The Readjuster Party, or simply Readjusters, is one of the two major political parties in the Confederate States since 1865, the other being the Dixiecrat Party. Seven of the Presidents of the Confederate States to date have been Readjusters.
History[]
It was originally known as Anti-Administration, while the Dixiecrats were known as Pro-Administration. In the beginning, the Readjusters were an "umbrella party" accommodating different political beliefs. Slavery was abolished in the Confederate States under the administration of Readjuster President David Gardiner Tyler in 1899.
After the end of the American War and the fall of the Socialist Confederacy in 1978, the party's leadership started adopting more conservative policies and isolating its more liberal members.
