South Africa is a British affiliated country on the southernmost portion of the continent of Africa between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. A core area of the global British Empire. The written history of the area began with Dutch Colonization. An English annexation in the 17th century has defined the nation's modern history. Rich with natural resources, South Africa is one of the largest producers of gold and coal. The Ethnic diversity between Black African natives, Dutch Afrikaners, English settlers and other imported populations has continually molded the country. As a result of continued immigration after 1900, South Africa has the largest, and growing European population in Africa. European Whites consist of 42% of the national population, with an additional 23% of the population having mixed racial ancestry.
Since the foundation of its current state in 1942, South Africa has become a large contributor to the global British Imperial Force and the London Stock Exchange. South Africa is a parliamentary monarchy and supports both the Church of England and the Netherlands as official state religions.
