of China. On the other side of the world, the Hundred Years War continues between England and France. Europe is still stuck in the old ways of feudalism and chivalry while the notions of a New World are considered figments of imagination.

We welcome you to the long awaited fourth expansion of that immortal series. Welcome to Principia Moderni IV! Starting in 1400 AD, this is the dawn of the modern world and the tail end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance is just kicking off in Europe, while the nations in the western side of the continent are locked in the last gasp of the Hundred Years War. The Muslim world is still reeling from the invasions of Turks and Mongols, with the Caliphate resting in the collapsing Mamluk Egypt and the Ottomans on the rise in Anatolia. Make it count.

The first game was the most successful on the wiki, leading all the way to the modern day with mostly plausible posts and little controversy. The second game reached almost to the modern day, but failed due to a plethora of ASB events and moderator bias. The third game was much more worthy of the first, almost running into implausibility but climbing back into a shining glory by the end. Riding on the latest reforms of map games since the end of PMIII, this is the most logical next step in that evolution. Remember above all other rules — have fun.

Moderator Strikes

These are strikes for moderators and how they moderate. The same three strikes rules apply. If a moderator is banned from moderating, however, they can still play as their nation. Mod strikes can be delivered in one of three ways:

  1. If a sufficient number of players (more than half of all players voting) vote to give a moderator a strike.
  2. If I, Scraw, give them a strike.
  3. If a majority of all mods (ie more than half of the total number of mods, excluding that moderator) vote to give a moderator a strike.

Moderators can be given strikes for the following reasons:

  1. Exhibiting bias that would benefit the nation they are playing.
  2. Exhibiting bias that would negatively affect a player they have a personal dispute with.
  3. Making a ruling that contradicts a proven fact from OTL or an established fact from earlier in the game.
  4. Overruling a decision of a majority of moderators.

The Game

1630

The Great Khan and Mongolia go to war with each other.

The local population of the Northern Islands and the Hebrides decide locally that it is in their best interest to return to British hands under the English kings.

The Northern Italian council dissolves itself, effectively placing northern Italy effectively permanently under Papal control.

  • Siam: Population of the nation continues to increases slightly. Farming crops such as rice and sugarcane are the main export of the nation to neighboring nations. The economy is stagnent for the moment. Ship building has been on the rise of latley since expedition to new places have been on interest. Junk ships are the main boat being made by ship builders. The standard weapons of our military are guns while some troops still use daggers and swords. We continue to improve the roads in our nation so trade is more effective. We allow Burgundy and Rashidun ships to dock in our ports so we can trade with them. Coal mining is now one of the most popular resources in the nation. The nation continues to protect its borders in the north from the Chinese nations. We still keep to our Asian roots even with westerners allowed in our nation. We try not to get influenced by them. We start to update our ports and increase the size do to increase of sea trade with outside nations.
  • Aryavarta: A National identity starts developing with many associating themselves as being the Sons of Aryans and belonging to the Arya Vansh. The population of Patliputra, Delhi and Gaya increases. Roads are built and renovated. Cobblestone paths are laid down in the cities. The government secures permission for road construction to tribal villages from the tribal chiefs. This leads to greater contact between tribal communities. Slowly a uniform tribal culture with Shakti influences starts to develop. This facilitates inland trade. The construction of large drains in other cities is being started. With central town planning, the cities and towns become less congested. We declare war on the Deccan Sultanate citing Deccan agression and our promises to the Punjab as the reasons as well as our relations with the English. Out of the 420,000 troops that we can field, 20,000 with 30,000 mercenaries are sent to garrison Pushkalavati (Peshawar). 75,000 with 25,000 mercenaries are sent to the Bengal border. 200,000 troops attack the Deccan Sultanate. Another 25,000 troops and 25,000 mercenaries are sent to help the Punjab. In light of the absence of Deccani troops, 50,000 troops retake Orissa while the other 150,000 troops directly attack and place Hyderabad under siege. We propose a triple-alliance between Aryavarta, the Punjab and England. (PLAYER RESPONSE)
  • Punjab Confederacy:The current population is around 15 million , whose main demographic are Punjabi's and are mainly Hindu, and the cessation of some of the territories to Aryavarta, have had little impact due to the low population of these provinces. The capital is Pratap Nagar (Just started so the details will change minorly as things are being tweaked). Currently the damage from the war is being repaired, with the trade with the English boosting the economy. To help improve the economy a series of grand works are proclaimed which is the Grand Punjab waterworks which is meant build a grand series of canal, aqueducts and dams to help irrigate the farmlands and help grow the population, However due to our recovering economy it will take many years and groundwork is only getting started. In addition to this there while be the Royal roads, a series of highways which will connect all main cities and towns and refurbish old roads in order to help commerce. However due to lack of funds, these are only plans. In order to inspire scientific progress, the Royal University of Pratap Nagar is established while grants are given to gifted individuals. More plantations are built to produce cotton. Relations with Aryavarta are tense at the moment due to the rebellion though, many members of the court realise that a common front must be made against other threats. The Confederacy accepts the offer of a triple alliance. The Confederacy warns its allies to not stop until the Deccans are completely subdued.
  • Archduchy of Austria: Economy improvement continues. Population in Austria is increasing slightly. Military continues to recruit its troops mostly, as Austria is concentrating on fortifications. The trade relations with England improve continuously. More roads continue to build for trades, with the farms continue to produce foods in Austria.
  • Papal States: Under the orders of Pope Zachary, the Legate of Lombardy-Florence divides the new land into a number of states, each with its own Legate or Delegate. The Legate israised to the rank of 'Governor' to signify his superiority to these lesser positions. Work continues on improving roads and communication between the States proper and Lombardy-Florence. Pope Zachary also pens his first encyclical, a purely theological piece entitled Pedes Christi (the Feet of Christ). In it, Zachary uses his personal devotion to the relic of the Holy Sandals of Jesus to enter into a reflection on Christ's love for all humanity, shown by how he walked amongst his own fallen creation. Missions in Japan, China, Korea, the New World, and Southern Africa continue. With the prince seemingly cosying up to Europeans, another two missionaries are tentatively sent to the Zulu.
    • France Dip: We ask the Papacy to have French land that France controled pre Hitler returned.
  • Russia: We continue to expand 45 px into Siberia. We seek to buy ship designs from Belka to modernize our navy (Player Response). After hearing of the conflict in Africa, we seek to sell large stockpiles of our older gun supply to Benin (mod response). Former Czar Vladimir II leads several expeditions into unknown territory. The first ones fail but the last manages to get up into Western Sakhan territory. We ask the leader of the Chagatai for permission to build many roads from our Siberian territories south into Chagatai territory and into India and Iran. We hope these trade routes will be riches to both the Khanate and Russia (mod response).
    • The roads are acceptable to Great Khan. -scraw
  • Maiam: Chocolate exports skyrocket as demand from England and Iberia increases. The internal conflict grinds to a close, as many of the Nativist forces were wiped out by disease or captured by loyalist forces. Maiam, while still largely native Mayan and Mexican, has a large plurality of Europeans, and an even larger mixed-race population. Expansion continues along the southern border, focusing on the coast. Work continues to renovate and update existing buildings and roads and to create plans for future upkeep and renovations. There is some internal turmoil as the dominant Mayans impose their laws and culture on the conquered Mexica. Former Mexican royalty is forced to marry into Mayan lines. Small rebellions are put down. (Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.)
  • France: Frédéric, Comte d'Augsbourg the head of the French East India company establishes a colony in Recife, Brazil for sugar plantations as well as a refueling point on the trip from the East Indies to France. It is named after Charles X and his domain in Sicily offically being titled New Calabria after the house of Valois-Calabria. Charles X son is named Phillip. Chalres X mandates that all noblemen move to Paris. A offical alliance offer is offered to England.
    • England Dip: We agree.
  • Kingdom of England, Ireland and Scotland: King Richard continues to rule Scotland in addition to England and Ireland. With the next war over and again losing to the Germanic empire the King encourages the writing of scholarly material against the Germanic unification and empire. The loss of Farage land was small but infuriating and the failure to retake English lands in Arcadia leads to a sense of anger. Continued work on developing Scotland is made with canals, agricultural improvements and work on Edinburgh castle and defences. Continued migration to the colonies occurs with Scotland now also providing colonists. New Canterbury, New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia are all expanded 25 px. Taxes are maintained at a steady rate to keep a healthy English treasury. Trade relations are improved with Austria, League of Westphalia and Poland while in Asia trade grows with the Maratha empire and Bengal. With the spread of potatoes they are brought over to England and cultivated. With the spread of chocolate and people's like for it an effort is made to obtain more while the decay of teeth is supposed to be solved by applying sugar to the teeth and so demand for sugar also grows and the colonies so benefit. England has 4.5 million people, The colonies have 0.25 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. Positions in Bulsar are maintained with replacement of lost troops.
  • African Sultanate of the Maghreb:  Sultan Hamish Al Farrok takes power begins to work on modernizing the army by requesting men from 17-36 to train in the army, as the navy is improved on to defend trading ships.Urban centers begin to grow as trading centers and means of living begin to spread mostly in cities on the coast. We send Muslims missionaries to Angola. Coastal cities are made into a hub of trading to help rise the pop. The Navy is worked on as Rabat is made a center of naval action, as Rabat is where most sailors are trained making a Rabat Naval school, that holds harsh rules). The Sultanate begin to work on mass producing Arms and begin to copy European way of growing food.We send a trade envoys, along with sending Imams to spread Islam in West Africa and to South Africa mostly in Benin to win them over. With the spread of Islam in Africa we send imams to help convert them faster, as we send some of there high imams to Rabat to study about Islam. With the victory over Benin City we pull back burning down the city to prevent it as a military hub, the army is pulled back to Jakapa as military defenses are set up, the army begins to dip in for the marching Benin army, we ask the Caliphate for back as our army may be pulled thin, The Maghriban army of 30,000 and an army of 100,000 Malian troops are sent into Benin's city of Yamoussoukro to spread out the Benin forces. a envoy is sent to Guma (tiny grey african state up north) to fight with the Maghreb as in return they will be given land and easier trade with other african states and new world good, as the same is sent to Ziyri (MOD) . We begin to work on creating roads to ease trade routes. The Sultanate begin to expand into the Atlantic coast line by 15 px. The city Algiers is made the capital of the Sultanate as its population grows,The 2nd biggest city is Rabat as Naval troops being to start families in the area. The Sultan begins to works on cities by opening markets and trading centers mostly at Algiers. The spread of Islam in Zaire is less about shoving it down people belief but more of gaining trust of people by giving out food and things like that, after gaining trust of people we begin to spread Islam into Ziyi (Kongo).Ali al Baba is ordered to work to make more improved ships to reach the new world, a prototype is made on paper. Our ships are sent to trade with Zaire,Mali, and tiny west African states.
    • Tajammad Emirate: The Emirate works on preparing for the cold seasons by collecting firewood during the summer. Walls and Houses are reworked on to defend the "Ansari" from animals. Hunting parties are sent to hunt down animals and eat them, while some are killed for there winter fur. A mosque is made called Al Hawqk and is made in hope of rivaling other Mashjids. Haush land is given to Tajamidan people to rule these areas are called "Forts".New World food is sent back home to be traded. Our ships begin to train on how to sail the rocky seas to reach the Pacific Ocean and study the ways to the Pacific ocean. Due to the way of the New World women are given more physically as in helping create the wall or guarding areas. The port (not the best or biggest) of Tajammad is re made along with ocean defense walls and gun ports made along with 50 cannons. The population stands at 5,720 people with a slow rise in pop. seeing the edath of the Ona people the Emir Ali Bakr walks into the Ona land claiming it his and begin to sperateprate smallpox and non smallpox people. The Ona state is annexed into the Emirate and Ona majorty areas are put under a Ona that accepted Islam named Hassan al Badr but some question his loyalty and if hr converted just to gain power.
    • The mod event clearly states they are not at your disposal you have to actually co-ordinate this is not something you can assume. Also the greay african states are disorganized and unable to help. Strike -Feud
  • Rashidun Caliphate: The economy greatly improves to match the increasing culture of the empire. Trade expands across the Mediterranean with Venice, Belka and France to export the various goods of Asia through the Fatha Al-Farun. Cotten is extracted in large quantities from Gujarat and shipped across the Arabian Sea, then through the Middle east to Europe. A lot of cotten is domestically bought as well, however, especially in Upper Egypt. More arcitececture is built across the Caliphate, with finally the Baroque era reaching Egypt and East Africa as it was lacking in previous generations. This causes more immigration of colonists to the East African provinces by Arabs, while more Amharic people move north. The grand palace of Damascus is now utilized by the Caliph for holding public discussions and entertaining nobles from across the Muslim world, from Laurentia to Crimea, Ethiopia, Gujarat, and Sumatra. The navies of Aceh and Jambi are complete, and so the Indian Ocean is secure. Piracy greatly dies out, in spite of occasional incidents from Omani defectors. The Caliphate begins to lessen the enforcement of outlawing slavary, seeing the limited effect it had in the Indan Ocean. In the Middle East and North Africa, however, slavary almost completely dissapears as the culture works to immitate Europe's contracted servants. The Amurid dynasty is given back most of its independence as the Shahdom of Persia, although Banten, Qatar and Bahrain were annexed to the Caliphate. The cultural exchange has started a heightened look at Persian history by the antiquarians of the Middle East. Many want to investigate the ancient history of Persia and see how it relates to the histories of Egypt and Babylon. The Lighthouse of Alexandria is completed, not as large as the older one but certainly more stylish by its baroque finishings. It is also filled with art galleries from across the history of Islam and elaborate tapestries. The Hanging Gardens of Al-Babil, in the residence of the Ayatollah of Iraq is also nearly complete. The maze in the main plaza cotnains shelves plushed with the walls so as to make it seem the plants hang in mid air. A revolution of Philosophy in the House of Wisdom and Alexandria reshapes education. From now on, all scientific discoveries now only adhere to the scientific method, but also an elaborate test of logical tests based on the writings of Euclid and Al-Kindi. One book published describes the theology where God is the origin of all things not only physically, but rationally.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50 px east. Avelskamp and Nova Belgica expand by 50 px each. New Netherlands expands 50 px up the Wacht River (otl Hudson River). Seeing the increased Scandinavian presence in the otl Hudson Bay (called Specht Bay on Burgundian maps), the Burgundian West India Company decides to increase its own presence in the area. The trading fort on Akimiski Island is enlarged, and port facilities are expanded. Back home, tulipmania grips the country, and some nobles have taken to incorporating the flower into their coat of arms. While the government, while owning the East and West India Companies, doesn't fully interfere, but suggests the growers limit their crops so the tulip market isn't saturated, causing a price collapse. Iberia is offered an alliance.
    • Kingdom of Ceylon: the Colonial Guard remains on alert while the war on the mainland rages. (Secret dip) The Burgundian East India Company sends feelers to Punjab, offering the assistance of the Colonial Guard.
    • Kingdom of Malaya: Centralization continue
  • Arawakan Tribal Nation: A new tribal nation is established in Arawakan Guyana and Suriname leading to a United Arawakan nation with a diversity of villages and unurbanized landscapes. The current leaders of the New Nation are elders from selected villages in the new nation have come together to make plans for the new nation. Some of those plans consisted on working on stabalizing the Government, building a moderately sized militia, establishing a permanent but small capitol, and sending tribesmen on expeditions across Arawakan Suriname and Guyana to see what materials and possibly new food sourcesthat could be found throughout the region that can be used to trade from village to village. Also the elders have been planning on starting agricultural zones that are used for growing and maintaining crops and food source by the end of 1638. Also there have been rumors spreading across the new nation of another mysterious nation nearby that have not been confirmed of yet but ar planned to be investigated.
  • Arawakan dip (to Burgundy): Our newly established nation would like to establish a non-aggression pact between both of our nations for at least a decade in order to keep the interest of peace between the two of our nations out of unnecesarry war. We would also have interest in trading with your nation later on (possibly after the expiration of the non-aggression pact) as well.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The royal guards continue convincing contracted servants. Areas interior to Mobassa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue development of Madagascar. We begin training for a light infantry regiment in the Royal Army that would be trained to fight in mountainous terrain. We declare war on Zimbabwe, as the Royal guards march in, and the armies move to the city of Sofala. Akida rounds the Cape.
  • Korea: The Emperor also patronizes bilingualism within China, with Korean being the language of the court, but Mandarin (standarized and based off the Beijing dialect) being promoted as the official lingua franca. Li Zicheng's royalists in occupied territories are systematically purged and massacred, their properties being seized and distributed among defectors. The persecution of court eunuchs begins, as they are held responsible for the collapse of the two previous dynasties (the Ming and the Bao). Meanwhile, the Forbidden City is revamped to incorporate Korean architectural traits. With the capitulation of Beijing, the army is instructed to target Nanjing, the secondary capital and the presumed new seat of government. The royal army is split into two; a smaller expedition to capture Shaanxi, and a larger one to capture Shandong. With agricultural productivity increasing due to the usage of low-maintenance high-yield crops such as sweet potatoes, soy, and maize in Manchurian arable land, many peasants are encouraged to work in industrial complexes to provide weaponry and armoury to support the war campaign. To provide funds and stabilize the value of the currency, quarries are opened to harness northern gold reserves.

1631

Scandinavia improves its colony in Hudson bay, and establishes another colony in Labrador.

The Tulip craze in Burgundy grows to such an extent that Tulips are basically everywhere. It becomes so ubiquitous that even the most basic breed is sold at over 900 thalers, and the demand continues to climb.

The Great Khan and the Mongol Khan die. The Great Khan's son, the new Great Khan, decides to unite with Mongolia by marrying the deceased Mongol Khan's daughter. He is then named Khan of Mongolia. Great Khan becomes Greater.

  • Punjab Confederacy: The current population is around 15 million , whose main demographic are Punjabi's and are mainly Hindu, and the cessation of some of the territories to Aryavarta, have had little impact due to the low population of these provinces. The capital is Pratap Nagar .Currently the damage from the war is being repaired, with the trade with the English boosting the economy. More plantations are built to produce cotton. The defense of the capital is successful (Did the algo but edit conflict so will do it again) and leaving 20,000 soldiers behind, we send 201,594 men (Reinforced and Aryavartan reinforcements(50,000, 20,000 guarding, 35,000 attacking with us)) and attack Maharashtra. It is taken as the Deccans had stripped all troops from their country/The English are left to fend for themselves as the Confederacy realises that the easiest way to end this is to strike at the centre. Relations with Aryavarta are tense at the moment due to the rebellion though, many members of the court realise that a common front must be made against other threats. The Confederacy accepts the offer of a triple alliance. The Confederacy warns its allies to not stop until the Deccans are completely subdued.
  • Archduchy of Austria: Economy continuously improves, with military concentrating on training and recruiting troops. The villages and towns been built, with roads constructing in closer borders for possible trades. The trade relations improve with England, and others as well. Although the farms are producing more food to give to the civilians. The population however stands great, but it's increasing slightly at the moment.
Due to a lack of troops (Deccan Max: 300,000) their Capital of Hyderabad falls. The 50,000 troops had recaptured Orissa in 1628 and were greeted by cheering crowds have moved on and captured OTL Northern Andhra till Kakinada. We offer a treaty to the Deccan Sultanate. The Treaty of Hyderabad.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: seeing the commitment of the Deccan forces to the northern fronts, the Burgundian East India Company decides to intervene against the Sultanate, having long waited for a situation such as this. In an attack, 100 ships and 30,000 men from both the Ceylonese and Malayan Colonial Guards lay siege to Nagpattinam, swiftly over coming the city guard in the absence of Deccan regulars. With the largest city in the area secured, the Colonial Guard secures the areas along the Coromandel coast. Tulipmania continues to spread through Burgundy, and more voices are pushing for a limit to be placed of the growing of Tulips, with concerns being that if the market is saturated, then price collapses become inevitable. While that measure isn't taken, a notice is sent to the major growers, suggesting that they limit their output themselves before the government is forced to take action. Iberia is again offered an alliance.
    • Iberia would be honored to accept an alliance with Burgundy.
  • Papal States: The Chamberlain of the Papal Treasury invests some funds in Tulip Futures, making the Papacy large sums of money very quickly. Through the Avignon Exchange, the profits are turned into Papal scudos, and invested in the treasury. The Nuncio to France tells Charles X that the papacy is not opposed to the return of the pre-Hitler border (provided some minor compensation is paid), however he suggests that a new border [the otl Franco-Italian border] could be agreed to, perhaps if the papacy returned Avignon and the Comtat Venaissin to the French crown. Back home, Pope Zachary makes his encyclical of last year, Pedes Christi, mandatory reading in the seminaries, as His Holiness feels that it is vital for priests to understand the great love God has for all humanity, most especially the humble and meek. The Pope is concerned about the growing power of Scandinavia in the New World, given that country's antagonism to the Catholic faith (even the Northern Rite Church). Missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, the New World, and Southern Africa. A small number of priests from the Korea Mission head to the Great Mongol Khanate to preach the Gospel there.
  •  Arawakan Tribal Nation: The Arawakan Tribal Nation has continued to attempt to develop agriculture across the region and has increasingly expanded their control of nearby villages towards to south into Amazonia(OTL Brazil) increasing territory by 20 miles and 15 miles west into OTL Venezuela through minor conflicts and through submissions to the nation. The leading Elders of the nation have met up to dicuss possible diplomatic relations with other nations nearby to the South East and North in order to organize peace and trade relations to better sustain the nation. Their have been also good news from the expedition that began to be conducted last year and all the men had returned with Deer,Peccary, and a variety of different fruits also found that were not well known previously. This info will be used to find where these animals and fruit have come from which can then be used as a food source to sustain the citizens. Discussions of trade with a nearby nation across the sea in a mysterious land have been discussed as well. Also the villages in the area have also increased in sze since the previous year and now have a developing community. The nation will also continue working on expansion southward deeper into Amazonia and create a more sustainable culture in Suriname and the remaining Non-Burgundy occupied areas of Guyana. Also construction has began on a small scale city near the coast of Suriname for fishing and boating plus as an area of entry for possible trade partners.

He also agrees to pay their way to Vasiligrad and establish their noble residencies. This is relatively successful as many nobles agree to this and with access to Belkas economies across the empire start to diversify seeing that Feudalism is an outdated concept. This is relatively noticeable by their awe, inspired by the amazing cities of Belka, with many being especially enamored with Tarnovo, Sofiya, and Vasiligrad. Vasiligrad continues with its modernization projects of the Theodosian walls, now renamed to the Walls of Kaloyan which are reinforced against cannonfire and are also heavily armed with garrison points, more cannons, and arms lockers. Its said that almost 50,000 men would be needed to man the entire wall. The empire even with the outflow of crowded peple from the cities sees the areas outside of cities take a more noticeable uptake as well as new towns and settlements spring up some of which cater directly to many of the plantation and larger manorial farms in the area providing residencies and other economic opportunity into the area. The empires population reaches 10.2 million and growing however the population boom is over as the disperal of thousands of people to the frontiers has leveled out growth as has the reorganization and reforms ceased their effectiveness in large population changes. With his religious components and most of his new noble elements (Serbs and Vlachs) showing outright hostility towards the islamic kingdoms just across the aegean Tsar Kaloyan begins planning an expedition into Anatolia with the Ecumenical Patriarch of all Belka authorizing the development of a Great Crusade to liberate christians in Anatolia. The Belkan fleet is also given up to clear cut and mass modernization as all but the most modern ships are brought in to be brought up to speed for the future conflict. Tsar Kaloyan also authorizes that the larges "ship of the line" designs are to be contracted out to Russia

As predicted by some minor officials, the demand for Tulips fall off tremendously as people wake up to the fact they are spending thousands of thalers on flowers. The resulitng economic crisis causes several banks in Holland to default, and would have been worse if not for the measures taken.

In India, the lack of response from Deccan and refusal to sign a treaty results in a de-facto end of the conflict. Aryavarta regains Orissa as far as just north of Katinaka, while Punjab takes control over a section of western Maharasthtra to the coast. Although the Burgundy East India Company scores significant victories in the south, they are unable to establish control over any part of Coromandel. England however manages to safely defend its colony of Bulsar.

The Zulu kingdom remains isolated only taking in a European trade ship to better learn the ship designs and officially take home the remaining stranded sailors. Shaka zulu himself plans to tag along with a royal retinue and a modest sum of gold to try to get around europe

We would like to buy 10 Galleons and 90 Frigates to kick start our navy. (France/Burgundy/England Player Response). Currently it is just a cluster of islands waiting to be joined together by reclaiming land from the sea. You can establish Thane as a city and build a big port where the JNPT stands today. You also have Ratnagiri as well.
  • Note: I meant relatively more Muslims compared to other regions in the country.
  • Dev, in this game, there are many more Muslims in India at this time than OTL. So there is probably more than 2 million over there. That region might actually be majority Muslim. ~Warrior
  • The basic thing is that all the Muslim dynasties in India are Muslim minority. There has been no conversion. Nowhere has it been stated. The reason that a large amount of Hindus were not forced and cooperated with these dynasties is why there were no major revolts. -Dev
  • The player of the Delhi Sultanate (orange) tried to convert much of his population to Islam. ~Warrior

However, most funding from the government is diverted from the mliitary, which is seen as unnecessary, and devoted to patronizing arts and science instead. In Damascus, the Caliph hears rumors of this crusade from Belka, and dismisses it outright. The great legacies of Saladdin, Baybars and Al-Najm the Great still prevail in the minds of the Caliphate as proof for the unstoppable might of the House of Islam, where all the previous crusader principalities have long since been forgotten.

1633

The Zulu heir, Shaka travels with the stranded europeans on a large French trade galleon. After reaching France Shaka makes great efforts to attempt to visit more of France, as well as planning for trips to Burgundy, England, and Belka as well hoping to visit the homelands of all the shipwreck survivors

The Call for a crusade from the Patriarch in Vasiligrad leads to a surprising response as nearly 2000 Catholics from the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies all outfitted in their best gear arrive in Vasiligrad. This just happens to be the largest group which has arrived as hundreds of other men have put aside their disdain for orthodoxy in favor of responding to the call to take the cross and partake in the mission.

In West Africa, the Army of Benin re-marshalls its army into full strength as it reorganizes its armies into a force of 300,000 and another of 150,000 using the first to meet mali and further malian advance and the other to begin the siege of the Maghrebi occupied coastal territories. The Beninese navy while technologically behind has numbers on their side in the region and effectively cut off supplies to the Maghrebi expedition.

  • Pontus: We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi and Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. We begin developing the capital of Batumi further and give Trebizond many trading rights, to appease the Greek Pontic population. We continue trade links with Bulgaria and Russia. We begin plans for joining the Great Crusade of the Belka, even though we still distrust them.
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Kaloyan having prepared for years for this moment sets up the first expedition across the bosphorus straits with the first force of about 10,000 which uses a pontoon bridge to cross the straits in short order. The second expedition of 8000 Belkan troops, and the 2000 Sicilians arrive shortly by ship at Izmir immediately putting siege to Izmir and arming the local greeks the siege  The same happens in Nicaea as the city is taken quickly from the garrison with a minor fight. With Izmir surrounded and the areas connected, the expeditionary force is renamed the Belkan Crusader army and the Sicilians having proven themselves effective forces in combat are given the role of the vanguard as the force prepares to push south to the areas in Lycia hoping to secure more ethnic greeks to arm and partake in the crusade. The Tsar specifically meets the most prominent leader of the now free Greeks in anatolia, Michael Ikonion who is awarded the title "Prince of Nicaea" in exchange for his loyalty as a protectorate. Tsar Kaloyan immediately arms nearly 10,000 Greeks who are to take part in this great crusade. and allows them to begin using these forces to establish their new principality while the Crusaders hold the frontier. The Tsar specifically after seeing initial success begins preparing for the eventuality of shipping across a larger portion of the imperial army. The Imperial navy is also heavily deployed as they attack and drive out caliphate patrols and shipping from the relative region beginning to push along the southern coast of anatolia with various battlegroups. The empire noticeably shows mass support for this venture as the liberation of the christians in anatolia is seen as something that should have happened a long time ago.
  • Papal States: News of the Belkan crusade reaches Rome, and many are surprised not only with the immediate success of the expedition, but also with the popularity of the expedition in Sicily. Not wanting to be outdone, and in a show of goodwill to the Eastern churches, Pope Zachary sends 2000 troops to Anatolia to help secure the crusader border. The Pope sends a secret special envoy to Vasiligrad, suggesting that after the success of the Anatolian Crusade, a joint Catholic-Eastern crusade for the Holy Land could be considered. The Papal Nuncio to France suggests that, in return for returning the border to Pre-Hitler levels, the southern Papal-Sicilian border could be expanded slightly southwards as compensation (France respond please). He also asks the french monarch to assist the Immaculata missionaries in French Brasil.
    • Caliphate dip: A letter from the Ulema on behalf of the Caliph is disraught that the Pope would consider alligning with the Vasiligrad patriarch, who they consider heretical, after all the consilorations and overtures the Caliphate had made to the Papacy in years past: opening the free pilgrimage to Jerusalem, opening discussion at Alexandria, and most importantly donating the Holy Relic of the Pot of Abraham.
    • Papal OOC: To be honest I assumed Anatolia and you are separate; you're different colours on the map?
    • Caliph OOC: I mean yeah, you have a point, they are separate, except only that the Ottomans are a vassal of the Caliphate
  • Charles X agrees.
  • Kingdom of England, Ireland and Scotland: King Richard continues to rule Scotland in addition to England and Ireland. Edinburgh defences are finished. Work is continued in Scotland and Ireland to build canals and implement better agricultural practices. More literature is written against the Germans while efforts are made to improve relations with France. Continued migration to the colonies occurs with Scotland now also providing colonists. New Canterbury, New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia are all expanded 25 px. Taxes are maintained at a steady rate to keep a healthy English treasury. Trade relations are improved with Austria, League of Westphalia and Poland while in Asia trade grows with the Punjab and Bengal. With the spread of potatoes they are brought over to England and cultivated. With the spread of chocolate and people's like for it an effort is made to obtain more while the decay of teeth is supposed to be solved by applying sugar to the teeth and so demand for sugar also grows and the colonies so benefit. England has 4.6 million people, The colonies have 0.3 million Ireland has 1.5 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. With Bulsar being held this is good.
  • France: We request that Ptosí submit itself to French rule. (Mod Response)New France begins to expand down the Pilocomayo river into Paranda river in order to use that as a way to smuggle silver out of New France into the Atlantic coast.
    • Potosi Dip: Unwilling to suffer from a full scale invasion by the french, the Aymara people of Potosi surrender and conform to french rule.
  • Russia: Expansion in Siberia continues at 40px. Work on the roads in the Chagatai continues. The town of Irkutsk becomes the new pathway for a road to run from Siberia down into Mongolia and into Korea. The Czar continues to consolidate power. We begin to rally 70,000 men to be sent to Belka. Modernization of the navy continues. We send our Black Sea Fleet to gather in the waters of the Danube Delta.
With the victory over Benin City we pull back burning down the city to prevent it as a military hub, the army is pulled back to Jakapa as military defenses are set up the army is pulled out as our warships are sent to cover them the 60,000 troops are pulled back to Mali, we ask the Caliphate for back as our army may be pulled thin, The Maghriban army of 30,000  are put on standby and send an envoy to Mali to ask for a joint invasion on Yamoussoukro (MOD) . We accept the trade deal with the native tribes as we give them horses and steel in return for food and goods
  • Tajammad Emirate: The Emirate works on preparing for the cold seasons by collecting firewood during the summer. Walls and Houses are reworked on to defend the "Ansari" from animals. Hunting parties are sent to hunt down animals and eat them, while some are killed for their winter fur. The Ona state is annexed into the Emirate and Ona majorty areas are put under a Ona that accepted Islam named Hassan al Badr but some question his loyalty and if he converted just to gain power.
  • Mali agrees to the joint invasion
  • Rashidun Caliphate: Scientific, scholarly and historical progress continues to be made in the wake of the revolution, in spite of silly rumors that Europe would ever consider war with the House of Islam. In Persia, the archaeologists  at last stumble across what is believed to be the grave of Zoroaster, humbly buried in the city of Yazd. This leads to a frenzy of new scholarly works interpreting and re-examining the life of Zoraster, postulating how he fits within the grand scheme of the almighty God. In the field of education, a landmark treatise is published that fully integrates the philosophy of Al-Kindi with the scientific method of Al-Babil. This new method starts with the basic assumptions of theology and scripture as the only first principals, and the rest of knowledge and science is derived from these first principals using mechanics of Euclidean geometry and the Socratic method. The Indian Ocean navy is pulled back somewhat, carefully and slowly transfering some ships of the fleet into the Mediterranean, as had been the strategy since the Golden Jihad. Embassadors with a chest of gold approaches Shaka, asking him to consider staying in Arabia for some time and returning to his own nation by way of the Red Sea. A modern palace in Jeddah with its own array of servants and scholars are already set up and await his arrival. (MOD RESPONSE) EDIT: The Caliphate sends an expedition of trade ships south by sea to open the Zulu kingdom for trade, hearing the story of the shipwrecked crew there. (MOD RESPONSE)

    • Ottoman Empire: Seeing the sudden military defeat at Nicea, and Izmir under siege, the Sultan begins to raise 50,000 troops at Eskisier to prepare for the invasion. An expeditionary force of 10,000 troops, along with the full navy of the Ottomans close in to engage the Bulgarians at Izmir. Although the Sultan wishes to remain cautious with funding the military, for fear of losing the remaining treasury of the Empire, this greatly upsets the Divan who demand they are payed as much as possible for the defense of the Empire. One Emir's family already has fled back to Ankara, after Nicea had fallen, adding to the demand of the Divan to use a more full force to engage the Bulgarians. Although the Sultan reaches out to the Ulema for additional funding, it falls on deaf ears who still are more interested in maintaining control over the Indian Ocean.
  • Arawakan Tribal Nation (revised version): The Arawakan Tribal elders continuously work hard on plans for the ever so growing nation and plans for the installment of 5 cities by 1639-1642 across the nation to be built in specific regions of claimed territory for possibly the purpose of it being political centres for the nation excluding the capital which is now 97% completed and plans for full completion by early next year and a temple for the future ruling family which has still not have been selected yet but will be announced next year with the temple's completion sometime either late next year or the year after. Until then the elders have given the permission for the civilians to move into the city's completed homes and complexes or what in today's times are called townhomes. The city has been also given the name Rosthko. Citizens of the nation have also been demanding the expansion of dirt roads throughout the region to make travel simpler and easier for the people and farmers. The elders have agreed to this and are now expanding on this project with dirt roads slowly becoming more common throughout the region. A village named Mang Koko becomes one of the first villages to be transformed into a town after 2 years of planning and renovating of villages, now there is a total of nearly 12 towns completed or under construction and counting as renovation projects continue. Also 3 selected villages this year have been selected to be battle training grounds for the newly recruited militia for the next couple of years where they will learn how to use newly brought in weapons fro the English and use spears and bows as a secondary option instead of a primary one as the nation begins to get used to used to old world tools and weapons. Also with this larger canoes have been ordered to been made by the elders for the militia in later use for controlling and containing new areas for the nation.Farms also begin to become a common site. News of some cave systems discovered while the already trained 1st militias group in OTL Venezuela were searching and exploring the region searching for other tribal villages to join theirs or to have to take them by force have found precious minerals inside like gold, silver, and magnesium. These will be brought back to the elders which will figure out what should be done with these materials. Development of the region is expected to continue. 10,000 tribesman have been also recruited into the militia.
  • You literally just started and it takes decades to get up to speed, take some time and re-evaluate please -Feud
  • I am sorry I jumped the gun a bit and I will begin revisions later on today specifically for this turn in particular to make it be much more realistic. Thanks for the advice - Adolf Coffee (Orlando)

The Sicilian Council is angered by King Charles of France's decision to modify their borders without assent and vote to remove him unanimously. Sebastien Bonaparte of the French Bonapartes is elected his successor.

Shaka Zulu continues on his tour of europe having already toured France, and Burgundy now heading towards England. While in some cases impressive, Shaka remains heavily commited to his kingdoms religion and practices it daily while in Europe, This is somewhat disheartening to the priests and bishops of England but the Scholars are more interesting hoping to learn about the Zulu religion. An English scholar named John Wick becomes fast Friends with Shaka and agrees to accompany him on his travels which are to take him to Eastern Europe next.

In Anatolia, the Belkan crusade meeting with unexpected success sends waves through the religious bodies of Europe. Some writers condemn the crusade as uneeded aggression against an Islam that has more or less sought its peace with Christianity, other applaud the Belkan crusade seeing it as a final revenge for the centuries of conflict and death brought upon christians in the area.

A group of roughly 3000 highly militant soldiers from Persia volunteer their services to the Ottoman Sultan in an attempt to halt the Advance of Belkas crusade joining the Ottoman sultans army.

In South america the Mapuche kingdom following years of reorganization and building up of cities south of the Qulla Confederacy begin to rapidly expand south absorbing or crushing tribes along the way.

In North America, a large tribe located in the general regions of New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado effectively asserts its dominance over the region. Their name remains elusive however their brutality is unmatched by any other tribes in the area.

Rather than waiting for the next invasion, the Army of Benin bolstered by their new General Simon Achibe invades Mali hoping to cut the head off the snake, marching 300,000 troops into Mali straight for its capital but suffering attrition on the way due to lack of preparation.

  • Tsardom of Belka: With the success of the initial expedition Tsar Kaloyan authorizes the expansion of the Belkan forces in Anatolia sending nearly 40,000 troops across the now reinforced and officially named "Crusaders Bridge". Tsar Kaloyan personally leads the first troops across the bridge. In order to solidify his support for the Greeks in what is now becoming known as the Principality of Nicaea, he marries a young woman named Maria, announcing just a few months later that she is pregnant with his child. He immediately sends her to Vailigrad to live in the opulence and royalty the city exudes. The Tsar is given word the the southern regions of Western Anatolia are secured by the expedition led by the Sicilians. Seeing more volunteers the military forces are restructured as the now 4000 strong Italian force is set up as the vanguard of the expedition. The Tsar puts himself at the head of the army, and immediately begins work on improving local infrastructure to handle the Belkan armies, as well as commanding the final weeks of the Siege of Izmir which falls quickly after he takes command refusing to let the city fall by being starved, demanding that storming the city is the way to go. Casualties are higher than usual but the city falls nontheless. The Tsar begins constructing earthenworks and forts near the tentative border between the ottomans and pours funds into the new greek state to make it a viable fighting ally. Naval forces also continue on their push towards Cyprus hoping to push the Ottoman fleet into port and prevent contesting on the seas.
  • Russia: We continue to expand 40px into Siberia. Construction of the roads in Mongolia and the Chagatai. The 70,000 men that had gathered and trained are shipped off to the North Anatolian Front to join the Belkan army there. The Czar sends general Nikita Khrushchev to the Frontline to study the Belkan army's tactics for greater usage in the Russian military. The Czar declares the new crusade the "Holy Crusade against the Ottoman Menace" and hopefully grab something out of this.

  • Kingdom of England, Ireland and Scotland: We assemble our army and navy. We split them with 40,000 troops going to Portsmouth and the 670 ships of the English fleet and a french fleet of 600 ships (Oct and me discussed this) set off from Portsmouth and sail to Dieppe where we offload our forces and they go under french command. Once having delivered the troops the bulk of the fleet remains at Dieppe while some privateers go out to raid the belligerent German traffic in north sea and the fleet at Dieppe raids passing belligerent German vessels. While we send 5,000 troops and 30 ships to seize OTL Newfoundland and Nova Scotia off the Burgundian this year. Under the presumption France is with us we declare war on Burgundy once our intentions are obvious. We hold 10,000 men at Portsmouth and 15,000 men at London. Meanwhile in Briton Isles we brace ourselves for another war with the Germanic empire and the people are told of the great quest for British survival. The colony in Arcadia is told to brace for war. England has 4.6 million people, The colonies have 0.3 million Ireland has 1.5 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people.
  • France: A french army of 360,000 men supported by an english army of 40,000 men cross into Burgundy. We declare war on Burgundy. This forces advances to the Somme at Hangest Sur- Somme and then chooses to either attack south or north on Ameins or Abbeville depending on where Burgundy stations less troops. If both cities have the same amount we attack Abbeville. The french fleet cooperate with the English fleet. New Valois and New France continue to expand, New France along the Pilocomayo river into the Parando river. Sugar planting and the moving of African indentured servants in New Valois continues.
  • Archduchy of Austria: The economy continues to gather its income, while the population is slightly increasing in Austria. Buildings continue to build near Graz, as to expect to have roads built as well. The trade relations however is improved with others, and might continue to improve in coming years. Fortifications are built in case of a severe threats.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: the 87,500 strong army, placed on alert after word of the English and French Mobilizations, falls back to wait for a push on Brussels, or towards the strategic fortresses of Troyes or Dijon. Beyond that, field battles are avoided while Prussian reinforcements approach. A notice is sent to Iberia, invoking the alliance signed with it (PLAYER RESPONSE). Other notes are sent to potential allies, such as Scandinavia and pro-Prussia-Burgundy Imperial States, asking them to contribute to the defense of Burgundy, and the Western border of the HRE as a whole (MOD RESPONSE PLS). Meanwhile, the Malayan Colonial Guard is mobilized, and 60,000 troops, plus 6,000 mercenaries, attack Borneo.
    • French- English response: We seize Abbeville, Ameins, Arras and Calais. 40,000 English troops and 260,000 French troops dig in and are fortified in Calais while we move the rest of the troops back to Montlucon in central France so they can respond to either an Iberian attack or an attack from southern burgundy.
      • If you had put your army under French command, then why are you posting for the deployments? Your posting for the entire French army. -Guy
    • Your not playing as Prussia. I don't disagree that Prussia would send troops but how many needs to be decided by an indepdent mod since NK is inactive from PMIV. The rules say PU isn't played the same player unless it's a vassal. You can't post as if your Prussia. Person
    • Chalres X responds by invoking his alliance with Iberia in this war.
  • Punjab Confederacy: The grand armies of Punjab are victorious and march over the lands of the aggressors. The western third of Maharashtra is taken over and occupied with loyal nobles gaining lands. The mercenaries have begun disbanding, as well as 75,000 of the soldiers are they are given lands to help pacify the land. The current population is around 17 million due to the addition of Maharashtra. The capital is Pratap Nagar. Currently the damage from the war is being repaired, with the trade with the English boosting the economy. In order to inspire scientific progress, the Royal University of Pratap Nagar is established while grants are given to gifted individuals. More plantations are built to produce cotton while manufactories are built to create textiles. Thane is chosen to become the main Punjab port city. There are plan to build a massive naval facility to house the navy and even build a trade fleet with a large industrial complex (based on the scale of the OTL Venetian Arsenal, and the Arsenale Nuovo). The Royal Thane Academy is also built to train future naval officers. Building this facility is expected to take 5 years to be minimally operational and 12 to be fully operational. Construction has already begun and two years in. The English have sent naval experts to help build the ports as well as help design our fleet. There is controversy in the military about whether to adopt the European designs or the traditional designs. It is decided that one the port is at minimal capacity, an experimental squadron will be built combining the traditional designs with European sailing rigs, as well as modifying the ships to get the best attributes of both designs. People are flocking to Thane due to construction turning it into a bustling port city. Due to an earlier agreement, the English help the Confederacy set up cannon manufactories and arsenals thus help the army modernise, and they are beginning to produce large amounts of guns, while complexes are made in many cities to facilitate the modernisation of the military. The Chhatrapati decides to create a small standing army, due to the command issues and difficulties of mobilisation of feudal levies. While the princes worry about the added power of the monarchy, the Chhatrapati has assured them that the army serves only to keep order in the country against foreign enemies. The army is composed from the most distinguished veterans of the Deccan War, as well as the most able recruits.
  • Korea: Emperor Kim Seothae continues his conquest of China (particularly the Shandong and Shaanxi campaigns), purging loyalist elements within the annexed territories. While he has only a nominal claim over China, he and the imperial court drafts a charter which turns China into a bidualistic state with three constituent parts: Korea (which will be administered as a single province), China proper, and frontier regions. The charter formally asserts his authority over the three realms. Hangul, due to its featural, alphabetic, and syllabic qualities, continues to be promulgated as the ruby script to ease the learning of Hanzi. The fortification of the Liaodong wall coupled with the enforcement of the immigration quota continues. The mass-settlement program in Manchuria continues, with a quarter of Manchuria now comprised of ethnic Koreans. With agricultural productivity and the food supply proliferating due to the incorporation of low-maintenance high-yield crops such as sweet potatoes, soy, and maize in Manchurian arable land, many peasants and serfs are encouraged to work in industrial complexes to provide weaponry and armoury to support the war campaign. To supply the war effort with funds and the avoid hyperinflation, quarries are opened to harness gold reserves. To heighten the prestige of the Korean royalty to the Chinese, sacks of rice and a small sack of golden coinage are given to each household.
  • Sakha: We expand into Siberia, and ask Korea to help us in this endeavor, seeking closer realtions with them. The economy grows minimally, but continues to be reliant on fishing and small scale agriculture. A government starts to form, called the Tsptf (pronounced "Tespatef"), but for now, it only has the power to raise a small army.
    • Korean diplomacy: Korean chaebol firms send financial aid to this endeavor. However, the Emperor requests that Sakha joins its tributary system.
    • Russian Dip: We offer many weapons and ways of fishing and hunting in exchange of Sakha not becoming a Korean tributary as Korea has no business in Siberia.
