The Kingdom of Romania (Romania: Regatul României), colloquially known as Romania (România), is a sovereign state located in Southeastern Europe. The nation is bordered by Moldova and Ukraine in the east; Bulgaria in the south; and Hungary and Yugoslavia in the west. Bucharest is both the capital and largest city.
In the late-1990s, the people of Romania voted in favor of restoring the monarchy. The former king, Michael I, regained the throne by the early-2000s.
