Sonic the Hedgehog was a short-lived video game franchise made by SEGA that lasted from 1991 to 1994. It eventually ended after World War III due to the infamous Armageddon, but continues to have a lasting legacy across the entire gaming industry. The last Sonic the Hedgehog game to ever release officially before the nuclear bombs dropped at _:__ AM [TBD] was 1994's Sonic Triple Trouble, also known as Sonic & Tails 2 within the former State of Japan.
The franchise followed Sonic, who was a speedy blue hedgehog, fighting against the evil Dr. Robotnik alongside his friends. The enemies Sonic and his allies had to face were usually robots, though they've also had to deal with other threats as well before the Armageddon and subsequent end of the franchise. Much like Super Mario before it, said franchise continues to have a very dedicated fanbase even today that currently plans on reviving it for newer generations.
