The Republic of Spain is a nation formed after the unification of Pais del Oro and the Spanish Republic. Although it is a Republic, they vow to restore the kingdom if they ever find any survivors of the Spanish royal family. Currently a referendum is under way to decide whether or not to put distant relatives of the Royal Family on the throne or not.
History
Since the Republic of Spain is an only recently created nation, it does not have a long history, but it has recently made a promise to help restore southern Spain to its former glory. It has started to reclaim Andalusia recently as well. For a longer history please go to the Pais del Oro and Spanish Republic pages.
Politics
Spain is defined as the confederation of Spanish and Saharan nations. It is established as a monarchy, but the throne vacant since 1983, many people question the usefulness of the "monarchical fiction" after 27 years of virtual republic, the republican movement represented by the Federalist Party, the Workers Party, the National Republican Party and the Catalan and Saharawi independentists has gained power, are already speaking of the call for a new Constituent Assembly or a referendum, although no more than a rumor. The head of state is exercised for years by a tripartite regency.
The state is defined as the union of two states: The Spanish State and the Saharawi state. The territorial organization of the Spanish State is divided broadly on the pattern inherited from the Constitution of 78. The territory is divided into six Autonomous Communities: These are the Canary Islands, subdivided into cabildos, the Balearic Islands or Illes Balears, subdivided into Island Councils, the Autonomous Community of the Canton of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community of Murcia, the Autonomous Community of Almeria and the Mayor-Presidency of the Autonomous City of Melilla. Rate military bases in Tarifa and Huelva and other territories in the process of incorporation is defined as State territories subject to the government's Ministry of Defense and Reconquest. In Spanish the legislative power is vested in a bicameral legislature, and secondarily in the autonomous parliaments and the island councils. The Houses of Parliament are called Congreso de los Diputados (Congress) and Senado (Senate).
Sahrawi state is defined as a unitary state, divided into 3 provinces subject strongly to Layounne. Sahrawi legislative, in this case, is unicameral.
Economy
State's economy draws the situation of a double economic system inherited from the merger of the two states, one with an economy geared to autarky and one with an economy heavily dependent on imports, with state control of strategic sectors and market protected.
The main resources of the country are fishing and mining (mainly of iron and phosphate in the Sahara and silver, lead and iron in the Union Mining District near Cartagena). Marbles and limestone make up the mining industry. Vegetables like olives and citrusare grown in the country as well in the Almeria province. Also big is textiles, shipbuilding also in Cartagena, toolbuilding and chemicals.
Military
As a member of the ADC it has access to the rest of the Atlantic-Mediterranian region's military. Left over equippment from both Pais del Oro and the Spanish Republic among recently discovered equippment and a French nuclear submarine containing submarine-based nuclear missiles are part of the arsenal. The latter is a "treasure" as it is one of the last of its kind.
Territory
It currently controls southwest Spain, the Canary Islands, the Baeleric Islands, and Spanish Sahara.

International Relations
After the unification in late June of 2010, the Republic of Spain has continued the diplomatic relations of its two parent countries. The country is still a part of the League of Nations and the Atlantic Defense Community.
However, it is out of touch with most the rest of the Iberian Peninsula and such. States that it is aware of are Leon, Galicia, and Esturias. It is also outraged with Andorra for "stealing" Spanish Lands in the north.
However, not all of the unification process is compelte. The military has yet to fully unify, and the nation does not even have a legitimate president at the moment, instead it is lead by the former President of Pais del Oro until elections this October. Also, many still refer to it as the Pais del Oro, and its seat at the League of Nations Headquarters still reads so.
