Geography[]

Switzerland is a landlocked nation in Central Europe. The main landmark are the Alps with the majority of the nation being part of or surrounded by them.

The nation is divided into regions: the Swiss Alps, the Central Plateau, and the Jure.

Swiss Alps[]

The Swiss Alps form part of the chain of mountains that cover most of Southern Europe. These mountains occupy approximately 65% of the Swiss nation. Dozens of glaciers dot the mountain ranges, and form the majority of Europe's fresh water supply with rivers such as the Rhine, the Rhone, the Inn, the Tico, and other assorted rivers. The nation holds 6% of Europe's water supply.

Central Plateau[]

Even only covering 30% of the nation of Switzerland, the Swiss Plateau (as it is referred to), most of the population is concentrated in the area. Most of Swiss agriculture occurs here with crops of wheat, barley, corn, sugar, and potatoes are grown here.

Most of the Swiss lumber is cut in the area, and infrastructure is highly developed.

Jure[]

Jure is a mountainous region in northern Switzerland. It acts as a natural barrier to the northern nations of France and Germany. The few mountain passes have roads, bridges, and train lines to connect the nation to the outside world.

Borders[]

Switzerland borders Italy to the south, France to the west, Lichtenstein and Austria-Hungary to the east, and Germany to the north. Most of the borders are mountainous regions, with heavy guard from the Swiss military. There are specific border crossings marked and troops guarding strategically important areas and sections.

The Swiss government purchased part of northern Italy to gain access to the Mediterranean Sea.

Government[]

Switzerland is a Federal Republic with several direct democracy principles, including people's rights to propose amendments to te constitution, declaration of war, and the ability to approve or disprove of new laws.
