The Ming Dynasty still rules over the vast lands of China. On the other side of the world, the Hundred Years War continues between England and France. Europe is still stuck in the old ways of feudalism and chivalry while the notions of a New World are considered figments of imagination.

We welcome you to the long awaited fourth expansion of that immortal series. Welcome to Principia Moderni IV! Starting in 1400 AD, this is the dawn of the modern world and the tail end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance is just kicking off in Europe, while the nations in the western side of the continent are locked in the last gasp of the Hundred Years War. The Muslim world is still reeling from the invasions of Turks and Mongols, with the Caliphate resting in the collapsing Mamluk Egypt and the Ottomans on the rise in Anatolia. Make it count.

The first game was the most successful on the wiki, leading all the way to the modern day with mostly plausible posts and little controversy. The second game reached almost to the modern day, but failed due to a plethora of ASB events and moderator bias. The third game was much more worthy of the first, almost running into implausibility but climbing back into a shining glory by the end. Riding on the latest reforms of map games since the end of PMIII, this is the most logical next step in that evolution. Remember above all other rules — have fun.

Banned Users

A ban from plausibility strikes lasts thirty days, after which the third strike is repealed and the banned player is unbanned. However, the newly unbanned player rejoins the game with two strikes, as a form of probation.

Banned temporarily

  • Dev - 1682 (60 days)

Plausibility Strikes

Three strikes and you're out! Each strike resets after 30 years of the most recent strike.

  • Adolf Coffee - I (1732)

Moderator Strikes

These are strikes for moderators and how they moderate. The same three strikes rules apply. If a moderator is banned from moderating, however, they can still play as their nation. Mod strikes can be delivered in one of three ways:

  1. If a sufficient number of players (more than half of all players voting) vote to give a moderator a strike.
  2. If I, Scraw, give them a strike.
  3. If a majority of all mods (ie more than half of the total number of mods, excluding that moderator) vote to give a moderator a strike.

Moderators can be given strikes for the following reasons:

  1. Exhibiting bias that would benefit the nation they are playing.
  2. Exhibiting bias that would negatively affect a player they have a personal dispute with.
  3. Making a ruling that contradicts a proven fact from OTL or an established fact from earlier in the game.
  4. Overruling a decision of a majority of moderators.

Alchemical experiments around Europe cause varying results. Some places, accidents ocurr and bodyparts are permanently damaged, but in others, the hunt for the philosopher's stone goes well as Enlightenment followers learn more about the natural state of materials.

Maharasthra and Rajasthan do not join with Bengal, but instead ally with each other against the impending British and Muslim forces. The Thugee cult has establisehd a fully organized monothesitic religion in both of these states under an uknown individual known only as Guru Nanak. (Note: these aren't actual nation names, the indian nation in this time period are nowhere similar to India's provinces in modern day OTL)

The Catholic, Orthodox, and Coptic churches are close to a full agreement in the Council of Alexandria [guys let's try to wrap this up].

Sicily's influence in Italy causes stirring within the states of the Italian League, with some cities and villages on the peninsula siding with the political and philosophical stances of the Kingdom and the Papacy.

Sicily player and Callum please check the 1730 Arbitration of Rome(Principia Moderni IV Map Game)

  • Maghreb: Maghrebi sailors voyaging to Angola establish a fort in Cabinda. A petroleum seep occurs in Tunis and a Maghrebi alchemist begins to study the substance that comes out of it. Maghreb also sends sailors to the Gambia to establish a fort there. The Sultan also begins several projects to build universities, advocating for a secular aquisition of knowledge. They also begin contacting pirates to get them to turn into mercenaries for Maghreb to minimize the diplomatic damage of the pirates in the mediterranean. Maghreb sends an envoy to Belkas and the Italian League in hope of an alliance against the the Kingdom of Sicily (Player Response).
    • ' Tajammanid Emirate: The Emir leads a small Jihad into areas north of the emirate, conquering and converting a few mapuche tribes. They expand '50 px into Patagonia. The settlement of Tajamman becomes more developed.
    • The region is wholly inhospitable -Feud
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: Al Maqadas is further developed.
    • Arawaka: The Kazir of Arawaka writes a Fatwa to meld some Arawak myths into Islam.
    • Sicilian Diplomacy: We warn the Maghreb against any moves to ally with European powers in the name of detriment towards Sicily and her allies.
      • You shouldn't know about this.
      • Sicily OOC: Even if I didn't know about this, this still serves as a general warning to the Maghreb.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Theodore II retires to his grand palace in Medinah Jamil, surrounded by rows of stunning Baroque art from themes of the Bible and Ethiopian history. In the ten years since the end of the Second Arab-Ethiopian War, the economy and infrsatructure of Ethiopia has been completely revived and strengthened to its best capacity, especially by the harvest of natural resources for the nation. Cotton, coffee and gold are the main exports. The navy and military are completely upgraded to modern tactics, but the hardware remains the way it was before the war. However, the navy is only contained as ships within the Nile River. The native Ethiopian culture is completely revived, with the only addition of Arab baroque for art and music. The standard Amharic language becomes ubiquitous across the nation. A new rock hewn church is constructed in Alexandria. The Solomonic royal family lives comfortably in the palace of Medinah Jamil. Theodore's wife, Queen Layla, raises her three children, which are one son and two daughters.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: In February of the year 1730, Sultan Jalil make his governmental reforms, mostly called the Mujtamae Reforms, which he promised the previous year. With the reforms, he create eight bureaucratic organizations known as Mujtamae, each one covering an aspect of society and politic (Trade, Navy, Army, Justice, Construction, Coinage, Urban life and Rural life). As such, foreign merchants must now register to the Mujtamae Altijara (Trade) in order to trade on Cyprus. The Sultan also decide that since he is already escorting the Caliphate's traders to India, it would be a waste to not use this opportunity to trade with India themselves. As such, Cypriot ships which travel to India will now also escort Cypriot merchants and, to boost registration at the Mujtamae Altijara, will escort any foreign merchant registered at the Mujtamae Altijara (in exchange of a cut in the profits, of course). The Sultan also order the constructions of new ships for his fleet to fill the new harbor built last year. The Sultan ask once again the Blekan Empire if Cyprus could hire naval engineers to modernize their fleet and work at the Mujtamae Albahriu (Naval Society).
    • Sicilian diplomacy: Seeing that the Belkan Empire sees itself as above the affairs of the sultanate, Sicily extends a hand and offers to modernize the Cypriot fleet.
    • How did you get there. you are blockaded? -Feud
    • OOC (Cyprus): You're talking about me or about Sicily?
    • Sicily. the nation is pretty locked in right now, going in or out would be extremely difficult.
    • Belkan Dip: Due to our superior naval technique the Belkan naval wrights offer to build the Cpyriot navy as a contract.
    • Cyprus: We gladly accept the offer. The Sultan also accept the offer of the Sicilian, since he is neutral to the small crisis in Italy, sending a ship to pick up the italian engineers. (MOD ANSWER if the blocus let the ship pass or not)
    • OOC: It's not a mod answer you are trying to bypass a Belkan Blockade, no you cannot pass 300 of some of the most well armed ships in the world. -Feud
    • OOC (Cyprus): Well, I can forget getting the italian engineers then.
    • OOC(Belka): They don't even really have a fleet regardless. none of it are ships of the line, its a dated fleet at best. At least mine is up to par with the great colonizers for redundancy purposes.
    • Sicilian OOC/diplomacy: Don't let tensions flare up again over Cyprus. There's already enough trouble in Italy. ~Orange
  • Sicily: While tensions remain high on the peninsula, the Prince-General agrees to a mediation by the Papacy. Troops are withdrawn form the Italian border. Despite the move towards de-escalation, Sicily moves towards France and Savoy for alliances (Oct, Rex RESPONSE), just in case another diplomatic incident breaks out. We also warn the Maghreb against any moves to ally with European powers in the name of detriment towards Sicily and her allies.
Despite what historians may one day call the "Italian Crisis," construction of the University of Naples moves forward, its architecture drawing inspiration from the great Italian buildings of the Renaissance, while also mixing in some elements of Muslim architecture to reflect Sicily's Islamic history. Great works of Sicilian art from all around the kingdom are bought and moved into the university's completed rooms. Trade with Cyprus continues.
    • Sicily OOC: And just so you know folks, I won't be attempting any more false-flag operations, at least for quite a while.
Also, I'm skeptical about an Anglo-Belkan alliance; Britain has no business in Mediterranean affairs, and the two countries have nothing in common other than both hating Iberia (come on, this isn't Europa Universalis 4). European alliances are getting pretty World-War-1-esque here. ~Orange

P.S. This may be a bit random, but do you think it would be appropriate to name Italy this timeline's "powderkeg of Europe?" With Bulgarian dominance in the Balkans, this most certainly can't be applied there. However, throughout this game, the various powers have been competing for influence in Italy, sometimes leading to bloody conflicts: the Kingdom of Italy, the Sicilian War of Independence, Papal expansion wars, and now the curent Italian Crisis. I think it would be appropriate for, as an event in 1731, that a European country (preferably a neutral one) publish a newspaper giving Italy that title.
    • Belkan OOC: This isn't the first time the Belkans and British have allied against Iberia or allied in general. there is an in game historical precedent to Britain joining Belka against Iberia also ive helped Britain before this as well against Burgundy during the war of Austrian succession. Anglo-Belkan relations are highly positive of each other since in all cases it led to general gain for both sides. Resuming our previous alliance is not really so out there.
    • Sicily OOC: Even if you have allied before, Britain does not care whatsoever about Italy, the Mediteranean, or your puppet state. Britain is by no means a continental power. They're busy enough fighting wars to subjugate India, and for the past few centuries, what have they done? Colonize the Americas. Britain cannot project power into the Mediterranean; any thoughts otherwise are absurd. ~Orange
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. Settlement in the southern islands continues, especially in Pukapuka and the surrounding islands, where traders stop en route to the Tu'i Tonga Empire. Settlers and traders continue to head west, following the route taken by Véron and other foreigners, leading to Majuro being more heavily visited, as well as other islands in the OTL Marshall Islands. Contact is established with Pohnpei, leading to increased trade further west of Hema Pae 'Aina. Hawaii's riflemen continue to be drilled and trained, primarily by René de Froulay and other advisers. Gaspard Ribault's tutoring of the king and a few other nobles in writing continues, as does the training of scribes to record Hawaiian history and legends. The king also continues receiving tutoring in European/world history and geopolitics. Expansion in the southern islands and the rest of Polynesia continues, with the Hawaiians using the technology they recently acquired to further their influence in the south. The king formally claims the northwestern Hawaiian islands, which had been loosely under his influence already, or under Kauai's, and he encourages settlement of Nihoa and a few other islands. A French trader stops in Hawaii and hires a few native Hawaiians as laborers. The king orders a few trusted individuals to accompany the traders, potentially learning more about the rest of the world. One of Kamanawa's sons, Naukane, who had been in the islands as an envoy between the two distant parts of the kingdom, agrees to go on the voyage. He is joined by one of the king's sons, Kamāʻuleʻule, known by his nickname Boki, and Kamanawa ʻŌpio, son of Kepoʻokalani, the Chief of Puna.
  • Guuti Empire: One shaman has finished his study of the stars and claims that the stars are a message about white men to the east. Some Caribou riders begin feeding Guuti's blood to their Caribou. A witchdoctor brews a potion which she calls "Guuti's Tears" and causes extreme pain. It can be made in a gas or liquid form. A scholar studying a bunch of strange symbols written by a now dead shaman high on Guuti's blood(this will be later named the Dead Man's Codex) determines that each of the symbols actually correlates with a sound in the Chipewyan dialect. Another shaman claims the symbols are actually a map of the world, while yet another claims that they are a map of the stars.
  • Poland: King Wladyslaw is 19, the Polish Sejm continues to be controlled by the noblemen. They have ordered a great Cathedral to be built one the likes of which have never been seen before one larger than St Peter's and with the greatest depictions of christ in the known world. The funds for such a massive undertaking have been diverted from the Military, Jan Pawlak has been commissioned as the architect with a relatively unknown painter in Francis Bouchard along with Santiago Cid. A composer named Albert Mulak is gaining fame for his piece Krakow Concertos considered a fine piece of music He has been given funding from the King to promote arts through the Kingdom. The 60,000 men of the Polish peacetime army have marched towards the Hungarian border beginning to set up border posts and fortifications. This is a purely peaceful operation keen on the training of Polish forces for possible military action against an enemy that would not damage our relationship with a close friend in Hungary. Another large construction project is being started an Opera House dedicated to the advancement of Polish culture through music. A symphony is also planned, but will not begin construction until the next year due to time.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:We Keep exploring lands and we find the Comanche but we do greaten our relations with them yet. We also Build our fleet to have a total of ten boats. We Ask the Papal States and Iberia if we can buy guns from them(player response). We put more money in our mines to get more gold. We also make more roads and we connect Mzer and Diltwa Wituye to the bay area to get a route to begin building a new city there.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees to open the arms trade to Mzerka now that they are a protectorate.
  • Persia: The land of Persia is worked on as the Sha Al Faris works on expanding trade into India and the Jaffarid state. The city of Tehran is picked the capital as most trade hubs are sit up around it. The military is re organized as generals are picked for loyalty and and effectiveness. With the new military gear from the mid east we begin to work on copying them into a Persian form. Horse men from mostly the North East of the nation are picked to join special assault units " Al Farsi", they are sent to the Sha to give Ba'yah to him in Theran and are given high stature in the army after completing harsh military training. A religious foundation is found by an ayatollah named Masud in the city of Theran, this group finds a large support in the city of Theran,North East and South West of the nation, This foundation begins to gain more support as youth from mostly middle class families begin to follow the new organisation. The ships from the maghreb are improve and study to be copied, the navy is worked on to have 50 warships in peace time and up to 300 ships ready for war. Traders are sent to India and S.E. Asia as they begin to work as trying to have Iran be seen as the gate to the East and West (in trade). The government begins to work on creating waterways, creating man made rivers and organizing ways of farming to help improve the population.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area. . Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Several libraries are built in Swahili.  Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies. The army at Sofala continues training. Modern battle tactics are adopted. The Royal Society of Learning posits the question of finding the Longitude at sea and offers a large reward.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: We continue to politically integrate Qamar.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Iberia: Iberia closely monitors the situation in Sicily, and keeps their fleet on standby and army stationed in Sicily in case the conflict escalates. Half of the troops sent to Sicily are diverted to Malta instead; the other half return to Iberia. Training of the grenadiers continues. After years of gathering support for his colonial ambitions in Iberia and Nova Lusitânia, Alfonso de Pinedo embarks on another voyage to the Solomon Islands, this time with the intention to establish a colony. His fleet of five ships and ~450 colonists first lands at the Marquesas Islands in June to resupply, but poor relations with the natives forces the expedition to leave early, resulting in the deaths of several dozen islanders. Pinedo is successful in more thoroughly charting the southern islands, however, before setting off again for the Solomon Islands. After briefly sighting one of the Cook Islands, the expedition finally lands on the island of Nendo in late August, which they name Santa Cruz. Their settlement by the bay is built quickly with assistance from the natives, but things take a turn for the worse when the settlement suffers an outbreak of malaria and begins to run low on food and necessities. The islanders, who rely on subsistence farming, are unable to provide for the colonists, and some are robbed or killed by members of Pinedo's party against his orders, leading to general hostility with the natives. Pinedo has the leader of these mutineers executed, further dividing the colonists. Pinedo himself dies soon afterwards, and one of his captains takes charge. With casualties mounting, he decides to abandon the colony and return to Nova Lusitânia. Overall, the expedition is a disaster, with only about 120 survivors. Meanwhile, having signed a treaty with Comancheria, the Iberian colonies in Arcadia now extend beyond the Rio Grande to the new frontier. The provinces of Nova Saragoça (OTL Coahuila) and Texas are split off from Nova Leão as a result of this expansion, and everything east of Galveston Bay is given to Mêcicipi. Texas' first proper settlement is founded at Santa Isabel (OTL San Antonio) around a Franciscan mission of the same name, while the rest of the colony remains sparsely populated by scattered missions that have yet to grow into civilian settlements. Maranhão expands into the OTL states of Maranhão and Piauí. Fur traders build trading posts up the Mississippi, expanding the colony. Mêcicipi signs a treaty with the Natchez and Chickasaw, keeping Iberian settlers unmolested from raids in exchange for regular gifts. Iberian merchants gain increasing influence in Goa, Makassar, and East Timor. Makassar grows dependent on Iberian trade.
    • Iberia to Belka: The naval blockade is a direct attack on Sicily by Belka, and an act of war. If Belka does not stand down its fleet, then Iberia will protect its ally. We do not wish for war, but Belka is intentionally provoking war by taking military action, not in the context of the Italian League, but separately and without lawful cause.
  • Ququququ: The Tribal Union's raiders are, as previously stated, known in the wider area. After contacting the Kaluli, the Ququququ begin expanding their Unions riches by copying the Kaluli agricultural knowledge throughout their lands. The Ququququ begin implementing the Kaluli creation myth into their traditional stories. As the beliefs and practices of the Ququququ and their allies become more and more similar, the Ququququ officially introduce the Sambia, Fore and Kaluli as members of the Ququququ union. Namton A'fao Koito, along with the Council, announces that they have analysed the beliefs of all tribes and have come to the conclusion that all members of the Ququququ, and possibly even other tribes on this land, are quite possibly related to each other, and therefore should unite for the common good.
    • Bilibil: With the help of numerous Ququququ workers the Bilibil rebuild their trade canoes and restore some homes, while new ones are built on the coast of the Ququququ union.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is the obvious spread of all those ideas from Europe which are taken in by the nobility and clergy. The soldiers in Malwa continue patrolling the interior of the country and the borders to stop infiltration. These two states ruled by the Thugee where ever they may be are respected in their decision to be ruled the Thugee but we came in at the acceptance of Malwa to help maintain law and order which is what the Army of Islamic India will do. Contuined mining of coal at seams starting at the sea. As less people are employed in agriculture due to advances some have to move to towns and cities to find work. Agricultural revolution continues to work with the country continuing use of land reclamation, four field crop rotation and enclosures. England has 6.5 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.6 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The army undergoes a shifting of forces to the south of England with 35,000 in England, 3000 in Ireland and Scotland each and 2000 in Wales while an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 5000 in Arcadia, 2000 in English Maiam, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 150 ships stationed in Bristol. Trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe is profitable. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament while King William is now of age. The travelling teachers continues to be implemented as they move to more villages to teach more children. The Brown Bess musket continues to be put into service and starts introducing in the Army of Islamic India and trained with while Colonel Boris Johnson finishes introducing Grenadiers to the army and is given command of a regiment in England. The roads and the canals are given maintenance to ensure the transport network of Britain is in good shape.
    • British Arcadia: The 5000 British troops in Arcadia are spread out with 1000 in New York, 2000 in Henry's land, 1000 in New Gwynedd and the remaining 1000 are divided between the remaining areas. In addition local militia forces do exist but they aren't standing and are spread out although they are armed. In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the river Stout. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. There is a militia of 21,000 citizens who are while unprofessional do have weapons and supplies. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
  • Belkan Empire: Tsar Peter in good faith of the Rome accords stands down roughly half the fleet and resumes them to further patrols around the Eastern Med while keeping 150 in and around Sicily officially lifting the general blockade except for preventing very clearly Troop ships in accordance with the pope wishing to de-escalate the conflict. While the accords are taking place much of the Belkan armies and its allies are put on standby and in good faith the Belkan armies fall back from the Sicilian border and establish a camp just south of Abruzzo far enough back from the border to not be provoking. This also leads to the quick building and establishment of a Fort as well as the redirection of resources to fortifying Abruzzo from the quiet city into an absolute fortress expected to be fully fortified by the beginning of the next year. The Response to Iberia is a quiet Brush off as with the accords in place the potential for war is low and violating the traditional truce terms of a diplomatic mission would turn most of Europe against the Iberians. The tsar in his old age and failing health is forced to abdicate in favor of his son Vladimir, however the opulent and financially destructive attitude for the time being has been replaced with a shrewd man with clear diplomatic leanings but also the will to carry out a war to its bitter end. He sees the interference in italy as an absolute affront to his nations political sphere and allies and backs up the Italian league doubly influecing their politics and population with italian printed propaganda aimed at establshing pride in the Leagues short but proud history highlighting the absolutely near perfection that the Leagues army was able to perform in the last war. While all this is going on the home front remains on alert but tired as many of the people accustomed to Belkas inactive political role and generally hands off policies with its allies and other foreign engagements. However many remain ready regardless of their personal ideas seeing the clear aggressiveness of the Sicilians against the league. With war so close the Field Marshalls, commanders, and generals of Belkas army oust the nobility from their military positions asserting "the military is for the defense of our empire, our people, and our way of life, not for you to pad your prestige" The Nobles attempt to respond by pulling loyal units with them only for most of the units save 10,000 personally paid professional troops to split. The Nobility seeing their position untenable release these troops from their service and turn to their new tsar for assistance. However, Tsar Vladimir denies them agreeing with the military. The Nobility involved in the appointment scandals are sent home in shame. The Ecumenical Patriarch returns home celebrating the success of the council of alexandria and officially reinstates proper relations with the Papacy.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 5 px. Tsar Pyotr commissions five new frigates to the Black Sea fleet. The army continues modernization. The Tsar tastes tea as it moves tis way westward. Russian traders continue traveling across the far east bringing back exotic products. The only true fur sales in East Asia are in Manchuria, Korea, and northern Japan.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: Maryland expands 50 px north into OTL Florida. New Germany expands 50 px up the Knights River (otl Alabama river). Saxony is warned about going to war further with its neighbors, and is told to cease military action against Anhalt (since there's no algo, I assume the war technically isn't over). This is their final warning. Westphalian and Franconian HRE states are asked for assistance in defending their neighbors if Saxony continues to be aggressive (mod response pls). Meanwhile, Dutch shipyards quietly lay down the first ships of the 120-gun Triomfant class, the first ships-of-the-line to be sheathed in copper.
    • OOC Note: due to my summer camp work schedule, this is the first opportunity iced had today to post.
  • Italian League: The military is placed on high alert and mobilized to the borders, where they form defensive positions, in the case of a war breaking out against the league. The League's Consul officially states that he wishes to avoid war at all costs, and also work with their Italian neighbors to the south. Some of the more jingoistic and liberal elements of the governing assembly are particularly angered by Belka's sudden movement of troops into the country. The more radical elements of the government, and some of the populace of the north, condemn the move as a blatant occupation, enforcing Belkan influence over an independent nation unwilling to be subjugated by Slavic foreigners. One young and ambitious politican in particular, Giovanni Facta, delivers a rousing speech citing the very treaty that formed the nation in 1651, in which Belka put in writing that the Italian League would become, and indefinitely remain, and independent and autonomous nation, and that a war for or against either side would go against the very constitution that governs the league. He even makes allusions to the Lombard League, the vicious fight to free Italy of foreign influence, and ultimately condemns the war. Ultimately, the still overly conservative government argues back that the Belkan assistance is necessary to guarantee the independence of the nation, with moderates begrudgedly agreeing, if only for the sake of protecting the nation. We send a delegation to Rome immediately to help quell the conflict.

Following the popularity of Jan Pawlak in Krakow, numerous prospective scientists travel to the university in Krakow to study under him.

As the hunt for the Philosopher's stone continues, neocynicists start throwing marbles at Enlightenment followers.

  • Sicily: With negotiations going nowhere in Rome, troops are still withdrawn; however they remain alert at a garrison near the border. While pleased that the Belkan military has backed down somewhat, the Prince-General is still angered by the fact that the blockade remains in place. Seeing as the Belkans have circulated laughable Italian propaganda and not starting a war, Sicily does the same. The usual Sicilian pride propaganda is circulated. Among the ethnic Greeks in the kingdom, the Prince-General prints propaganda promoting Greece's long history of independence, their roots to the Byzantine Empire, and encouraging to rise up against their Slavic oppressors. This propaganda is printed in hopes of stirring anti-Belkan, Greek separatism among the populace, which the government hopes will eventually spread to Belka. The Prince-General reiterates the alliance offers to France and Savoy, telling France that in order to secure their interests in Italy, they must defend against the Belkan-backed Italian League. (SECRET, no peeking Belka) A request to change sides is sent to Russia, promising that if negotiations break down and war breaks out, they will receive Bessarabia and Constantinople (Tsargrad). (Orwell) (END SECRET)
Despite this, construction of the University of Naples continues, with some cleverly hidden built-in self-defenses installed.
    • Papal Dip: The Pope has made a proposal for peace.
    • Tsar Pyotr mearly laughs and sends the original letter to Vasiligrad and one letter to the Sicilian king. "Dear Leader of Sicily whos name i do not know, Thank you for the offer but i must decline, also btw you are stupid for sending me this Sincerly Tsar Pyotr I of Russia"
  • Saxony: Saxony reminds Prussia-Burgundy that it is not against HRE states policy to allow internal wars yet. Also, they cite that the letter from Bamburg showed that they were planning to attack Saxony first. As for Anhalt which had already been incorpated into Saxony it would stay part of Saxony. Meanwhile it's military takes up defensive positions all around Saxon borders and riders are sent in the night to all their allies within the HRE. (Mod response) (Secret) They also send a message to the Polish king and Austria asking for their assistance and that the Sicillian War be ignored for the moment as a HRE civil war had the potential to erupt. (End of Secret) However, they are willing to stand down.
  • Italian League: We continue to train our military forces and construct defenses in the north and south of the city, in the event of war. Growing pressure from the more liberal in the government and the city representatives from the north lead to the government officially demanding that Belka withdraw from the capital city, seeing as there is no reason in particular to garrison our capital now that our own military is mobilized. Belka still has military access within the country, however, the logistics of housing such a large force concentrated within the city is deemed unneccessary. We ask that the Belkans not garrison forces at all, feeling that there isn't particularly a need for it (Remember: We don't know that Austria is in a secret alliance with Sicily. The fact that Belka is fortifying their northern border and also occupying Northern Italy is toeing the line of metagaming), however the government doesn't particularly press the matter yet at this time. Giovanni Facta, and other liberals, begin quoting Niccolò Machiavelli (or whatever the ATL equivalent is) in their speeches, who appealed to Italian patriotism by urging Italians "to seize Italy and free her from the Barbarians", back in 1532. This proto-nationalism, inadvertedly and somewhat ironically created by Belka's own issued propaganda in the north, is created directly by the strain, or at least perceived strain, of foreign influence in the peninsula, slowly begins to grow amongst the country's more liberal circles, sparked by enlightenment thinking. Some of the more radical even go as far as to say that the Italian League would be better served aligned with their Italian brethren to the south, however, this statement alienates many, who are reluctant to turn their back against their loose ally in favor of a nation threatening the League's own independence and security. A young general named Carlo Bonaparte, who is actually partially of Sicilian descend, being related to the famous Pietro Bonaparte of the seventeenth century, is placed in command of the military garrison in the north. Unknownst to the government, Bonaparte sympathesizes with the Liberal agitation striking in parts of the nation, at least as far as it advances his own agenda, and secretly allies with Facta and another extremely wealthy individual, Vincenzo Mazzini, essentially forming a triumvirate alliance with two of the government's more radical but influential statesmen. Meanwhile the reigning consul, Matteo Forlani, a staunch conservative and Belkan supporter, attempts to crack down on the spread of the englightement and the growing liberalism in the nation, inadvertedly spreading its popularity. Arrests and executions increase dramatically in the north of the country, leading to the consulship being nicknamed the "Reign of Terror" in parts of the country.
    • No Nationalism -Nate
    • Belkan Dip: We agree to withdraw our Ionian allies from Trento but however re-iterate that Austria has a claim to the Italian league, and due to our extremelt cautious military training and curriculum the Belkans express heavily that Austria could very well be considered a problem in this war which has seen many rather "random" actors attempt to join.
    • OOC Feud: I very clearly stated my reasoning. I have the manpower to do it and ive been stabbed in the back by a friendly state before. Its literally in my martial curriculum. so no im not based out of nothing here
  • Maghreb: The Sultan makes a list of all nations his pirates are allowed to raid: Mali, Iberia, Sicily, and any nations allied with those countries. Pirates will not have their plunders taxed if they raid the aforementioned countries. The Sultan also begins raising an army near Mali and claiming that they practice a version of Islam tainted with African black magic who cannot be trusted. The Alchemist studying the petroleum accidentally blows up his lab, discovering the substance to be extremely flammable. The Sultan orders people to capture it and begin weaponizing it. He also sends colonists to OTL Bahia Blanca to establish a colony to connect up with the Tajammarid Emirate as it doesn't seem to be growing. In Fez, a branch of enlightenment thinking imported from europe grows with Islam and berber culture incorporated into it. Various members of the royal family and viziers begin toying with the idea of replacing arabic with berber as the official language. The sultan establishes a Grand Kazir, or commisioner for the berber muslim establishment. The Grand Kazir begins modified islam to fit with Berber culture. The berber language becomes adopted by more of the country. Maghreb pirates raid various cities in Mali based off of the incentives given by the Sultan. The philosopher in Tunis formulates a new government model for the Sultanate that mimicks the Rashidun Caliphate and has viziers, sultans, and kazirs elected by the populace or congresses of people elected by the populace. A popular artist in Tunis begins working on minimalist geometric art based off of the Tamazight alphabet. His style, known as Tamazightism, grows and spreads across various mediums. The Sultan also offers incentives to older pirates thinking of retiring to settle along the coast of OTL Western Sahara to help colonize it. The Sultan also offers Belka the ports of Algiers and Kenitra to rent for 50 years in exchange for a steady supply of guns and for Belka to help in modernizing the Maghrebi military (Belka Response).
    • Tajammarid Emirate: The Emir claims his area as a pirate free zone so he can increase trade.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The Emir begins contracting natives as indentured servants if they do not convert to Islam.
    • Arawaka: The first large mosque is opened and the chieftain begins imposing a tax on infidels.
    • Belkan Dip: The Belkan envoy Aleksei Duric counteroffers by offering to Equip the first 25,000 soldiers of the new Maghrebi army for a low fraction of the price in exchange for Tripoli as well.
    • Maghreb accepts.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: The Mujtamae Reforms end up being badly implemented by the bureaucrats and officials of the Court. With the exception of the Mujtamae Altijara (Trade), which the Sultan supervised personally due to its importance, and the Mujtamae Albahriu, which was organized with the help of the Belkian engineers, the Mujtamae are currently an inefficient and dysfunctional system of bureaucracy. Unwilling to abandon those reforms however, Sultan Jalil name a Grand Vizir to help him organize and enforce the Mujtamae so they can make the society more efficient, not less efficient. This new Grand Vizir, the first since the independence and the second in the history of the Sultanate, is Mu'Tamid al-Satter, one of the main administrators of the palace and a sitting members of the Mujtamae Altijara's council. Mu'Tamid has been one of the reasons that the Mujtamae Altijara succeeded where the other failed, and by putting him in charge of implementing the reforms, the Sultan hope that his miracle man will fix everything. A good part of the treasury is sent to the Belkan Empire so they can modernize the fleet. To finance the contracts, the Sultan raise a new tax on the population (trade, religion and nobility are exempted, of course).
  • Guuti Empire: A shaman begins writing another cave painting using the symbols that represents sounds found in the Dead Man's Codex. Another shaman begins building a pyramid using the labor of his devotees so that he can better look at the sky. Nunas falls ill and selects Guuti III as her heir. Guuti III also orders his devotees to build a pyramid in his honor. He hires the several shamans to paint things on it. Guuti III also orders all shamans to incorporate him into their cave paintings.
  • Belkan Empire: The mostly slavic elements of the former greek homeland now called Guritsya the slavonic name for the greek provinces see some of the propaganda somewhat spread into the region and largely ignore it. With Sicily seemingly calming down the Belkan forces all more or less stand down and begin to trickle home. Ionian forces also begin their long trek home back to their homeland in anatolia having learned valuable lessons about deployment, logistics and discipline. While no conflict had some it has become extremely clear of the military readiness of Belka in regards to its sphere of influence. The new Tsar Vladimir heavily supports and reiterates the Guarentee to the Italian league. The Economy begins to return to normal however the loans previous used on building project were used in the mass mobilization of Belkas professional and garrison regiments causing a very large drain on what used to be a sizeable fund meant to develop parts of the country. This somewhat causes some economic problems which drives up unemployment as well as some food scarcity. However most of the country remains rather prosperous as the food limitations remain to Belkas rural regions rather than its urban ones. More Militaristic and radical elements of the enlightenment begin to spread into the general populace via its Croatian base with small movments having cropped up in Tarnovo, Vasiligrad, Sofiya, Belgrad, Oured, and Iasi, as well as larger movements in Athens as well as Visegrad (otl city of Cluj). The Military also sees effective influx of Enlightenment philisophy. Lui Dzon Zamûk an enlightenment philosopher develops the concept of the Social contract theory. A new Composer by the name of Cedomir Antonovic begins heavily developing a very clear Belkan classical style. However many of his compositions are very clearly named or sired in the history of Belkas military and its battles. Another Composer, his protogé of nearly eight years Alexei Ohrid also begins writing in the Belkan Classical style in a more lighthearted tone producing pieces very clearly not based in Belkas military acoomplishments but more obviously about seasons, rivers, some even tell a story. The homophonic texture and accompanying melodies of both become very popular in both types of the Classical compositions. With the arrival of a large treasure fleet from Cyprus the tsar allows a certain seperation for profit but also begins the building of 20 large ships of the line (98-108 guns ships) as well as about 20 more Second rate ships of the line (68-88 guns)  followed by nearly 60 more Third rate and frigate ships of the line (40-60 guns).
  • Ethiopian Empire: The Emperor hears of the politcal developments in the outside world, particulalry surrounding the Mediterranean, but from his throne remote in Medinah Jamil, he doesn't pay it any mind. Instead, Theodore II patronizes the arts and literature, spreading Arab baroque and Amharic cuisine across the Empire. The roch hewn Church in Heliopolis is nearly complete, and is christened the Church of Saint Peter the Martyr. The Emperor seeks a state of isolation, utilizing the natural borders of the Empire to seal off outside influence. Monastocism and Neo-platonic philosophy, being well known in Egypt for many centuries, continues to grow in its influence across the nation. Growth of antiquarianism and interestin ancient artifacts continues. After the Council of Alexandria, the Pope Matthew endorses and enforces the common communion between the Coptic Churches and the Orthodox and Catholic Churches. The ecclesiastical changes, however, the Pope deferrs from implementation yet.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:The army begins to train with the use of guns and cannons. They also begin to use the populus as base for the army so that they can rise up in ranks and rule in goverment and local counsils. The King Paulo also begins to place soldiers at the border of the Plains Miwok[1]. The goverment sended diplomats to Plains Miwok Demand them to give all off their Coast Lands to Our kingdom(Mod Response). The King's advisors ask Iberia if it they would like aid in building Roads in their Northern Collony and that in return the workers get right to build one comunity for them (players response).
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees to the Mzerkan proposal.
    • Miwok says no- Sky
  • Poland: King Wladyslaw is 20, The king is wed to a young and pretty daughter of a nobleman. The Cathedral is making gains in progress and the Opera hall should be finished in the coming months. Huge turnip fields spread in northern Poland due to the relatively short growing time and high vodka yield they are sent to distilleries in Danzig where they bottle it and then ship it throughout the baltic. Wladyslaw continues to devout huge amounts of Mathematics Science and the Arts, with the flood of scientists moving to the University of Krakow to study under Jan Pawlak. Jan has assigned many of them to find the Philosopher's Stone. Others being assigned to the Architectural work while the majority are assigned to mathematics work. The port of Danzig begins work on five Ships of the line along with ten third rates and many other support vessels such as gun boats. The Polish army is cut down to 20,000 during the peacetime while the 400,000 men will be reservists, along with this they move to being stationed all over Poland. The Queen gave birth to the Crown Princess of the Polish Kingdom on December the 22nd the year of our lord 1731. On the 25th of December 1731 while attending Christmas Mass at the Church of Warsaw a rogue syndicalist shot the king while he was speaking. He died six days later on the eve of a new year, but it will be an eve of a new Poland.

The Madrassah of Mtwara takes the daunting task of calculating sunrise and sunset times of every day in the year and to find a formula. A mechanical seed sower is developed for agriculture. Coal mining begins in Mtwara and Kilwa as a new source of energy.

However some troops get restless and start to drink more and go on leave. Many and paid bar bands bringing Russian string baroque to Belka. One Belkan 19 year old hears one song "Have Twangy Guitar, Will Travel", and becomes inspired. Tsar Pyotr I Rurik, Tsar of all Russia's dies in bed of old age, the throne passes to his son Pyotr II. At age 27 he is optimistic about the new Empire, and drapes his throne with the colors of Russia. Francis I continues to expand his palace, hiding the human zoo from the public view. Overseas, the French East India company continues to experience prosperity with African slaves from French Zaire and the ports of Namibe, Luanda, and Lobito providing the large output of slave traffic. The Or Noir mines (OTL Minas Gerras) continues to expand providing an extremely large gold output. In the East Indies the prominence of the monopoly on the spice trade continues to provide large economic output for the crown and the east India company. The Cardinal Borja, Bishop of Bordeaux continues being a major advocate for the counter enlightenment.
    • Burgundo-Prussian Dip: the offer is declined. (Note: Adolf tells me he's switching to Austria)

Fur traders build trading posts up the Mississippi, expanding the colony. Trade increases with Mota Ain, bringing exotic goods to Likusaen. A new trading post is built at Liquiçá.

Sky's resting his sweet sensual body, so you have Nate the Mad Mod at the wheel tonight. You can post in 1731 for the next hour. (Until 7 PM EDT)

Prussia has a quick restoration movement, led by a cabal of 40 nobles, proclaiming independent Kingdom of Prussia and Luxembourg once again. The military is generally undeceided, leading to a civil war in the nation.

A reactionary movement in the Italian league, caused by multiple philosophical influences, results in a liberal revolt across Venetian lands against the conservative government, although primarily by common people not associated with Mazzini.

A minor peasant uprising in Sicily kills two dozen people in Naples.

Jan Pawlak solves the problem of the Seven Bridges of Konigsburg, leading to the inception of Graph Theory. In the same year, he publishes a mathematical work coining the base of the natural logarithm (2.718181818459...) as the number "p"

A respected chemist, and claimed skeptic of medievalism Jacque Blanch is found dead inside his lab in Marsallis, apparently by chromium poisoning. From within the lab, there are notes which claims that the scientist had just perfected the stillment of the Philosopher's stone. Oddly, no chromium was believed to be brought within miles of Marsallis.

The Caliph of Islam in Cairo reaches out to the various nations of Islam to extend his blessings, especially to Maghreb, Cyprus and Arabia. He also asks if they wish to train their royal family members within Cairo in their youth.

  • Italian League: It reaches the north that peace seems somewhat imminent in Rome, causing many in the government to act brazen. Consul Vincenzo Mazzini and the ruling conservatives begin demanding that Sicily compensate the League for its tresspassing and grievances, with some even proposing the issuing of a purposely ridiculous list of claims, to purposely instigate a war that the more jingoistic and prideful are sure the League will win. This strategy is ultimately rejected, however, the pro-war sentiment in the state doesn't seem to subside. Belkan soldiers vacate the capital and surrounding area, and are replaced by local units. In the south forifications continue to be manned, and mobilization continues. Enlightenment ideas continue to take hold across the country, primarily among the aristocratic elite and growing middle class, particularly in the major cities in the north. Giulio Beccaria, a jurist and philospher, publishes On Crimes and Punishments, as a direct reply to the "Reign of Terror" instigated by the Vincenzo Mazzini consulship, in which he condemns torture and the death penalty. Liberals such as Giovanni Facta continue to rouse up sections of the population, and discussion is sparked across urbn salons over his thinking. The self ruling, autonomous nature of the state for over a century causes some enlightenment thinkers to argue the importance of the state and a sense of patriotism, usually in opposition to the church. E.g. Enlightenment thinker Rossano Brazzi argues against the use clerics in public schools, who do not inspire love of their homeland, and are inferior potentially to an education based on nurture and discovery. The texts of Machiavelli and other earlier Italian philosphers and humanists are particularly popular, who historically in the 1500's first developed the idea of patriotism among the modern day Italian League, and the importance of "seizing Italy from the Barbarians." Catholicism and the influence of the papacy is still quite popular in the country, although the country remains largely opposed and devoid of Neo-scholasticism, potentially due to some of the tenents of the movement being more or less against the principles of the League, such as a sort of republicanism, which although oligarchic and not very democratic, still creates a sense of pride among the people of the nation, similar to the late Roman Republic, a state which many of the aristocrats and politicans are quick to allude to. The concept of Deism, although extremely isolated, becomes popular in some of the most elite circles, made popular by one Luigi Vico, who proposes a "Cult of Reason", as an atheistic religion intended to rival Christianity on the state level.
    • Cyprus Dip: The Sultan offer Consul Mazzini the help of a Cypriot fleet (the one lead by Admiral el-Galla) to beat down the revolt in Venice.
    • We didnt have an ATL Machiavelli, dont believe any of his concepts were ever truly developed. -Feud
    • '"I assumed there would have had to be a Machiavelli equivalent, but if there isn't one I will just create one, given that it's 200 years late." - Gatthias via Discord.
We invade and annex Balchoistan.
    • Maghrebi Dip: Maghreb offers a renewed military alliance where both our nations share technology and military, have a non-aggression pact, and agree to declare war on someone if they invade one of us. Maghreb would also like to rent the port of Chandahar from Persia for fifty years in exchange for the aforementioned alliance and the steady trade of new world crops and general spoils to Persia.
    • Persia Dip: The Sha accepts this deal and coins the turn "The Great Eastern Alliance"
  • Maghreb: The Sultan has his sons sent to Cairo in order to train and has the Grand Kazir of the Maghreb visit Cairo to discuss with the Caliph on the muslim faith. Retired Maghrebi Pirates settling in western sahara form a small city state known as the Sahrawi Qarsonate(coming from the arabic Qarson for pirate). Berber colonists sent to OTL Bahia Blanca start a small fort and begin developing it. They experiment with an elected vizier as opposed to an emir, thus gaining the name of the Laurentid Vizierate. Raiding continues on Mali as pirates begin using experimental petroleum bombs to damage large areas of their cities. The Sultan says that the raids will stop if Mali becomes a protectorate of the Maghreb (NPC RESPONSE). The Sultan also makes a visit to the Anatolian State of Karamon on the southern coast of turkey to get better relations with them. Tamazightism grows and becomes cubism, which transcends berber language and culture. Syndicalism takes a foothold among Maghrebi pirates as it corresponds with their lifestyle. Many pirates begin running completely democratic ships with no captain. This idea also spreads to Maghrebi slaves who form their own communes, albeit poor and reliant on outside cities.
  • No bombs, Mali declines and states it will not succumb to threats. -Sky
  • Also I have come to the decision that syndicalism is ASB
    • Tajammanid Emirate: A particularly harsh winter forces a lot of colonists northwards, where they either join up with other Maghrebi colonies or integrate with the natives.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The settlement grows as the Emir introduces a new form of indentured servitude where slaves are free after ten years but cannot return home, basically condemning them to more forced labor. This seems to work as it gives the slaves the illusion that they will be free, but still maintains the profitability of normal slavery.
    • Arawaka: The Chieftain officially declares himself an Emir and one of the Sultan's relatives is sent to marry him into the royal family.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Sultan Jalil is not pleased by the revolt in Venice, as the possibility of Venice gaining its independence is seen as a threat to the Sultan's plans of turning Cyprus into a Mediterranean trade hub. The Sultan order the newly promoted Admiral Mufeed el-Galla to lead a small fleet in the Venetian Golf to blockade access to Venice. However, el-Galla as been ordered to not attack unless provoked by the Venetians. In Cyprus, Grand Vizir Mu'Tamid al-Satter began redrawing the administrative maps of the regions and districts. He plan on redrawing the regions into urban and rural sections to clearly define the parts of the island supervised by the Mujtamae Alhadariu (Urban) and the Mujtamae Alriyfiu (Rural), which has been a problem since the beginning of the Mujtamae Reforms. Finally, Sultan Jalil and his family go visit the Caliph in person, many members of the Court following him in Cairo. Since thefivesurviving sons of Jalil are between 19 and 26, the Sultan believe it is too late to leave them in Cairo at the care of the Caliph. Instead, he leave Saif, his two year old grandson from his third son and heir Farid. The Sultan simply tell the Caliph “Send him back as a man of Islam.”
  • Ethiopian Empire: With the rise of monastacism and platonic philosophy in Ethiopia, the Emperor begins replacing each public institution with these ideals. School systems are based on First Principles, building on older ideas. The primary assumptions of these first principles are based on Christian theology, which are carefully housed and protected by orders of monks. Financial and social reforms are made, basing all laws and economics on the same forms of first principles based on Christian theology. A new order of monks are consencrated by the Pope, known as the Order of Saint Constance. This order is specifically designed to maintain, infer and defend the basic assumptions that go into Christian theology, and by extention the whole of scholastic philosophy. The Church of Saint Peter the Martyr is also concencrated this year. Pope Matthew dies this year and is buried in the Church, and his successor is elected to take the name of Pope Mark VI. Pope Mark is more liberal than his predecessor, and slowly works towards implementing the Council of Alexandria.
    • Papal Diplomacy: Pope Uran VII writes to his brother in Christ Pope Mark VI, congratulating him on his election. Urban urges the new Coptic Pope to accede to the decrees of the Council of Alexandria, following the lead of Ecumenical Patriarch Mikhail of the Eastern Orthodox.
  • Austria: the leader of the nation decides to concentrate on spending most of its money on it's military by increasing budget spendings to 36%. We offer a Compromise with Hungary (another page wll be made to discuss this later fi excepted) to unite our nation's for the better of development and growth (MOD Response). we work on developing the Austrian War Machine with this budget increase by purchasing and producing cannons and other forms of artillery such as cannon balls, grapeshots, and canisters. A military Yard is built in Vienna to design weaponry and material for the military which is then produced. Flintlock Guns begin to be produced in large numbers and a round bullet is in the works of being developed. A new military uniform is also being designed by some of the best clothing designers in the country. Meanwhile, in cities across Austria, military propaganda spreads. "Sign-Up Centers" are placed all around the country for people to sign up for the military and defend our great nation. With a budget of 16% of our annual budget being spent for Infrastructure, many homes are renovated in suburban and rural areas to boost development and higher standards of living. Sewer systems are also built for sanitary precautions. Everyone is required to also have at least one toilet or outhouse. Wheat and Beef are produced in high amounts and are sold in delis across Vienna. Fashion grows in the nation as well with elegant and fancy clothing becoming more commonly worn by the average citizen. 10,000 troops join the military this year and are taken to Graz for training on how to fight in the war. They are also taught how to ride horses as well. They are trained by Gefreiter Maximilian Huber and General Lukas Wolfgang. Studies for medicine and astronomy grow with the new education budget in place, new schools open and a university is built Innsbruck for astronomy and biology. An Art Museum opens in Villach featuring artwork from all across the nation. Plows begin to be used by many farmers around the suburbs. This leads to a good harvest. Iririgation systems are also set up across the nation as well. 39,500 troops are sent into Bohemia lead by General Markus Rommel. During this, they strategized a new technique called auslöschen created by rommel himself. In each attack they use all their man power and target regions in a concentrated scale out numbering enemy troops instead of attacking all at once with a small number of men. This leads to the capturing of Brno, Pardubice, and Klatovy. Rommel now sets his eyes on Prague (Algo coming to a wiki near you). We request an alliance and trade with the French (Player Response).
    • The Crown of St. Stephen (Hungarian ministers and the such) vehemently refuse to further integration with the Germanish Austria which is inside the HRE and have no desire to enter such an undesirable union with the Austria. The personal union will suffice for now. -scraw

  • Guuti Empire: Nunas dies and Guuti III begins his reign. A coalition of shamans under Guuti III create a large organized hut which becomes a precursor to a Guuti church. More members of the emerging upper class begin adopting agriculture. Seven shamans in the Guuti church emerge as patriarchs and rule as a sort of regency council to the chief Guuti. One shaman begins working with stone and builds stone houses and weapons for the tribe. The tribe's boats begin being made of increasingly better quality wood and craftsmanship. The emerging class of craftsmen form small clubs to protect and hone their trades.
  • Russia: The last 20,000 men are withdrawn from Belka as it seems any threat of war has dissipated. An army of 120,000 men stand on the Polish border, Tsar Pyotr II taking his time. The Tsar orders the Baltic Sea ships in Riga north to Feodorgrad. the construction of two large forts begins on the straits of Azov . Each to bolster 60 heavy cannons. Large scale hand grenade construction begins in the Tsaritsyn Armaments Foundries. Heavy artillery is brought forth to the Polish border. The Tsars reasoning for such the military presence is due to "Internal Destabilization in the wake of the Kings Death." Tsar Pyotr II asks the Pontic King if he could marry one of his daughters to strengthen ties between the two nations (Mod Response). We also begin to send diplomats to the Orthodox nations and peoples of Anatolia-Caucasia. The shipyards of the south commissions 15 new frigates. The Black Sea Fleet totals some 35-40 ships. The Russian navy adopts its own banner after one sailor who nearly drowned in ice thought he was saved by Jesus, and such the Arctic Cross Flag was born, that of the Russian Navy. We begin to send missionaries to western Arcadia.
    • The Pontic King very willingly agrees to the marriage. ~Cal
    • Papal Dip: The Pope offers the Russian government funds to help the Missions in the New World.
    • We accept the loan (even though it was diplomats to the region between Kurdistan and Caucasia).
  • Jaffarid Arabia: After a few years of further training and preparation, our military finally resides at 430,000. We invade Akhlat with 100,000 troops, and near the end part of the year, succeed in defeating them and eventually annexing them with total loses being under 10,000. With the end of the war, we tell the Caucasian nations of Ganja, Shirvan, and Azerbaijan that if they do not join Arabia, then they shall share the same fate as their neighbor Akhlat (Mod). After our victory, we begin a prolonged military occupation of the region with 50,000 being stationed within the former's military bases. These troops will remain there until 1740, which by then will have already become a more "stabilized" region. We begin moving in citizens from the Sultanate to Akhlat in hopes of populating the area with more patriotic and Islamic beliefs in hopes of converting the citizens of the next generation. Sultan Umar declares the annexation of Akhlat to be "an act of not only bringing stability to the region, but also an act of bettering the lives of Akhlat". The new leader of Akhlat, Arman Melkonyan, was selected by Sultan Umar due to his pro-Jaffarid Clan ideals and his Caucasian origin prior to the Second Arab-Ethiopian War. Ebrahim Hatim El-Jaffar, the royal successor to Sultan Umar, who is currently nine years old, is sent to Cairo where the Caliph resides to train him for the position as Sultan in the future.

  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: Our Diplomats declare war on Plains Miwok and on Coast Miwork for the refusal of allowing us to get their coastal lands that rightfully Belong to Us and the Iberian Crown. So 7500 soldiers attack Plains Miwok under whom 1500 are gunmen with Iberian guns and the rest are knights with steel and iron armour.General Philipe attacks Coast Miwok with 2500 soldiers underwho 500 Gunmen and he also bombards the lands with the five cannon boats of the Royal fleet. Our Diplomats Ask Our Protector Iberia (Player response)if they can give millitary aid to our army in the name of 5000 guns and five gunboats. Our priests in our nation ask on request of the king to have the papal states call for a crusade(Player response). Our labourers also Keep building our road sytem connecting Mzer and Diltwa Wituye and one road to the bay area. The king request the Mayor of Mzer to begin making a better habour with more storing places and more docks.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal representative in Arcadia writes to King Paul, advising that if Christians have been killed by these other tribes, than it would be a 'just war' to attack that country to stop their evil. If that condition is met, the Mzerka have permission to term their war a crusade.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: About 1000 troops are landed in Indian Bay to support the Mzerka in their war. Naval reinforcements are deemed unnecessary, as the Coast Miwok have no ships of their own.
  • Papal States: Pope Urban VII celebrates an immense public celebratory Mass as St Peter's celebrating the successful re-unification of the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches. An Orthodox Church is opened in Rome, with an old delapidated church being renovated to become a worthy space. It is placed under the direct control of the Ecumenical Patriarch, and also turned into a Titular Church for the Patriarch, who is now also a Cardinal ex officio. The Arbitration of Rome seems to have been effective (ish?), which is yet more cause for joy. The Papal Nuncio to Italy writes a letter to the Italian government and people, assuring them that Neo-scholastic philosophy, although currently favoured by the Church, is not required belief for Christians. The Papal Navy, often ignored, gets an upgrade; not for any tactical reasons, but so that Pope Urban VII can attend the next Ecumenical Council in style, comfort, and safety (one does not want a repeat of Cornelius II's famous kidnapping). Iberia, Burgundy, the new government in Prussia, and all other Christian states are quietly urged to end the so-called 'Arawak Emirate', which sullies the Christian nature of the New World. The Missions continue everywhere, and money is sent to the Church of the East (i.e. Nestorian Church which re-entered communion) to assist with its own mission works.
  • Malaya: Alchemy becomes mainstream in Anguzi magic, which unsurprisingly hasn't been stamped out from the nation by evidence that it does not work. Agricultural activities commence in Sabah, planting crops suited to the tropical climate there. Meanwhile, a large mountain that has been named Gunung Kinabalu, a corruption of the name Aki Nabalu, which was the name the Kadazan-Dusun tribes gave to the mountain. Expeditions are planned to see if growing crops would be viable there. Coastal settlements continue to develop.
  • Swahili:We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army at Sofala continues trainingModern battle tactics are adopted. A solar declination table is produced and distributed, significantly helping sailors in determining latitude. The madrassah of mogadishu also develops a quadrant that calculates latitude.

  • Poland: Queen Maria I is 25, her late Husband only just passing to heaven, soon though she reverses his military decisions reinstating 40,000 troops, moving 40,000 men to the Prussian border, 30,000 on the main border while 10,000 ready on the Border of East Prussia. 20,000 other men ready on the Russian Border deploying half in Lithuania. (Fortress there) while the others are deployed to build defensive fortifications along the rest of the border. Next, the Queen calls upon 10,000 Paramilitary Militia men to be split between the border East Prussia and the Russian border, specifically reinforcing the non Lithuanian region of the border. She installs Loyal generals in control of these armies, however she makes sure they are at least competent as well as loyal. As the Krakow code originally developed by her late husband is to be used the first time in warfare. She orders Army Group A the East Prussian army to invade and surround Konigsburg while Army group B to Berlin, if they encounter heavy resistance they are supposed to fall back to a defensible area or to Polish territory, the queen orders 10,000 more Militiamen to garrison all over the country. The siege at Konigsberg begins with the Polish General sending a letter to the garrison commander if he surrenders he will be spared and keep his position as garrison commander, if he doesn't he will be impaled with the rest of the Garrison. (Mod response?) The Polish Army in the east moves on Berlin hoping to take it before adequate  Prussian resistance can be raised. The same offer is made to the Garrison commander at berlin. A defensive alliance is offered to Burgundy.
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west with a new colony being formed the Alabama after the Alabama people with main settlement of Montgomery as settlers move into new land for farming. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. There is a militia of 21,000 citizens who are while unprofessional do have weapons and supplies. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
    • Burgundian-Prussian Fip: the alliance offer is accepted.
  • Belkan Empire:  The Belkan military forces finally leave Italy in its entirety with all Garrison and Militia units standing down besides the Strategic forts which are now remained garrisoned at 10,000 a piece of Garrison regiments as per new Belkan military policy. Lui Dzon Zamûk an enlightenment philosopher continues developing the concept of the Social contract theory. Composer by the name of Cedomir Antonovic begins heavily developing a very clear Belkan classical style. With the arrival of a large treasure fleet from Cyprus the tsar allows a certain seperation for profit but also continues the building of 20 large ships of the line (98-108 guns ships) as well as about 20 more Second rate ships of the line (68-88 guns) followed by nearly 60 more Third rate and frigate ships of the line (40-60 guns).
    • Principality of Ionia: The great cities of Ionia continues to be rebuilt and as the military returns home the valuable lessons learned from their Belkan allies is applied to the army. A small batch of Enlightenment Philosophy spreads into Ionia as well in Nicaea. Ionia also now begins providing funds to the massive Bosphorus bridge in an attempt to ease trade, and logistical movements from Ionia into Belka.

With no clear winner in sight, the prussian civil war continues, including many bloody battles.

The Papal proposal for peace in Italy is made into effect.

The Caliph is raising Farid, whatever that means.

Jan Pawlack creates infinite series of imaginary fractions to describe trignometric functions. He later develops this method to approximate any mathematical equation, known as "Pawlack's Method".

NOTE: There exist no petroleum bombs yet, and Poland can't give up on Lithuania, also, there exists a high chance Königsbergs surrender might be retconned (the last one is my fault, sorry IATG and everyone involved SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky)

EDIT: Per agreement of three mods (Sky, Nate, Scraw), the Maghrebi leasing of its cities and all agreements related to it have been retconned.

EDIT2: The Königsberg occupation has been retconned, however Prussia is still in civil war and it will require an algo from anyone (including Burgundy) to (re)gain control of it.

  • Maghreb: Enlightenment philosophy grows in Fez as the Sultan continues to slowly reform his ways. The tax on infidels is formally abolished, although businesses still charge infidels more and pay them less. The appointed governor of Chandahar begins the building of boats and the allocation of some of the Maghrebi navy there. Maghrebi pirates also initiate an informal blockade of Mali and sieze all ships leaving her harbors. Maghrebi soldiers also start up a small fort on the border of Mali to do their operations from. The Sahrawi Qarsonate project is cancelled and the pirates instead move to the fort to begin attacks on Mali. The Sultan sends an envoy to the Songhai saying that if the Songhai ally with Maghreb, they can split Mali and perhaps later benin with them (Mod Response). The Sultan also sends an envoy to the Mapuche, asking if they would become a protectorate of the Maghreb for protection against colonial forces and if they would allow muslim missionaries into their empire (Mod Response). The sultan also begins training several pirates in a European naval fashion and begins creating a special program to train pirates to be better naval officers.
    •  Laurentid Vizierate: The elected grand vizier instates the first kazir of the vizierate. Radical thinking and ideals grow there as many radicals from the mainland immigrate to the democratic experiment.
    • Tajammanid Emirate: The Emir sends colonists to many areas of OTL Argentina and Chile to start coastal colonies.
    • Emirate of Al MaqadasP The emir dies and his son takes his place. His son is very conservative and wants to follow the Quran. Muslim anti-enlightenment and anti-secular thinkers migrate there and begin forming their own philosophy against growing liberalism.
    • Mapuche: The Maghrebi envoy is murdered and the guards are forcefully brought into the Empire for the Mapuche to learn from.
      • The Maghrebi guards use the gunpowder in their guns to light an explosion which causes a scene in the empire and kills them. The Grand Kazir writes a fatwa on how it is ok to kill yourself if you are helping in a Jihad. The Sultan makes Mapuche the target of Maghrebi pirating and announces that the infidels are now enemies of the empire and of the muslim world.
  • Saxony: Realizing the Prussian counter stroke. They only take the region of Bohemia that borders them and peace out before Prussia counter attacks. They also pay Burgundy lot of money (which they have to spare) in war reparations. However, on the off chance that Burgundy doesn't accept Saxony spreads its 60,000 men from Saxony and Bohemia between Dresden and Leipzig boostifn the garrisons to 30,000. Also the walls are greatly reinforced and the civilian populations are quickly set to build canals around the city walls. Also, the cities of Dresden and Leipzig are full stocked up on food which is heavily guarded and any civilians which aren't important are sent to other cities to make food supplies last longer in the event of a siege.
    • OOC: there's no way you have 100,000 troops, as that would imply you would have a population of over 4.1 million, which you are nowhere near (try closer to two million, if that). I am that guy (talk) 03:54, July 16, 2017 (UTC)
  • Poland Dip: Poland offers a peace treaty to Prussia . Asking for a peace treaty, all they ask is for the ceding of Konigsberg and the surrounding enclave to the Polish Kingdom and hoping to end the war without any serious Bloodshed, they offer to pay 10,000 Zlotys to the Prussian Kingdom in exchange for any grievances caused by the Aggression of Poland.
  • Italian League: With the Arbitration of Rome seeming concluded we withdraw our delegation and begin demobilizing. The nation's standing army, however, continues to work to construction defenses. In an attempt to silence one of his main opponents, Mazzini has Facta appointed head of the navy and is stationed in Venice to remove him from the city. The envoy from Cyprus is received in Venice in which Cyprus offers Mazzini military support, and Facta has the message never delivered to Mazzini, instead rejecting the Cypriot offer himself. Enlightenment ideas continue to take hold across the country, primarily among the aristocratic elite and growing middle class, particularly in the major cities in the north. A political scientist and historian specializing in Italian philosophy and humanism from the sixteenth century, named Niccolò Nasci, publishes a book called The Consul about effective ways to rule a state, the importance of patrioitism, and other theories. The term Nascianism is coined as the emplyment of cunning and duplicity in statecraft or in general conduct, based on some of the more ruthless tactics described by Nasci. The book is quickly adopted into Giovanni Facta's rhetoric. Across the nation liberal revolts against the oppressive government of Vincenzo Mazzini break out, heavily damaging public support for the consulship. With his allies disappearing, or even executed on his own orders due to paranoia, Mazzini is condemned by the state as a traitor. There is a coup within the government, in which Mazzini and the last of his supporters are captured and executed, spearheaded by Facta and his ally Matteo Forlani. Maurizio Renzi assumes leadership of the conservatives and organizes an army to take back the capital, launching the north into a civil war. The conspirators, however, correspond with Carlo Bonaparte, who intercepts Renzi and defeats him in a decisive battle, effectively ending the conflict. A provisional government is created in Trent led by a council of five prominent leaders while a new constitution is drafted. Although the new council lacks any real power outside the capital, Forlani manages to pass a number of progressive reforms aimed to quell public unrest, with the support of Facta and Bonaparte on the outside of the council. Forlani takes a few ideas from Nasci's works, and declares that an assembly shall be created for public discourse and debate between the lower and upper classes, as a means to appease the disgruntled lowe classes. The government also adopts a new calender created several years prior by Luigi Vico, which changes the current year. By the end of the year the constitution is finished, changing the number of consuls to three, creating a legislative assembly of nobles for the purpose of debating new laws, and greatly expanding the power of the government. The First Consul, will serve for four years as previous consuls did, while the second for two, and the third for one. In the first election, the alliance of Bonaparte, Facta, and Forlani is chosen by the electoral college of the cities.
    • Belkan Dip: hoping to see the Leagues politics calm down the Belkan envoy is authorized to offer whoever controls the capital and hence central control of the government military, food, and supply support.
    • Italian League Diplomacy: The Triumvirate formally accepts the support of Belka, and also asks for help in defense against Cyprus, should it be necessary. We also formally ask for an alliance with Belka.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: The Grand Vizier al-Satter order the construction of monuments in the cities of Cyprus in order to give a purpose to the Mujtamae Albina (Construction). The biggest of those constructions will be the Abbasid Crypt, a massive underground tomb in Nicosia for the death Sultans of Cyprus. When news of the arrest and then execution of Consul Mazzini come to Admiral Mufeed el-Galla begin bombarding Venice with his ships. Following repeated bombardments, el-Galla send a couple of hundred troops to take over the city, hoping that the bombardments did the job of demoralizing the populace and the rebels. (MOD ANSWER ON SUCCESS) Hearing of this, Sultan Jalil decide to support the actions of his admiral, planning to occupy the island of Venice until “clearer heads” retake power in the Italian League. Still, troops are drilled just in case it would be needed. Exiled merchants who fear the new regime in the Italian League are offered to hide in Cyprus (the Sultan hoping to boost the commercial power of Cyprus with Italian exiles).
    • Maghrebi Dip: The Sultan offers Cyprus to become part of the greater military alliance between Persia and Maghreb as well as the sultan asking to rent the port of Kyrenia from Cyprus in exchange for Cyprus getting ten percent of the profits and being part of the alliance.
    • Cyprus Dip: Sultan Jalil accept at the condition that the port rent is in Limassol (which is south of the island) instead of the big one in Kyrenia (in the north), which host the main fleet of Cyprus.
      • Maghreb agrees.
    • Italian League Diplomacy: The League soldiers who had already been actively training and garrisoning in the north (as per my earlier posts) immediately launch a counterattack to repulse the relatively small Cypriot attack from the city (see algorithm on talk page). The Italian League then formally declares war and mobilizes for a full invasion of Cyprus (also on talk page).
  • Ethiopian Empire: With the Order of Saint Constance based in their own monestary in the Red Lands, the basic Principles of philosophy and theology are safely locked away with them. In the rest of the Empire, a grand council of abbots are gathered in Alexandria under the Pope, all dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and exemplifying those principles for theological and philosophical purposes. A second council of scholars from the Library of Alexandria utilize the findings of that council to create a system of mathematics and science from those basic fields. The economy and law code are carefully copied from Judeo-Christianity. Relations are greatly improved with the Caliphate, as the Pope Mark VI hopes to grow more understanding between Coptic Christianity and Islam. Some reforms of the Council of Alexandria are also implemented. The Emperor Theodore himself retires back to Medinah Jamil.
  • Guuti Empire: The seven high shamans begin ritualizing themselves as well as Guuti III. One makes a scroll out of caribou hide and begins writing a mythic history of the shamans and the Guuti family using the language found in the Dead Man's Codex. In the emerging peasant class, the workers revolt against one of the proto-feudal lords. The revolt is put down and Guuti III orders that some warriors be stationed at the proto-farms to make sure nothing bad happens. Guuti III also takes a wife and has five children with her. Some workers who are down on their luck begin taking Guuti's Blood to ease the pain. This becomes habitual as slowly the lower class population becomes addicted to it. Thinking that the drug has become unpure, the shamans begin brewing a new drug that only they shall use. Guuti's Tears, the powerful poison made years earlier, begins being used by the warriors stationed at home on the populace when they don't obey. The neighboring Inuit tribe to the north begins raiding the growing proto-town of yellowknife as they are experiencing widespread famines.
  • Russia: (Since apparently Lithuania is too valuable) We declare war on Poland, Marching 80,000 Professional troops to attack Polish defenses outside Vilnius. 100,000 unprofessional soldiers are lined at the border to make sure a polish counter attack fails. The Baltic Sea Fleet sails to Danzig and sets up a naval Blockade. Tuvov is expanded 10px, Kodiak is expanded 5px. The Tsar and his wife has a son named Konstantin, after Constantine of the Byzantine Empire, master of Orthodoxy. five frigates and five galleons are added to the black sea fleet. One galleon and three frigates are constructed in Okhotsk. Russian trade ships start making their way south to Formosa and Saigon. More missions to the New World leave Russia to claim the entire Northwestern Part of the continent.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: after a bloody campaign, the rebel nobles and their forces are defeated near Lübeck. With that distraction taken care of, both Saxony and Polands "peace offers" are rejected, with the demand that they withdraw to their pre-war borders. In preparation, 230,000 troops are raised, including 150,000 non-professional troops, and the Burgundian Royal Army begins preparing to move to reinforce should they be needed. Some 60,000 troops march south, encamping around Prague for the time being, while detachments are sent out to secure the regions Saxony claimed since their troops evacuated the area. Traitorous nobles who sided with saxony are arrested for trial. The rest of the Prussian Royal Army is diverted east, towards Poland.
    • Saxony Dip: Saxony agrees on the condition that Burgundy no longer interferes with Saxon affairs including Bamburg as they did plan to attack and thus the move against them was an preemptive strike.
  • South India: After much rebuilding and revamp of the army the country is now stable. The police system is revamped and the police now has a greater control over the matters inside the country. The roles of the Police and the Army now have a clear demarcation laid down in a document formulated by the King and his Council of Ministers. The Provincial Police Chiefs are independent of the Army officers and report to the Chief of Police who is a part of the King's Council. To control the internal affairs of the state, the King creates the Ministry of Internal Affairs which works under the King and the Chief of Police. The extensive spy system of the state is reorganized and now works under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The spread of commercial farming and the use of the Malindi plough has led to the erosion of the feudal system in the southern parts of Kerala around Kollam. The feudal houses have become direct cultivators due to the establishment of plantations. Many tenants have been evicted and the rest now act as laborers in the big farms of Southern Kerala. This has led to the emigration of skilled tenants to neighboring Tamil areas and has led to the establishment of coffee, tea and tobacco cultivation in the Tamil areas. The establishment of big farms and plantations has brought prosperity to Southern Kerala and the farmers there. The State declares war on Telangana. Telangana is Dravidian and must be assimilated into the Dravidian nation. 80,000 professional troops (These troops are professional troops as compared to South Indian tech levels), 20,000 unprofessional troops invade Telangana. 30,000 troops guard the coast. The advancing forces make indiscriminate use of the Mysorean Rockets.
  • Jaffarid Arabia: With Azerbaijan, Shirvan and Ganja becoming vassal's of our holy nation, we heavily promote pro-Jaffarid policies and ideals within the states and the Sultan selects . We continue military occupation of Akhlat after their annexation. Modernization of military and naval technology continues. • Italian League: Following the unprovoked attack by the Sultanate of Cyprus against us, our nation's attention is turned towards development of the navy and army, and focusing on the war effort. The invasion of our own territory is easily repulsed since a large military garrison was already present in the north following the insurrection that followed the removal of Mazzini. Although there is some discontent from various factions within the government, the populace is almost unanimously in support of the new government, especially in the north where people were most affected by both Mazzini and the Cypriots. The last remnants of resistance subside thanks to the many civil liberties and reforms instituted by the new government, which give a voice to all classes of people. And this is compounded by the recent foreign invasion, which causes the nation to unite in order to fight back against the Sultanate of Cyprus. Half the nation's forces remain in the Italy, while 50,000 are dispatched for a counterattack against Cyprus. The invasion is successful, and the Cypriots are defeated in battle on their territory. When news reaches the government of a fledgling resistance carrying out attacks across the nation the other half of the military still stationed in the country is able to quickly fight back against the insurrection. A delegation arrives in neutral Damietta to propose the a treaty. Intellectually the recent conflicts cause a sharp rise in Nascianism as people feel a sense of unity in repulsing the foreign invasion, and are pleased with the recent turn of events politically. With Bonaparte leading forces in Cyprus, and later traveling to Damietta, where he is met by Forlani, Giovanni Facta coordinates the home effort. As third consul Facta's term ends at the end of the year, and due to the interruption of war and being unable to pick a particular candidate to replace him, Facta instead nominates Francesco Adalberto, a high ranking officer who led the defense of Venice. Considering the circumstances Adalberto is voted into his consulship with little debate from either side. As part of the wartime development the government also begins construction of a proper, modern fleet, and orders the repair and renovation of the nation's many ports and shipyards, including the city of Venice.

From what I understood, Cyprus was more colonized than in real life, so I assume it's somewhere in the middle. If some MOD could give me a number, it would be appreciated.
    • OOC: Im not a mod, but yea If Nate says its 1-2 million you shouldn't be put on Algos as having 150k that's not fair.

    • Iberian Diplomacy: The governor of Guinea refuses to negotiate with the upstart Maghreb, since Iberia has been established in the area since 1445. (OOC: The forts were most definitely not overrun. You did no algo to occupy these ("Invasion of Rural and Coastal Mali" is way too vague), and your control of the coast is tenuous at best.)

Currently you are at Professional Line of Battle, No Grenadiers, none of the next tier. It will be awhile as most of these tactics have barely been used and tested in Europe. As for Grapeshot no.. it was invented during the Russian Civil war and it has not spread out from Russia and Belka who pioneered it into modern warfare (yes grapeshot existed before this but i doubt in swahili and in game has not been pioneered into modern warfare.) Were not saying you cant advance but you are not in a position to be advancing ahead of certain nations, you are also not in a position to develop certain vaccines and adopt/develop mathematical formulas that you dont have the basis for -Feud

In order to more effectively co-ordinate and keep Border defense paramount the Belkan military academia and leadership begins to construct border forts at key locations to hold the various mountain passes, border crossings, rivers, and also begins to consider fortifying the cities with multiple forts with Visegrad becomming the prime candidate for this as six forts begin construction hoping to deter any revanchism from the Hungarians. This will effectively lock down the region and force someone to capture at least one or two of the forts to even address taking the city or Sieging it.

Frederick Hohenzollern accepts the previous french offer over the colony in OTL Buenos Aires (Rio de la plata) using the funds to raise finish training 20,000 more troops now available as the Prussian nobility begins to seize the chance at regaining their independence from Burgundy. He also is able to replace is previous losses following the failed Burgundian seizure of Hamburg. (Also Feud mentioned Burgundy getting new naval advancement for the algo, whatever that meant). (he won the algo now too)

Messed up on the name guys, Frederick is a Hohenzollern not Hohenstaufen.

As I've noticed in the past few turns One of the players has been having direct control over other nation's armies and development. Another thing is that to those who participated in the conflict of Bohemia, it was over about two turns ago. This in otherwords means that Prussia's attacks wer false and were given permission to be ignored to the player of the attacking Nation.

    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia secretly sends military supplies to the Poles to support them against Russia.
    • OOC Person: And people dared to criticise me for my alliance with Belka.
  • Italian League: The Treaty of Damietta is finished and signed in the beginning of the year, officially ending the Italian-Cypriot War. Ships acquired during the war are integrated into our navy, with any new technology being studied and replicated in some of the nation's shipyards. The port of Venice and other major ports continue to be renovated, with new shipyards being expanded or reconstructed across the nation. The delegation from Damietta returns to Italy to much fanfare, with popularity and support for the new government increasingly steadily. By the time the army arrives back in Italy the insurrection against the government is essentially crushed, with the two nobles at the center of the rebellion being tried and executed. The first immigrants from Cyprus, as per the agreement with the Sultan, arrive in the nation, as do other expatriates from across Europe. The nation seeks a particular surge of immigration from Germany, where multiple conflicts seem to be raging. The government generally promotes this trend, hoping to increase the nation's population and source of manpower over the course of the next few generations. With stability restored the government launches an ambitious series of agrarian reforms meant to lower homelessness and increase the nation's overall agricultural yield. Hoping to improve using experience from the past several conflicts, Carlo Bonaparte personally oversees a renovation of the army. Professional line infantry is drilled and trained rigorously, and the first grenadier units are integrated into the army, following their introduction into Italy by Belkan soldiers during their garrisoning. Several new cavalry units of curiassiers and hussars are also trained.

  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 20px, Kodiak is expanded 5px. One Fur trapper sets up a tiny hut for fishing and communicating with the natives west of Tuvov and Kodiak, later this hut will become the city of Novoarchangelsk. Corn starts to crown across the empire, mainly in areas such as the Volga Basin and the Ukraine. Seeing the Polish leaderships belief the army at Minsk was going to march to Krakow, they foolishly moved their large army force down south to the City of Brest-Litovsk. The 130,000 man Army of White Ruthenia marches into Kaunas unopposed capturing all of Lithuania. The Army of White Ruthenia swings south linking up with the Army of Minsk and forms a massive 280,000 (130,000 AWR, 150,000 AoM) man army launches a huge attack on the outskirts of Brest-Litovsk, their commander is a certain Nikolai Vladimir, who was deployed to Belka during the days of the Italian Crisis. Its certain his name will go down in history as the man who broke the Polish Army. During the battle, the reports of Austrian troops and weapons sees two things, one the movement and usage of grapeshot ammunition in cannons, and a sercret message to Belka offering the Tsar some territory and influence in the area, and experience for his army if Belka attacks Austria and prevent them from continually aiding Poland. (Player Response). Two greuiling at Brest-Litvosk and the taking of the city at a huge price halts any new offensives. General Vladimir spreads his 240,000 troops across the border.
  • Poland Dip: They offer an armistice to the Russians.
  • Russia accepts the status quo and demands the return of its old territory.
  • Belkan Dip: Czar Vladimir throws his support behind a Russo-Polish Armistice.
  • Saxony: They quickly move 60,000 Troops to Warsaw where they quickly begin digging defensive positions and construct forts at primary river crossings. They also wire the bridges with barrels of gunpowder so they can blow the bridges.
  • Ethiopian Empire: The isolationism of Ethiopia begins to establish full monastic systems to replace secular institutions around the government. Remaining secular offices are replaced with "laymen" to act more as secretaries for managing clerical affairs. Laws in the nation enforce a legal code based on the Rule of Saint Benedict across the populace, compelling all citizens to show the utmost piety at all times. Fortresses are mostly converted into larger monestaries, except those on the border near the brook of Egypt and the Mediterranean Coast. The peace between Italy and Cyprus is signed at Damietta, with the Ethiopians hoping to maintian the status quo of the Treaty of Cairo in tact while still keeping the Muslims at bay.
  • Maghreb: The Sultan announces that he will be visiting Arabia, Swahili, and other Muslim states to spread good will and hopefully maintain and create a strong bond and alliance. The Sultan also sends an envoy to Iberia about the carving up of the remaining states of east africa and maintaining spheres of influence among east africa so we don't run into each other or compete and cause catastrophic wars. A trade road is also built that goes from Rabat through the desert to Timbuktu, Seluja, and Bamako, and down to the emirate of Mali. This road specifically circumvents the other states not under the Maghreb's protection. Settlements also begin to grow on this trade road as the area between mali and Maghreb grow. The Sultan also sends settlers to florida to reinstate the dying colony there which will hence forth be known as the Emirate of Ard Al-Zuhur. As Secular ideas and enlightenment spread, a popular Kazir writes a book about the seperation of Church and State. This grows popular as the Sultan begins minimizing the power of the muslim establishment. Laws against christians and infidels are slowly removed. Modernization of the military continues as Rabat becomes a shining center of culture and science. Malian Scientists move there and start their own universities where they teach african mathematics. The arts also flourish in the various universities. Fez, the official capital of Maghrebi Islam and State, becomes more conservative and adopts an ideology similar to Political Scholasticism in Europe, but with Islam instead of christianity. The Sultan is more in favor of the secular ideas and begins spending more time in Rabat. Many viziers and mayors of cities have now become elected. Bureaucracy has been minimized as the people become represented more.
    • Emirate of Mali: Berber immigrants move to Mali to find better lives away from the crowded cities of the mainland. The native Songhay population still maintains a strong foothold, but the military also has a strong prescence and looted and destroyed much of Malian culture.
    • Emirate of Ard Al-Zuhur: Colonists arrive in the previously dying emirate and begin rebuilding.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The Emir begins building and reaffirms his control over a sliver of land on the border with france.
    • Laurentid Vizierate: The Vizier ends his term and the first female vizier is elected. She begins improving the rights for women in the Vizierates and begins a new missionary program that melds islam with local beliefs.
    • Tajammanid Emirate: The cold, harsh weather of the emirate makes it turn into a penal colony where criminals are sent to become forced laborers. The extra labor allows the emirate to slowly adapt to the cold climate.
    • Seluja, Bamako and Timbuktu: The Military is still stationed there and they begin being turned into a police force to keep order. In Timbuktu, Malian culture and science as well as the Songhay language prosper.
  • Guuti Empire: Guuti III kills three of his sons so that his favorite one can ascend the throne when he dies. In order to deal with rampant corruption in police forces in the various farms of the empire, Guuti III and the seven shamans write a code of laws on an obelisk that will be reproduced and put in the different provinces. The main idea of the law code is based on the idea that physical strength is the best determiner of justice. It also believes that the eye-witness accounts of landowners are more valid than the eyewitness accounts of peasants. A second large settlement begins on the coast of Great Bear Lake known as the Chipewya. Craftsmen guilds begin to form in Chipewya and Ts'aots'ine. A group of nobles in Ts'aots'ine forms a commitee on the culture and pride of the Guuti Empire. They begin spreading the idea that Guutism and the empire should spread across the world. A new drug is developed by one of the seven shamans that is an extremely powerful version of Guuti's Blood. It is reserved only for the higher warriors and nobles.
  • Jin dynasty: Emissaries are sent to Tibet, offering that the Tibetans becomes a vassal/protectorate of Korea-China in-exchange for cessation of tributary missions (as Tibet would be seen as an autonomous territory of China) and patronage of Tibetan Buddhism (MOD RESPONSE). In Manchuria, the commandery is split into military-administered territory, and self-ruling territory appointed to various pro-Korean aristocrats, who seek to maintain Manchu culture. Koreanized Manchus are encouraged to migrate south into Korea. The Qianlong Emperor begins to spearhead bold social initiatives, opening government positions to those who would previously have been barred because of their social status. His reforms have the support of many silhak scholars, who begin dominating the imperial court and the intellectual climate. Key Confucianist texts such as the Four Books and the Five Classics are freely-distributed, aided by the spread of literacy due to the edict requiring at least one member of the household to be literate. The Sixteen Maxims continue, while the transition from moveable types to printing presses resulted in a renaissance in the printing industry. Pluviometres and water gauges are manufactured to maximize agricultural productivity, and the further adoption of New World crop varieties (mainly sweet potatoes and maize) in places where wheat or wet-rice cultivation is not feasible is encouraged. Bathhouses, spas, and latrines are constructed while basic hygiene and sanitation are taught. The policy of militarization due to Russian imperialism, continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments being built. Commercialization and the division of labour continues, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods from both the domestic and foreign market. The Emperor decides send more emissaries to the Angu peoples and peripheral tribes in Haegajang in-order to enrich the knowledge of their culture, while sends more colonists to cement the colony of Nangang.

  • Ququququ: Namton A'fao Koito dies at the tender age of 60 (probably). As the Council struggles to choose a new leader, it is announced that the council will fully take over the governing of the Ququququ union, and choose a Namton A'fao among themselves for symbolical purposes. As the burial ritual for Koito is organized, the Council finds a large text he seems to have been writing in secret for quite some time on his governing ideas for the Ququququ. Delighted by the idea, the Council decides to slowly start implementing what they call the Koito reform, by organizing the Ququququ territory and using Dajin methods of creating order in the nation. As the Ququququ nation is finally stable enough, the outlying tribes are contacted in order to induce them into the Union, expanding the Ququququ lands slowly (pixel expansion). New housing is built based on Jin emissaries knowledge, and Sino-Korean architecture slowly spreads through Ququququ, as well as roads and similar infrastructure to connect the population. The Ququququ also attempt to create a clothing style similar to the Jin, but using mostly sago and leather. The Koito reform continues and the nation is divided into provinces with provincial governors to maintain order in the four provinces, named after rivers and Mt. Bosavi. They are Bosavi, Purari, Asaro and Busu, with Asaro and Busu being further divided into smaller regions for the tribes.
    • Bilibil: With the help of numerous Ququququ workers the Bilibil rebuild their trade canoes and restore some homes, while new ones are built on the coast of the Ququququ union. This bring the Bilibil much closer to the Ququququ heartland.
  • Belkan Empire: Czar Vladimir makes a startling discovery of the personal treasury of the Czars which is found to be nearly empty, a problem caused by the hedonistic and opulence of the Czar. He begins to casually dip into the Imperial treasury at moments for his own spending needs keeping this much a secret as well. While this is going on Czar Vladimir is forced to deal with the death of his wife. His Belkan wife Imerina from Vlachia is known to have been the joy of his world and with her gone he becomes a much more sour and angry man beginning to distance himself from everyone. He even sends his own sons to different parts of the country. Boris is sent to Transylvannia while his heir Ferdinand is sent to foster with Kamarov the Younger and his own young protoge Ivan Korolev in Croatia and Serbia going in between. This is  where he is not only introduced to some of Belkas greatest military minds, but also the enlightenment which begins to greatly affect young Ferdinand who begins to think much more for himself. The Enlightenment also continues to spread now reaching the capital in Belgrad. This begins to spread through the philosophical and mental minded communities like wildfire with Zamuks Social contract theory gaining explicit traction. Across Belka a secret organization of the Intelligentsia begins to form known as the Sons of Freedom which begin many closed discussions on the feasibility of an enlightened government and forming a republic. While this is going on however many believe in the potential of preserving the monarchy as well leaving the Dracultesti family as the overall rulers of Belka. Many others believe in the removal of the Czars is a necessity and that the government needs to be entirely elected by Belkas citizens. However the establishment of who citizens are begins to cause issues and debate within the circles. This however is not something taken lightly and it becomes a focal point of debate between those who think that only Belkas originators in the East should retain citizenship (the Bulgars and Vlachs). Another viewpoint is that the Bulgars and Serbs as the prime drivers of the states development should retain citizenship. However the two dominant viewpoints that have originated are the universal male sufferage movement, as well as the Aristocratic voting system, by permitting higher voting power to higher class individuals. The discussion between these two major topics ends this years meetings on a down note as the indecision means that the enlightened thinkers have a long way to go. Further Research into new applications for cavalry continues with the mainline distinctions between Light and Heavy Cavalry being redefined under new systems.

Many came based on an OTL Japanese Mathematician named Seki Takakazu. In any case, Swahili, being far closer, far open and actively encouraging technology exchanges should have equal if not greater technological advancements than OTL Japan in the same time period.
  • Mobile howitzers are fine, socket bayonettes are fine (and are required for line infantry warfare) as for the math it just seemed like you were going to europe and immediately coming back. also you cant just assume your more open than OTL and are just as encouraging. The navy is worked on to have 50 warships in peace time and up to 300 ships ready for war. Traders are sent to India and S.E. Asia as they begin to work as trying to have Iran be seen as the gate to the East and West (in trade). The government begins to work on creating waterways, creating man made rivers and organizing ways of farming to help improve the population. The military is imporved as more men begin to join it.

  • Ethiopian Empire: The Emperor orders that the time has come to bring the piety of the Empire to a new level. The borders of the Empire are closed off from the outside world, and all the citizens within the nation are made to follow the same strict rules of conduct laid out by the Desert Fathers. The entire Empire, in essence, is transformed into a single monestary, and all the institutions within the Empire are mere branches of the whole. The Order of Saint Constance are dedicated particularly to maintain the basic principles for all theology, philosophy, science and mathematics. These are likewise processed and carried through the Library and Museum of Alexandria for the rest of the Empire. All art and literature are frozen within the baroque style. Pope Mark VI continues to implement the Council of Alexandria, but is also very old.

Silhak ideology continues to dominant the intellectual climate of younger aristocrats and the imperial court, much to the dismay of older aristocrats, who are threatened by its egalitarian principles, especially following the abolishment of serfdom (replaced by a system of contracted servitude), and various land reforms meant to cater to landless newly-emancipated serfs. Meanwhile, a law is passed requiring all former "nameless" individuals (typically serfs) to adopt a surname. Many of whom adopt the surnames of their previous landlords. Key Confucianist texts such as the Four Books and the Five Classics are freely-distributed, while education is encouraged for richer households. The transition from moveable types to printing presses results in a renaissance in the printing industry, with prose fiction becoming especially popular. Pluviometres and water gauges are manufactured to maximize agricultural productivity, and the further adoption of New World crop varieties (mainly sweet potatoes and maize) in places where wheat or wet-rice cultivation is not feasible is encouraged. Meanwhile, a recipe for "Black Rice Wine" (黑麦酒; Hēimài jiǔ) is made by the Lady Lin Tea Company, using rye bread, yeast, berries, and honey to make a briefly-fermented slightly-alcoholic drink. It proves popular among the public, but restrictions are passed barring consumption for those under seven years of age. However, he know he canno't do anything about the sum he must pay the Italians, and began to raise heavy taxes. Italian traders, who now recieve special treatment, are not requiered to register at the Mujtamae Altijara anymore.

The city of Tehran is picked the capital as most trade hubs are sit up around it. The military is re organized as generals are picked for loyalty and and effectiveness. Horse men from mostly the North East of the nation are picked to join special assault units " Al Farsi", they are sent to the Sha to give Ba'yah to him in Theran and are given high stature in the army after completing harsh military training. This foundation begins to gain more support as youth from mostly middle class families begin to follow the new organisation. The neocynicists, while throwing the pebbles at enlightenment followers seem to give on them the idea to use pressure on a stone to create the philosopher's stone. While unsuccessful, the englightenment alchemists discover more about the change of matter.

Jan Pawlak's success continues as the number of his works every year increases, creating a Polish golden age of science and mathematics.

  • Ethiopian Empire: The Emperor Theodore II retires in Medinah Jamil, but at this point merely leads the height of a large set of beurarcy across every institution of the nation, all led by monks. Each monestary is given juristiction over different aspects of culture and administration. The Order of Saint Christopher is placed in charge of the Empire's finances. The Order of Saint Origen is placed in charge of legal systems. The military alone is left out of monastic control, but is controlled directly by the Emperor. Relunctant to leave the palace himself, a runner carries a speach on behalf of the Emperor, proclaiming the Great and Holy Coptic Empire of Ethiopia and the Kingdom of Egypt shall be an example of piety and good Christian morals across the world, and all nations should take heed to their example. The economy is directed to good works and charity. Listening to his neighbors of Morocco and Arabia, Ethiopia re-opens their borders.
  • Maghreb: The Parliament works splendidly as unrest in Mali, Seluja, and Bamako dwindles as they find themselves more represented. Maghreb offers Iberia the states in between Mali and Maghreb as well as Benin and Songhai in exchange for leaving the Maghrebi Sphere of Influence alone (Iberia Response). Modernization of the military continues as Maghrebi and Malian scholars begin perfecting and creating new military tactics. The Muslim Establishment, now almost completely separate from the government, creates its own following among the nobles of Maghreb and begins organizing its own private missionary and colonial work. The Islamic Colonial Company is formed from these efforts which begins creating outposts throughout the world to spread Islam and make profits for its owners and subsequently the Maghrebi government. It becomes based in the Emirate of Ard Al Zuhur. The Zayidi Dynasty is glad Ethiopia reopened its borders, although they are still wary of the nation and concerned about the large population of muslims in Egypt.
    • Tajammanid Emirate: A distinct culture evolves in the criminal migrant class, which consists mostly of Songhay revolutionaries, pirates who illegally practiced slavery, and a variety of other criminal characters not wanted by the mainland government. They mix with native Patagonians and Mapuche peoples to form their own ethnicity and culture.

The first missionaries also begin to travel to this location, and follow expiration teams to contact the natives in Inner Novorossiya. Many students from Western Europe return home and bring enlightenment ideas to Russia. The Tsar hating the idea of the Republic of the past forms the Okhrana, and roots out "the bastards" as he calls them. A statue to General Vladimir is constructed in Vilnius, and gains only some applause by ethnic Russians in the region. The current Russian flag is deemed to be the War Banner of the Russian Empire, a more civil and older model sporting the same colors as the current banner but in the pattern of the old Tsardom flag is implemented as the Civil Banner. The Tsar promotes settlement into Siberia and Novorossiya (which quickly gains the nickname Alyeska). The country after the Second Russo-Polish War starts to gain in population. The current being that of 16.2 million. With new world crops growing and settlement in Siberia making the Ukraine and Southern Russia vast agricultural regions, should provide the basis for Russian population growth.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: An event bigger tax is imposed on the population of Cyprus to pay the debt that was basically brought by a white peace. Sultan Jalil continue to invest in rebuilding his navy, which protected the island back in the war with the Italians. A rift begin to appear between the Sulta, who is turning more and more conservative in his beliefs, and his heir Farid, who is still in favor of trade oriented policies and accpeting of the Europeans.
  • Jaffarid Arabia: We are finally glad that Ethiopia has finally re-opened their borders, although many in the House of Jaffar believe Ethiopia to be more of an enemy than an ally now. Modernization of military and navy continue, and it is finally expected that Arabia will have caught up with European technology within only a few more years. The infantry is finally restored, totally 430,000. Citizens are still encouraged to move to the vassals of Ganja, Shirva, and Azerbaijan.
    • Oman: Modernization of the military is cut due to Arabia having more advanced military, so we stick to solely modernizing the navy.
  • Malaya: The Enlightenment Movement leaks into the nation. Although not popular, it takes root in scholars and institutions. Anguzi practitioners also attempt to refine the concept of philosopher's stone, and work towards it. So far all they have is a hut full of broken rocks. The King's illness has worsened over the years, but still remains strong. Urbanisation continues in Sabah.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:We begin to send more labourers to the chumash islands to begin making proper habours to dock our boats and store our material. Our missionaries also begin slowly converting the chumash to Christianity and teaching them a bit of Portuguese. Our diplomats also ask Iberia if they can teach our own sciencetists to make gunpowder for our army so that we can better defend the crown when trade becomes unable to happen(iberia response)

He orders the construction of public bathhouses and spas, latrines, while revamping the sewage system to house a growing urban population. Pluviometres and water gauges are manufactured to maximize agricultural productivity, and the further adoption of New World crop varieties (mainly sweet potatoes and maize) in places where wheat or wet-rice cultivation is not feasible is encouraged. The Grand Canal is expanded and renovated to accommodate greater boat traffic, and in-order to provide adequate irrigation to more the far-flung inland rural communities. To facilitate transportation and internal commerce, roads are paved with stone. The policy of militarization due to Russian imperialism, continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments being built. Commercialization and the division of labour continues, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods from both the domestic and foreign market. Silhak ideology continues to dominant the intellectual climate of younger aristocrats and the imperial court. Key Confucianist texts such as the Four Books and the Five Classics are freely-distributed, while education is encouraged for richer households. The transition from moveable types to printing presses results in a renaissance in the printing industry, with prose fiction becoming especially popular, bolstered by an increasing literati. Other genres such as cooking books also gain popularity. Due to the abolishment of serfdom (replaced by contracted servitude) and among other factors, the caste system becomes increasingly irrelevant (though cheomin are still barred from imperial examination), with former serfs, through granted property rights and land, becoming well-off relatively affluent peasants. However, many former serfs who still refuse to buy government-owned land, instead become contracted labourers (for former domestic serfs) or land tenants; though aristocratic landlords are obliged to provide them monetary compensation in-exchange for rent (which is separate and paid through agricultural tribute). Efforts to assimilate members of the baekjeong subclass of the cheomin caste begins once again, with members forced to be registered and live in permanent-fixed settlements, instead of autonomous crowded ghettos near villages. This is met with resistance, with the baekjeong primarily engaging in revived banditry. Within the imperial court, there are discussion of establishing the same social structure in China (where there is no caste system), and Korea (which retains an increasingly weak caste system). As of now, such talks are shelved, though the cheomin caste no longer becomes inescapable (while still hereditary), with a test (similar to imperial examination) determining whether they can ascend to the sangmin (commoner) caste or not. However, first-generation "freed" cheomin are still barred from taking imperial examination itself, while their children and descendants could. "Black Rice Wine" becomes widely popular, but milk-tea still continues to dominate Southern China and Korea.

More ships of the line come out of the yards and into service while the marine forces are expanded and the budget for the navy is increased. Alliances with Burgundy are strengthened (however one strengthens an alliance).
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west into Albama as waves of farmer frontiersmen push in coming from Britain encouraged by offer of free land and vote in the colonial assemblies. Each colony is given it's own assembly to govern it in accordance with the British Crown and significant land owners. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. There is a militia of 21,000 citizens who are while unprofessional do have weapons and supplies. The colonies are at 2.2 million people. The City of England is founded by the settlers wherever it may be and there is fur trading and fishing in addition to logging and other stuff.
  • Iberia: Fur traders build trading posts up the Mississippi and Missouri, expanding the Mêcicipi colony upriver. Maranhão expands into the OTL states of Maranhão and Piauí as more of the interior is colonized. Settlers continue arriving in Santa Apolónia (OTL Réunion), founding settlements on the south side independent from the Omani/Qamarid settlements in the north. The young Prince Henrique (for whom Fort Henrique is named) begins taking an interest in the affairs of Mêcicipi, and petitions his father to let him visit there some day.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Reeling from the loss of Prussia proper, it is decided to redouble focus on what made Burgundy a world power in the first place: its navy, and thanks to the adoption of modern tactics, now stronger than ever. The Triomfant-class 110-gun ships-of-the-line, the first of their type to equip copper sheathed hulls, are continued to be built at a steady rate, with the Royal Navy commissioning one roughly every few weeks. With the acquisition of Luxembourg-Lorraine, Burgundian troops secure the region, and Emperor William names his grandson and heir, Crown Prince Frederick, Grand Duke of Luxembourg-Lorraine. An envoy is sent to the Papacy, looking to enter negotiations about incorporating the secular lands of the Bishoprics of Metz and Verdun (the two small states Burgundy now completely surrounds) in return for leaving their clerical jurisdictions untouched (Papacy response pls).
Settlement of the Northwest Islands increases, especially at Nihoa. Two fisherman, who years prior during the wars of unification, attacked the king with a paddle in self defense, are brought before the king to be executed. The king. however, orders that they be spared as they acted only in self defense. Additionally, the king issues the Kānāwai Māmalahoe, or Law of the Splintered Paddle, essentially ending the practice of raiding across the Hawaiian Islands, and declaring that every elderly person, woman, and child shall be able to lie by the roadside in safety. The law is issued across the islands, essentially becoming the first law regarding human rights and the treatment of civilians in Hawaii.
  • Archduchy of Austria: With millitant training almost complete, the number of proffesional troops replace the number of non trained troops. Another 28,000 troops joined the proffesional troop training to make a much larger professional army.  Development of the country continues. The Austrian Bread basket continues to grow as well. With more farmland available in both the Austrian and Bohemian Countrysides. This leads to more jobs being made. With goods being imported from Trieste from Foriegn lands, we continue to bring in a variety of goods. Economic growth continues and this leads to more homes being built for the worst off citizens in both Bohemia and Austria.

Another day another trap queen. You have one hour SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:02, July 20, 2017 (UTC)

The Pope slips and cracks his coccyx.

The central power of Mali loses authority due to the Maghrebi sacking of Niani.

The Holy Roman Emperor dies a young 90-year-old man. (or so I've been told that he's been ruling since 1679, this event may be suspect to change).

Scandinavia expands its Arcadian colonies, claiming all of Prince Eric's land (OTL Prince Rubert's land).

Those who encounter the Yeti and live begin reporting that they always return back to the same mountain pass, hidden in the unexplored regions of Nepal, as if they are guarding something.

  • Guuti Empire: The Guuti raid the most western areas of Prince Eric's Land and stop Scandinavian expansion. A passage is discovered in the Dead Man's Codex that talks of white men and how they are very competitive amongst each other. Some warriors, as opposed to killing the Scandinavians, offer them high positions in the Guuti Military in exchange for riches and the various powerful drugs the Guuti Shamans were famous for (MOD Response). A few guns are requisitioned from Scandinavian frontier posts but the main colonies and king are largely unaware. Guuti shamans and craftsmen begin studying the guns and gunpowder, trying to figure out how to manufacture more of them. When building, a small deposit of diamonds is discovered. Craftsmen begin using slave labor to build a large hole to get more of them.
  • Russia: The Tsar places a Lithuanian noble as the head of the now integrated Province of Lithuania. Tuvov is expanded 20px into the Tuvov peninsula. Kodiak is expanded 10px inland. Novoarchangelsk is expanded 10px initially. The Island of St. Paul is colonized by Fur Trappers and integrated into the Aleutia Colony. The population continues to grow. As more people move East and more land for farms is made. Minor famines in Siberia due to the climate leads to farmers out west getting some nice profits. The first armaments factory is opened up in Sakhatsk. The Tsar sends his overdue congratulations to Prussian King Frederick Hohenzollern, congratulating him on the consolidation of Prussia and hoping good relations between the two powers. (Secretly the Tsar sends the Prussians arms and cannons for a possible Prusso-Polish War). Orthodox missionaries spread into the what the RTK is calling, the "Pyotr Archipelago." Fur trapper settlements are founded on Attu, Agattu, and Semispochnoi Islands and are integrated as communites into Aleutia. The Tsar begins to separate relations with Belka, seeing the Belkans as invisible rulers of Russia. To a committee of nobles and generals the Tsar says Russia wont be joining Belkan wars with military presence if their isn't anything for Russia to gain (alluding to territory). The Tsar sees less of a European focus, but of an Empire focus.
  • Maghreb: The Sultan's power becomes even more lessened as several enlightenment and liberal politicans ascend to parliament. Coalitions of politicians under the same political banner begin to form to promote their ideologies. Three major groups emerge, the Traditionals(pre-enlightenment ideals), the Patriots(conservative enlightenment ideals), and the Progressives(progressive enlightenment ideals). Several members of the private Islamic Colonial Company begin lobbying the government through the Traditionals to undertake an expedition around the horn of Africa to the lands of Australia which were previously visited by Islamic Trepongers during the height of the Rashidun Caliphate. A popular philosopher and Patriot, Muhammed Bin Farajin Al Fez, writes a book on the politics of the Patriot Movement, which seems to be the most popular of the groups.
    • Tajammanid Emirate: The Criminals revolt and force the Emir to step down. He is replaced by an elected Vizier.
    • Vizierate of Al Maqadas: The Vizier institutes reforms and gives more freedom to the indentured servants brought over from Mali as well more reforms for natives and women.
    • Emirate of Ard Al Zuhur: The city of Ard Al Zuhur becomes a hub of Traditionalist thinking and the Islamic Colonial Company begins organizing more expeditions in Africa and the Americas.
    • Vizierate of Ardu Bayda: The port experiences more business and the Vizier begins promoting business.
    • Kongo Outposts: The Islamic Colonial Company's outpost in OTL Cabinda and Islamic missionary work begins. Hired Corsairs begin capturing local people and shipping them to Ard Al Zuhur, Ardu Bayda, Al Maqadas, and the Mainland, as part of an underground illegal slave network. The Outpost's existence is still unknown to the government.
    • Timbuktu: Songhay Culture grows and the sultan (who was the former sultan of Mali), is deposed in favor of a Fula leader, who declares a Fulo Empire. Maghreb recognizes the Fula leader as the ruler and he agree to sponsor his conquests if he doesn't attack Maghrebi holdings and protectorates as well as paying tribute to Maghreb.
    • Seluja and Bamako: Fula rebellions in Seluja and Bamako spark up after the declaration of the Fual Empire.
    • Emirate of Mali: The sacked Malian cities are rebuilt using Moorish architecture. Berber becomes more prominently used.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:We continue sending setlers to Chumash islands and our labourers begin to build farms and docks. We also ask Iberia if we can buy 25 000 guns for our army so that we can store some guns for if trade because unable to continue(Iberia Response). Our goverment also begins to build some hospitals in the citty of Mzer and Diltwa Wituye, this is done to have a lower amouth of premature death. We also begin to make more laws around Cittyzien rights and landownership, one of those cittyzien rights is the right to own land and the right to get free basic education. We begin to build more schools in our citties and villages these schools learn basic skils like math, writing and religion these schools are free for all Christians,th is is to make people convert to christianity.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees to sell the guns, but they will arrive over a period of years.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: The Sultan once again had a dispute with his heir Farid, and debate began to start on "will the Sultan keep Farid as his heir or not?". Cyprus continue to pay its debt. The Sultan Jalil ask the Belkan Empire to help them modernize the island. And if they could build forts to protect the million habitants of Cyprus. (Forts to be owned by Cyprus after construction)
    • OOC: Didn't have a lot of time or inspiration for this post...
    • Belkan Dip: Agreed, we offer to expand the former protection agreement that extended in naval terms, and agree to a status of forces with Belkan built forts. (this means Belka would like to provide a garrison of high level troops for Cyprus.
Dar as Salaam is planned with full scale infrastructure before its construction. We declare war on the Rowzi. 50,000 professional troops are sent to capture the Rowzi coasts while another 50,000 soldiers are stationed to defend Sofala.
    • ''Swahili Diplomacy: We ask to build an embassy in Ethiopia and to sign trade agreements.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further develop
    • Swahili OOC: Qamar has been integrated, please add it to the map.
    • Fallacy, please format your turns correctly. -Feud
  • Belkan Empire:The Empire continues to see corruption increase from various imperial beraucracies. While this has been someone endemic to the system, the Belkan bereaucracy has generally been a good measure less corrupt than most other national beraucracies. However with the mismanaged money of the Czar being discovered by Bereaucrats, instead of fixing the issue, they also do much of the same thing, using money from the national treasury to line their pockets and host lavish feasts and events in excess. This has not become noticeable to the general public yet however, the representative of Belkas military in charge of the funding of the military has begun to notice something wrong. Field Marshall Ivan Vasilev specifically begins looking through Belkas financial transactions utilizing his own personal guard to get the information he cant access per usual. In most cases he doesnt even have to use them but when accessing the financial records of the Bereaucrats he seems some stiffened resistance. The Belkan economy in general remains strong but some slight lacking in usual government services begins to become noticeable as some jobs are lost, and the cities and infrastructure systems begin to become a bit more mismanaged. The Belkan fleet and army remain extremely potent and effectice entities with the Belkan army in particular coming back into prominence as the purge of the ineffective leadership ends now leaving the Army back to its pre corruption levels of effectiveness. The research into the uses of Hussars and Curiassiers continues however the perfect balance and tactics to be used remain rudimentary. The Belkan army also effectively brings grapeshot into the army in full capacity now making it a mandatory munition for cannons. The Belkan army also begins effective drilling in fire by platoon increasing rate of fire for the line infantry. This however is restricted to the Black Guards Regiments stationed in Belgrad, Vasiligrad, Sibenik, Visegrad. Oured, and Sofiya. The Black Guards regiments are effectively the main force meant for garrisoning the capitals of the component principalities.
  • Iberia: Relations with Goa deteriorate after a chapel is constructed in the Iberian quarter. The Muslim rulers feel their power is being usurped and conspire to expel the Iberians from Goa. They make a serious error, however, by waiting months to gather enough forces to strike instead of relying on the element of surprise. This gives Iberia enough time to learn of the plot and muster their own forces on the outskirts of the city. By September, tensions have reached boiling point. The Muslims occupy Goa, seizing the merchants' property and forcing them to flee the city. With relations breaking down, the decision is made to take Goa by force. Jacó do Sequeira's fleet arrives with reinforcements: 36 ships and 1400 troops, for a total of 3800 troops. Sequeira launches an assault on the fort of Pangim, before attacking the city proper. His fleet sails up the river and bombards the city's defenses. After two days of siege, Iberian forces assault the city directly and capture it within hours. With the city in Iberian hands, Jacó do Sequeira orders the defenses be rebuilt and garrisoned by 500 troops. Pangim is garrisoned by 400 troops. The conquest of Goa marks the collapse of the Goa Sultanate's authority, as the seat of power moves north and further inland. Meanwhile, several trade agreements are signed with the Mota Ain kingdom, allowing for greater Iberian influence on the coast for the economic benefit of Mota Ain. Mota Ain prospers due to Iberian trade. Fur traders build trading posts up the Mississippi and Missouri, expanding the Mêcicipi colony upriver. Maranhão expands into the OTL states of Maranhão and Piauí as more of the interior is colonized. Settlers continue arriving in Santa Apolónia (OTL Réunion).
    • Iberian Diplomacy to Rozwi: Aware of the ever-expanding Swahili Empire that now claims dominion over the whole of Madagascar and the East African coast, Iberia offers an alliance with the Rozwi against their Swahili invaders. (Mod Response)
  • Sicily: Carlo V Orsini is elected King of Sicily, following the reigns of the previous kings from the House of Braganza. The king represents a faction within the nation calling for jingoism and expansion, as well as independence from the influences of foreign powers. As such Carlo anulls all foreign treaties/alliances, believing that entangling alliances with powers across Europe have only expended the nation's resources, without gaining much in return. The alliances with Iberia, Papal States, and Austria (which is secret) are quietly ended. This is also to start fresh as king. The nation also immediately mobilizes for war against the Italian League, believing that they have alienated themselves from their allies and have been weakened by recent wars. The Arbitration of Rome is viewed by the king as humiliating, and he is prepared to reject it outright and go to war himself to prove his nation successful. The king does however try to initiate good relations with France and Savoy, believing that they would be a good ally against the Papal States. Enlightenment thinkers are recruited and encouraged to emmigrate to Sicily.
    • Italian League Diplomacy: Although the previous regime of Sicily had been against the Italian League, we hope to be on more cordial terms with the new government, and propose that we open trade between our two nations and begin mending the poor relations we have for each other.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is the obvious spread of all those ideas from Europe which are taken in by the nobility and clergy. The 30,000 soldiers in Malwa continue patrolling the interior of the country and the borders to stop infiltration. Malwa remains independent but Company troops operate in the country's interior largely responsible for it's preservation of order. The school system is maintained with establishment of publicly funded grammar boarding schools which teach the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic in a two-year course using a system of older boys assisting in the education of younger boys. This new college is based in Oxford near the library while there is expanded printing facilities to give more reading material. Continued mining of coal at seams starting at the sea. As less people are employed in agriculture due to advances some have to move to towns and cities to find work. Agricultural revolution continues to work with the country continuing use of land reclamation, four field crop rotation and enclosures. England has 6.6 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million, Ireland has 2.1 million people and Scotland 1.0 million people. The army undergoes a shifting of forces to the south of England with 10,000 in London, 5000 in Portsmouth, 2000 in Dublin and 1000 in Cork, 1000 in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen each and 2000 in Cardiff while an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 5000 in Arcadia, 2000 in English Maiam, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 200 ships stationed in Bristol. Trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe is profitable. More ships of the line come out of the yards and into service while the marine forces are expanded and the budget for the navy is increased. 20,000 troops and 100 ships are moved from England to New London (OTL Savanah) ostensibly for a war with the Iroquois or possibly some other natives in the western hemisphere but nothing is confirmed concrete about plans with further orders expected from London. For now the force in addition to food are shipped over and hold position in New London.
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west into Alabama as waves of farmer frontiersmen push in coming from Britain encouraged by offer of free land and vote in the colonial assemblies. The City of England continues to prosper.
  • Italian League: Renovations of the navy and military continue. The forts that have been under construction across the nation, particularly in the south, for the past decade (or more) are completed, essentially creating a well constructed boundary with our neighbors. We continue to offer the new Sicilian government support in exchange for alleviating tensions between our nations and opening trade. Upon receiving news of the expansionist policies the new government is undertaking, however, the military is mobilized and forts are garrisoned in case of an outbreak of war. We ask for a trade agreement with Iberia, hoping to bring our two nations closer together and cooperate in the future.
  • Scandinavia: King Gustav Augustus declares Scandanavia Defender of the Faith of the Protestant Faith. He sends 10000 regulars to the new world to be stationed in Princes Eric's Land and Greenland. Along with building 12 Ships of the line and 10 2nd rates along with 100 or so support ships.
    • Prince Erics Land and Swedish Arcadia Prince Erics land expands south to a large Lake that Explorers have named Lake Enormo.
    • Guuti Diplomacy: A message is written in blood in the Guuti Script on the walls of a ransacked frontier fort. It says "Beware the Wrath of God (Guuti)".
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: with the passing of Emperor William, Frederick, his eldest grandson who was named the new Grand Duke of Luxembourg-Lorraine, becomes king. Naval expansion continues, with the majority of non-copper sheathed ships-of-the-line now retired, or razeed into heavy frigates. With the acquisition of Luxembourg, it is decided the ship-of-the-line SMS Admiral Lëtzebuerg, named for Jean de Luxembourg, considered the father of the Burgundian Navy, is to be renamed to avoid confusion about namesakes. It is renamed Eisenbastard (Iron Bastard) after his in-life nickname. Along with Britain, some 20,000 troops are sent to New Netherlands, and while no official reason is given, rumor begin circulating about an impending war with the Iroquois.

After their miraculous discovery of several diamonds, Guuti people find it inescapably difficult to mine further.

The King of Prussia offers a marriage alliance with his heir to the Tsar of Russia.

Weakening leadership in Maghreb sees the rise of local rulers feuding over their three predominent philosophies: Badri ("traditionalists", most popular with common people), Jaeshi ("patriots", most popular with the military), and M'utazili ("progressivists", most popular with the clergy).

Now having rights to land ownership, soome citizens of Mzerka begin making a thriving business of realestate.

The Caliph in Cairo writes to Cyprus his support for Farid as the heir of the Sultanate.

After the conquest of Goa, large numbers of Muslims in southern India lean their support for the British and their Islamic Army, percieved as the enemies of Iberia.

Neoscholastic scholars that make up the majority of Sicily's population lean heavily towards at least making truce with the Italian League, in the hope of spreading their philosophy further.

Some Iroqoise are (perhaps understandably) upset to see the City of England cut into land granted to them by England generations ago.

Scandinavian envoys report a series of mysterious murders by frontiersmen of their colonies. After hearing the threats of Guuti, the people in Prince Eric's Land start mass panic over percieved murderous and barbaric people.

  • Guuti Empire: Guuti III uses the Scandinavian's fear of him to his advantage and begins committing several ritualistic assassinations of generals and explorers. On one fort, the entirety of the Dead Man's Codex is inscribed, and the fort is painted with Guuti's Tears for Scandinavians to find. The local feudal lords begin training their warriors in covert assassinations and operations as opposed to open warfare. One of the seven shamans finishes a scroll about Guutism and the evil of whites. A Craftsman begins studying the ways of the earth and develops a simple form of science and mathematics. The expontentially rising population of the empire begins being put to use in growing diamond mines. The Diamonds are linked with Guutism by being Guuti's sperm(yes you heard me right) that never turned into humans. The Diamonds are said to have souls and this makes them powerful objects in magic and in combat. Not only are they used in currency, but they are used as spear heads due to them being extremely sharp. The Devotees capture a Scandinavian frontiersman, ask him tell the ruler of scandinavia to give them guns in exchange for diamonds. They give the frontiersman a diamond, drug him so he won't remember where the mines are, and send him back to Prince Eric's Land to deliver the message.
    • Guuti to Scandinavia: As shown in the emboldened thing, we'll give you diamonds if you give us guns.
  • Jaffarid Arabia: Having gone through intense training and increasing the moral of the citizens of Arabia, we invade Ethiopia with Persian help, sending in a combined force of 361,250 soldiers. Using simultaneous attacks methods, as well as outnumbering them three to one, we declare full occupation of Cairo and mainland Egypt by the middle of the year. Forts are built in Cairo to properly defend a possible Ethiopian The main war victory proves critical in raising approval ratings and boosting moral for the citizens to support the war effort more. Our technology, which had reached European levels of modernization the previous year, proved crucial in our war effort. Work In Progress.
This foundation begins to gain more support as youth from mostly middle class families begin to follow the new organisation. The navy is worked on to have 50 warships in peace time and up to 300 ships ready for war. Traders are sent to India and S.E. Asia as they begin to work as trying to have Iran be seen as the gate to the East and West (in trade). The government begins to work on creating waterways, creating man made rivers and organizing ways of farming to help improve the populationThe military is improved as more men begin to join it. The army is sent to Arabia to support in the invasion of Egypt, we ask for massive revolts across Egypt mostly from the muslim population (MOD). Most of these troops are held in as rear guard to cover Arabian troops. The navy is also sent in.
    • 'No. There is no "asking" for revolts. -scraw'
    • Persia dip: fighting cease as white peace is made, with all factions (via discord)
  • Maghreb: Although Maghreb is in support of the Arab-Persian Alliance and will send supplies and bolster Persian and Arab war efforts, Maghreb currently doesn't have the manpower to support a war and is still recovering from the Conquest of Mali so they will stay formally neutral. Populations continue to grow as art and architecture blossoms. Many political sects and ideologies form from the three main groups. The philosophies of the enlightenment continue to become more widespread accross Maghreb. The Parliament also reorganizes the colonies of Maghreb(specifically Tajammanid, Aydu Bayda, and Al Maqadas) into the Overseas Laurentian Vizierate. The Emirate of Ard Al Zuhur and Forts in Cabinda are placed under control of the Islamic Colonial Company. The Emirate of Mali is also placed under direct control of Maghreb and made a department of Maghreb. After Fula rebellions in Seluja, the sultanate is placed on the Fulo Empire's control. The Sultan falls ill and faith in his leadership begins to wane among the royal house and parliament. Maghrebi Soldiers are stationed at the ethiopian border to prevent any spillover from the war.
    • Islamic Colonial Company: Many more members of the company start organizing a trip around the horn of Africa. The Expedition will stop off at the Sultanate of Zayiyr and Swahili before heading west to Indonesia and continue to OTL Australia, where rumored Makassan fishermen visited and discovered a vast landmass. It is expected to reach Australia by next year. When stopping off in Zayiyr, the Corsair Corps visit the Sultan and offer to give him protection from Europeans and neighbors in exchange for a tribute (Mod Response)
    • Overseas Vizierates: Small, but relevant independence movements start in the Tajammanid Emirate, which has developed its own culture. Groups of Corsairs begin to grow in the Tajammanid Emirate and raid Mapuche and Burgundian settlements.
  • Sicily: The king formally declares war against the Italian League, the threats against the Papal States having been a diversion. He cites the nations' long history of numerous conflicts, and with the Italian League having been weakened by numerous recent wars, he believes now is the time to strike. We secretly send diplomacy to France and Savoy asking them for an alliance against the Italian League. Forces are mobilized and pour into the southern sections of the League scoring an early victory. We send a list of demands to the Italian League demanding that they cede the southern half of their nation immediately, and become a puppet of Sicily, who shall be viewed as the dominant Italian power.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 20 px in the Peninsula and the Tuvov Inlet, Kodiak is expanded 10px, Novoarchangelsk is expanded 10px. The Tsar accepts Fredericks proposal and sends his daughter Elizabeth to marry his heir. The Siberian Governate in a Secret surprise move, moves the entire Pacific fleet to ports at Danila and Tuvov, one Cruiser is sent to guard Novoarchangelsk. Construct of five sided 60 gun forts for Port Sibir and Vostok begins. Two ships-of-the-line, five galleons, and 10 frigates in the Black Sea ports. The 100 ships of the Black Sea Fleet masses in Sevastopol. In response to the invasion of Ethiopia a popular Muscovite singer named Nikita Guskov creates a song that goes viral across the nation and begins to seep into Belka, "Spirit in the Sky." The Tsar deploys 80,000 professional and 200,000 unprofessional soldiers on the Circassian border. In case of war the Tsar asks the Pontic King for support in return they would gain the region of Aklhat and Ganja. (Mod Response) Orthodox missionaries begin to travel to the Khanate and Japan and continue to travel to America. Population growth continues with the population at 16.3 million.
    • Pontic King agrees. ~Cal
  • Italian league: We receive news of the declaration of war by Sicily and immediately begin moving our forces south. Considering that the forts were already garrisoned and the nation was already mobilized 60,000 professional soldiers and 60,000 unprofessional soldiers are immediately brought to the border in time to counterattack the invasion force. The invading force is first met at the Battle of Lanciano, and again further south against a second army. having repulsed the initial assault, 20,000 professional soldiers and a large armada are brought to the coast to launch an assault on Bari, in an attempt to surround the Sicilian army in the center of their nation.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Completely taken off guard by the sudden invasion by Arab forces, much of the border forces for the Kingdom of Egypt are quickly pushed back, while word is sent south to the Emperor. Theodore II, now over 50 years old, rises to the occasion to be a Great Leader for his people just as he was back in the last Arab-Ethiopian War. Although he moved out of Medinah Jamil to a more central location, he nonetheless remained in Ethiopia proper while commanding troops from a distance. A total of 300,000 troops are sent to counter the Jaffarid invasion of the eastern Nile delta, mounted with the greatest Dardanelles cannons and falconets with other siege weapons. However, the lighter cavalry are sent ahead to quickly strike the Arab forces first. The artilery is largely carried by boat, as the full Ethiopian navy is sent up the Pelusium branch of the Nile to bombard the Jaffarid forces from the banks. Meanwhile, the remaining 50,000 Ethiopian troops are sent westward to stop the Moroccans before they reach Alexandria, recruiting mercenaries from the Coptic people of Alexandria to bolster the defense. As the Treaty of Cairo was violated, the Emperor orders the city of Cairo to be smoothly annexed. A local battle with the Kilab Al-Rub takes place in Gezira, but afterward the Caliph and the Ulema are quickly arrested and taken into custody. This means that every single clergyman in Sicily will stop administering the Sacraments: no public Masses will be celebrated, no confessions will be heard. In short: the entire clergy of Sicily must go on strike due to the King breaking the Papal Peace. The Papal Army and Navy are mobilised, and the border forts are manned and armed to the teeth. In other news, the Pope calls on European powers to assist Christian Ethiopia, including through attacking and annexing the colonies of the Muslim powers. Burgundy is informed that the Pope is not in principle opposed to the annexation of the Bishoprics, however will ask for some form of compensation for the Church, and/or the bishops retaining some form of gubernatorial power within Burgundy [maybe a seat in Parliament, idk]. Missions continue.

  • France: In the Year of Our Lord 1740 France continues to see unprecedented prosperity. As the human zoo continues to expand free from public view the King continues to work on his ethnically motivated exhibits this time adding Dutch, Burgundian French, and English. The English and Dutch are shown to be manipulative, uncatholic, uneducated, and greedy. Conversely the Burgundian French are show to be easily manipulated although they do express larger intelligence due to a language perfected from the conquers of the majority of Europe. These portrayals begin to lead to the assumption that English and Dutch are not to be trusted while the French Burgundians are lost souls in needing of a savior. In the field of commerce the French East India company continues to experience unprecedented profits from the gold mines at Or Noir to the spice monopoly in the East Indies. In terms of these profits a reinvestment scheme begins, the purchase and resale of opium throughout Europe especially concentrated around England and Burgundy, with an official moratorium on sales in France. The merchants in charge of the purchasing and resale form there own price fixing Cartel named after the port they are based out of. Thus the Bordeaux cartel is formed. The Cartel assumes the role of smuggling the drug into Burgundy and England. As the slave trade continues to be a profitable trade for the East India Company a new trading post is built on the OTL gold coast. As we are offered an alliance by the magnificent nation of Austria we accept and we request that a small portion of French speaking territory be designated the Duchy of Alsace along these borders. With a war in the colonial sector commencing a invasion of Jamaica with five thousand professional troops. • HRE dip: The Emperor permits this as it would make sense for the french speaking majority of the area.
  • Sicily: By early 1740 the situation is dire for the Sicilian military in its war against the Italian League. By this time all of Puglia and the eastern coast, most of central Sicily, and the area around Naples had already fallen to Bonaparte's advance. In early April the city of Naples falls to the Italians, but not before the king and his government, as well as the bulk of the garrison, manages to flee by sea. The king arrives in Palermo to established a new capital, while the armed forces under the command of de Marsala arrive in Calabria to aid the king's son, the Duke of Calabria, in the defense of the peninsula. By May, however, the Italian army essentially drives out the Sicilians from the mainland, leading to a general retreat to Sicily proper. The king calls for defenses to be placed all around the island, and refuses to consider peace no matter what. He orders letters be sent to the Papal States apologizing for breaking the peace, but requesting that the Papal States come to their aid to preserve the balance of power in Italy and preserve security for their own nation. He also threatens to break away from the church if the Papal States continues to interfere in the religious matters of the kingdom while not coming to its aid. Multiples letters are sent out, known as the Venosta Letter, after Sicily's foreign minister, although a few are believed to be intercepted. We also ask Austria for aid in invading the Italian League. The letters are sent, however, in June the king is deposed by the nobles of Sicily. Matteo Orsini, the king's son and one of the lead generals, participates in the coup in exchange for the throne, on the condition that he be open to a peace treaty. While the Italian League is presumably planning to invade the island, the king sends envoys hoping to establish a cease fire. In the meantime, however, war continues, with the armed forces now being tasked in an exclusively defensive manner.

  • Italian League: The war continues against Sicily, and by the middle of the year the entirety of the kingdom aside from the island of Sicily itself is under Italian occupation. We offer to sell the two colonial possessions seized from Sicily via the treaty to Britain.

  • Saxony: With recent economic prosperity in the HRE and the threat of pirates Otto I of Saxony decides to commission a massive fortress built on an artificial island in the middle of the Elbe to guard from any assaults upstream on Dresden via the Elbe and to act as a new residence and impregnable fortress for the Saxon Royal Family. Around the walls of the Fortress a new city begins to rise named Elba. It quickly becomes a center of trade and so also quickly becomes known as the Trader’s Isle for the large amount of Docks, Taverns, and Markets for merchants to stay in the city for extended periods making it a necessary stopping point for ships coming up and down the Elbe where Ships can be repaired, Merchants can sell their goods, and Sailors can spend their coin on Ale and Prostitutes in the various whore houses and Pubs also scattered on the Island. As the landowners have become direct cultivators the skilled farm laborers and tenants have moved to neighboring Tamil areas and Northern Kerala. The commercialization of agriculture has led to an increase in wages in southern Kerala and the standard of living in Southern Kerala. The Raja visits southern Kerala hearing of the standard of living and general prosperity of the people in southern Kerala. Greatly impressed by the absence of a feudal system, he decided to implement the same in other areas but remains quiet about his ideas, deciding to implement them later. Economic prosperity and standards of living increase steadily. The island of Maladweep is further developed.

  • Jin dynasty: The Qianlong Emperor launches an edict officially abolishing the increasingly-irrelevant and useless Korean caste system. Instead, the caste system is reformed into a five-rank system based off Chinese social structure, and is implemented in both China and Korea. The castes include (hierarchically): landlords and other aristocratic positions, white collar workers, merchants, craftsmen, and peasants (divided into land tenants and free peasants/labourers). However, the system is no longer hereditary, with the status of nobility and having to be obtained via imperial examination. Contracted servitude has now fully replaced remnants of institutionalized serfdom, with aristocrats having to pay labourers for service, and land tenants (which replaces the role of the serf) having to pay rent (usually in the form of agricultural goods). Property laws are further liberalized, and wages are heightened. An investigation into potential government corruption begins. The public distribution of Confucian classics, a lax intellectual climate, and improved education causes a revival in Confucian thought and various reinterpretations of Confucius' teachings, with the silhak (renamed into shixue) sect gaining the most followers. By the end of the year, 8,800 people reside in the area raising the rank of Fucking into town status. 3 churches and 1 synogogue are planned to be completed in the town by next year being in average size. A snowstorm buries Prague this Christmas leaving the city as a winter wonderland. We request an alliance with France this year as well and a trading deal with The Italian League ( Player Responses).
  • Jaffarid Arabia: We begin losing our front of the war, and to continue citizen support for the war, begin spreading anti-Ethiopian propaganda shaming Ethiopia for collapsing the Caliphate and effectively humiliating Islam. We tell our Muslim brothers in Ethiopia to rebel against the Coptic nature of the nation to help restore greatness to our holy religion and to our holy state, as well as to free our true leader, the Caliph. We secretly prepare what should be are final push in the Ethiopian War, and if our Muslim brother's trapped inside the confines of Ethiopia were to succeed in rebelling, then we should be able to make a large push to re-occupy the Sinai and much of the eastern region of Egypt. Upon re-occupation of those locations, we would seek a formal end to the conflict if possible.
    • Russian Dip: Cede Circassia to Russia, in return Russia would not intervene in the Ethiopian-Arab War.
  • Iberia: João II dies this year at the age of 71. He is succeeded by his son Henrique (Henry), who is crowned King Henrique I of Iberia. Ascending the throne at the age of 15, the young king is deeply interested in all the affairs of the empire, especially its colonies. He takes a particular interest in developing the Mêcicipi colony. Heralds are sent to all the kingdoms of Europe to spread news of the new king's coronation -- long live the king! Emboldened by the diminishing French presence in the Caribbean, Iberia claims the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Inagua Islands. Iberian privateers seize a small pirate haunt at OTL Cockburn Town and transform it into a permanent settlement. The islands are mostly used for salt production. The statesman Tello de Briones signs the Treaty of Naples on behalf of the king, but the Italian League is pressured to cede San Gennaro and Santa Croce to Iberia. After narrowly avoiding Swahili patrols, 18,000 troops are quietly landed on a hidden part of the Rozwi coast. From there, they attack the Swahili-occupied Rozwi coast in unison with the Rozwi forces, supported by a fleet of 70 ships (this happens only if Rozwi supports with their army). 500 troops and numerous Iberian settlers capture the remaining Qamarid settlements on Santa Apolónia (OTL Réunion) and build a fort on the island. Jacó do Sequeira, famed for his exploits in India, leads an assault Mombasa with 61 ships, 12,000 troops, and about 3,000 mercenaries. Iberia's "patrol" fleet in East Africa numbers 87 ships. Traders and explorers form a trading post at Ziguinchor. Training of the grenadiers and development of modern ships of the line resumes. Fur traders build trading posts up the Mississippi and Missouri, expanding the Mêcicipi colony upriver. Maranhão expands into the OTL states of Maranhão and Piauí as more of the interior is colonized.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Sultan Jalil begin to invest in reconstructing his fleet after it was stolen by the Italians. Rumors are still around that the succession could cause frictions between the Sultan and his son. Many in the population believe that the current problems of the island are due to the openess of the island, while other believe the conservative attitude of the Sultan is only making things worst. Sultan Jalil is attempting to zap the popularity of Farid and paint him as a conspirator of the Italians, with little success.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: The colonies enter a second year of conflict with French colonise. In an attempt to scale up the war 100 ships of the Royal Navy are sent out to act as privateers seizing all french flagged cargo ships obviously avoiding enemy war fleets or anything the privateers can't handle. 80 of the ships remain in the Atlantic going after transatlantic trade while 20 ships dock at New Canterbury and hit any french shipping trying to go past the cape. This is designed to affect french commerce. Additionally 50 ships and another 10,000 professional troops are sent from Britain to the Americas to support the fighting. 50 British and 50 Burgundian ships blockade Borniquen (Puerto Rico) tightly stopping food and troops from entering or leaving making it only a matter of time before the large french troop presence starts to suffer from lack of food. A task force of 100 ships supported by 40,000 troops we sail down to OTL Fortaleza and attack it with these 40,000 troops. After that we dig in at Fortaleza. The newly arrived forces from Britain and Burgundy are stationed in Avalon for this year.
    • Swedish Fleet 50 Swedish frigates move towards Puerto Rico Carrying a letter stating their nations non aggression pact and another stating the Scandinavian ownership over the Island they are told to vacate the blockade or they will villianzied for brutally attacking a neutral nation that they had a non aggression pact with.
    • British dip: Look we were here before this sale and we aren't moving. Scandinavian ships are free to move provided we can verify there is no contraband on board them. Your hosting french soldiers on your lands so yeah you violate your neutrality in this conflict so until such time as there are no french soldiers on the island this island is under a search cordon. Your ships can fire first on ours if they so wish.
    • Sacandi Dip: Let the solders go If they drop their weapons let them go to Brazil.
    • British dip: No these are french soldiers, they need to surrender. The fact they're going to Brazil shows they will be re armed there.
    • Scandi dip: Fine what if they stay here and settle.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: another 10,000 men are sent to help with the war in the colonies. Some 100 ships are sent out on privateering missions in the Atlantic against French shipping. In Ceylon, the Burgundian East India Company has a joint exersize between the Ceylonese Colonial Guard, and a 20,000 man detachment of the Acehnese-Sumatran, as the organizations are expected to cooperate should one or the other be needed in another theater. Some 70 ships are also stationed in the area for anti-French operations. An envoy is sent to the Papal States, saying that the Bishops of Metz and Verdun will be permitted seats in the Burgundian States-General if their lands two are incorporated into Burgundy (Papal response pls).

  • Jaffarid Arabia: We begin this year by declining the offer that Russia had offered, saying that Circassia is a valuable asset to Arabia. We make a final push for our troops into Ethiopia, and are able to, for the most part, occupy the Sinai and some of eastern Ethiopia, albeit not that much. Patriotism slowly dwindles down, with many blaming Sultan Umar for their current situation with Ethiopia and numerous other Christian nations. Small christian protests begin in Damascus and Baghdad, but remain primarily peaceful for the time being.

  • Russia: The lack of Winter uniforms in the Caucasus leads to General Nikita Petrovich abandoning the region, and returning home.
