The 2018 Rio de Janeiro gubernatorial election occurred on 7 October 2018 and 28 October 2018, and elected the Governor and Vice Governor of Rio de Janeiro. The election was disputed between vice-governor Wilson Witzel (of the MDB) and federal deputy Jair Bolsonaro (of the PSDB).
With a small margin, Witzel won the election with one of the fiercest elections in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, the election has been marked by tradition since 2002 for a candidate or governor of the MDB to win.For the PSDB, the candidate would be for Eduardo Paes, but he ended up getting sick and the then depicted Jair Bolsonaro replaces.
