Sabah, officially the United Sabah Special Administrative Region of the Philippines (USSAR), is the only special administrative region of the Philippines on the North of Borneo.

Sabah was once part of Malaysia from independence to the 1997 Handover. Sabah became a part of the Philippines in 1997. Due to weak economy, the Philippines established a Free Market and Privatization on Sabah which enlarged and boost the Sabah economy.

Originally a sparsely populated area of farming and fishing villages, the region has become one of the world's most significant financial centres and commercial ports. It is the world's fifteen-largest exporter and seventeen-largest importer. Sabah has a major capitalist service economy characterised by low taxation and free trade. Although the region has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, severe income inequality exists among the population. Sabah was required to have the Malaysian way of life until 1935.

Sabah is a highly developed territory, the region has the largest number of skyscrapers of any city in the world, and its residents have some of the highest life expectancies in the world.
