Deshaun Dupree Holton (born October 2, 1973), known professionally as Proof, is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. During his career, he was a member of groups 5 Elementz, Funky Cowboys, Promatic, Goon Sqwad and D12. was a close friend of Jay-Z, who had been responsible for his emergence in rap and making him the main artist of Roca Fella. Proof had several accusations and lawsuits filed, and was involved in 3 near-fatal car accidents, one of them ended up making him withdraw he left the stage and the other one nearly killed him. Proof has been recovering from a serious stroke he suffered in 2022. He is currently on hiatus.
