The Franco-Burgundian War, better known as the Six Years War, was a large scale trench war in Europe from 1836-1842. The war dealt massive casualties to both sides as the two powers fought each other alone and without allies, although in the last year, the Swiss Confederation would join the French side of the conflict. The war saw the first large scale use of trench warfare.
