South Ossetia is an partially recognized country in the South Caucasus that is internationaly recognized as a part of Georgia. It declared it's independence in 1982 and from 1987 after the Caucasian war (1977-1986) it controles most of it's territories exept for the territories surrounding the towns of Akhalgori and Znaur (Kornisi) etc.
Demographics[]
After the wars and the economic crisis that followed South Ossetia also suffered demographically. In 1989 the fertility rate dropped to 1.2, and the median age went from 27.3 in 1982 to 33.5 in 2004. Currently the median age is 35.8. The age demographic in 2020 was:
