The Scandinavian Empire is a nation-state located in Northern Europe. Formerly known as the Icelandic Imperium, the nation is the result of rebellions against Dutch and German overlords. After Sweden, Denmark, and Norway entered the Imperium as equal members, the current name of the Scandinavian Empire was put in place.
History[]
Iceland's Rebellion[]
The great Scandinavian Imperium started off on the small island of Iceland. The Royal Dutch Governor of Iceland began a large nationalistic surge in Iceland, but he was arrested and executed for High Treason against the Dutch king. Prince William of Orange was appointed the new Royal Governor, and took leadership of the indpendence movement, endorsing it and leading it to success. The Icelandic Imperium, as it was called, was formed when Prince William of Orange fled to Iceland to lead their nationalistic pro-Scandinavian movement. William I led the massive military engagements between the Dutch and Icelandic people, and earned their freedom, and as a result, their trust.
The Icelandic Imperium quickly expanded onto the islands off the east coast of Greenland, and the island of Jan Mayen. This was done with the goal of securing the waters in between the islands. This expansion was quickly followed by the purchase of the Faroe Islands from the state of Saxony, and the Faroes were quickly integrated into the Icelandic Imperium. With this expansion into the last island surrounding Iceland, the expansion shifted to the Arctic Circle, with the goal of securing the islands north of the European and Asian continents.

It was during this time that the three Scandinavian states of Sweden, Norway and Denmark declared independence from Germanica, and requested an alliance with the Icelandic Imperium. Noting the potential benefits, the 4 nations agreed to the formation of the Scandinavian Imperium. Based off of Iceland's system of government, each state would remain autonomous to a centrain degree.
This led to a period of icy relations with Germanica, which hastily destroyed the Imperium's Berlin embassy, and refused to recognise the states independence and union with Iceland. This was brought to an end however, when Germanica was given an ultimatum by the Imperium, simply stating that the Imperium will declare war on Germanica if they refuse to accept the state's independence and establishment of the Imperium. Due to the threat of war, and the damage already done to Germanica over the past century, Germanica was forced to accept, and as a result, the Scandinavian Imperium became a fully recognised state.
A New Century[]
It was in 1801, that the Scandinavian Imperium accepted its fifth state, in the form of Svalbard, which chose to apply for statehood after reaching the needed population for application of statehood, 250,000 citizens. It has proven its worth as an individual state, as it is the first step on the Northwest Passage and the most successful whaling and sealing location on the planet.
