The Federal Republic of South Africa, more commonly referred to as simply South Africa, is a nation located in southern Africa. It shares borders with Zambezia and Portuguese Angola and Mozambique to the north. Like Canada and Australasia, South Africa is an independent republic within the British Commonwealth. Its full sovereignty was confirmed with the Balfour Declaration in 1926 and the Statute of Westminster in 1931.
South Africa is a highly diverse country and by far the wealthiest nation in Africa, with an economy on par with Australasia and Canada. It is the most populous country within the British Commonwealth, and holds considerable diplomatic and political power within the organization.
