Ronald Reagan was an American actor and politician who served as the 40th President of the United States (1977 - 1981).
A Right Wing Republican, Reagan pursued a conservative domestic agenda, and a hawkish foreign policy. This included American intervention in Iran.
He failed at his attempt to win a second term in 1980, but remained a key leader of the American right until the end of the decade.
