The Solitary Islands, officially the People's Democratic Republic of the Solitary Islands (Spanish: República Popular de las Islas Solitarias) (Basque: Uharte Bakartarren Herri Errepublika) is an island nation in the North Atlantic Ocean situated on an archipelago about 1600 km (1000 mi) from the United States. The nation is situated on a set of islands that were underground ''seamounts'' more than 75 million years ago, although it is unknown when the islands were formed.
