St. Francis is a city in northern Vermont, the seat of Allan County, and the largest city in the state, with a population of 207,000 (metro pop. 290,000), equaling nearly 1/5 of the state's inhabitants. St. Francis was founded in 1802, near the confluence of the Magog and St. Francis Rivers (the latter of which gives the city its' name), and is home to Vermont's largest industrial base as well as the state's largest concentration of universities, namely the University of Vermont, St. Francis (UVSF).
