The Saharan Community is a nation in Africa. A majority of the population of economy depends on fishing, fish processing, substance agriculture and and nomadic livestock for a livelihood, even though most of the nomads and many subsistence farmers were forced into the cities by recurrent droughts in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Guelb Moghrein Mine near Akjoujt and the Fderîck Mine near Zouerate, produces tens of thousands of tons of copper concentrate, gold and iron ore every year since 2006. the western provinces has extensive deposits of iron ore, which account for almost 40% of total exports. Uranium was recently found around the Aïr region, but it is still un-tapped.

The mine has been forced to temporarily suspend operations in 2012, 2013 and 2014 due to labour disputes, protests and pay strikes.
