American Federation Senate

Composition of the Senate

The Senate is the unicameral legislature for the American Federation consisting of over 200 seats from all across the nation's states and capital district. At the moment, the Conservative Renewal Party holds a plurality in the Senate. Much like Congress in the United States, the Senate is able to check the executive branch in several ways including impeachment of the President and the ability to override the President's vetoes. Unlike the Congress of the United States, the Senate is unicameral and is made up of one chamber of lawmakers. The amount of senators per state is decided on the state's population. Most states are also carved into districts but some of the less populated states have at-large districts.

Biographies of the Senate Leaders[]

Ben Shapiro - Conservative Renewall[]

Of the several party leaders in the Senate, Ben Shapiro has one of the most impressive resumes. A Harvard graduate, veteran of the third world war, and renowned book writer. It was with ease that Shapiro was elected into the Senate. As a senate leader, he has been a staunch opponent to President Tulsi Gabbard's progressive reforms such as gun control legislation and universal healthcare. Shapiro has also been a principled Conservative, but this has prevented him from being able to coalition build, keeping the Conservative Renewall Party with a plurality rather than a majority. As a result, Shapiro hasn't been able to do much as Senate President with several parties working against him.

Sahid Buttar - Social Democratic Party[]

A former guitar player and mayor of San Francisco, Sahid Buttar was elected as one of the senators for the very left-wing capital district. Buttar is one of the newer members of the senate, being elected in 2017 and becoming party leader in 2019. Despite the Conservative plurality, Buttar has worked with the Liberal Party to go against any legislation proposed by the Conservatives which goes against SDP interests.

Kamala Harris - Liberal Party[]

Unlike several other senate leaders, Kamala Harris has held several government positions prior to her election to the senate. She served as mayor of Los Angeles from 2009 to 2010, Governor of California from 2010 to 2013, and then finally into the Senate after winning election in 2015. Despite her years of government experience, Harris' Liberal Party has failed to gain a plurality in the Senate despite her efforts to. In the 2018 elections, the Liberal Party lost several seats to the Social Democrats and the Conservatives.

Pat Buchanan - Paleoconservative Party[]
