The Kingdom of Spain (in Castillian: Reino de España) is a Parliamentary Judicial sovereign regime, formed by its mainland and colonies in Africa and Oceania, ruled by King Carlos Javier I of Bourbon. His Prime-Regent is Alfonso Fernán Vélez-Ybarra, of the Partido Demócrata Español (PDE). The country, that looks united, is divided in two, with the Right controlling half of it and the Left controlling the other half. Once every five years each side votes a leader and the populace decides who becomes the Prime-Regent.
History[]
The Kingdom of Spain has existed for more than 500 years but has seen better years. After the Third Carlist War (Known outside Spain as "The Second Spanish Succession War") the Carlist claimant Charles VI kicked out of Spain Amadeo I, who became claimant of the throne and, up until today his successors keep claiming the throne. Actually, the claimant is Philip VI.
Spain would join the First World War and win it, which would grant them the control over the English Channel. During this time Spain lived in a time of economic miracle, and the populace became very rich and also the illiteracy would decay 91%.
Underestimating the American power Spain signed a defensive alliance with Great Britain, which would become known as the Pacific Alliance, the name would refer to the ocean they planned to protect. When the USA and Japan, along with their Chinese colonies, invaded the Philippines and Australia, Spain saw themselves unable to protect their land and were forced to retreat and some time later, to surrender. Great Britain wouldn't do better, losing Australia and a part of Canada. This war would be called the Second World War and for the ones who didn't take part, the Pacific War.
Spain managed to trick the Americans in the treaty, holding a few islands in Oceania and Cuba.
After the war Spain entered a time of unrest and crisis and extremist parties grew, influenced by France and Germany and since then there has been a very big threat of civil war, that has been solved by diplomacy.
When the Third/Second World War started, caused by France, Spain became divided again, supporting both factions but in the end, King Francisco Javier I managed to hide the support to the Lothringen Pact and even gained a part of the former territory of France: Roussillon, Sicily and Sardinia.
After the death of Francisco Javier I the Rightist support was revealed, causing an international crisis that almost caused the European Concordat to invade Spain, but was finally solved by returning Sicily.
In this time, another crisis started in Spain, giving a start to local nationalism that had been very unpopular until then. The best known Nationalist group is the ICAT (Independencia Catalá), which has organized many terrorist attacks.
