The Republic of Texas is a self-proclaimed country in North America. Following the outbreak of the Second American Civil War, the Texas Nationalist Movement and the Republic of Texas militia group formally allied themselves with the American Patriotic Front in exchange for increased autonomy of the State of Texas including it's restoration as a republic. De facto U.S. President Trump was reluctant to allow complete independence since he desired for the APF and its allies to remain a part of the United States. However following Trump's assassination on 24 August 2023 and the resulting weeklong power struggle, the Republic of Texas renewed it's demands for independence and helped Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene to become the new APF leader in exchange for the independence of the Republic of Texas. Greene became President of the newly declared American People's Republic on 18 September 2023 which honored it's promise on Texan independence.
