·      EXPOSITION: Explaining territory situation, history of American colonies

  • December 8, 1765- Eli Whitney born in Westborough Massachusetts
  • May 5, 1779- Whitney dies in a farming accident.
  • November 21, 1810- Decline of slavery
  • July 11, 1820- Lawmakers prohibit the possession, sale, or purchase of human beings in Virginia, the last state in the union to do so.
  • 1826- African American men were given the right to vote
  • Reparations of South: Blacks given their own territory- part from western southern states and the rest from Indian territory. African American Territory
  • Indians forced westward- occupy all of southwestern region 3
  • The southern states merge into one large state, known as the Southern Territory. 4
  • Eventually, women start to demand the right to vote 5
  • Southern Territory declares war on Ohio
  • The rest of the northern states declare war on the Southern Territory 6
  • While American civil war is happening, foreign powers move into position in westward territories, England in northwest, France in north central 7
