The flag of the new state
Slovakia gained its independence from Czechoslovakia on the 14th of March in 1939, when Adolf Nazi had the Wehrmacht occupy the Czech lands. It's a dictatorial one-party state under the Hlinka party of president Monsignor Jozef Tiso and Prime Minister Vojtech Tuka. Soon, they started a mass exiling and deportation of Czechs.
In World War II, the new state fought against Poland and acquired some small areas (700 sq km) after its defeat.
