The year is 1985, and Mikhail Gorbachev has just taken full control of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, sidelining his main rival Grigory Romanov from the Politburo and bringing Boris Yeltsin into the CPSU Central Committee Secretariat. This is all a sign of change, not just for the Soviet Union, but for the world.
For many the change in the air is a sign of hope, yet for others this only shows looming doom. Apartheid in South Africa, Ethnic nationalism in Yugoslavia, the failings of the Afghan Democratic Republic, all signs of a world in change of hope but also chaos. You will chose what happens to this world of uncertainity. Will a utopia be established ? will God return, will Cili con Carne become the leader of the UN ? Who knows ? You do by the power of writing turns and changing the world one step at the time. And remember have Fun.

In order to this,Alia had decided to decentralise specific sectors to the local cities and villages,in addition to this,Alia has also introduced price reform to some sectors as to make the bare necessities cheaper for the average citizen. Another important decision of this year is that more bunkers will be built as public projects as to employ the unemployed citizens. A rumour that former Crown prince Leka has returned in secret is found to be false by the secret police, but the rumour still persists. In order to quell these rumours,Alia increases the amount of censorship across the nation while also going on a local tour to the town of Burrel. The birthplace of the so called "King Zog I". He has also promised to do away with the License Raj.
- Republic of Indonesia: For the last the decade, the New Order ("Orba") Regime of President Suharto enjoyed remarkable success. It had catapulted the country's economic development through foreign investment and the rise of oil prices. The capital city of Jakarta had become a metropolis, a very different city than it was in 1945. If you asked a random Indonesian on the street about the future they'll say "Saya Nggak Takut" ("I am not afraid [of the future]). And they have every right to think so, as by the beginning of the 1980's, the Indonesia's future seemed promising. If only the regime had been less greedy, less corrupt, less brutal, and less dominated by a single man, Suharto...
The year 1985 would see the beginning of a political re-alignment of sorts in Indonesia. Beginning in 1983, the regime decided that all organisations must adopt the state philosophy of Pancasila, including political parties. But it was only in this yeat that a bill was presented and later passed in Parliament. The ramifications of the bill was massive. The bill directly and intentionally challenged the basis of the United Development Party (PPP), the largest opposition party in Parliament, by forcing them to move away from Islam. Unrest also grew across the country during the year, as a result of the bill. Prior to the bill's passing, The ancient Buddhist temple of Barabudhur (Borobudur) in Central Java was bombed, and in July, fires destroyed two shopping malls in Northern Jakarta, as well as the headquarters of Radio Republik Indonesia ("Radio of the Republic of Indonesia"). A few weeks later, 60 buildings were burned in a Jakarta business district. - Uncontacted Sentinelese: What do you mean? We're fishing. We built the boats, we fixed the nets, we sharpened the spears, and now we're fishing. What else would we be doing? Go away.
- Socialist Republic of Vietnam: The economic growth of 1985 was improved, which was a good signal for the upcoming 6th Congress of the CPV. The GNP per capita rose 8.6% from 1984 (and the total GNP is 25 billion rubles), the gold reserves is about 200 tonnes, agricultural productivity increased (20 million tonnes of rice, 3 million tonnes of meat) and 1.8 million tonnes of coffee but still not enough for the future demand and industrial output was significantly improved, with the growth of 11.4%. To further improve our people's living and competitivity, the government issued Decree 10, allowing people to have control of rice paddies and responsibled for their business (in short allowing market, semi-capitalistic economy), removed the barriers on internal trade. On industry, allowing new state-owned industrial conglomerates formed after 1st January 1985 to turned to semi-private ones (51% controlled by the state, 49% private). On foreign policy, strengthening the unity between three states Laos-Kampuchea and Vietnam, and allowed Norodom Sihanouk to returned to the position of head of state.
- Yugoslavia: this year Yugoslavia focuses on its internal issues with the President of the Republics announcing that he would begin writing legislation that would change the term length of the presidential position as for the past 5 years the nation has changed President's at least half a dozen times not allowing any leadership to be able to make adequate changes with the rapidly evolving political situation across the west and eastern hemispheres. The new legislation would extend the presidential term to 8 years following the resignation of the sitting leader to allow a new face and a new beginning of governance within Yugoslavia. With that being said, a new road project begins constructing a high speed road network to allow quick transit from Ljubljana to Skopje.
- Republic of Singapore: A clash between several Malay mobs and Chinese people reported in Downtown core, the epicenter of Singaporean economy and politics. The mob attacked several Chinese-descent people, then rushed and struck several buildings, including the one that are owned by Singapore's government. The police successfully hosed down the riot with 21 people dead, 14 arrested, and several building. This attack is caused by heating tensions between Chinese and Malay people, with several "unequal policies made by the government". This tension create a sense of "phobia" amongst the Malays, and several attacks has been made, although only on smaller scale. This attack also created a political and economical impact. Several companies have started considering to lifting their investment in Singapore following the riot, creating a crisis for Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. The GDP has decreased from 8% to as low as 3%, and the Singapore's stock market crashed from the boycott by foreign companies.
- Belgium: With full power the the new belgian government under the christian people's party a period of harsher budgeting and reform is announced. Combined with the Flemish question which desires the total independence of her people this is opposed, by those who want to keep belgium unified for either cultural or primarely economic reasons. Pensioensparen is also introduced as one of the forms of budgetting, which will allow individuals to safe certain amount of their own choice for their persion.
- Soviet Union: Konstantin Ustinovich Chernenko was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev signed it. And Gorbachev's name was good upon change for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Chernenko was as dead as a doornail. He was of ill health when he became the Soviet premier - a member of the old guard who had served the party since Stalin, he represented the whims of hardline communists. He served his party in what capacity he could, though this capacity had dwindled in recent years. Then, in March 1985, he died. Nobody was surprised, yet what was surprising was the lack of Soviet old guard clamoring to replace Chernenko. Instead, senior Communist and Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Andreyevich Gromyko nominated Gorbachev as Chernenko's successor. The presidium accepts this nomination and Gorbachev assumes leadership of the USSR. His ideas are somewhat radical among communists and he knows that the presidium could remove him from power if he displeased them. A few people are forced into retirement as Gorbachev works on his first large-scale project as premier: withdrawing Soviet forces from Afghanistan and allowing the local Afghan forces to assume control over the war. With the rearranging of cabinets, Gorbachev intends to also ensure mid and low-level officers are competent in their jobs. This ranges from local politicians to safety experts in traffic and nuclear energy. The Kremlin also wishes to invest money in computer technology, which had started to fall behind in the 1970s. Recently, the All Union Scientific Research Institute for Applied Automated Systems (VNIIPAS) has broken ground with computer networking. Computer scientists in the USSR have begun communicating with their counterparts in the United States. This venture, headed by both VNIIPAS and American billionaire George Soros, seeks to bypass the Iron Curtain in what very well may be a new, computerized age. This could not have come at a better time, as the Cold War was beginning to heat up by this point, due in no small part to Reagan's plans of placing weapons in space in his Strategic Defense Initiative (or "star wars" program). Gorbachev proposes a meeting in Geneva in November. This meeting is bumpy at times, but both agree to a joint commitment to avoid nuclear war and to hold further summits later on. Reagan remains uncompromising in his defense of the SDI, so Gorbachev begins to muse over a potential orbital defense system for the USSR...

A footballing program called “Dobd ki” to get rebellious youth to play football with the prospect of national and European Glory. Greenhouses are developed in Szlonok to provide employment and food as potatoes and onions are grown in large quantities.
- Soviet Union: As winter turns to spring, Gorbachev looks back on his first year in office and is quite happy with the strength shown during his short tenure thus far. Shortly before the first anniversary of his nomination as chairman, the Soviet Union launches Mir, a low-orbit artificial satellite. It is the first space station intended for long-term occupation, and the first cosmonauts to inhabit the station are Leonid Denisovich Kizim, a Ukrainian, and Vladimir Alekseyevich Solovyov, a Russian. They will remain in orbit until 16 July. This achievement in Soviet technology is celebrated across the Soviet Union on 12 April - Cosmonautics Day. The USSR holds a large number of parades across the eastern bloc as popular cosmonauts take a tour from Moscow to Berlin. This success in space technology is frequently compared to the recent United States loss of life and spacecraft during the Challenger mission. Gorbachev follows these parades up with rhetoric about "glasnost" or "openness." The Soviet Union must be prepared to win a war of culture and rhetoric, and the only way to do so is through open dialogue with western countries. On 19 April, Soviet officials became notified of a planned, unsanctioned test at the Vladimir Lenin Nuclear Power Plant in Chernobyl. Military police arrive at the plant the next day and arrest Anatoly Dyatlov for trying to toy with one of the most dangerous power plants in Moscow. A number of key personnel are fired as well for their role in the experiment, as well as general incompetency. The Soviet Union drafts a number of plans to improve nuclear safety, particularly at the power plant, which has had a few (classified) incidents before. The Soviet economy continues along an upward trend, which is now uninterrupted by the disaster at Chernobyl. Gorbachev turns his attention to situations in other members of the Warsaw pact, namely in Poland, where an independent worker's union named Solidarność (Solidarity) has a membership of 10 million. The Soviet Union sends a great deal of non-lethal riot gear to the Polish government and encourages its ally to crack down on this subversive, western-funded fifth column.
- Yugoslavia: Following the term reform for the year, President Vidoje Žarković steps down from office leaving a vacancy in the seat of the presidency. During this time, elections are planned within the Communist Party for the new sitting head of office. Unfortunately, an assassination is committed by an anti-communist rebel in Sarajevo killing Chairman Munir Mesihović. This results in the controversial Mustafa Alečković taking power in the meantime and pressing for the presidency of the Republic itself. His supporters are the Chairman of Croatia,Kosovo, and Slovenia. In the end, the coalition government of the Serbian States, Macedonia, and Montenegro would hold steady with a transition of power to Radovan Vlajković, a mainstream party favorite. Though angered, Mustafa would concede praying that Radovan would bring a change from incompetence and at least add much needed stability since the death of President and Premier Tito and the end of the one year presidential run. In the meantime a new infrastructure bill was signed after being presented by Chairman Alečković. This would include investments into better housing beyond the continuation of the new highway network. More hospitals and universities will also receive much needed funding to prevent falling further behind the Western Europeans in development. President Radovan though not opposed to the status quo, would begin to push for more neutral international economic policies with the neighboring states such as Hungary,Bulgaria, and even strikingly the EEC where a letter is written to Brussels proposing an economic deal which would allow the Republics to mutually import and exchange exports without embargo or tariffs in place for the sake of greater prosperity and opportunity (Mod Response). Though unsure how Moscow would react to these policy decisions, President Radovan reinforces the Tito Age policy of mutual understanding and self-determination beyond the Warsaw Pact for the people of their nation.
- Mod response: European Economic comuninity demands that Yugoslavia, conforms to european standard. Before this equality in standards of Yugoslav consumer law with that of the ECC no candidacy will be accepted.
- Yugoslav Response: After rumors spur of Radovan denying such demands, the progressive opposition faction of the Communist Party rally in the cabinet in favor of new ammendments towards Yugoslavia's economic laws and regulations. Fearing public outrage and further party factionalism, President Vlajković sends Chairman Alečković as well as Representative Đuro Brđanin to Brussels to negotiate with the EEC for a new resolution that would reform Yugoslavia's economic policy to be on par with the EEC Member States Policies and Accords.
- India: With a fair bit of opposition to the proposed reforms from various sections of society and from his own party, Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi has decided to scale back the rollout of his reforms. To counter the argument that this would increase foreign influence in the country, it has been decided to internally liberalise the nation first by opening up various sectors of the economy to private players so that they can compete with the government run companies. This is done firstly by the abolition of internal trade barriers and the removal of several barriers to entry. The Government has introduced several measures to begin removing the license Raj internally. The Parliament has also passed the Indian Police Act, 1986, in a bid to overhaul the colonial-era institutions and practices which define Indian law enforcement. Much of the recommendations of the National Police Commission (1979-82) have been implemented in this new act.

- Republic of Singapore: Singapore planned to expand their island using reclamation method. They planning to build more housings, buildings, and ports. The first idea is to build their largest port yet, located in the Southwest of the island, and the housing complex on the Western part. With the funds they have, they improve the public services, and infrastructures, including roads. Singaporean government also started experimenting and constructing a Mass Rapid Transit or MRT to provide an easy and faster journey across the Singaporean, with Downtown Core as their first site of experimentation. Several new economical policies is also acted, and while radical and "too ahead of its time" as it seems, it brings the Singapore's economy afloat and returns Singapore to the Regional stages as major economical player. Singapore is also investing on the science and technology sectors. With the hand of a very educated and skillful researcher, they're able to improve the underground drilling machine, making it more efficient and faster, boosting their MRT plan more further.
- Socialist Republic of Vietnam: The GDP growth in 1986 was about 12%, making the total (current, market-based) GDP was about 25.2 billion dollars (as it was reported to World Bank), with the GDP per capita of $405, which was a improvement compare to the period of 1981-85. Gold reserves are also increases, albeit not significantly, into 204 tons. Food security was improved over 6 months, with the average amount of rice per capita is about 354 tons. This is the second consecutive year that Vietnam exported its' rice to the outer market. Current negotiations with ASEAN states (especially with Indonesia and Republic of Singapore) on normalizing relations are improve. On industry, the growth was about 17% in this year of 1986 thanks to the new market reforms, of which emphasizes the new indicative, decentralized mixed economy. There will be a new leadership during the 6th Congress in December. In this congress, it was accepted that the Central Committee would be expanded into 160 members, alternates reduced to 20. Overall it will be 180 members, with 16 members elected to the Politburo and 14 members to the Secretariat. The Congress decide to solve the main problems: on internal trade, on economy, especially foreign investment, and in foreign relations. On internal trade, the Central Committee declared from 1st January 1987, people can move freely without asking permissions from the goverment. On economy, concentrating on 5 economic programmes: food, consumer goods, export goods, infrastructure and machineries, with a market mechanism. On foreign investment, the Central Committee, the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly now issued a new law called "Law on Foreign Investment", allowing completely foreign-funded business to invest on national economy. On foreign relations: Vietnam specifically, and Indochina states in general, want to be friends with everyone. Here are some offers. First, after a 4-year training class of all Laotian and Cambodian officers (in the Army and Public Security), into trustworthy, professional brothers of Vietnam, PAVN will withdraw our volunteer forces, completely about 1990-91.
- Kingdom of Belgium: King Badouin becomes more and more worried about the steps done by prime minister Wilfried Martens. The king fearing his budgetting combined with the Flemish movement could lead to mass unrest. This allready happening in Hasselt as 20.000 miners march to keep her mines open and 50,000 protest against government austerity measures in a demonstration organised by the General Federation of Belgian Labour. While former PM Paul Vanden Boeynants is convicted of fraud. As State reforms and the desire for further reforms from the Flemish community. This is contrasted by the pan european movement of the EC whom fly their flag for the first time. The king feeling like he is slowly being pushed into using his royal authority to save Belgium and keep her prosperity.
- Uncontacted Sentinelese: We keep the fires going, that's very important. Because if one goes out, it's a massive pain to bring a flame over from another fire. Why am I explaining this? Go away.
- Yugoslavia: Following the summit in July with representatives of the EEC and the representatives of the Republics, Chairman Alečković announces a success before the Cabinet in Belgrade. Though a sign of greater success within the Vlajković Administration, it's viewed by those within the inner circles of government as weakness from President Radovan; as he allowed the coalition to overrule his original decision. With that being said, the radical economic change is seen as a threat by the newer oligarchs within the cabinet as they form a coalition to oppose the resolution bill. This results in immediate action to destabilize their party opposition. Milutin Baltić, the Head of State of Croatia, is as a result poisoned a week before the vote on the new economic resolution at his daughter's wedding party. This was originally intended for Alečković though who had left the reception an hour earlier. The vote though continues with the Chairman of Bosnia using this mishap to pin the blame on internal corruption of the state. He makes this message clear during a speech hours before the vote in front of the partisans and activists who wait outside the chambers of the cabinet in Belgrade. By the end of the 4 hours of deliberation, the bill is signed into law to the dismay of the oligarchs within the party. The Workers Union gave their full support to "The Coalition", Alečković's faction, with Vlajković seeing a growth in public approval. The Head of State of Croatia was succeeded by Dominik Milat, the Head of Government, outbidding the conspirators' choice of Franjo Tuđman and Ema Derossi-Bjelajac, the Head of the Croatian Party. This results in a panic within the inner circles of the regional party cabinet representatives as they were immediately dismissed and detained for obstruction of the law. Following Chairman Mustafa's arrival in Sarajevo, he requested the immediate investigation into the assassination of Milutin. With news of the detainment of the Croatian Cabinet, Vlajković summons the Federal Cabinet again to discuss the handling of the current situation. Besides the destabilization of the Yugoslav Political System, General Rasim Delić met with Alečković that December to discuss talks of a coup against Vlajković after uncovering damning evidence of a government conspiracy against "The Coalition" Leadership.

Going on international trips around the Muslim world, especially within the countries of Saudi Arabia, America, and UAE. His efforts are aimed at calling for all types of support for the Jihad from medical workers, rich donors, and the energized youth all are called. Abdullah Azzam would work on spreading the PR message of the Maktab declaring "The defense of Muslim land and faith should be the goal of every Muslim from Morocco to Indonesia, nothing is better to us than gaining martyrdom!". Within the city of Peshawar, the Al Jihad magazine is created, highlighting Soviet war crimes while talking about Afghan victories and miracles of the Jihad being sent off to the Muslim World and pockets of Muslim circles in the West. When not going on international trips, Azzam spends most of his day interacting with Mujahideen leaders like Guldibin heckmarty and Abd Rabb Rasul Sayyaf. Azzam's own personal house would gain the nickname "The real Services Bureau" due to how open his house is to people talking to him, Azzam would begin to work on creating a united Mujahideen faction. Al Jihad the magazine is shipped to international readers across the Arabic and English speaking world. Much of the Military and Organization process are done by a "Abu Hajir al Iraqi" (I forgot his real name atm) who aims to whip the foreign fighters into a effective independent combat force, creating the Sa'dah training camp near the Afghan-Pakistan border on the Pakistani side. Supply Caravan are organized in Pakistan before being sent off into Afghanistan with the goal of arming, healing and supplying Mujahideen leaders like Ahmad Shah Masood, Guldibin heckmarty, and Jalalaldin Haqqani. Due to the number of foreign fighters, Osama bin Laden under the nickname "Abu Abdullah" funds the group's operations especially with renting houses for fighters to stay in. "Abu Abdullah" spends most of his days in Saudi Arabia trying to gain more donors for the Jihad. Every once and awhile "Abu Abdullah" come to Afghanistan to see how the funds are being used.
