The Ming Dynasty still rules over the vast lands of China. On the other side of the world, the Hundred Years War continues between England and France. Europe is still stuck in the old ways of feudalism and chivalry while the notions of a New World are considered figments of imagination.

We welcome you to the long-awaited fourth expansion of that immortal series. Welcome to Principia Moderni IV! Starting in 1400 AD, this is the dawn of the modern world and the tail end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance is just kicking off in Europe, while the nations in the western side of the continent are locked in the last gasp of the Hundred Years War. The Muslim world is still reeling from the invasions of Turks and Mongols, with the Caliphate resting in the collapsing Mamluk Egypt and the Ottomans on the rise in Anatolia. Make it count.

The first game was the most successful on the wiki, leading all the way to the modern day with mostly plausible posts and little controversy. The second game reached almost to the modern day, but failed due to a plethora of ASB events and moderator bias. The third game was much more worthy of the first, almost running into implausibility but climbing back into a shining glory by the end. Riding on the latest reforms of map games since the end of PMIII, this is the most logical next step in that evolution. Remember above all other rules — have fun.

Plausibility Strikes

Three strikes and you're out! Each strike resets after 30 years of the most recent strike.

  • Adolf Coffee - II (1745)
  • Jackson - I (1743)
  • Austria - II (1755)
  • Drake - I (1755)

Moderator Strikes

These are strikes for moderators and how they moderate. The same three strikes rules apply. If a moderator is banned from moderating, however, they can still play as their nation. Mod strikes can be delivered in one of three ways:

  1. If a sufficient number of players (more than half of all players voting) vote to give a moderator a strike.
  2. If I, Scraw, give them a strike.
  3. If a majority of all mods (i.e., more than half of the total number of mods, excluding that moderator) vote to give a moderator a strike.

Moderators can be given strikes for the following reasons:

  1. Exhibiting bias that would benefit the nation they are playing.
  2. Exhibiting bias that would negatively affect a player they have a personal dispute with.
  3. Making a ruling that contradicts a proven fact from OTL or an established fact from earlier in the game.
  4. Overruling a decision of a majority of moderators.

Another day another giant woolly rat SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:00, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

The Yonglu continue to be inspired by their northern neighbour's technological advancements so they begin fortifying their border with the Uluru while organizing their growing nation.

A prominent Ququququ councilman claims to have visions of a giant woolly rat army conquering the world under his command.

The Italian military cannot withstand the Belkan onslaught. There are large scale surrenders and desertion. One bold general decides to burn the country in his retreat and issues orders to attack the Belkan armies with fire. He orders complete scorced earth tactics to delay the invasion as much as possible.

The Holy Roman Emperor kills himself in disgrace. This means it is time to elect a new one.

Meanwhile in the Rhineland, a great number of the states in the Rhenish Conference proclaim the Independent League of Rhine States (Rhenish League) under the leadership of Conference Chancellor Joachim Engelbert. Engelbert reaches out to Burgundy and invites them to leave the suzerainty of the HRE as well and make an alliance.

In Bremen, the people reject Sven's nonsense compromise. There are no Kappelists to make any difference, the entirety of the population is basically Catholic.

The Zulu Civil war continues on with the Pro-Swahili Claimant to the throne self proclaimed king Ayize facing off in an extremely brutal but indecisive battle with Bakla. Nearly 30,000 are dead between both sides. This can be attributed to the lack of prisoners being taken in the battle. Both sides quickly return to their respective staging areas to nurse their wounds.

  • Salish Nation: We arm our warriors with guns, from Mzerka. With this new power, we attack the tribes to our South, placing them under our rule. We encounter a problem, as these tribes are too distant to effectively administer. The tribes join us however, as we are the most powerful force in the area. In order to solidify our rule, we send missionaries, along with having the other tribe's children live with us for 5 years so that they are solified into our culture.
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy:We want to notify you that we haven't given your nation at any point of our friendly relations
  • Belkan Federation: With the collapse of Italian resistance in the face of Belkas armies, some of the further operations are cancelled and the main armies sent into middle italy and Sicily occupy the region and more or less agree that occupation in the long term is not a sustainable goal and that a more sustainable situation should be established in Italy. with so much land coming under the Scorched Earth policy smaller armies of about 30-50,000 pursue into the Italian Interior securing regions which are not destroyed and lightly observing the regions which were burned in the Retreat. This becomes a rather sobering moment for many of the Belkan troops entering into the League as the Scorched earth has led to many people who are starving, dieing, or already dead when the armies reach them. All of the major cities are quickly occupied and envoys are sent to the Papa state. A treaty is to be fleshed out between the Papacy and the Belkans on the fate of the Italian league being the only reliably stable Italian nation. The full occupation of the League leads to a large force of roughly 150,000 dubbed the "Belkan Italian Army" which take up positions around Italy and Sicily for the duration of the occupation as the Papal state is brought into the treaty negotiations. With the Budget now not allowing and all seized supplies burned through or starting to fall short, the Belkan army is drawn back significantly. With nearly 450,000 troops in Excess the Belkan army dismisses all these men back to their homes and gives them a relatively large pension to build their lives off of and requires these men on said condition that they are to be the first troops to be called up from the reserves in the cases of further Belkan wars. The standing army of Belka at current troop strength is a much more manageable 500,000 and much of the excess military arms are sold to new clients in Austria, Bavaria, Greece (anatolia) and Czechia. The home economy and culture is very positive on the war however the horrors are also brought back and some unpopularity arises due to news sources criticizing the Vozdh who takes no responsibility for the war dead however small the number may be. The home culture adopts many of the Russian instruments and musical styles continuing to innovate the music style in a belkan fashion. Another planned force of roughly 100,000 split off as the Central German Expedition is prepared and sent to the now fully rebuilt Prague and prepared a campaign to move well into Central Germany and secure more of the now increasingly likelihood of these nations becomming "former" HRE states. Tunis is also fully occupied and the Italian government in the city is phased out. In Slovenia the Slovenes of Austria are fully integrated into Belka with historical Slovenia being incorporated into the Federation as a result of the concordat signed as a trade of Slovenia for Trento back to Austria.
    • Czech Federation: The Czech Federation officially holds its first elections, bringing Milan Capec as the Vozdh of Czechia he implements many of the liberal reforms that are observed in Belka including theoretically freedom of Press but due to the hostility in the air this is dubious and almost unobserved. The People finally being free from Germany dominion seem unawares that Milan acts with directions from Belgrad however this is not an issue as a sense of revenge takes hold and a predominant view around the country taking hold is that the Holy Roman Empire has held back the Czechs for far to long. A census is conducted to learn more about the countries demographics and also bring about a higher level of conscription ability. This brings nearly 600,000 men to bear as conscripts and orders are placed to Belka to provide arms for all 600,000 men, however as of right now only 150,000 are raised at part of the Czech Home army which will remain as the Guards over the northern borders of the alliance
    • Kingdom of Austria: The new Austrian Army  a Belkan supported force of 50,000 is raised out of the Austrian population of roughly 5 million to act as garrisons but gains notoriety in its professional and disciplined attitude in the seizure of Trento which becomes ostensibly part of Austria who reincorporate the city, wrongfully released away decades ago. Borislav now acting as the constitutionally limited king seeks help from his Cousin Petar in implementing a Pro Belka Policy in Austria and in surprise to placate the nobility a claim to Trento on the Italian league is backed if only for the placation benefits.
    • Kingdom of Bavaria: King Von-Staufenberg continues building Bavaria up independently heavily purporting Bavarian culture but now with some territory within the Rhineland League is curious on what to do with it but more or less gives it general autonomy for the time being as the king attempts to establish a local economy. The Bavarians officially begin a withdrawl from the HRE and gravitate towards more open european politics. They also handily begin raising almost 100,000 troops but this year only 50,000 are ready with the the Demand exceeding supply on the Belkan side. The Bavarian King however does seem some logic in giving up the extent territories due to his lack of experience in ruling far away territories and their proximity to the newly developing League of the Rhine. He defers to Belkan judgement which advises the releasing of the territories in the next year as the Grand Duchy of Swabia.
    • Greek Confederation: The Greek confederation continues to occupy new territories within the recently conquered lands in the west of rum. many in the west were already orthodox or greek and are handily integrated. Garrisons up to Ankara are however much harder to deal with but the Greek Forces are able to defeat the marginal resistiance and begin their own wave of oppression on the Turks as they begin to exploit, occupy, and settle the newly taken territory.
    • Viceroyalty of Tunis: Under the newly appointed governor of Vladislav Turnikov, the viceroyalty of Tunis is created with Belkans residing in Tunis having all the rights and permissions guarenteed to them by the constitution. The city being one of barely 50,000 is something that is scoffed at by the Belkan marines which are an expanded force from the navy in order to keep governance of the city. While the military is technically to act as the police, the Belkan viceroy issues his first orders which outline how the city is to be run. The property of the people is generally to be respected and compensated if they are to be relocated. The Tunisians will be granted their own police forces. The Tunisians will not be subjected to any cruel or unusual Punishment. The new establishment however does go out of its way to turn Tunis into a potentially profitable colony specifically by connecting the city into major trade routes for slaves, african and middle eastern trade goods, and also the market for Belkan goods to flow this direction as well. Surprisingly this year multiple groups of opportunistic traders take residence along the coast forming the North Africa Trade Company which puts roughly 150 Belkans in Tunis permanently having settled.
    • Papal Dip: The Papal States are open to the negotiations, and open up the borders to allow the Belkans to attack Italy from all sides.
    • Many sides, many sides.
  • Scandinavian Empire: King Eric, passed away from a heart attack his grandson Alexander II succeeds the throne, a tall handsome man Alexander was more of a scholar then warrior he commishned a Royal College to be built in Riksdale, He also sends 2,000 men to "help" the relocation of the Catholics in Bremen to Aracdia.
  • Riviere D'Argent:  Santeria continues to grow in popularity as well as mesquite populations. Horatio Duvalier creates the first "House of Santeria" which acts as a clerical and supervising body for the religion, in New Marseille. He quickly gains a following as he performs magic acts, spells, and rituals. Duvalier quickly gains influence and joins the New World Congress. Catholics continue their war on Santeria as they believe it is heresy and attempt missionary work with much resistance. A branch of Santeria, mainly adhered to by african immigrants and al maqadas berbers known as Voodoo becomes more popular in the south of the viceroyalty. The Voodoo practicioners are much more volatile to outsiders and become more of an ethnic religion than a universalizing religion. Hans Amen, a charismatic uruguayan, gains a following as he proclaims that "new technologies have brought sin" and that people must return to pre-medieval ways of life in order to be saved during the apparently imminent second coming of christ. His beliefs are viewed as utterly insane by most, but he gains a small and devoted following. Viceroy Hugo Martin begins implementing a series of measures to keep down resistance. This involves stating police battalions in every neighborhood, increasing surveillance, and making more arrests.
    • Papal Dip: The roaming court of the Holy Inquisition makes its way to Riviere D'Argent, and after making a thorough investigation of 'Santeria', delivers a judgment: Whilst taking part in traditional customs and rites is permitted per the 1682 encyclical Plane Compertum, it would appear that Santeria, in its present form, goes beyond that, and is suspect of heresy. The creation of a separate 'clerical and supervising body' indicates that the Santerians consider themselves not part of the Catholic Church, and thus ipso facto schismatics. The Court advises the local Catholic authorities to promote authentic Catholic forms of inculturation of traditional practices in order to compete with the Santeria. The Court also delivers a judgment on Hans Amen, declaring that whilse his teaching that new technologies have brought sin is not incorrectl, the conclusions he draws from that fact are heretical and unworthy of belief.
  • Empire of Uluru: Art and music continue to be developed across Anangu, first developed in Ngarridjeri and spread to the court nobility in the tributary states. The central library at Ngarridjeri has the complete collection of literature produced in Anangu thus far. The Moornoon class of clerics continue to be trained at Uluru and spread across southern Anangu. Economy continues to grow with more farmlands spread and more ships for fishing created. Kangaroo Island is fully annexed as a province of the Empire, placing a local Bakhan to rule it. The central banking system regulates the spread of Taro in the nation, and the wealthiest taro-owners emerge. The wives and concubines help to raise the sons of Yannathan at Ngarrindjeri. The Yolgnu continues, as the troops under Dickadick's command occupies the lands of Yolgnu in the north as far as the coast. They now circle back to begin besiging the cities along the border to the hinterlands.
  • Cologne: After a long three years of war, Archbishop Ludwich is devastated. The Holy Roman Empire is in ruins, and his Imperial Synod (which he was Archbishop-Patriarch of) has been decimated at the very least. He hopes that potentially one day the peoples of wider German lands will begin to listen to him again; in the meantime, he has nothing to do but work with the ashes of what is left. The consolidation of the Rhineland League and the leadership of Joachim Englebert is met with much joy and much trepidation. Cologne and Essen, as already part of the Rhineland League, make it clear that they are joining. Furthermore, Archbishop Ludwich sets the University of Cologne to work on a potential Constitution for the Rhineland League. The general feeling amongst these small states is that, even after the ruin of the HRE, this might be a more effective system: if every state has a vote, rather than just the electors, it will be fairer in general. As the University of Cologne works on this solution, Archbishop Ludwich attends the Conference meetings, on the Council of the Rhineland League, and is one of the few attendees who is able to calmly make sense of this situation they find themselves in. He also invites Englebert to involve himself in the potential makings of a Constitution in the University of Cologne, along with any other relevant stakeholders.
    • Essen: Adelphinian Canonesses are horrified by what has happened in the war with Belka, but pray day and night for all the lost souls of the brave Kolsch and Essenian men who died in battle. The people of Essen and Cologne remain wary of Belkan influence, and the people of Essen continue to mine as well as they can given the lack of manpower. Some canonesses even find themselves assisting with the flow of the trading system. Canonesses continue to attend any and all congresses in Arcadia, and continue to look at these systems with their philosophical perspectives learnt from the University of Cologne. The councils in New Netherlands, New Germany, Tondo and Essen are now fully functional. Meanwhile in Tondo, a bastard, orphan, son of a Tagalog woman and a German man joins the Order of St Adelphina with aspirations to become a priest. He is particularly good at numbers and accounting, but also very keen to learn of all this philosophy coming from the University of Cologne and the University of New Essen in Arcadia. Aleksander Zimmerman. His name is Aleksander Zimmerman. And there’s a million things he hasn’t done, but just you wait. Just you wait.
  • Jin dynasty: Using the roads of the Great Khanate, five hundred dignitaries (mainly scholar-officials) travelling via horse are sent to tour Europe for a year, and to represent the Emperor. These emissaries are sent to Vasiligrad in Belka first, then to various locations in the Papal States, before finally ending up in Iberia. The dignitaries are instructed to transcribe and study the cultures of Europe in order to enrich the knowledge of the West and add the texts to the Chinese imperial libraries. Many Western scientific texts are circulated due to Jesuit missionaries. This intrigues many scholar-officials, who begin evaluating their own knowledge of science and alchemy. However, such knowledge is not incorporated into the national curriculum and imperial studies/examination, the bulk of which is the study of Chinese philosophy, history, and the principles of law. Science and alchemy are often downplayed, as the focus begins to shift to mass-producing and distributing already-existing technologies. Rule in the Mongolia Commandery is stabilized, and a ruling class of sinicized defectors is made. Missionary activities are undertaken by the Holiest Procurator of the Heavenly Teachings (or otherwise known as the Eastern-rite Church) in Southeast Asia. There are talks within the Eastern-rite Church to merge with the Catholic Church under the basis of promoting and further their missionary activities. However, there is a problem; the Church's rejection of the Trinity (in-favour of unitarianism) and thus affecting the divinity of Jesus Christ, usage of and reference to Confucian texts and rites, Confucius' status as a divine messenger, and most importantly, the interpretation of God as a impersonal monistic absolute principle (rather than a deity) and "Heaven" being described as a state of enlightenment and unity to "God" following self-cultivation or contemplation. Due to these heresies, many dismiss the plausibility of the Catholic Church accepting to candidacy. Furthermore, the Emperor, whom himself is a member of the Church is against this, though he has no official say in the Church's policy due to the policy of secularism. The policy of militarization continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments and other military-related objects being built. Due to the increasing size of industrial facilities, living quarters are built to accommodate the increasing pool of labourers. Meanwhile, many chaebol begin enacting various limits to the amount of labourers to avoid their minimizing their profit due to paying wages. Basic sanitation continues to be promoted: public bathhouses, spas, latrines, and sewage systems are all built. Adequate irrigation alongside other projections such as mass distribution of pluviometres and water gauges create an increase in the productivity of agriculture. To facilitate transportation and growing merchantile acitvities, paved roads are built. Commercialization and the division of labour continues, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods from both the domestic and foreign market. Noticing the increasing usage of arable land, the Emperor begins allowing the importation of agricultural goods from its European trading partners.
    • Nivkh Commandery: Tiger Pastries Inc., a subsidiary of Lady Lin Tea, continues to flourish as a business. The Nivkh Prince-Governor (which is the member of the Nivkh Ayzik branch of the House of Kim) continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
    • Sakha (protectorate): The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively. Siberian crab-apples become a local renowned fruit, and is particularly prized in Korea and northern China.
    • Xizang (protectorate): Lhasa, the capital, is expanded and modernized. The Tibetan clergy continues to administer the protectorate, with its leader, the Dalai Lama, being considered a vassal or substitute monarch. Many Tibetans are encouraged (via financial incentives) to become more sedentary, with food instead being supplied from nearby Sichuan (thereby reducing overreliance in inefficient herding).
    • Port of Nangang: The Emperor decides send more emissaries to the Angu peoples and peripheral tribes in Haegajang in-order to enrich the knowledge of their culture, while sends more colonists to cement the colony of Nangang from any tribal intrusions. Mixed-racial children continue to be orphaned and sent to the Angu.
    • North Mongolia: Yurt is populated with 5,000 residents, out of the total of 90,000 residents.
    • Papal Dip: A number of Immaculata [ATL Jesuit] priests, who have studied Chinese culture and religion, write to the Holiest Procurator expressing their willingness to help bring the Eastern-rite Church closer in line -theologically speaking- to the other Christian denominations.
  • Papal States: Many in the States are glad to see Italy being pummeled by Belka. In the middle of the year, most of the delegates for the Parlamento have been selected, and so the Pope officially opens its first session. The first motion passed by the assembly is to allow the Bishops to send 'Parliamentary Vicars' (who must be clerics) to represent them in the Parlamento, allowing them to remain in their dioceses. Secondly, the members discuss the Belkan invasion of Italy. Whilst many are in favour of invading Italy, others point to the dishonour involved in breaking a treaty, as well as the current sorry state of the Papal army and finances. as reasons for not etting involved. Eventually the sides come to a copromise, and advise the Pope to open the Papal borders to Belkan troops. The Pope accepts the advice, and makes it so. In other news, the Pope receives the request from Hawaii, and grants the King's request. The Apostolic Prefecture of Hawaii and Polynesia shall be subject to the Bishop of Edo, Giapan (as that is the closest established Catholic authority), and shall have Kawaiaha'o Church as its Prefectural Seat. The newly-appointed Prefect Apostolic, a member of the Immaculata Order, is sent to Hawaii, and instructed to take some Japanese priests with him to solidify the Mission. He takes with him a gilt crown for the King, as a personal gift from His Holiness.
  • The Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:Our country is still unable to find a King for the moment ,So we ask Again all western powers If they want one of their royals to become king of our Kingdom (PLAYERS RESPONSES).With the unability to find A king some in the National congres look to the option of a Elective Monarchy. We also Send ambasadors to Iberia and the Vatican to look if they can help us get a good king who will aid our country (Vatican and Iberian Response). Our sheep farmers keep breeding more sheep for clothing so much so that woolen clothing is becoming the most getable clothing
    • Kingdom of Bremen: Olaf offers to go to Mzerka and seek out the Kingship
    • Iberian Diplomacy: In an attempt to sway the politics of Mzerka, Iberia supports a mixed-race Mzerkan and member of the national congress named João Manuel as a candidate for the Mzerkan throne. Despite his relative unimportance, João Manuel's legitimacy is strengthened by his Iberian blood and education in Nova Galiza. He also claims descent from one of Mzerka's oldest noble families (although this might be a fabrication). The lack of other suitable candidates, however, propels João Manuel to prominence.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Acceptance of religion continues.
    • Eastern Rum: Sultan Kazak continues to urbanize Eastern Rum, with the capital of Erzerum becoming the location of diplomatic meetings and other goods.
      • Sidenote: Busy. Not enough time.
  • Iberia: Seeing the Italian League weakened by the Belkan invasion and unable to protect its dependencies, Iberia seizes the opportunity to retake Sardinia and reestablish a sphere of influence in the Mediterranean Sea. A force of 10,000 troops supported by 30 ships invade the island, meeting an army of about 3,000 Sardinians outside Cagliari. The Sardinians perform poorly in battle due to low morale, having already endured an Italian invasion a decade before. Their army is decisively defeated with few casualties to either side, as many Sardinians either surrender or desert the ranks rather than continue to fight. The Iberian army marches into Cagliari unopposed, receiving the surrender of the city and the kingdom. The Sardinian populace, however, having greater determination than the puppet government, threaten to rise up in revolt if the island is annexed, and so it is given autonomy as a vassal. Five regiments from the expeditionary force are offered in service to the Papal Army for the next five years. With Russian settlement in Alaska evident, there is a renewed effort to colonize Alta Califórnia. Gavriel de Villafrecha assembles an expedition of nearly 200 men, commanded by Luys de Avalos, Sérgio Neves, and Hortun de la Cerda (veteran of the Alaska expedition), to explore and settle Alta Califórnia, and establish a settlement at Indian Bay. The expedition is divided into several sea and land-based groups, which in total include four galleons and their crews; a company of infantry from Iberia; a company of cavalry; numerous missionaries, settlers, and other "civilians"; a cartographer; a surgeon; and about 30 Indian interpreters. All groups converge on Santo António (San Diego) early in the year, and build a defensible stockade around the site of the former mission and colony. Unexpectedly, there is no conflict with the Kumeyaay Indians, who are perhaps pacified by the presence of Iberian troops. After the main expedition departs, the new Santo António mission is founded by Franciscan missionaries. One ship that was damaged on the voyage is left in Santo António. The expedition travels up the coast, visiting the Los Angeles River, which is claimed as part of the Alta Califórnia colony. Monterrey Bay is rediscovered, and the old settlement is now aged after its abandonment 17 years ago. Although the explorers merely visit, a place is marked for future settlement on higher, firmer ground overlooking the bay. In October, the expedition finally reaches Indian Bay. Sérgio Neves conducts trade with the Mzerka and other natives, discovering the existing Mzerkan settlement on the tip of the bay. Luys de Avalos names the Mzerka-inhabited area Alacant after a place in Valencia. The area where the Iberians landed is named São Francisco by the Franciscans. Some missionaries remain with the Mzerka to found a mission at Alacant, while the other groups return to Santo António. Overall, the expedition is successful in extensively charting the coast, bays, and overland routes of Califórnia, and restoring Santo António. The coast of Califórnia up to Mzerka territory is claimed for Iberia. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues.
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy:We just want to let you know that OTL San Fran has my capital city on it and that the whole bay is actualy under my our countrol
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Although sicker and sicker, Sultan Kamil is able to introduce the first part of his new code of laws. Copies of it are sent to all cities of the island, and some are also stored into the Great Library of Nicosia. Although incomplete so far, it still make justice more fair for the general population and should allow a little more freedom for the population. Due to his health problems, many suggest to Kamil that he should name a Grand Vizier to help him in his tasks, but so far the Sultan refused, citing the problems caused by the power of the last Grand Vizier, Rafeed Mu'sad Sarraf.
  • Pueblo Confederacy: Minor wars break out with the Apache tribes. A monastery is established in the southern rocky mountains to combat heresy. The pueblo of Isleta is surprise attacked by the Comanche. The Comanche disregard their earlier treaty (OOC There is no way the Comanche would stop raiding the Pueblo for more than twenty years). Our armed forces are mustered and a force of 8,000 is mustered at the Comanche border and we request the Iberian aid in our war with the Comanche. Additionally we ask for our own Cardinal.
  • Ququququ: The Koito reform continues and as the Ququququ nation is finally stable enough, the outlying tribes are contacted in order to induce them into the Union. (basically, slow map expansion, approved by Feud). The Japanese contact continues, and Ququququ continue adopting children born of interracial relations in the Jin port, in order to avoid the infanticide. With a solidified rule the Ququququ are now a most formidable force in the region, with infrastructural advancement putting them on a higher level than any other tribes, as well as their linguistic unity. Moreover, the Ququququ slowly organize their military and begin creating better weapons compared to their non-organized neighbours, using metals such as iron, with guidance of the Nangang emissaries. As the nation is much more stable right now, the Ququququ begin outreaching to more tribes, preparing their next step of expansion as the Council notices the Japanese and Jin superiority compared to Ququququ, so they understand that they too must expand in order to develop.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: claimed territory in New Germany is settled. Patagonië expands 50px north along the coast. Guyana expands 50px inland. King Frederik passes away this year, and his succeeded by his son, Rogier vun Brandenburg-Bourgogne, who take the name Rogier I. In response to the message from the Rhineland League, King Rogier decides to agree. Burgundy withdraws from the Holy Roman Empire and ally's with the Rhineland League. He sends his brother, Karel who was overall commander of the Burgundian armies in the last French war, to help with training and modernizing League armies that require it.
  • Hawaii: The representative from the Papal States is received this year and oversees the finishing touches on the nation's new church. In general Christianization increases all across the islands. Colonization and settlement of the southern islands and Marshall Islands continues.
  • Russia: Erik Zhilov plays at Tsaritsyn, which in spires a group of teens to form what they call, Luzhayka. The band however needed a second guitar. They would find Dzheff Bek who's guitar playing goes well with the singer Dzhim Makkarti's slide guitar/flute playing. The group begins to produce many songs like "I'm a Man", "Shapes of Things", and "Heart Full of Soul." Novortuhenia and Tuvov are expanded down the coasts. Captain Gorbachev sails down and for evidence, plants a Russian flag in a narrow inlet (OTL Bodega Bay California) to demonstrate Russian capability. Captain Gorbachev enters Indian Bay and trades with the natives for supplies on the way back. Gorbachev makes it back to Fort Resnov. From missions into the interior of Alyeksa and conversations to Orthodox Christianity, the Alyeska Regional Governor offers the native tribes in the Aleut region of the Aleut Peninsula equal representation in local politics, and equal rights, in return joining Russia (Mod Response).
    • Cilicia: (Never declared its independence offically). Russian soldiers continue to train the army. Kebab Removal continues.

A Yonglu priest somehow stumbles on Christianity, declares himself a Cardinal and sends an owl to the Pope requesting confirmation of his Cardinal status (no he doesn't, this is a joke, just like some requests to suddenly gain a lot of theocratic power via priests)

The Woolly Rat Councilman begins capturing wolly rats around Mount Bosavi and breeding them.

The Bishop of Bremen, Karl Marx "the Grouch", leads the people of the city on a march to the house where King Sven is living. They demand that he surrender the crown and leave Bremen or they will kill him. The people of Bremen are prepared to lay siege to the palace.

In Scandinavia, Haroldson advises the king to send him to Bremen where he can deal with the problems, as he is a Catholic and can connect with the Catholics.

The new Caliph in Cairo asks the Jaffarid Sultanate to transfer control of the Two Holy Cities to the Caliphate in the name of Islam.

  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Sultan Tahir is reluctant at the moment to transfer control of the Two Holy Cities to the Caliphate, but comes around in the later part of the year and officially transfers control of the Two Holy Cities to the Ecumenical Rashidun Caliphate in the name of Islam. Literature becomes overly focused on Belka for some odd reason, possibly due to them occupying Western Rum and numerous rumors going around about them essentially "defeating" Europe. Possibly more later.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Viceroy Hugo Martin continues to crack down on Santeria and the new world congress. During a house bust by the police, Francis Bolivique was almost killed and forced to flee the country. Francis seeks refuge in Belka (Belkan Response). This greatly angers many revolutionaries and republicans who begin protesting in the streets and form revolutionary militias to protect their towns from the french police. Horatio Duvalier, head of the House of Santeria, publicly denounces the colonial government but he is not attacked due to his high status and influence. Cornelio Savadefq cuts off contact with Hugo Martin and his spies and retreats into the jungle where he raises an army. This army and other revolutionary republican armies become known as Guérilleros and quickly gain support native peoples in the jungle. Jean St. Martin, Hugo Martin's brother in law, begins criticising Hugo's ways of governing and wants to liberalize the colony. Jean St. Martin quickly gains popularity as Hugo's popularity wanes due to his inefficiency.
After two years of fighting, the Yolgnu are made a vassal of the Empire, thus unifying the entire universe under the great Emperor of Heaven and Earth. After many long years of great reforms, charismatic leadership and all-around niceness, the incredibly strong and handsom emperor Yannathan dies in the arms of Elanora, his favorite wife. His body is ceremonially burned according to the customs of Tjilbruke. The former imperial harem, filled with both the concubines of Wako and Yannathan, are released from the court to be its own commercial brothel in Ngarrindjeri. Most of the Sons of Yannathan are grown now, and go on to become powerful and influential nobles in various parts of the Empire. Some, however, are still very young and fall under the tutelage of their mothers, mostly Elanora and Yackandi. According to Yannathan's will, Bambam his nephew is made the new Emperor, annointed with Ochre at the White Chaple of Uluru by the High Dreamspeaker. Dickadick, commander of the military, is made Bambam's viceroy.
  • The Kingdom of Hungary: King Zoltan Sartesi or Zoltan I begins his reign. Seeing the worrying situation with the massive Belkan empire that surrounds him, he begins taking an isolationist standpoint and begins closing off hungarian borders and increasing the military and police force. Istvan Rigo, a revolutionary inspired by Belkan republicanism, starts the Hungarian revolution movement. He gathers several aristocrats to make up the leadership of his "Free Hungary" and creates a peasant army in the mountains of Hungary that basically act as bandits. Zoltan I begins taking control of the church and aristocracy and consolidating his power. More guns and gunpowder are produced and many more soldiers are conscripted to build the army. Zoltan I also begins building various cities and encouraging people to settle there as opposed to being farms.
    • Belan Dip: We offer Hungary a pact of non aggression on the basis that the Belkas have no issue with Hungary and the fact Hungaries current independence can be more or less attributed to the Belkan invasion of Austria.
      • Hungary: The King, fearing Belkan influence, agrees to the non-aggression pact in exchange that no belkans or belkan propaganda enter his country.
  • Dravidia: The sericulture industry is established around Mysore with technological improvements coming from Bengal. Implementation of Chinese technology improves sugar production while French technology is adopted in carpentry and smithy. State factories are established for the production of firearms, cannons and gunpowder. Dravidia wishes to establish state trading depots in Arabia, Swahili, Gujarat, Malaya, Java and Sumatra. (PLAYER RESPONSE). The state monopolizes the mining of gold, silver and other precious metals. The textile, shipbuilding and steel industries develop and are provided incentives by the state. Manufacturing industries grow as many manufactories and workshops are established in the cities. The three-field crop rotation system spreads to the Deccan areas and the entirety of the West coast, coupled with an increased use of the Malindi plow, increases food production and more people start moving to the cities to get employed in workshops set up by master artisans. The growth of the shipbuilding industry coupled with the clearance of forests has led to an increased use of lignite and coal as a fuel source. Catholic missionary activity continues and the missonaries are especially active in converting tribal people and people in other isolated areas, while the people in the lower strata of Hindu society convert readily. Catholic missionary activity is camouflaged by the revival of Dravidian folk religion and intense mixing of Dravidian-Hindu religious ideas. The Gurukula system spreads and Gurukulas are established. There is an increase in employment in dairy and poultry farming. The Dravidian cuisine has combined the similarities of the different cuisines with an increased consumption of poultry and dairy products. The Chettinad cuisine remains untouched.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:The National Congres creates in our Capital city of Lucentum a Iberians quarter where Iberians can live and bring their culture, way of life and technology to Our people. These Iberians are excempt of taxation if they live in these areas OTL Mission discrict. With the Return of Iberian contact even more priests Convert back to catholicism and they ask for the popes forgiveness for their deeds(Papal response). The sheepfarmers with now enough sheep and with the ageing of old sheep make a dish where a big part of sheep meat is put on a skewer and then backed while being rotated. The national Congres of the Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot had a vote on wether to change to a elective constitual monarchy or to keep staying a autotarian heritary monarchy,The votes were 79 votes for the autotarian heritary monarchy and 146 votes for the Elective constituanal Monarchy. So they adapt the Elective Constitional Monarchy. As way to rule the country.
    • Papal Dip: The Papal Nuncio to Western Arcadia willingly accepts the apologies of the reverted priests, and after admonishing them, sends them on their way. A young permanent Deacon, Matteo Orsini, son of a Roman count, offers himself as a candidate for the Mzerkan crown. He is married to a Mzerka woman (he married before his ordination as a deacon).
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy:We will accept Matteo Orsini's candidature to become king if he accepts the the limitations placed upon Mzerkan Kingship like:Not being able to veto any laws into existence, having to step down from from all other political offices and roles, that kingship cannot not be passed to his other generations and that after his death or resignment a new king will be elected for the country. He will be able to Control the whole army during war and the ability to send catholics missionaries
  • Papal States: Noting the increase in the numbers of nations with their own cardinals, and noting the need for the traditional cardinal nations to retain their seats, Pope Innocent IX makes the decision to add four places to the current College, which, including the seat for the Copts, brings the number of cardinals to 21, and thus raises the requisite number of votes to be elected to 11. The Pope makes these changes official in a bull, Cardinalibus Novus. To fill the four new places, the Pope begins by raising Karl "the Grouch" Marx to the Cardinalate, as well as the Japanese Bishop Hiroheto Shirashema of Edo (who may either reside in Rome, or choose to be represented in the conclave by a vicar of his choosing who will reside in Rome). In other news, the Belkan successes in Italy are greeted with joy. The Parlamento continues its role, and by now all the delegates have been elected or selected or deputised. Missions continue, especially in Zulu lands.
  • Scandinavia: Oskar is sent to Bremen to speak with Marx the Garrison to Oldenburg along with another 5,000 men are sent to rescue King Sven. Offering to send food and water to the mob. (mod response) In the mainland King Alexander is worried of the reports of an Uprising the land his grandfather took not 10 years ago is fighting viscously against the Kappelist Scandinavian crown. He offers to make 2 independent kingdoms a Kingdom of Bremen ruled by a Catholic (Puppet) and the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg ruled by a Kappelist (Puppet).
    • Bremen demands freedom. Oldenburg, on the other hand, is more amenable to Scandinavia. -scraw
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: The health of Kamil is failing him, and a regency council is put into place to help him govern. The Sultan died on 18 October 1771, dying at the age of 39. Although most of his reforms are left unfinished, his enlightened and reformist style of rule was somewhat popular, although some of his actions (like siding with the Turkish immigrants over locals or not helping during the famine) weren't. Still, he will be remembered more fondly than his brother Saif. Having no sons, Kamil is succeeded by his younger brother, the third son of Saif, the 33 years old Mufaddal. Sultan Mufaddal began implementing an agricultural reform to help feed the population and fix some of the problems the farmer suffered during the reign of Saif. Although good willed, many believe that his lack of experience in government could lead to the failure of such reforms.
  • Belkan Federation: Under the auspices of attempting to re-establish the Imperial monarchy and attempting to reverse many liberal reforms and re-establish absolutism with the advantages of the conscription system, Petar declares himself the Czar of all Belka and claims imperial suzerainty over all the clients of the Belkan Federation. This however does not go well as even his Personal guard is unwilling to see such a dictatorial monarchy re-established. In a quick and relatively bloodless coup Petar is removed from Power by the Military who declares their loyalties to the Republican ideals and government. General Brusilov in the confusion with the attempt of the Vozdh declares an interrim Vozdhship and seizes control himself. However being the most decorated general of the South German and Italian campaigns, Busilov is able to secure the support of the Elder Field Marshall Vasilev, and Yanevski who both agree military government will reign for a period of 6 months while a new Election is held. Brusilov in an attempt to make good with the extremely dubious Belkan congress and judiciary system agrees he will not run for Vozdh and an election takes place. The election sees the first instances of the developing political parties in Belka. The Isolationist Kamarovite Party demands a withdrawl from all the conquered Territories while the expansionist Slavicist party claims that while the militaristic expansion on the continent was somewhat fuled by the irrational anger and midirected aggression towards the German states. the Slavocist party wins roughly 65% of the votes with victorious candidate Boris Tuchevsky claiming clear victory. With so much having happened Voter turn out is huge with nearly 78% of all voting able males taking part in the election. The clear victory of the Slavicist party leads to many of their government policies being implemented quickly, specifically in regards to figuring out a more manageable situation to the effective empire the Belkan generals have built in Europe. With the referral by King Von-Staufenberg the Belkans agree with his judgement and split off the Rhenist territories into the independent Kingdom of Swabia, so as to sit on the Rhenish league without being an outside actor in Germany (even though this technically leaves Belka as the outside actor but interest is somewhat low). The interest however in turning Belka into a colonial power becomes a much more interesting prospect with the acquisition of Tunis and the offshore islands. This leads to two things, first the effective reorganization of the Greek confederations oversight committee into something more akin to a colonial government and the organization of Tunis to be recognized as a colony as well.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area. Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies. New warship designs are planned. We move around 40,000 soldiers near the Zulu conspicuously to force Bakla to divert part of his army to defend against possible Swahili invasions.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep continues development.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues the construction of a port.
    • Huriya: Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Rowzi: Mosques are constructed to help spread Islam. Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
  • Iberia: Enlightenment philosophy grows in Iberia, coinciding with the publication of the first encyclopedia, although such ideas have been in circulation since at least 1710, when João II unified the Iberian monarchy and reformed its government. In response to Russian activity on the Mzerkan coast, Iberia sends a second expedition, led by Pirro Salugarate, to more thoroughly claim the Pacific coast. He first visits Bodega Bay, landing at Porto de Salugarate (OTL Bodega Harbor), which he deems a more suitable location for a port than the inlet (Tomales Bay). He continues north, exploring the coast and inlets of Alta Califórnia and Oregon, and further charting the Bay of Vilafrecha (Bucareli Bay), where he names numerous islands, before returning to São Brás due to bad weather. Iberian naval patrols and privateers in Califórnia are ordered to capture any Russian explorers or ships near the Mzerkan coast that are encroaching on Mzerka's (and, by extension, the Iberian Empire's) sovereign territory. A fort and mission are constructed at Monterrey by Sérgio Neves, a company of soldiers, and the Franciscan friar Bonifacio Hernandes. The port of São Brás, Iberia's main naval base in the Pacific Northwest, is developed, now housing a fleet of 5 galleons. The Leti archipelago is claimed as part of the Iberian East Indies. Jacó do Sequeira, conqueror and Governor-General of Goa, dies an elderly man. His son, Jorge Sequeira, had taken over most of his duties as he grew old. However, as viceroys and governors are appointed based on merit, not inheritance, Jorge Sequeira recommends one of his close friends for appointment and enlists in the navy. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. A fort is built at OTL Boa Vista, Roraima, to protect Iberia's claims to the Rio Branco. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues. Fur traders ascend the Cumberland River and establish a trading post at OTL Nashville near a natural salt lick. Iberia supports its allies, the Choctaw, against Burgundian and British expansion in OTL Mississippi. In other news, an earthquake strikes Lisbon, causing some structural damage to the city.

The Ququququ Woolly Rat Councilman continues breeding his woolly rats, giving them names such as Qu, Ququ, Quququ and so on. He gains prominence among the Ququququ for his dedication, however many still dismiss his ideas of a rat army as absurd.

A Mzerkan baker named Abraham Philip Hupa has a vision of an Angel, warning him that the Catholic church is corrupt, because the truth of salvation was given to the Mzerkan jews ages ago. However, the Mzerkans too had forgotten about the Gospel of Jesus when they returned to their Jewish roots, so it's up to Hupa alone to revive the Christian Church.

The profession of actresses become very popular in both France and Britain.

Oskar Haroldson arrives in Bremen and promptly poisons the brothers Hardrada. He offers all of their men safe passage back to Scandinavia, which they accept. Those who refuse are defeated in battle. Haroldson is celebrated as a liberator by the people of Bremen. As the new ruler of Bremen, he proclaims Scandinavia's occupation at an end and joins the Rhenish League.

  • Pueblo Confederacy: An emphasis is placed on orthodoxy within our realm. Minor skirmishes erupt along the Comanche border. The reconstruction of Isleta continues. We implore our Iberian protectors to aid us in our war with the Comanche. Our army is 8,000 strong and consists of 40% cavalry, 10% gunpowder units and 50% foot warriors. Provisions are amassed for the oncoming campaign. Settlers push north in the Rocky Mountains. European science and technology is studied and in some cases instituted.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: 120 men are sent from the Free Company of Volunteers of Catalonia, and 80 from the Mountain Fusiliers, to quell the Comanche disturbance. They join their Pueblo allies' campaign alongside ~100 militia (unprofessional) troops.
  • Sultanat Al-Ja'fariyyah: Sultan Tahir ali Baaligh is announced dead following a Cicilian immigrant assassinating him. The House of Jaffar meet to decide his successor, in which they decide to pick Zuraara Rais AKA Iron Kilab. His first venture begins with not allowing anymore Muslim immigrants into Arabia proper, and instills that Eastern Rum take then instead. Literature becomes overly focused on Belka for some odd reason, possibly due to them occupying Western Rum and numerous rumors going around about them essentially "defeating" Europe. Acceptance of religion continues.
  • Hungary: The Free Hungarian Army continues to gather support among peasants and continues to sabotage hungarian roads. A bomb is thrown at the king's cart, but he survives. The king continues to grow paranoid and declares war on all things "modern" except for stuff in the military and transportation stuff. Enlightenment books are burned and secular establishments are took over by the church. The King officially closes his borders. Oskar Sartesi, Zoltan's brother, begins to be interested in theology and becomes a renegade monk, travelling around the world.
  • Rivier D'Argent: Hugo Martin is forced to resign due to unpopularity and is replaced by Jean St. Martin, his brother in law. Jean St. Martin creates several courts and legislatures and institutes law systems based off of traditional french laws. The courts are very prejudiced against those with non-french ancestry and doesn't really appese the revolutionaries and guerilleros. If anything, it allows the peaceful revolutionaries to gain greater support through the law systems. Jean St. Martin allows Francis Bolivique to come back from Belkas. Bolivique, having learned from serving in the Belkan military and mingling with Belkan intellectuals, becomes more experienced and recruits several lawyers to help out mesquites and natives who cannot represent themselves in court. This allows Bolivique to gain more popularity as he becomes a household name. Horatio Duvalier compromises with the colonial government and asks practicioners of Santeria to stop resisting the government for now. Jean St. Martin begins various efforts to colonize the lands between the bottom of Riviere D'Argent to the amazon rainforest. These lands are officially made the claim of France and we send out several settlers, almost filling out OTL upper Argentina.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 10px down Inlet. Novoruthenia is expanded down the Aleut Penninsula 10px. Captain Gorbachev sends a letter down to Iberian California, saying that Russia claims all territory north of the Columbia River. Of coarse to show this Fort Resnov (OTL Vancouver) is turned into the colony of Svytaoy Avraam (Saint Ambraham). The Novorossiyan Governate is formed bassing itself in Cinigrad. It soon begins a naval order of 30 ships. The government offers the Aleut tribes of south Aleut Penninsula to join the Russian Empire in return for equal rights and representation (Mod Response). (Possibly more to come)
  • Cologne: The University of Cologne, in conjunction with the Joachim Englebert, establishes the Rhineland League or Independent League of Rhine States, setting up a Constitution and Council of Rhine States in which every state receives an equal vote. This is thought to be significantly important because of the states’ previous situation as very small Holy Roman Empire states. An election for the first Rhenish Kaiser is due to be held in 1774, after a brief cooling-off period. Meanwhile Archbishop Ludwich himself is very busy keeping everyone calm after the very dramatic changes that have rocked the German peoples. Further, the Rhineland League welcomes Bremen.
    • Essen: This year, disaster strikes the Adelphinian Canonesses in Tondo. A hurricane – or typhoon, or cyclone – strikes one of the main churches and schools set up by the Canonesses. Young Aleksander Zimmerman is devastated and writes a letter to Abbess Marie of Essen with a detailed account of the hurricane and how it has affected him and the other young people living in Tondo. When Abbess Marie receives the letter, she is astounded by the generally-uneducated 15 (or 17) year old boy’s passion and way with words and offers him a place at the University of New Essen in the hopes that he will assist with the difficulties facing Tagalog peoples in Arcadia. Meanwhile, the Tagalog Canonesses start to rebuild. Zimmerman arrives at the University of New Essen by the end of the new year, and begins to study all of the things he was not yet able to study at the small school in Tondo. Meanwhile in Essen itself, the industry surrounding the mines is appropriately flowing with the help of canonesses, and Canonesses in New Arcadia continue to attend miscellaneous congresses.
  • Empire of Uluru: After the death of Yannathan, the production of new culture begins to slow, but instead much more is disceminated from Ngarrindjeri to the rest of the Empire. Music, art and literature is spread to the various vassals and tributaries to be more homogenous in the nation. The one main exception is the new vassal Yolgnu, which mixes the Anangu culture with their own, taken to be very strange and alien to travelers that far north. Emperor Bambam considers himself a great patron of infrastructure, and continues to increase more farming of arable land and and expanded fishing technology around Kangaroo Island. Dickadick, however, is concerned for the military of the nation. Currently, the standing military of the empire solely exists to enforce rule over the feudal lords over the vassalized nations in northern and central Anangu. Should the empire not expand, internal strife over the military could occur. For now, he sends the largest fishing ships northward from Yolgnu into the Arafura Sea, exploring the Wessel Islands as far as Raragala. Mathematics begins to expand much more in Ngarrindjeri, developing the first stages of geometry.
  • Papal States: With payments to the defeated Italians stopping, the government is able to spend more money on domestic issues. The military and the road network are given the bulk of the money, on the advice of the Parlamento. Deacon Matteo Orsini agrees to Mzerka's requests, and soon gains permission from his religious superior to take the Mzerkan kingship if it is offered to him. Missions continue in the New World, China, Japan, Hawaii, and the Zulu lands.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and wiyot:Matteo Orsini is offered kingship of our nation under the Royal name of Matteo Orsini Augusthino Diltwa by the national congres,They after this also Ask the papal states to recognise the ideas of Abraham Philip Hupa as Heresy.(player response). The national congres suspects that the Yurok and the Karuk tribe are aiding this heresy by giving him Weapons and trained wariors in our country to devide our country and lower the defence of our country. So the national congres demands the Yurok and Koruk to allow christian missionaries and Mzerkan Soldiers into their country to investigate this.(Mod response). The Congres hears from local reports in his region that he is killin christian priests and gearing up a small millitia of People to get the army on their side to force conversion to all christians and to expell any foreign influence. His ideas are mostly based around establishing a land for the jews and forcing the tora on everyone.
The Sultan prepares a series of programs to elevate Swahili culture, including a giant mosque in Dars As Saleem. We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
  • Sultanate of Bengal: The Indian renaissance begins signified by a group of students of the Hemgarh University who ask a simple question to themselves "Why Jizyah ?". These students, coming from poor peasant families organise themselves and debate on the topic of Jizyah and religion while keeping their discussions secret. Parts of the country are hit by a severe drought which leads to a severe famine, the worst that the people have seen in the past 30 years or so. In such a time the young radicalist Sultan, who has just been crowned Sultan after his father's death, increases the Jizyah amount feeling that a reorganization of the military and the navy is the need of the hour. The people in the rural areas protest and this also leads to communal violence which is promptly suppressed by the army. The young Sultan issues a series of decrees, reforming the army and the navy and limiting the higher posts to the nobility. He also issues a decree disallowing the raising of armies by nobles without the permission of the Sultan. An embassy is sent to China, with gifts for the Emperor, asking the Emperor of China to help in modernising the Sultanate of Bengal, in establishing a strong bureaucracy and improvement in technology to help the people of a loyal tributary state to the Chinese Empire (Candies Response Please).
    • China refuses to directly and explicitly-aid Bengal, but offers to establish preferential trading agreements (such as lowered tariffs) and provide free tuition for Bengali scholars to study Chinese law, philosophy, and politics in Chinese universities, from then they can amass resources to kickstart their own modernization.
  • Iberia: Naval patrols in Califórnia capture the Russian vessel carrying Gorbachev's message, but send it back to Alaska once the message is relayed. The Russian ship returns with a message of refusal from Gavriel de Vilafrecha, claiming Iberian sovereignty as far as the Porto de Vilafrecha (Bucareli Bay) off Prince of Wales Island. Thus, the coast between the southern tip of Baranof Island and the mouth of the Rio de São Roque (Columbia River) is clearly disputed, with both Russia and Iberia claiming sovereignty. As evidenced by Gorbachev's letter, however, any Russian claims south of the river have vanished, and indeed, Iberia has abandoned its claims north of Sitka as well, with expeditions revealing Russian settlement as far as Unalaska. Meanwhile, Pirro Salugarate explores the coast of Vancouver Island and Nootka Sound as part of another voyage, performing certain "acts of sovereignty" to claim it for Iberia. Perhaps unaware of the extent of the island and the Russian settlement across the straits, he names the west coast "São Miguel". Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Iberia offers a treaty with Burgundy to delineate the border between Iberian and Burgundian colonies in Laurentia, and resolve any territorial disputes. The treaty is to be signed in Cartagena (Treaty of Cartagena).

The Ququququ Councilman's woolly rat breeding program continues to be a success. He soon attempts to teach them how to battle. Some incidents occurr.

Aluets accept Russian rule.

Yurok and Karuk accept Mzerkan inquisition.

  • Empire of Uluru: Music, art and literature continues to spread to the various vassals and tributaries, creating a more homogenous culture. In the vassal of Yolgnu, however, the Anangu culture is mixed with their own. Emperor Bambam continues to increase more farming of arable land and and expand fishing technology around Kangaroo Island. The military is downsized, but fitted with more elite warriors under the leadership of Dickadick's closest officers. This new military, centralized under the Emperor's discretion, is depoloyed internally to keep the lords in check. More moornoons are appointed by the Deamspeakers of Uluru to administrate local faith communities. Mathematicians of Uluru and Ngarrindjeri begin taking regular obversvations of the stars, believing them to be reflections of divine forces. The primary conclusions of these astrologers is that Emperor, like the sun, is destined to rule solely over all living creatures. This year, Dickadick allies with the vassalized King of Yolgnu, on behalf of the Emperor utilizes their sailing technology to explore further north. An expedition in winter goes halfway up the Arafur Sea.
  • Pueblo Confederacy: We invade the Comanche raiding territory and advance toward their heartland with 9,300 soldiers. (in progress)
