Szeklerland (Székelyföld) is a federal state of Austria-Hungary. It is borderd by Romania and the state of Transylvania.
Government[]
Szeklerland is parliamentary representative democratic state, with a Prime Minister (miniszterelnökt) as the head of government, and a State Governor (Kormányzó) as head of state. Executive power is exercised by the governments, both local and state level. State legislative power is vested in both the government and the unicameral Szekler National Council (Székely Nemzeti Tanác).
The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Politics[]
The main parties are the Democratic Union (conservative), the Szeklerland Civic Party (Székelyföld Polgári Párt, SPP liberal and social liberal), the Agrarian Party, and the Workers' Party of Szeklerland.
Administrative division[]
Szeklerland is subdivided administratively into 4 counties (megyék, singular: megye). These are further subdivided into subregions (kistérségek), with Marosvásárhely comprising its own urban county.
The counties are:
- Csik, divided in 5 districts and 2 urban districts. Capital Csíkszereda
- Háromszék, divided in 4 districts and 2 urban districts. Capital Sepsiszentgyörgy
- Udvarhely, divided in 4 districts and 1 urban district. Capital Székelyudvarhely
- Maros-Torda, divided in 5 districts, 1 urban county and 1 urban districts. Capital Marosvásárhely
