The Republic of Spain (Spanish: Republica España), commonly known as Spain, is a middle income Western European country located on the Iberian Peninsula. Spain has a population of approximately 36 million people and is a member of TATO and the European Community. Spain is a pluralistic, multiparty democracy with a parliamentary system of government. The current Prime Minister of Spain is Esperanza Aguirre and its President is José María Aznar, himself a former Prime Minister.
